This is not a place to go if you have a small drop off. The minimum charge is $85 and only worth it if you have a big load. The place looks run well and is clean for a sanitation dumping spot. This was the best experience I have ever had at a transfer station or dump and I have been to quite a few in Santa Clara, Stanislaus, Placer and Monterey Counties. Maggie was SO helpful and funny, made it seem like I was a friend with a smile, she had a service oriented attitude and pleasant demeanor. The check in and check out is very slow. The worker try to charge me $170 just to dump a truck load. I had to go to Hollister recycling center and dump myself just for $28. I won't be doing business with this place in the future. read more

Recology South Valley needs to get their together. The Operations Managment they have here is by far the worst system for it's consumers. It should not take an hour to get in AND out of the dump. This place is not only the most expensive transfer station I have ever been to, but they scam people as well. I have a 3 1/2 yard trailer. The last time I was there, they try and charge me for the full trailer, even though it's only half full. The time before that, I had maybe a yard. They charged me for two. I can't speak to the prices as I used my coupon from Recology to drop off some bulky items (hadn't really paid much attention to this offer before). I try to avoid putting anything into the landfill at all costs, so after living in Gilroy for nearly 30 years, I made my first trip there a week ago and my second today. What I was particularly impressed by was the great attitude and friendliness of the woman checking folks in at the entry scale. $30 to dispose a mattress or $60 for two mattresses of any size. I did feel that $30 was a reasonable price to dispose a mattress because local mattress stores/companies were going to charge $50 or more. Plus Good Will (the ones I checked with), Salvation Army and Hope Services do not accept such donations and I don't blame them. The location is easy to get too and it's not overly cluttered like other disposal sites I've seen. They do limit E-waste so call ahead for pricing and to see what can be dropped off or not. I like going to this place, prices are decent in my opinion. However, don't bother trying to get there before they open to be first in line. Even at 8am when they open, the lady who's suppose to open up likes to stay in her car and be on her phone until she feels like opening. So that's cool. read more

I don't know why this place has such a bad rating. Since recology has stopped taking cardboard off the street, because of covid, I've been coming here couple times a month to get rid of cardboard. They're always friendly. Wait can be a little long if you come on a Tuesday morning, or Saturday's I'd imagine would be busy too. They charge way too much here. I had a small truck load of house hold junk and I was charged $60. For that much money they should unload your vehicle for you. If you have to visit this dump try to avoid hot days. The stench is like a wall. read more

The rates are substantially higher than at Kirby Canyon. They charge by the cubic yard vs by the ton. At the time of this review it was $50/yard (3'x3'x3'). A pickup truck load of mixed construction waste/household garbage would have cost well over $200 vs $55 at Kirby Canyon- easily worth the extra half hour drive. read more
