Not especially impressed with this spa. It's exceedingly expensive - my friend got a facial that was $320 and I had a 60-minute "customizable" massage for $250. Neither were anything special to write home about. They have the usual amenities you'd expect with a steam room, quiet room, showers, lockers, etc. I think, during non-COVID times and less hot days, they have the doors to the guest waiting area open and there is a zen/rock/water garden you can walk around in that probably adds to the ambiance. It was closed while we were there and it was very crowded with around 10-15 ladies all waiting who were called back at the same time. My massage didn't include any stones, oils, or aroma therapy and I wasn't offered any of those upgrades either. It was OK but it wasn't anywhere near the best massage I've had, nor was the service or friendliness of the spa techs. For the sort of money I paid - I'd go elsewhere. read more

My husband and I chose the Sanctuary for our anniversary vacation. My overall impression is meh. I thought from the descriptions it would be more luxury and hip, but it was a very ordinary location with not-so-luxury amenities. The good: The room is clean and the bed was comfy. The staff were friendly. I had a shiatsu massage by Paula which was very good. My hubby got a regular massage that he raved about. The meh: The pool was underwhelming. The infinity pool looks directly at another building with no view. The spa facilities are lacking. The women's side was crowded, having to share the small couches while waiting and was loud due to everyone talking. The jacuzzi looked dirty. And unfortunately, during my massage there were maintenance personnel having a loud conversation near the treatment area, making it difficult to relax. I mentioned it on my way out, and they gave me a small discount. Very annoying to pay more for a spa experience and leave stressed instead of relaxed. read more

We came as a large party of 10 and I can't say I'd recommend it. Food is good, but unfortunately not very memorable and at the $50-$70 price point per entree, I am seeking more than good. The outside tables have a beautiful view, but the inside is a bit dark and more classic fine dining, which feels dated to me (millennial). I'd be interested in coming back and getting an outside table as a 2-4 person table, but I would recommend going elsewhere for groups of 6+. read more

Our Terrace Casita was incredible, the views at the resort were unmatched, we had incredible massages, the pool was relaxing, and the staff was so nice. I highly recommend you make an appt at their spa while you're here to make your stay even more worthwhile! I had a wonderful custom massage from Tara and my husband got a cupping massage. The hotel played host for a major milestone Birthday weekend celebration for close family & friends. Between the spa, restaurant bar, and overall accommodations, the resort did a fantastic job of meeting the needs of everybody. The bell desk was extremely helpful as far as golf cart driving to & from our suites and when it came time to set up and get the place popping, they were prompt and always willing to help no matter the request. On-demand service with an expected delay, but not significant enough to worry and they were able to turn over the needed suites prior to the check-in time which was critical in maintaining the surprise. Definitely looking forward to coming back again under "chill mode" conditions as we had an opportunity to relax and chill poolside (right outside of the suite & at the main pool... and this was in the beginning of March... how about that). The views (360) are great and the evening sky is beautiful This was all done during the pandemic and the staff seems to always put the safety of the guest (and themselves) as a priority. Giving it a one star because the kitchen never fails me! We had the wagyu burger and Parmesan truffle fries that did not disappoint. On the other hand.., our service was absolutely dreadful. It took over 20 minutes to even be addressed, then another 15 to get a drink. Christopher was our server, but he never actually introduced himself. The server assistant, Juliana, was far more attentive than him.. and due I say if she was our server our experience would have been quite different. We suggested that we were dissatisfied with our lack of attention during our lunch, but Christopher brushed off our feedback stating( verbatim), " I've been waiting 20 years for this! Trust me if you've been waiting as long as I have..". I am not entirely sure what he was implying by this statement, but I am definitely frustrated by his lack of acknowledgement and sensitivity to our un- timely and terrible experience. I have stayed here three times as a guest.. two of which have been within the past month, so my expectations were set to the high level they had already laid out for me. I suppose if you are not a guest, you should expect an entirely different level of service and treatment. This is the kind of experience that makes me never want to come back. read more

Wow, wow, wow is all that I can say! My girlfriends and I did a staycation here last weekend and it was incredible from the second I pulled up to Valet, to pulling out of the parking lot to go home. We were celebrating my girlfriend who's bachelorette in Tahoe was cancelled due to the times. We scored an awesome suite with INCREDIBLE views on a great summer special. It was perfect for 5 of us, with 2 queens and a pullout couch. Did I mention the views? You guys, it had 360 views of our gorgeous mountain ranges in the Valley. It really doesn't get better than this. The room wasn't quite ready when we arrived and we had some things that needed to be kept cool. The Valet team took incredible care of us! They not only stored it all in an air conditioned room, they delivered it to our room when it was ready. The thing that blew me away the most was their attention to taking Covid-19 precautions seriously. I got a safety kit upon arrival with and sanitizer, masks, and more. All of the employees were wearing masks - even the folks working the pool, in the heat! We felt so safe the entire time and are very grateful. Our room was spotless. We also ordered room service and everyone was SO friendly. I just can't say enough about this incredible hotel. They're doing all the things RIGHT! We'll for sure be back. This was our first time staying at Sanctuary, and we may have had our expectations set too high. The location is superb. Nestled in the base of Camelback, yet within minutes to everything you need. The room was nice, but getting a little worn out. Attention to some of the details was lacking. Scuffs on the wall and dust on the bar glasses. Judging from the decor, it's been a while since the rooms were designed. As far as other amenities, I would have liked a casual dining option. We ended up with room service for two nights, and I was impressed with how timely it came. The pool was nice. Service at the pool was a little slower, but it was over the holiday weekend. The spa was fine. Nothing spectacular. Overall, I think there are better options in the valley. read more

Tucked away in Paradise Valley, this place is very true to its name. My party of 3 arrived for a weekend getaway and felt the personalized touch of our reason for the visit. It was such a great experience from check-in, to check out. Parking was smooth and we never parked far from our room. They take care of so much via their text message system, it makes it a breeze to get serviced quickly, no matter the inconvenience. The Jade Bar and Elements restaurant is top-notch. The drinks are boozy, the food is tasteful and artistic, (also vegan, plant-based!) and no matter where you find a spot to snooze with the locals, you will get epic views. Friday and Saturday were busy, but it was not crowded. We ended up doing a spa day on a Sunday morning it was very relaxing. The custom massage was epic!! (I ended up getting cupped, which was a treat, and never had tried that before) The gym was equipped with everything and it was in tip-top shape. From the talented staff, from the front desk down to the cleaning crew--I have nothing but positive reviews from here. You can't go wrong on a resort with epic views and luxurious standards and it was incredibly quiet and relaxing. I am keeping this one bookmarked. Don't miss out on ordering poolside either. This is one of my favourite restaurants in the valley. TLDR: gorgeous views, good service, excellent food. Pricing: It's expensive, so be ready to pay 20-40 for an entree and 10-20 or even 30 for a drink-some of the high end wine glasses are that much. Mixed drinks around 12-15. Scenery: beautiful! Sit outside if you can, but they have huge floor to ceiling windows all around so it doesn't really matter too much where you sit, you'll still have a great view. Sunset is prime time over those mountains. Food: everything I've ever had there has been excellent, we recently tried brunch for the first time and I was not disappointed. The eggs Benedict are the best I've had. Everything is carefully crafted with great ingredients. The only thing I've had that wasn't great was the vegetarian dinner option-some sort of veggie bowl of I remember correctly, but it's not bad, just not as flavourful as the rest of the menu. Service: pretty good, attentive and full your water frequently. I would recommend this place for special occasions or celebrations due to the high price. Or their happy hour at Jade bar is a good way to try it while prices are a bit more reasonable. read more

My best friend and I decided to take a relaxing weekend trip to relax and unwind as well as celebrate our birthdays. We are so happy we picked this place. When we arrived, the amazingly friendly staff whisked us to our room in a golf cart. We had booked a Camelback Suite and were at the top of the property so we had AMAZING views. The room was gorgeous and had everything we could need. My favorite part was the massive shower that was so relaxing after a nice hike. The location is wonderful and so close to some of our favorite hikes. We ate at the Jade restaurant as well as at the pool and the food was incredible. I especially liked the tofu bento box. The pool/hot tub were fun and relaxing and we liked the complimentary yoga classes you could take. But the biggest reason for the 5-star review was the service. Every question or request we could possibly think of was answered with a smile and prompt service. We never felt that we were being an inconvenience because everyone was so friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. We truly felt at home. Absolutely love this place and can't wait to come back. read more

Amazing stay at Sanctuary! The stay was just perfect. I will be back very soon. Let's start with the staff... the valet guys, I didn't have to lift a finger from the moment I pulled up. They were very welcoming and courteous! The concierge were great and very helpful! They texted me throughout my visit to make sure everything was ok and if I had questions, I would just text them and they would respond promptly-amazing! The room-I had the spa casita that was within walking distance from everything. Very nice room and spacious. The tub was nice and the view from the tun was pretty cool. Next, food-great! The room service food was always fresh and the guys that delivered were so polite. I went to Elements and the server was super nice and helpful when picking out what to order. And even though I was dining solo, they gave me a great table with a perfect view to enjoy the sunset. When I returned to my room at night, they left me cookies on my pillow during turndown service; they were fresh and delicious! They also lit the candles, lowered the shades and made a relaxing atmosphere to return to. Housekeeping gets an A+! The spa-I enjoyed a full body massage and facial while I was there. The spa wasn't crowded. They gave me a tour of the spa and gave me a robe, slippers and water. The massage and facial were relaxing and the lady that did my facial was very knowledgeable (it was my first facial so I asked a lot of questions) and polite. Worth the money! Location-perfect spot for sunsets. I laid by the pool and watched the sunset then enjoyed the stars. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Truly a 5 star experience. You are immediately greeted by valet who opens your doors simultaneously to welcome you to the resort and provide guidance. (All were wearing masks and hand sanitizer was readily available at the valet stand.) Check-in was a breeze. What's great is that you can text the front desk with any questions, needs. Say you need fresh towels... you just text the front desk and they will send some. (Note, housekeeping - for the time being - during your stay is upon request only.) During check-in, they also provide extra face masks, individual wipes and small bottles of hand sanitizer. I love small, courteous details like this. (Also everyone inside the main building, restaurant, spa and really any building and throughout the grounds were wearing masks and keeping their distance from one another as much as they could.) Valet escorted us (in their golf cart) to our room (as we followed in our car.) Our room was quite lovely and spacious... I think it was a Spa Suite which is about 1000 sq ft... room 201... sitting/dining area plus a separate bedroom with 2 separate closets (his and hers).... and a lovely long balcony that ran the length of the room with 2 loungers outside the master plus a small table and chairs off the dining area. Very quiet... the grounds are fully grown and "lush" if you can use that word for a desert resort. There were full trees, bushes, plants everywhere to absorb sound and provide shade. The room itself was modern but you could tell that the 'bones' of it were 'old' but very well taken care of. This resort has been around for a while but has gone through many updates/refreshes. The bathroom had 2 sinks, a separate shower, soaking tub and toilet closet. The bathroom also had plenty of extra towels so there was no need to call housekeeping for fresh towels. And large toiletries so you didn't have to worry about running out. Two plush robes and 2 sets of slippers were also provided. The one thing I would have liked in the bathroom was more hooks to hang towels, bathing suits and a toiletry bag. Oh well. That's just me being picky! Parking was easy... there were 3 spots open right in front of our room. Now... when this place is fully booked, this might be problematic as I didn't see a lot of extra parking nearby. The pool while on the small side was very nice and serene. Lounge chairs were spaced out appropriately. All pool staff wore masks, we watched them sanitize chairs and tables after folks left. You are provided a lounger towel as well as a pool towel and a pitcher of ice water. Plus, they have sunscreen available if you need some. The pool temp was a tad brisk (we were there in November so it wasn't terribly hot out), but quite refreshing. The jacuzzi felt wonderful on my tight muscles after golfing. Service poolside was on-point. Everyone was so kind and timely! It was like they just knew when you needed something. I would definitely consider this an Adult resort. The rooms, grounds and pool are very Zen..... a place to go to relax, unwind and refresh. Not a boisterous, party place nor appropriate for kids. Room service was surprisingly quick! I ordered breakfast one morning thinking it would be 45-60 minutes to get our meal.... NOPE! They said we should be there in 20-25 minutes. AND they were! 20 minutes! It was quick and everything was plated nicely. They even came and cleared our breakfast without me having to call and request it. (Remember... no regular housekeeping right now so you have to call to request any services like trash pick up, fresh towels, ice refills...) The spa was probably one of the nicest spas I've ever been to. Not that I go to that many, but this was really nice, airy and spacious so you never felt like you were on top of each other. And they were spacing the appointments out so this helped too. All amenities were open... locker room, steam room, showers. The steam room was huge! Oh and they even had a 'quiet room' if you wanted to meditate or take a nap. A mask was required the entire time you were in the locker room, lounging... as well as during your service. Really no big deal. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and my therapist - Sanja (sp?) had magic hands. Maria in the locker room attendant was such a sweetheart! I'll review Elements separately. Overall..... LOVED OUR STAY! and Everything and Everyone we encountered! Definitely booking this resort and spa again! Looking forward to our next trip. We may make this an annual thing. read more

Extremely disappointed. At nearly $1k per night for a "King Spa" suite (after Arizona resident discount), you would think we would get to check in on time. We sat for two hours waiting for our room and didn't get checked in until after 6pm. They did offer to comp $200 towards my bill. However, I yet to confirm I have received this credit as I can't get them to email me a copy of my final bill. On to the room. The pictures of the king spa suite online are very deceiving. Room appears to be very private but it is the opposite. The adjoining rooms as well as rooms on the above tier have views onto your patio with the tub. Their are sheer curtains over each window in the living room that you can clearly see into from the walkways. Do not expect privacy of any kind. The "view" from the room out to the mountains is fine when sitting in the unit. However, if you are actually on the patio, you realize you are overlooking the parking lot. Also the day bed provided on the patio was flat out nasty and covered with multiple stains on the both the mattress cover and the pillows provided. I would not sit on that pre-covid. Pool side was nice and the cabana was reasonable at $200 for the day. Service pool side was also very good. The food at Elements was exceptional and worth the price. We would come back to the restaurant. However, I will say our waiter seemed very rushed like they were short staffed. We never got our fresh bread order and he never mentioned it again after offering to put in an order. With other luxury options such as the Four Seasons or The Phoenician, I will be skipping Sanctuary for my next hotel stay. read more

We went there tonite thinking we were going to a restaurant week event - the restaurant week listing did not clearly state that this restaurant was only doing breakfast and lunch. We were appropriately disappointed when we were told this was only a breakfast and lunch participation. No one offered any apologies for the lack of clarity and the manager on duty was one of the most arrogant condescending creatures I have ever encountered and I am in the hospitality industry. While we have been guests at this restaurant in the past, , we won't be going back again. While there was serious consideration of having our granddaughter's wedding reception there, the complete lack of respect for the customer has caused us to reconsider our options read more

We did a prepaid Mother's Day Brunch at Elements at the Sanctuary in Scottsdale or rather Pleasant Valley: a $300+ proposition. We made indoor reservations but on arrival they offered outdoor with a fantastic view. What they failed to stop and tell us is we would be in full sun on a 90 degree day. With no umbrella and full sun we quickly became overheated as did the guests around us and it was quite miserable by noon came around. The table tops were so hot in the sun you risked burning yourself if you placed your arm on it. The restaurant brought extra napkins to cover the table top. Not only that, despite guests alerting wait staff and servers to the sun and heat they never offered to move any of us inside. We determined that we absolutely had to get out of the sun. We and others retreated to the bar where our server ran us down with dessert and the check for drinks which were not included with the meal. We enjoyed a nice drink in the cooled air of the bar and had a relaxing finish. Our server was great and the food outstanding but these extra tables to host guests were a mistake on a hot day. So all in all the Element Restaurant has amazing food but the GM did not think through outside conditions. Ken C. read more

Stayed here this past weekend and had a wonderful time. I have been very cautious during the pandemic but my friend with an autoimmune disease came here a few weeks ago and also was able to enjoy herself. I can honestly say they are taking so many precautions and I felt safe the entire time. My friend and I enjoyed the spa and each got a massage. We wore masks the whole time but when we were face down, we pulled the mask down. The massage providers were lovely as well and the facility was perfectly clean. Tara was my provider and she was great! When we went to check in after the spa treatments the front desk area had clear plexi glass between the front desk agents and us. Andrew checked us in and was very friendly. He advised we would be in a Spa Casita and we were delighted! We were given a resort map and care package with masks and hand sanitizer in it, great touch! From there we went to the room which had a very modern entryway and it was quite large (650 sq ft). The closet was large with a nice seating area. They have USB and electrical plugs next to the beds which is very convenient for phone charging at night. There was also a Bluetooth speaker in the room. We went to the pool and Juan helped us out. He got us ready with towels and gave us the food and drink menu. All staff was wearing masks. We saw them spraying down the chairs and tables after each guest got up. It was religiously done, they were taking this so seriously. It was busy on a Saturday but the staff was doing all they could to keep things spaced out, but comfortable. We went back to the room and got ready, then went to Elements for dinner. Our server assistant was Pablo and the server was Sean. Sean has been at the property for 8 years and knew the menu very well. We decided to both do the special for the evening, sea bass. Pablo was attentive as well and made us feel comfortable. We sat close to the window in a booth, somewhat secluded from the rest of the restaurant. Loved the view, food and service! We were so full after champagne, calamari and the sea bass. We also got a complimentary dessert for my friend's birthday, but were stuffed afterwards. The portion sizes are much more than what I expected and I was definitely full afterwards. Next morning we went to Elements for breakfast where Joe and Joey (both very friendly) served us. We both got their Eggs Benedict and potatoes, it was SO delicious and the hollandaise was perfect. WHO SAID AZ ISNT GREAT IN THE SUMMER! 4 stars but a very close 5. The Sanctuary makes sure that relaxation is high on the list. The staff makes sure to accommodate you anyway they can at every turn. The accommodations were nice (we had a mountain suite king), spacious and clean. Nice attention to details (exfoliating pads, nespresso, bath salts and caddy for the tub, etc...). It was also nice to have two outdoor spaces. The grounds were pretty and clean. Definitely didn't feel like the desert. The food from "elements" was wonderful for each meal. Generous portions and strong cocktail pours. YOU HAVE TO TRY "the beca". That jalapeño bacon was out of this world and so was the seabass. The parts of the spa I experienced were enjoyable. I only used to steam room and hot tub (complimentary amenities) because the AZ heat had me stuffy. They also have these ice cold eucalyptus towels that my soul loved. Reason for 4 stars: 1.) The amount of flies in our room was irky AF. We didn't even use the patio much because they came in droves and it was a never ending fly fest. BUT they were slow fat flies, so they were pretty easy to kill. Lol 2.) Our patio sliding door was janky (probably a reason for the flies). 3.) The pool is incredibly quiet, like they barely wanted to play the music but got upset when I softly played my own (which was only noticed when the pool guy delivered drinks). Other than that, my stay was great and worth the cost of admission. So great that I didn't take a single photo...of anything . read more

The entire staff is clueless, including the management, they gave away my outdoor table at sunset on a birthday reservation made 4 days in advance to somebody else. On my reservation ticket it said outdoor seating very plainly and clearly, but once they give something away, it is gone. we ate 45 minutes later after blowing off some steam outdoors far away from the brainless staff. Last week there were two people in my car me and the sanctuary restaurant valet. I had just purchased two cute little pairs of cotton shorts that still had the tags on them which are now missing from my back seat. I also had a leather Ray-Ban glasses case suddenly disappear on the very same night. My complaint about my "missing" table was rewarded with two glasses of cheap Prosecco. After a long week of work in Tucson, hubby and I decided to treat ourselves to a luxury day and night before flying out of Phoenix Sky Harbor. We could not have been more pleased with our choice. The location and its views, amazing. Our room, comfortable, elegant, luxurious. The spa (massages and facials) terrific all around. We decided that we did not want to go driving around looking for restaurants, that assuming we liked it, we would eat all of our meals at Elements. We had 2 lunches, dinner and breakfast and they were all terrific (an aside, we had to ask for a breakfast menu on Sunday morning, all they brought us was the brunch menu which doesn't have many breakfast items). Jade bar offered some unusual cocktails which were fun and tasty. The most memorable was one that had a small amount of carrot juice added to give it a delightful orange color. The staff were all terrific, always ready to help and to make our stay easy and memorable. Depending on the location of your room, parking can be quite a distance from the entrance, restaurant, bar spa, etc and they provide service with small carts so you don't have to walk in 105 degree weather and we never waited more than a few minutes for one to appear. This just became one of our favorite places to stay. Pricey, but worth it. We will have to return to Tucson to finish up our work there, and already decided that we will go for a repeat experience. read more

The staff here is awesome! Definitely worth the price. We got the cyber sale so we got lucky! We actually ended up extending our stay because we loved it. The only thing is we have to call to get ice in our room. We did have a fridge and bar but no ice! Definitely coming back!! read more

There are no words. I needed peace and quiet after a very long journey by car from LA. The beautiful room overlooking paradise valley, with fireplace and separate bedroom and the bathroom all amounted to pure bliss. The soaking tub and shower were wonderful. Having stayed in many 5 star hotels I can honestly say this is at the top of the list for me. I could not believe the room service for dinner. The food was outstanding and hot and delicious.
