We finally made it to the Palm Valley Fish Camp. It was a late lunch at 2:00. We didn't use the free valet parking. There were spaces available. We were greeted immediately, after a pit stop at the bathrooms, which are conveniently located in the lobby. We were able to get a corner table which had a pretty view of the St John River. There are tables outside, but it was hot and humid and annoying flies. Our charming waitress was Jennifer H. She timed everything perfectly. The Windstorm Chardonnay was good. Rick's Soup was tasty, and we both enjoyed the Salmon BLT. One was blackened and the other fried. The desserts were tempting, but no room for them. Went last night for dinner. We come back every few years when we are in Jacksonville. The peel n eat pink Argentine shrimp are AMAZING!! We shared the seafood boil for 2 and there was way more than enough for both of us. The dish was seasoned delightfully and nothing was left over. Service was spotty last night and we constantly ran out of drinks and had to flag down someone for refills. Parking is atrocious and has only gotten worse over the years. You are pretty much forced to valet due to the extremely small lot. Don't let the parking keep you away, the food is 5 star despite a weak showing by staff last night. Having dinner at Palm Valley FishCamp was very delicious! We had reservations at 6:30 and we arrived 15 minutes early and we didn't have to wait to be seated. Great staff. Main dining was pretty tight and even felt that our table was too close to the other table. Our server Alex was knowledgeable and gave up the perfect suggestion to try that night! Outside sitting was available with fans going. This restaurant is by the water with a dock available -if you want to arrived by your boat. Free valet parking available! They are open for lunch too. I really couldn't believe my bill when I saw reasonable prices for a large portions, fresh fish and friendly service inside and outside seating options for when it's warm windy rainy drive your boat up if you want to drive your car up if you want it is tight parking, though I would strongly suggest making reservations. Was here last Sunday, got a picnic table out on the water with lovely river view (they have umbrellas but they don't adjust so you might be baking in the hot sun). Service was friendly and efficient. Came here to celebrate my sweet mom's birthday! We made a reservation online ahead of time (it's a good thing we did, because even for a 12pm lunch, they were slammed). When we arrived, we saw that the main parking lot was full, so we parked in the overflow lot (it's the old LuLu's parking lot). BTW parking at Palm Valley is valet, so be sure to bring some cash to tip! When we arrived, we gave our name and were shown a nice indoor table in the corner with large windows, so we could still enjoy the beautiful view. Our server came up, took our drink order and told us about their specials that day. TBH the specials all sounded delicious. At our table, we started with an app of fried calamari, my sister and I both got their red fish sandwich special, which had an avocado smash, and we both swapped out the french fries for grits, my dad got the fish tacos, and my mom got their fried clams. Our calamari came out quickly. I love their calamari, it's not heavily fried, there's a light batter, and the dipping sauce has a bit of a kick to it. When our entrees came, they looked plentiful. The red fish sandwich was perfectly blackened and I liked the fresh addition of the avocado smash. My dad really enjoyed his fish tacos and my mom really liked her clams. We couldn't leave without celebrating a birthday with dessert. We split two pieces of their peanut butter pie. We were here seven years ago, loved it, so while visiting we came back. The menu has a lot of shell fish and fish. I like oysters so I chose the Virginia oysters. There wasn't much to them. Next time I'll try the smaller ones from Massachusetts. The Brook trout I ordered was lightly fried. Was a nice portion and very good. Hubs ordered the boiled seafood sampler. Was very nice. Arrived on Valentines Day and the parking was a bit tricky but the valets handled it nicely. We were a little early for our reservation and was seated right on time. Our server was very friendly and attentive without rushing us or being intrusive. Unfortunately I can't remember his name! It was a bit busy when we arrived but soon filtered out and conversations were easy to hear. We started with the split Greek salad that was delicious! The greens were fresh and the dressing was very tasty! My husband had the shrimp andouille gumbo which he said was perfect! I chose the NY strip steak with a brandy demi sauce, fresh sautéed cauliflower/carrots onions vegetables and the perfectly cooked fries! My steak was cooked just as I had requested however it was heavily salted. Other than that it was delicious. My husband had the house Merlot and I chose the Ferrari Carano Sauvignon Blanc. It's hard to say enough good things about this place. All of the food was amazing and so fresh! The atmosphere was cozy with a nice view outside looking out over the water. The service was also excellent! Even though we came here on a Saturday afternoon when it was very busy, everything came out faster than expected and cooked perfectly! I've been coming here for 6 years and have always had great food. Tonight was no exception. I've also had great service over the years but tonight was the exception. I did bring it to the servers attention & a supervisor came to our table & apologized. I thought that would be the end of it but she took our appetizer off of the bill. This shows that PVFC does care about the service they provide. Not just that the item was taken off of the bill but that someone was truly interested and spoke with us about the issues. Malia our server was very sweet and a joy (she took the time to explain the menu along with the history of the fish camp). Needed reservations due to the Players Championship just a few steps away. We had reservations for 4 on a Wednesday night. They have valet parking, which they ended up parking our car right up front near the valet stand. We were seated indoors right away and ordered drinks. We perused the menu and ordered a dozen oysters from Canada as an appetizer. I'm told they were very tasty. We had a couple of glasses of red wine and some beer on tap. Always a five star dining experience! Yes, one of the best things about this establishment is that it's located on the beautiful Roscoe Road and also on the river with gorgeous views. I'll start here. There are tables outside to the side of the restaurant under a tent if you want to sit outside, but not in the sun. There's also seating inside the restaurant. If you walk a little out, there will be picnic tables you can sit on or even a little further out, but not far, they have a deck over the water where you can sit in a nice chair and have a glass of wine and watch the sunset. Beautiful views. Interesting to watch the tide high or the tide low depending on what time of year you go. This is probably one of my favorite restaurants. I love the casual but upscale atmosphere and the food is always wonderful. You will not be disappointed in anything they serve and their servings are large. They have a great wine list and a full bar. Their desserts are great also! The waiters are always funny and friendly, but also professional. Their seafood is fresh fresh! Parking here is a little different. They have a very small parking lot. My recommendation is to just drive to the front and let the valet person park your car. It's worth the few bucks. If you don't have cash, they always take Venmo, at least usually. Give him your keys and don't worry about a thing. Although the place is quite busy and there are limited parking spots, you are able to make a reservation on Resy and use their free valet services. We ordered oysters, octopus salad, and fried gator tails for appetizers and they were fantastic. Especially the fried gator tails. I expected them to be slightly dry but honestly they taste just like chicken bites made from thigh meat. We had the low boil for 2 for our mail and the portion size was huge!
