Came here to use the Chase Sapphire Reserve $150 OpenTable credit. We ordered the lobster pasta and steak to share and both were surprisingly good. The lobster sauce was delicious and the staff even gave us complimentary bread to soak up every last drop. The steak was also a pretty hefty portion and worth the $46. It was rare in the middle, just the way I like, and crispy on the outside. The only disappointing part was the cocktail. We tried the Sanzese Spritz, which was overly sweet and didn't seem worth the $21 for just some juice and prosecco. I expected it to be a little more complex for the price we were paying. Dined here to celebrate a birthday dinner and boy was this place packed. Good thing we had a reservation because on a Tuesday at 6:45pm there was a wait for walk ins. The restaurant itself felt like you were in the amalfi coast during summer and in need of an aperol spritz. Very fitting for a June birthday. The seating is a little tight so we were seated within earshot of our neighbors on both sides. Our server was knowledgeable about all the dishes and very helpful he went above and beyond with his details. For drinks, we opted for the Benny was their spicy prickly pear margarita and the glass itself that the drink was served in was beautiful. Drink itself was tasty. My companion ordered the mambo Italian and also enjoyed their drink although we didn't expect so many passionfruit seeds in the actual drink. After reviewing photos and reading reviews we opted for the spicy tuna and the crab and mortadella dip. First caution for you all. This restaurant is VERY lemon forward in all the meals so if you don't particularly like citrus, I would ask in advance for less lemon. Second caution is that there are multiple pictures of the crab and mortadella dip pictured in this deep dish with ritz crackers. This is NOT the case as those pictures of that dish is "outdated" and the chef had revised it to no longer be served with ritz crackers but with zeppoles. I was quite disappointed in this as I adore the idea of the ritz crackers and I felt that the new dish the dip was served in was a lot smaller than what the previous images led me to believe. This also ate more sweet than savory and was my least favorite dish of the night as there was not enough mortadella in the dip, the pepper jelly was sweet and the zeppole ate like a bunuelo which is typically a dessert based bread. The spicy tuna I enjoyed as it was crispy and the tuna was fresh but again very lemony which I liked, my partner did not. Now on to pastas which honestly was the saving grace of this meal as I was a bit underwhelmed with the starters. All 3 pastas we ordered were delicious in their own way. We knew we were going to order the lobster triangoli given the popularity. The sauce itself is thick but was served a bit lukewarm and I prefer my food served very hot temperature wise. The lobster itself was delicious with the chili oil inside however I would have liked it more stuffed given the price point and 4 pieces served. We wanted to try the Don Angie meatballs but opted for the manicottini Della casa after confirming that the same meatballs are used for that pasta at a smaller size. This pasta was absolutely amazing! The thicker rectangular shape was al dente and while the pasta looked like it was be thick it was perfect held the sauce well and the addition of the breadcrumbs added a great bite to the dish. It was hearty and flavorful and a must get. Now the pasta alle vongole had the most unique pasta shape I have eaten it in a while and was long and curly weirdly like hair but the aji Amarillo sauce was so delicious and while lemony, it complimented the clams and breadcrumbs and I would order it again. For dessert we ordered the gelato Viennese which was a chocolate tarte cake and had a thick sticky caramel with hazelnuts. It was hard but flavor wise so yummy and gelato in the center and it was nutty and crunchy and cold. We also ordered an americano and a cappuccino and the coffees came with a cookie which was perfect to dip it in. Now without me saying anything additional, our wonderful server also brought out a complimentary scoop of gelato for the birthday celebration and added a candle which was very nice. Overall this was a pleasant experience with the exception of the crab dip, and I would definitely ordered the last 2 pasta dishes and the dessert again. My friend and I had been wanting to try this place for a while and we were finally able to snap a Sunday evening reservation. The staff was lovely and we had a seat at the bar. We started with the cheesy fritelle which was delicious. Then we had the manicottini which came with mini meatballs and was absolutely fantastic. Last, we got the fish special for the night which came with a radicchio salad and while it was a little pricey it was divine and we paired it with the potato crochettes. I came here for my birthday dinner. I made the reservation a month ago. I had a reservation at 8:45 pm but our indoor table wasn't ready yet so we probably didn't get seated until 9 pmish. My friends and I shared (in order of my favorite): - Don Angie meatballs: it came with 6 pieces total. The bottom pieces were slightly crispy and I loved it! I wouldn't call San Sabino a fusion restaurant, exactly; it's solidly Italian, with a particular seafood focus. But at the same time, it's not afraid to incorporate flavors and ingredients that span continents if it suits the dish. Take, for example, the Spicy Tuna (which I loved), where doughy, cheesy arancini balls and fresh tuna bites are topped with a charred scallion crema and Japanese furikake-flecked broccoli rabe, adding salty/umami/caramelized vibes. Or the pasta alle vongele, where a traditional Italian pasta + clams dish is pepped up with a spicy, peppery, zesty sauce, partially thanks to the Peruvian ají Amarillo. (This wasn't my favorite dish of the night, but definitely flavorful, and the chewy corkscrew pasta was excellent. Fresh parsley helps bring it down to earth a bit.) Other inventive, delicious dishes we tried included: -Crab and mortadella dip (Polenta Zeppole, Pistachio, Hot Cherry Pepper Jelly): This was incredible and I wanted more of it. I had forgotten about pepper jelly! The crab dip is served alongside crispy Italian fritters filled with polenta. The flavors in the dip somehow all work perfectly together; it tastes a little bit like a sweet and spicy relish. Lobster Triangoli pasta (white vodka sauce, black garlic): This pasta is deceptively simple. The eye sees four giant triangular pieces of pasta doused in a not-too-heavy cream sauce, topped with black garlic. But then, hiding inside, to accompany the lobster pieces, there's another sauce: a briny red vodka butter crowd-pleaser. Steak Magazzino (anchovy chili crisp, pine nuts): I don't eat much steak and only tried a bite, but this was excellent. Tender steak and flavorful toppings. Pineapple sorbetto (Almond Granita, Rosemary Pignoli Cookies): pineapple/almond flavors with a gritty texture thanks to the granita. The rosemary pine nut cookies are crumbled up into the sorbetto, as are chunks of pineapple. This was so good and so huge for a dessert that it had to go sadly unfinished. The cocktails here are excellent and I personally would go for them over the Italian-focused wine list, which is still strong. I tried two: -Mandarino (bourbon, mandarinetto, Montenegro, Aperol, honey, lemon): Yum. Paper Plane riff/zhuzhed up whiskey sour, with light bittersweet notes from the Aperol and Montenegro. The flavor profile of the Montenegro also added depth. Belmar Special: (Espresso, Coconut & Chicory-Infused Vodka, Cacao, Amaro Angeleno, Soda): Apparently this is a take on a Mind Eraser cocktail (see: college, mid-2000s), but I ordered it because it seems reminiscent of an espresso martini-style dessert drink. It's actually served in a tall glass filled with ice and it tastes incredible. There's cacao, there's espresso, there's aromatic citrus, including orange zest sprinkled on top of the ice. read more

Started with the Scotties Martini (garlic bread martini) which was maybe my favorite thing of the night. It was a savory girl's dream drink! The one thing I will say is that once you get to the pastas, you need to be selective because the acidity mix from the dishes may make you feel a bit uneasy. This is hands down my new favorite restaurant in the city. Everything from the staff, drinks, and most importantly, food were amazing. Our reservation was for outside which I was a little nervous about since OpenTable said there were no heaters. It turns out there are a few tables under heaters but some without. The hostess tried to get us a table inside which we really appreciated but ultimately unsuccessful. We had a cocktail inside and the vibes were immaculate. However, the food and drinks were so good we quite honestly forgot we were outside. For drinks, I had the Benny and my friend had the Scottie's martini. She was obsessed with her cocktail and I loved mine as well. I don't typically love martinis or olives but I tried hers and this one was very tasty and strong! Olives were stuffed with creamy feta which was good. For food, we shared everything so we could try a bunch of things which I definitely recommend. For apps, we got the cheesy frittelle, stuffed mussels, and spicy tuna. All were absolutely amazing but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be between the frittelle and mussels. For our mains, we got the steak and lobster triangoli which we loved. The shrimp parm was also highly recommended but we ultimately went with the steak because we felt the crispy outside was quite unique and were correct. I had a wonderful celebratory meal at San Sabino, Don Angie's seafood forward counterpart. My party of 6 got to try a bunch of things on the menu: --Apps/Sharables: The octopus carpaccio featured an interesting combination of chewy octopus/capocollo that was contrasted with the fresh scallion/fennel and cheesy crackers. The spicy tuna was tasty with its aromatic scallion cream and furikake. The stuffed mussels were fresh with a nice citrus note. The Greenpoint oysters were a fan fav at the table due to its fresh oysters and tasty sauce. The Don Angie meatballs were solid with its seasoning, chewiness, and parmesan involvement. --Pastas: My favorite was the Lobster Triangoli because the filling was well-seasoned and spicy which mixed well with the white vodka sauce. The Pasta Alle Vongole featured fresh clams and al tende pasta. While I liked the tobiko of the Stuffed Farfalle, its profile was a little too sweet which overpowered the crab flavors. --Mains: The Steak "Magazzino" was tender and juicy with the fragrant anchovy chili crisp. I liked how the shrimp parm wasn't too tomato-y however I found the sauce a little too sweet again. The shrimp pieces unfortunately were a little mushy, even when accounting for the batter, and didn't have the shrimp flavors I was hoping for. --Desserts: If you like chocolate and coffee, the Gelato Viennese is for you! I enjoyed the addition of hazelnut and caramel flavors. My table liked the tart profile of the Pineapple Sorbetto and the sour citrus notes of the Caramelized Crespelle with its lime-base cream. --Drinks: The Belmar Special was their version of an espresso martini but I liked how it wasn't milky/creamy. The coconut was subtle nevertheless. The Mambo Italiano had a refreshing sweet-savory combo from the passionfruit and basil. I wished the pear flavors in the The Benny were stronger. Staff were polite but you can tell they are understaffed. There were some gaps between the courses but we should have clarified they didn't have to bring everything together. I really liked the yellow/golden and brown decor vibes. While some dishes didn't quite hit the mark, I still really enjoyed my meal! read more

Hit and miss, 5 stars for the pastas and drinks, 2 stars for everything else. sanzese spritz; the perfect spritz. would seriously just return just for that. the apps were such a let down, i wish we had ordered differently. the oysters, while i appreciate the flavor, had way too much sauce. and the sauce was lukewarm. lukewarm and oyster doesn't belong in the same sentence. it would have great if the sauce was ice cold and there was less of it. kona kampachi. this one was terrible. drowned in aperol and no other flavor had a chance to come through. also nitpicking but would have been nice if they served some complimentary bread to complement my delicious spritz but perhaps we should have just ordered some cheesy fritelle like everyone else. the pastas were excellent; we shared the clam pasta and lobster triangoli and both were amazing in very different ways. for mains we had the shrimp parm and trout. the shrimp parm just didn't work for us flavor wise, it was odd tasting and the presentation was honestly off putting. we preferred the trout which was pretty good. read more

I'm ride or die for Don Angie but have been meaning to check their new spot out. We weren't disappointed! Had an early dinner res and even though it was the only time available that day..the entire time we were there they were only at about 30% capacity. I'm fatigued by the reservation games. BUT food and drinks were phenomenal! The sanzese spritz was delicious and presented in a fun fashion. Spicy tuna arancini is stupid good, octopus carpaccio was lovely, cheesy frittelle also just great. The lobster triangoli was one of my favorite dishes I've had this year.. I don't see how someone couldn't love it. So creative, beautiful flavors..I did not want to share. Halibut was absolutely amazing, one of the best preparations we have eaten. Shrimp parm was so good & a welcome twist on the chicken standard. Only item we didn't care for was surprisingly the DA meatballs, they were mushy and not great. Service was good, not great. Interior is cute and I love the color scheme. Definitely will be back! read more

I've been wanting to come here forever and got lucky to snag a Saturday dinner reservation. We arrived on time however did have to wait 10 minutes to be seated, but not a big deal. The interior was super vibey and cool. It was like almost a retro diner vibe but upscale. Here's everything we got: Cheesy frittelle: 7/10 savory and sweet with the honey! This was quite rich but I enjoyed it Spicy tuna: 9/10 if you like spicy tuna crispy rice (like at sushi restaurants) you'll love this. And I LOVE spicy tuna crispy rice Lobster triangoli: 10/10 my favorite bite hands down. Incredibly creamy and rich truffle sauce with the softest lobster center. Sooo good, it melted in your mouth Carbonara: 7.5/10 a good carbonara with pepperoni Don angie meatballs: 8/10 delicious especially with the sauce! Service was excellent. This spot was suprisingly good, and I actually liked it better than Don Angie! Not too difficult to grab a lunch reservation and the inside is super cute. The service was the only drawback though -- we kept having to flag down our server since we waited a long time for service; the server also forgot about a dish we ordered so it came late. - Sanzese Spritz (5/5): we all started with this spritz, and honestly, was some of the best spritz I ever had. It's so light, refreshing and fruity, and not sweet at all - Oysters (5/5): so extremely fresh and flavorful! - Crab & Mortadella Dip (4/5): a bit troll that it comes with Ritz crackers but the dip is surprisingly not too heavy and very crab forward - Spicy tuna (3.5/5): spicy tuna was not the best, but the concept was fun! Arancini was nice and crispy though - Tricolore sabino (5/5): oh my god, one of the best salads I ever had. The greens were so fresh and flavorful, and had a crunchy texture from the toppings - Pasta alle vongole (5/5): was also really surprised by this pasta. It was cooked perfectly al dente, surprisingly light, and I loved the shape of the pasta! The clams were also delicious - Lobster Triangoli (2/5): least favorite dish. Extremely expensive for 4 pieces of thin pasta with barely any filling. Most of the filling is honestly oil and the sauce is extremely heavy - Shrimp parm (4/5): I actually really enjoyed this dish! My FAVORITE spot! The food here is a bit more innovative Italian than what's at Don Angie, dare I say for a more refined palate. I am obsessed. The crab dip was so good. The only skip is the shrimp parmesan, it was much too bread-y and not a lot of shrimp (besides the heads for display). We had a lot of great meals during our last NYC trip, but San Sabino was one of the best. Service was flawless, friendly, and attentive. What stood out most about the service was that the server was open and confident with recommendations, which ended up being our favorite dishes (stuffed mussels and manicottini), which is rare because I do my research before eating. We also enjoyed the lobster triangoli and octopus carpaccio. Everything was beautifully plated and the decor was nice as well. I highly recommend coming here asap. Reservations for weekday lunches should be reasonably easy to come by, especially with outdoor seating. read more

We stopped in for a bite and were not disappointed. Even a few days later I was telling my family about this lunch spot me and my friend found. It was very good and the service truly was excellent. Loved the decor, food was delicious and it was the perfect sizing. If you're a Diet Coke drinker.. their Diet Coke was the bomb... fresh, cold and crispy! Love the food, not in love with the service. Boyfriend brought me here for my birthday and the food was incredible. Loved everything especially the tuna arancini and the shrimp parm. The shrimps were the size of my head, extremely large and meaty! I'm not sure what to think of the service as it seemed like our waiter was unnecessarily close to my SO and perhaps hitting on him?? This place was priceyyyy but very good. We very thing we got was unique and very well thought out and executed. We started with the spicy tuna arancini which was unlike anything we've had before and so tasty. We both got the vongole which was deliciously creamy and savory- I just wish it was bigger! For dessert we got the crispelle which I haven't had before. I enjoyed it but it did have a bit of an alcohol taste so just a warning about that! I got a crazy martini which was strange but good. My friend also got it but didn't like it and they gave her her second drink for free! Everyone that works here is super nice!!! read more
