I was constantly driving by this coffee shop & finally had the urge to go inside. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of space this shop has. Definitely a great place to study, meet with a group, and just hang out. The baristas were very nice providing us with honest thoughts about the different drinks we had questions on. The coffee was absolutely perfect! Both coffees were perfectly balanced with the flavors and the hidden notes in the espresso. Good location, but after two terrible experiences, I will never return. I accidentally spilled some water and asked for a cloth to clean it up. I was pointed to thin paper napkins and she told, "It's right there." I explained that paper napkins were not enough so asked her again for a cloth, only to be told roughly, "We don't have it." A coffee shop without a cleaning clothes? On another visit, I ordered black tea but was served flavored tea instead. They usually know what the black tea is. When I politely told the staff who made a flavor tea, she glanced at it a moment and said, "This is our black tea," The customer service to everyone or to only me? The moment I entered, great friendly service. So many great suggestions. I went with the macadamia coconut iced latte half sweet. It was amazing!! The first thing about this coffee that I love is that they are non-profit! I just love that they are contributing back to the community. I wanted to grab a quick coffee before heading home after trail run at Marshall Canyon. It is located next to Sprouts Market with plenty of parkings and small shops. The coffee shop is spacious and plenty tables and chairs to sit and enjoy. I see a lot of people bring their laptops to work. Their menu is simple, coffee, matcha, tea , also some non caffeinated drinks. I got the Coffee of the month which is the Banana cream cold brew. Oh it was yummy! The barista who took my order were very patient and friendly because I took some time to decide. Someone actually recommended the dirty chai and said it's the BEST. I used to go to this coffee shop when it was across the street years ago, I hadn't gone back in so long, I noticed they moved here to this location...just as big and always clean! Customer service was great. I was so sad to hear that if they don't fundraise a certain amount, they will have to shut down end of May, since the landlord increase the rent! Hopefully everyone as a community can contribute a bit to help a good cause...anyhow, I ordered a dirty chai and a cinnamon scone and my friend ordered a matcha. My dirty chai was excellent! Sanctuary Coffee is such a gem -- and even better, it's a non-profit café where 100% of the profits support charities and local communities. That alone makes it worth visiting, but the experience itself was just as great. I ordered one of their drinks of the month (July), the Blue Rose Sweet Tea, and it was delicious -- refreshing and not overly sweet. The staff was super friendly, and the bathroom was clean, which I always appreciate. Surprisingly, it wasn't too busy for a Saturday morning around 11am. This place is cute inside but it's very pricey for what you get. I got the Spanish latte with oat milk and it was $8 and some change. It only has ONE shot of espresso which is crazy for $8. I absolutely love this shop, what they stand for and the quality coffee. Since my mornings are very fast paced and I want to make sure I grab a coffee from sanctuary before I go into work, I always try calling their number first thing in the morning but their number never works. When I come in and ask if their phones are down, depending on who is working, I'll get different answers but it never fails when I ask "so if ordering ahead of time possible?" they reply with "you can always call ahead" I find that frustrating. I also notice that the customer service is much better when the girl barista is behind the counter-- I don't recall her name but ever time I come and I see her she takes care of my usual order and I feel really good vibes from the store in general. I love the vibe of this place and love to support our small coffee businesses however they can significantly improve the dirty chai. My iced dirty chai was 2/10, the barista made it so rushed when there was no line behind me, and it tasted really bad, bitter, and way too milky hiding the espresso notes. The milk wasn't event mixed in well, and I had to put Starbucks creamer in it when I got home for it to taste decent. Found Sanctuary when I was looking for a local coffee shop with good reviews. Sanctuary is down the street from my parent so off I went. The inside is cozy and clean, staff is friendly, they have a decent sized menu with coffee and tea drinks (which I plan on trying next visit) and their pastries look delicious! Drinks: 3/5 Espresso had good flavor with bright and fruity notes. The vanilla latte was very milky and not my favorite. I ordered the green pear iced tea and I don't think they steeped it for long enough because it was extremely watered down when I got it. Atmosphere: 3/5 Lots of seating which was nice for working. Music was pretty loud and not very conducive for studying. I would bring headphones. Mission: 4/5 I like that this place is a non-profit and they seem to have good values. Ive read a few great reviews from fellow Yelp Elite friends and find it very interesting, now I see why. It's definitely a wonderful & fabulous spot to have your caffeine fix, work or just chill. They even offer a boat load of board games (1980's nostalgia for sure); Monopoly, Scrabble, Battleship, Sorry, Balderdash, Clue, Yahtzee, etc. It's fairly quiet & the atmosphere is very comfortable. There's a fairly large conference room that is sealed off & you need to reserve in advance to utilize. I think it can seat about 10-12 people. When you enter the coffee shop, it goes pretty deep, about a dozen or so tables & chairs, plus a few sofas/couches. It's well thought out. Our lattes were made in a timely manner snd the staff are attentive & friendly. Hubby & I were thanked as we left. The 2 lattes were a bit pricey, close to $14, added oat milk was $1.30 each). Good service, excellent coffee. They are in some financial difficulty because landlord raised the rent, and they donate profits to charity (I've checked this out with a guy who is knowledgeable and they actually do this). They are worth supporting for this reason also. When I was there on March 3 they didn't have decaf coffee, so if this is a dealbreaker for you, you should ask before coming. But, as other reviewers have noted, the place is welcoming, they have a variety of snacks and drinks, and they're an asset to the Pomona Valley. read more

Pssst...they have stellar top shelf artisan blend iced teas. Sanctuary coffee, perched in Claremont, is a non profit coffee shop. According to them, they give about ten pounds of food for every one pound of coffee they sell, to donate to local food charities. They have some of my favorite artisan tea blends. I get excited when I visit and I always seem to order one of their top shelf iced teas--a whimsical experience. I enjoyed the apricot escape my last visit as it was quite lovely. I'm happy to report that the teas here just hit different. They offer a plethora of different coffees from classic to speciality. They have a small tray of baked goods and tend to have a few vegan options. The coffee shop has a unique design and lounging options inside/outside. Friendly vibes and a clean safe space. Their mission is to advocate for social justice in three areas: (Posted in the shop & their website): 1- They pay the coffee farmer an ethical wage to improve the global market and fight human trafficking. 2- Ten pounds of food are donated to local food pantries for every pound of coffee. 3- All of their profits are given to charities in Claremont and surrounding communities. I ordered Caramel Turtle Latte and my friend got crème brûlée. We had also mini cherry pie and chocolate croissant. The drinks were very refreshing and silky. The chocolate croissant was very flaky and delicious. The mini Cherry pie had  the perfect crust and the cherry was fresh and decadent. This is the best mini cherry pie I have ever tried. Before I left, I bought three different flavors of mini pies. They had; cherry, blueberry and apple to enjoy them at home. I am glad I did! The three flavors are very indulgent with perfect crust and filling. Although I am usually not a fan of cherry pie, but Sanctuary proved me wrong and cherry pie became my favorite! There's outdoor seating in front and a little patio in the back and indoor seating near windows, indoor seating more conducive for meetings/concentration, indoor seating more casual for hanging out with a friend (or friends), and a big conference room available for reservation. Also, the service was pretty quick and the staff was nice. The barista made good recommendations based on my taste preferences, and my drink came out fast. There's plenty of options, and you can order for here or to go coffee or matcha as well as pastries. My creme brulee latte was $6.47 with tax and a good size. The flavor was the perfect amount of sweet, had a good ratio of coffee to milk, and the roast wasn't too bitter. They just don't have straws, so be cognizant when ordering. Would be a great place to hang out, but they close and kick everyone out at 4:30 p.m. every day -- despite advertising online and on their social media that they are open until 5 p.m. The first time I was there and they made several announcements starting at 4 p.m. that they would close at 4:30, I thought it was a one-time thing. But when I was there again more recently, and they did the same reminders/announcements starting at 4 p.m., I asked if they were going to go back to staying open until 5 p.m. in future, and the response was that they *take online orders unitl 5 p.m. -- but the cafe part of the cafe closes at 4:30. * I suggest they correct the information online to reflect the reality, or just stay open until 5 as advertised. ---- ** I appreciate the prompt reply, and I suggest you let your baristas (who cleared everyone by 4:30) know that you are open until 5. read more
