I finally got a chance to check out this student-lead coffee shop within Scripps College. The place was very lively and filled with students. It is located within a courtyard so student where coming and going as I was waiting to order. I grabbed a hot vanilla latte and a decaf cappuccino. The vanilla latte was fine. No complaints from my boss about her cappuccino. Only reason for the less-than-perfect rating was that it felt a little disorganized and messy in the lobby. There was a lot going on and a lot of things all over the place and it was a little hard to take it all in when entering. I look forward to trying some of their seasonal drinks soon.

Came here for a little pick me up today since I didnt sleep well. Got the nitro coffee sweetened with vanilla and some half and half. Taste pretty good as far as nitro goes maybe next time I'll sweeten it more aggressively. Workers are friendly and you get your coffee fast. I like that they offer a bring your own mug option to make it cheaper even if I couldn't take advantage of that today it probably benefits all the nearby students who frequent the shop.

The Motley has a special place in my heart. It's the perfect combination of cozy, welcoming, and energetic. There are a few different seating options (communal table, couch, smaller tables, on the stage...and more) and it is a great place to socialize, work, or just relax. My all time favorite drink is the bowl of soul with coconut creme tea (hot). It originally comes with Earl grey (I think) but the coconut tea adds a sweet flavor that I personally enjoy. The tea steeps in hot soy milk and is flavored with honey and cinnamon. Drinking it truly feels like "a bowl of soul". It's great on a cold or rainy day and it always lightens my mood. Highly recommend! In the summer, I really like the get the "make your own smoothie". It is especially good with granola and honey! Tastes like a blended fruit bowl! It's amazing. A crowd favorite is also the matcha cha cha which is just a matcha latte (hot or cold). You can also tell them to add different flavors to it! I've heard the white chocolate syrup is good with that. Another yummy treat to try is their bagels (+cream cheese)!! I don't know what it is, but the bagels at the motley are delicious. You can toast them up yourself on the counter to the right of the cashier. I personally like the cinnamon raisin or blueberry but they have many many sweet and savory flavors. They also have a student bake-off every semester where the winners get to sell their goods in store. These are often very very good so definitely worth a try if you see it in the display case!

Ambiance/Environment: They have a large space with plenty of indoor seating. They have two rooms - one for studying and the other for social. It's very clean inside. Great spot to get some work done or even chill. They also sell their own beans! All merchandise are located in the main room! Service: The cashier that assisted us was nice and personable. Throughput was quick after ordering. Drinks: I decided to try their seasonal drinks for the summer, and my sister decided to try their stable drinks. 1) Bonfire Mocha - This mocha contains house made marshmallow syrup, cocoa powder, crush honey graham crackers, milk, and topped with a marshmallow cream top. It's definitely sweet with rich chocolate and marshmallow flavors. You can definitely taste all the ingredients described. I prefer the marshmallow cream top to be a bit thicker, considering it is marshmallow after all. 2) Chai Latte - My sister thought her drink was okay. Mind you, this is her first time trying chai lol. I took a sip of her drink, and the cinnamon and cardamom flavors were strong. It's a bit sweeter than I prefer, but it can always be adjusted. Pricing: A bit more than average. They offer rewards through Cash App. I'd visit once in a while to try their other drinks and pastries.

Coworker's Paradise in North Pomona! (sorry if it sounds like I'm writing a Zillow listing, but I'm…read morejust trying to get this to show up in search results if anyone else is curious LOL) OUTLETS: Plenty of outlets!!! There's a set of steps with pillows on each step with a block of about six outlets beside them, and a really comfy, sinky couch (plus an ottoman and two comfy looking armchairs and a big table in the middle) with a set of two outlets on the wall and a star shaped power strip sticking out of the ground with six outlets coming out of it. There are also regular tables and it seems like there are outlets beside them as well. WIFI: The wifi is open (no password necessary), even though they have a password listed where you pick up your food (it's just Sanctuary Coffee). I tried to use one of the locked ones (the only one that made sense), but the wifi password didn't work, so I'm not sure why they have one listed. Regardless, albeit not the fastest wifi I've ever used, it's incredibly doable. I have been working remote here for 1.5 hrs and had almost no issues. MENU: For LA, relatively cheap. I am not a coffee or tea drinker, so I got the peach Italian soda, which was yummy. I believe it was about $4.89, which is not bad at all. I went to And Destroy in the Highland Park-ish area, and I believe an Italian soda with cream (cream is free here) was maybe $7-8. I'm used to paying more for drinks because the specialty (non coffee and tea) drinks are usually pricey, but this was one of the cheapest things on the menu. Also, you can claim a free pastry with your email and first name on their website (it sends you a voucher, just show the email). I got the banana bread, which was fine. I would've gotten zucchini, but it wasn't chocolate chip zucchini. ATMOSPHERE: Not too loud, the music is nice and chill and not very loud. There's cute art on the walls and homey looking lamps. It's the quintessential living room coffee shop, perhaps even rivaling Republik Coffee in Burbank in comfiness, noise level, aesthetic, and price (which is a bummer, because I likely will never be back - we just happened to be in North Pomona today, and I have no idea when we'd ever elect to drive this far again LOL). PARKING: It's in a little strip mall, so there's an actual aboveground lot with plenty of free parking (at least I think it's free, I got dropped off so I didn't pay much attention). Overall, I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking to cowork in a cozy atmosphere for relatively cheap in the North Pomona area. It checks all of my boxes except distance from home. I hope this review helps someone, because I always try to find this information on Yelp about new places to visit and it can be very difficult to find! BATHROOM: I believe there are two single person bathrooms like not stalls just one bathroom. Cute art and aesthetic inside, there are hooks on the walls for your stuff. The air dryer was not very strong and there were no paper towels or seat covers, but other than that there was a nice faucet and cute nice soap like homey soap you'd see in someone's house, and the lock worked fine.

It's not awful, but it tastes frugal. I arrived at Almond Haus Cafe (Claremont) on Sunday (around 12:20PM). Parking is easy. The lot is very big. My immediate impression of the location's interior is "abandoned warehouse." There's cardboard boxes lying about; the lights are dim & gloomy; and the furniture & walls looked old and poorly maintained. There were no customers, other than myself. Staff zipped out from the back when I'd entered. There's no self-service kiosks, so customers order at the counter. Staff is friendly and welcoming. After receiving my drink, Staff vanished into the back for the entire time. The drink took one minute and six seconds. Fast!! As mentioned, the Brown Sugar Milk Tea ($5.50) with Boba (additional 79 cents) is not awful. It's big, cheap, and thirst-quenching. Although the boba lacked any perkiness, I did appreciate its very small sweetness. Concerning the ambiance, it felt sad. Chairs had mysterious black stains, dust & webs gripped the windows' corners, yellow & aged plants lazed about, and lights stayed dimly lit like a haunted house. However, there's utility. Almond Haus Cafe (Claremont) has six electrical outlets. There's also customer internet with password; details on the plastic countertop. And there's a restroom for customers. In addition, the floors and tables are fairly clean. Overall, Almond Haus Cafe (Claremont) feels like a forgotten relic of time. At the very minimum, it's an adequate establishment. If you're searching for affordability and a place to study/work, there's potential. 3.3 out of 5
