My husband and I came here for dinner. We ordered General Tao's chicken, Kung Pao San Pan and Mix vegetables. They were really fresh and really delicous. The restaurant is very clean and the hospitality of the owner and the chef make you feel like home. We came to Washington from Southern California for a short trip getaway and we totally enjoyed our first dinner at San Wok Express restaurant. "Yummy to tummy!!!". Kind of a tucked in spot. I have ridden by there countless times and never noticed it. I found it on yelp and decided to get a little munch after work. It was right before they closed. I was greeted with a smile when I walked in. I didn't have my glasses so an older gentlemen read the menu for me. I have never had that happen before. When we moved to Kent two years ago we've been trying to find a good Chinese place close by. We've used to go to New Eng's Restaurant until it went out a business. Then we found San Wok Express. We usually do take outs but have sat in sometimes. The couple there are always very nice. The women remembers my husband and son as he always goes and pick up the food. The food is good and well priced. We've noticed a lot of Asian restaurants in Kent are over prices, but San Wok wasn't one of them. We will continue to go there for our Chinese cravings. read more

We randomly stopped here as it was the place closest to our hotel. Best decision ever! The food is phenomenal, the service is outstanding, and the restaurant was clean. We started out with the wonton soup. Simple and delicious and a perfectly sized cup portion. Next we had the steamed dumplings for our appetizer. $5 for six dumplings on a bed of cabbage with a tangy sauce. Finally, for our entree we shared beef chop suey, filled with vegetables and a good amount of beef. We also had chow fun with chicken. The show stopper was sweet and sour chicken. Large pieces of tender chicken meat in strips surrounded by the most perfectly fluffy and light fried batter I've ever seen. Did I mention everything was incredibly reasonably priced? This was my first time here. I ate a lunch special from 11:30-12:30 and I was the only person in the restaurant the entire time, which should tell you something; no one even came in for take out orders. The soup and the main entree (Cashew Chicken) were both very salty. The fried rice was white (not dark colored like other Chinese restaurants I've eaten at) and only had egg yolks in it. The chicken in the entree was tender & the lunch was a good size portion. The home made sweet and sour sauce for the one egg roll included in the lunch was good; I even put it over my tasteless fried rice. Lunch served with hot tea and a fortune cookie was an excellent price of $8.50 plus tax. The chairs at my table were sticky to touch. I personally don't plan on going back. read more

I ordered take out here about two weeks ago. Ordered chicken chow mein Hong Kong style and they had no clue what that was. How could you be an authentic Chinese restaurant if you don't know what that is. Also in my chow mein it was full of bean sprouts that was basically the whole dish. We also ordered green beans which those were just ok. And chicken curry that was not the best but eatable. With that being said I will not be going back. Best Chinese food in Kent if not in all of the greater Seattle area! The Mongolian beef is the best I've ever had! Their fried rice is super good too although when I first got it I thought it looked pretty bland, it's actually very flavorful. Everything I've gotten is always delicious and perfect and hot every time! The lady who is always in there, who I'm guessing is the owner, is super duper nice and so friendly with my young daughter. I don't know why everyone has been given this Restaurant a good review. If you know any thing about Chinese food this would not be forced choice for you the food is Americanized answer flavorless that I wonder why anyone would want to eat for more than once. An example of what I'm talking about is the fried rice is more like Uncle Ben's white rice with a little brown coloring in it and maybe a few vegetables like peas but certainly not what I would be used to eatting true fried rice. read more

I went here yesterday around 1pm. I decided to try the mongolian beef. Order came out fairly quick. It was good but I thought a bit pricey. 13.00 including a side of rice ( 1.00).A little skimpy on the beef but tasty. This is a very small restaurant with great servers. Wonderful small restaurant appeal. Food was good but nothing special. Had orange chicken that was cooked well but the orange flavor was mild. I ordered fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, and egg flower soup. I thought that was a pretty safe order for a restaurant I had never tried before, since I almost always love them. All of it was super mediocre. The egg flower was super bad. The shrimp with honey walnut somehow had both too much and not enough sauce. The fried rice was fine, but again, mediocre. This place is FANTASTIC. A true gem. When I first moved to Kent, I wondered if I would find an amazing restaurant hiding out anywhere and let me tell you, THIS is it. The staff is the friendliest you could come by and the food is to die for. They have a large menu with plenty of variety and superb portions. Not only is the food flawless, but the bubble teas are a great side and they have plenty of flavors as well. I have lived within a half a mile of this place since it opened but hadn't stopped in until reading the reviews here tonight. We walked in to find the place clean with plenty of seating and a very friendly staff. We felt welcome from the moment we entered. The menu offers a great variety of family style entrées. They have soups and appetizers if you choose to add them but they don't automatically come with your order like at some Chinese restaurants. I personally prefer it this way, then I am not full from the soup and bbq pork before my meal arrives. The prices were reasonable and ranged from 8.50 to 12.50 for an entrée. We ordered General Tao's Chicken, Mongolian Beef and the House Special Chow Mein. They all arrived at the table on large heaping plates. We both ate until we were full and had more to bring home for tomorrow. The menu had indicated that both the General Tao's and the Mongolian Beef were spicy but I would say they came out at about a 1 star. I did not lower my rating because the food was still very good and flavorful just not what we expected. We asked the gentleman that came to box up the leftovers if next time we could request it to be spicier. He was happy and enthusiastic when he told us of course he could make it as spicy as we like. I have come twice within 2 weeks and on both occasions I was quite pleased with the friendly service and the delicious and tasty dishes. The decor is quaint and the place is clean. Need to rename this place to San Yuk Express. It was rated 4.5 of 5 so I thought I would try it. Please find another place. Egg Rolls were flavorless as the Kung Pao Shrimp. House Rice was ok and would order again. No atmosphere and got a peak at the kitchen which then made me fearful to eat my Togo order. Truly can't figure how it is rated so high. The orange chicken was very flavorful and the batter was nice and crispy, the Kung Pao was just the right amount of spicy, and the rice was perfect (and not too salty). We also had the Beef Chow Mein and it was also delicious. 2 Egg rolls with Sweet n Sour sauce which was also...very delicious. a perfect blend of sweet and sour. not just a bowl of red goop. The husband and I have been looking for a couple of years for a good Chinese restaurant with no success until now. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the nicest lady. We ordered for take out and were out the door with our food in less than 10 minutes. We kept commenting on the drive home that we hoped the food was good cause the service was top notch and they are only a couple miles from home. We were not disappointed. We couldn't believe our eyes when we opened the boxes and saw the portion we were given. It was enough food for 3 meals. The chow mein was incredible and the sesame chicken was cut in big chunks of tender and juicy breast meat. This is our new "go to" Chinese place. No need to look anywhere else. This is the flavor I crave when I think Chinese food. read more
