This review is for a specific person at the Gilroy Post Office. I wanted to give a HUGE thank you to Evelyn. Christmas week is extremely busy for USPS. We needed to mail out over 1,000 veteran care packages just days before Christmas! Evelyn didn't hesitate to take on the extra work. She helped get everything loaded and ready for shipping. No automatic doors for people in wheelchairs. Longish wait times. I've always found the service friendly and helpful, though.

Not like I have a ton of options to choose from for my shipping needs, but I was surprisingly pleased with the Gilroy post office. Everyone seems happy and surprisingly helpful. This would be a 5 star review except they have a 15 year old Thai girl that works there and I'm against underage labor. Edit: turns out the 15 year old has some Benjamin Button thing going on and she's actually 40. My bad. Didn't know that was real. read more

This is the only official post office, within the city limits of Gilroy. It is less than a mile from my house, which makes it convenient. The hours of operation are shorter, in comparison with other post offices in Morgan Hill and San Jose. The customer service is inconsistent, the majority of the time the clerks are amicable. There is one card that has been working there, for too long, and she is very unhappy. You can get your passport processed here pretty easily. read more

BEWARE DISCRIMINATION and CRUELTY ... MANAGER JOLEEN!!! I had moved from my Residence in Gilroy, About a week ago I had talked to a lady that worked there that was willing to hold my mail for 30 days for me...The house that I had been living in they recently had up for sale and I had moved out. I called the post office to see if I had any mail, And I was rudely talked down to, along with A nasty promise that any of my mail would be forwarded back to sender from JOLENE the supervisor there...She Was so NASTY and DEGRADING to me, Talking down to me like I was some lowlife and telling me to get help from the Salvation Army like I was some complete loser ,she had absolutely NO respect telling me that everything I was saying was FALSE!!! I will look into this further with an attorney ..this is horrible treatment to a customer!!!IWe all need our mail...This may be a federal crime ..I'm going to look into it, and contact the ADA American disabilities Association and every different avenue I can...I am disabled and to talk to a customer the way she did with me was beyond justifiable!!!! read more

This is the only post office in town and odies not have a stamp vending machine. I've lived in other cities in California and this is the worst postal service I've encountered. If you are expecting a package through the USPS here in Gilroy, do not expect to receive it on time. They open late and don't open on Saturdays. We need a stamp vending machine, better service and hours. read more

Long lines, most of the employees are not friendly or nice at all. Their delivery people are awful as well. Had a package that did not fit my mailbox shoved in there and had to pry to get it out. We trust you with sending things so why do you treat our packages like that? Every post office experience I've ever had in San Jose has been awful. Since moving from Gilroy I miss the friendless of my small home town. I went here to get my passport today and everyone was cheery and pleasant. I wanted to tell them in person but I figure I would do it online. The process was quick and painless. People complain about post office. They help millions of people daily. They work hard. Any weather any day. I like the gilroy office. As a business owner they are very flexible when it cones to my packages. When my business is closed they always deliver to my neighbor ( pre arranged) when i am not around. As sole owner this is a plus. They may not be perfect but are very good. read more

If you need to go to a post office go to San Martin, They are fast. If you come here expect to get a pretty long wait. Most of the time there is only 1 or 2 employees helping out. Always a line of like 8 people at a time. So plan at least 20 minutes or more for wait. read more

My mail is constantly delivered to the next street over. I shouldn't have to deal with this nearly every week for the past 5 years. Ridiculous. Always happens with packages I'm waiting for or need urgently. Plus our boxes get broken into a lot. Just give me my mail at my house like most! Seriously, I really wish I could give this post office a higher rating b/c the clerks that work here are super friendly and nice but I can't. This is why: (1) They're opened M-F 9:30 am - 5:00 pm. Closed Sat and Sun. Ok, they're not even open the full 8 hrs! People like me who work 9-5 have to either be late for work b/c I gotta ship something or leave early from work b/c I gotta ship something. (2) They are short on staff and whenever I'm there, there's always a line. At least a 30 min wait. Com'on Gilroy! Get with the program. And I don't understand. This is their main Post Office and most places open at least 8 am and closes sometimes as late as 6 pm or 9 pm. Like com'on bro. This is pathetic. The worst post office I have ever had to deal with. I came by to pick up a package on a Saturday as they have Saturday hours. Line of people waiting but no one answers the door. You can hear people on the other side so it's obvious they ignore their customers. Even after knocking several times. Finally someone answers after 15 min of knocking and a long line. Then I get a letter returned for not enough postage. Normally I wouldn't care, except this was a wedding invitation and they placed a stamp for not enough postage. Seriously..... why would you stamp a wedding invitation. So disappointed because now the invitation is ruined. There are worst things that could happen but lack of respect and common sense. This is the second bad review I've written for the Gilroy Post Office in six months. The last one had to do with the www.usps.com website telling me that it was not possible to initiate a Gilroy, CA MAIL HOLD online -- when I've been doing it for at least 10 years, and it is indeed possible. Now there is ANOTHER mail hold issue. We instituted a MAIL HOLD, with accumulated mail to be delivered on Monday, February 3. Early on Thursday morning, January 30, we realized that we would arrive home early, and I went online to amend the mail hold, to have all accumulated mail delivered today, February 1. All of our neighbors have received their mail today. We have NOTHING. Phone calls to the Gilroy Post office have yielded a solid hour of busy signals. A telephone call to the USPS national help line was less than useless. All they could do was blame me for the wording of my hold mail request -- wording IDENTICAL to every hold mail request I fill out for every time I travel. And then all they said they could do was "forward the issue to the local post office" -- where nothing will be done until Monday. The US Postal Service keeps claiming that their function shouldn't be privatized. Perhaps they should make the changes that must be made to convince the rest of us that a private company couldn't provide better service than this. read more

They don't answer the phone. I had been expecting a call about a package for two days. I call three times in the morning.... Nothing.... Called two more times in the afternoon... Nothing. Went on my lunch to talk to Julie (who said she would call me the next day) only to say that they can't find it, which is not her fault. I asked her why the phone was never answered and she said it was too busy. Busy or not that is unacceptable especially the post office. I'm ok with anyone answering and being put on hold but no one answered and if someone wants to call the Gilroy Post Office, good luck because they might be too busy to answer. read more

I am severely frustrated with G.P.O. I have been shopping online lately and most of my packages get delivered through usps. My regular carrier has not problem delivering my packages but her sub is a serious idiot! I live in the rural area. My mailbox is on the street and you have to go down a driveway to get to the house. If a package doesn't fit in the mailbox, he refuses to come down my driveway to deliver it to me. I don't ever go anywhere. I can't. My husband has the car all day and there is nothing within walking distance. When he leaves an "attempt to deliver" note in my mail box I want to rip my hair out!! I have called and complained multiple times and Julie, the manager, doesn't do a damn thing. Tom is obviously either very lazy or needs to go through delivery training again. I have had a terrible time with the post office delivery to my home. If I could, I would give it minus stars because one star is too many. I frequently receive mail that is not mine and my mail goes to "who knows where." Last month my neighbor returned a large stack of mail to me that included magazines and several financial letters containing account numbers and other information that I would not want delivered to persons unknown. Numerous packages are delivered to the wrong address. The worst problem I had occurred when the postman signed my name to the delivery slip and said he had delivered it to me - describing me in detail to the postmaster when I filed a complaint. Eventually, he confessed that he had signed for the package himself but put it in my mailbox. I never received the package and the seller had to assume the cost of the loss because the post office would not reimburse me. I thought his signing my name for my package was mail fraud. Isn't that a felony? That postman is still working in Gilroy! It happened again yesterday. I received a text from eBay that a package was delivered to my mailbox. It was not there. I checked with all my neighbors with neighboring boxes and no one had my package. Today, miraculously, the package showed up in my mailbox. Obviously, it was delivered to the wrong address, and an honest person delivered it to my box. The staff working in the post office is no better. They rudely accuse me of stealing the mail that they steal or lose. This post office is staffed with employees that are either incompetent, dishonest, or in come cases both! read more

i also must write a great 5 star review for this post office's passport service. i live in san jose and tried to go to the eastridge office, got there at 11:00 in the morning and there were tons of people milling around, i asked a lady how long she'd been witing and she got there at 6:00 in the morning and still way back in the line i walked out and went online to find another branch and thought i'd try gilroy. i called and booked an appointment for the following week and was in and out of there in 15 minutes, got my passport 6 weeks later. i must also add that the passport lady was extremely helpful and i could tell very much enjoyed her job. i must also add that i called the morgan hill post office first for an appointment, they put me on hold and i waited 15 minuted before hanging up and calling gilroy. its worth the 15 minute drive from san jose to save you a whole day of waiting, i also go to gilroy for my dmv issues. read more

All the people at the Gilroy USPS office are great! I've had several lost packages (it probably happens more than it should), but I've always got my packages even if they are a week delayed. I have nothing bad to say about the people that work here. They are always responsive to any issues, and they get it solved quickly. read more

Good service even when the lines are long. They will get extra help from management and other staff to try to serve you faster. They aren't perfect but allways polite and courteous. read more
