They misquoted my price ($500-900 for 2 root canals, and then when i was there i was told $1162 for one with insurance, payable immediately), then they overcharged me by almost $500 (which I didn't know until my friend who used to work in a dental office looked at my bill). They emailed me confirmation forms but mailed me my statement 3 weeks later. They made me drive to the office to get my refund but didn't even look at my card. I was referred by my wonderful dentist, but I'll never go back. They are nice enough people but never had to jump through so many hoops. Just be honest and upfront. Hard to call a root canal comfortable, but I must say that the three I have had with the two brothers associated with San Marcos Root, Canal Specialists have been comfortable. The most comfortable root canals that I have ever had! With locations in Austin, San Marcos, and New Braunfels they can usually find an opening quickly. We went to the New Braunfels location as their prices were less. They wanted all the money up front including $500 they claimed they forgot to tell us about. Thus made them the highest provider. When we asked why they wouldn't submit to insurance first they said this was their policy and IF insurance paid anything they would credit us back. Our guess is they were too lazy or did not know how to work with insurance. We asked for our records and they said we could come back for them. Would not mail, email, or text them to us. We finally got them to send them to our dentist. This is not a professional front office. We never got to the medical team so we cannot comment. read more

I was broke and sick with an abcessed tooth. First of all, you reach Cindy. And you get a real person, a kind person who helps you every way that she can..I called her numerous times and not once did she sound exasperated with me. They worked me in right away due to my level of pain. The office is brand new and beautifully decorated. It was easy to find. You take Wonder World Drive off I35 to the West. So you turn the opposite way on Wonder World that you would turn for the Hospital from 35. It is very close to 35. I was feeling so badly but the kindness of the nurse Samanantha put me at ease. She was gentle with the xrays and so friendly and competent. Just like the receptionist. The Dentist is a lovely man who took a great deal of time to explain my tooth situation so that I could understand. He carefully spelled out all of my options. Never once did I feel rushed or condescended to. He understands the economics of Dental work. I felt great trust for him. It is hard to find a Dentist who is both kind with good bedside manner and highly skilled. The entire office radiates good energy and helpfulness. I would highly reccomend them to anyone. I wish there were 10 stars! As it is it's very hard to get root canals done. I mean who loves to get one? It' a nerve wracking ordeal. The last thing anyone wants to deal with are snooty peopla and bad custmer service, right? I absolutely love these people! The front staff greets you so warmly, with big smiles. I was in pain and the first seven in network providers I called were not very accommodating. I thought I was going to wait several days (with this unbearable pain) before I could get an appointment. When I called the Root Canal Specialists, it was like being in opposite land. Jenelle answered the phone directly (no automated system) and she was more than empathetic, she was compassionate. She said she would talk to the Dr. and give me a call back. She called me back three times in an hour and a half to assure me she was still working on it. They made an arrangement to see me that day, and the Dr, and two of his staff stayed an hour after closing to take care of me. They gave me the exact amount of my co-pay before providing service so there would be no surprise. I've heard of "pain free" dentistry but never experienced it till I came here. I was actually able to relax while they were drilling one inch deep holes into my skull. I could go on, but you get the idea. read more
