Had sanders out to look at a small plumbing issue. Gave me a quote of 850 bucks which i said never mind. So i had to pay 94 bucks for the service call which i find unprofessional. Called out a licensed plumber who first has free estimates and he did the job for a total of 220 bucks Since i am not very good with plumbing I believe Sanders tried to rob me. I will never ever call this company again and i would advise others to look elsewhere before even considering Sanders Home Services. read more

Over the past several weeks, I have had the professionals from Sanders Home Builders in my home completing major restoration work resulting from two unfortunate water damage incidents-- one on the lower level of my home and the second in my kitchen. I could not be more pleased with the quality of work and the professionalism of all craftsmen, office staff and the designer involved in the projects. The Contract Manager, Bill Abrams, is an exceptional individual. His oversight of the various restoration tasks assured that all work was completed at the highest standards. His crew and craftsmen were as skillful as any I have ever seen. I received a telephone call every morning from the Sanders office staff informing me that the Technicians were on the way to my house, allowing me time to prepare for their arrival. The workday started daily at 8:00 am. At the end of the day, the Technicians photographed their completed work and cleaned up the work area. At the end of the project, the Contract Manager had his wife make me a "old school" Banana Pudding. She also shared her homemade recipe for Ice Tea! As a single homeowner, Bill Abrams showed me every courtesy, offered me suggestions when needed, and assured that I was satisfied with every aspect of their work. I recommend them highly. C.G. Negative (10) stars! AVOID this company if you value your hard-earned money. Takeaway: $900 to fix (2) leaky faucets. No way, you say? Read on. I saved up $50K for a total kitchen and bath renovation. I've rehabbed 4 homes, and finally, wanted to have my dream kitchen and bath in what will likely be our final home. What a mistake. They came and talked my not bright husband into BUYING new faucets for our leakey kitchen and bathroom faucets -- versus merely fixing the leaky faucets. I had told my husband to let them fix the leaky faucets while giving us a quote for the larger renovation job. Why would I BUY new faucet sets in the short term to fix a leak when what I want to do is a complete renovation? Spoke to the owner, Pete, and was told it's not his fault that my husband agreed to go ahead with the faucets. Guess what? My $50K renovation is now going to a company we can trust. read more

I only post reviews for exceptionally good or bad service. Happy to say this is an instance of exceptionally GOOD service. I just had Sanders complete an entire replacement of my Heating and A/C system. It was time as the A/C kept breaking every couple of weeks. From the initial phone call to Dave and then the initial visit from Jim, all the way through to the completion of work by a team of three, (John P, John M, Pete) the crew was professional, open to answer all of my questions, and very friendly. The work they performed was exceptional. They went above and beyond the work estimate while sticking to their original quote in order to get the job done right. They even reinstalled my (originally self-installed) whole house humidifier and Nest Thermostat (I had a new thermostat wire run for prior to the install), and they did it right! For the whole house humidifier which I originally put in, they took my flexible drain hose out and wrapped the heater in PVC pipes from the humidifier into a condensation pump. They also took the time to move and redo plumbing and gas lines as needed. The air intake HVAC in the basement was redone in such a way to try to have the upstairs pulling in air more evenly with the downstairs. This took thought and consideration. They even gave me a large vent magnet to cover my downstairs intake in increments to fine tune how much air gets pulled from the first vs second floor. Finally, they took care to complete the job with an attention to detail, using 45 degree transitions into the main HVAC from the heater instead of a straight 90 degree insertion which is what was there before. These guys are pros inside and out, and my experience with them was great. I will be recommending them to everyone who asks for this type of work. read more

We recently had Sanders come out for a job and the plumbing division was exceptional. They were true professionals at every turn. The hvac division....not so much. AFTER coming out to the job site and telling us it would be no problem...he never delivered on the price quote...then cancelled on the job. The first reason was he had no idea what anything looked like. After we conviently reminded him he had come to the job site to see the work...he rudely explained his next reason was he was too busy and it couldnt be done. Basically just seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. Again I'd give the plumbing division 5 stars and would recommend them to anybody. But the hvac doesn't deserve one star. If you call them for a project...id steer clear of their hvac. read more

We had a horrible experience with their electrician Mike. We called and scheduled for them to change out 2 kitchen lights and ceiling fan and also remove ceiling fan in the master bathroom and replace with a normal fan (which we had already purchased). This appointment was confirmed several times that it was an appointment and not an estimate. We took off work early and waited a few hours for them to show up. When they finally got there he said he was there for an estimate. Needless to say, I wasn't happy to hear that. When I told him that it was a scheduled appointment, he got a nasty attitude and said that he had an earlier job and couldn't do everything. So we comprised and eliminated the bathroom fan and went with just the kitchen. He came back with an outrageous charge. Unfortunately since we were in a time crunch, we went it. They were there about 2 hours. The big kitchen light wasn't on right and was loose. I asked him to check it, which he said it was fine. Of course, when he went to check it, it almost fell apart. i saw a lot of reviews on yelp but i thought i will give them a chance. I asked them to come and do pressure test for water and heat and fix some pipes. Guess what? they charged me overprice. i paid almost 1200$ (pressure test and fix some leak + sheetlock cutting cost 45$!!! After that They gonna leave the hole on the sheetrock ceiling if you don't pay them to put it back and customer service is terrible !!!! Never again ! read more

The plumbing division is 5 stars! If I could give them 10 stars, I would. But I couldn't give a full five to Sanders because of the HVAC division. They said they couldn't complete this bathroom project because they are too busy, so now I have to find another company which sort of screws my contractor, who referred them. The HVAC portion was discussed when I began this project. Of course, because of how proficient the Plumbing division was, I would have liked Sanders to do every aspect of the heating for that side of the house, but Dave, the HVAC manager, said Sanders was too busy to help, and even though he saw the room a week earlier and promised to provide me an estimate, he never called. So I called Sanders after Rich the plumber finished up, but Dave told me he didn't even know if he could move the 3 feet of baseboard heat for us to complete our bathroom, and it may even be impossible. I now must find another company to reroute the 3 feet of baseboard where the shower will be and perhaps install a Split or wall unit for heat and AC, or redo the baseboard heating in both rooms, or also install a heated floor under the tile as Dave and I discussed on his initial visit before he got so busy. HVAC division aside, I just wanted to express my sincere gratitude towards the men who completed the new bathroom plumbing and sewer pipe replacement. As a homeowner, the prospect of sewer replacement is something nightmarish, especially coupled with adding in a second bathroom and laundry room. Rich and Max were true professionals. They made this situation bearable; exacting care and concern where others may not have. I felt with Rich in charge, I was in very capable hands. They were amiable, explained everything in great detail, were clean and although I am no plumber, I believe they did an outstanding job in my house. Rich and Max were even careful with my cat, so he wouldn't escape. I am 100% satisfied with their work. They truly went above and beyond, so RICH AND MAX and ALL THE PLUMBING GUYS GET 10 STARS ON YELP! THANK YOU, RICH! THANK YOU, MAX! I know it wasn't an easy job, but you guys kicked butt, and for that, I would refer Sanders Plumbing Division to anyone. read more

Honestly, I think some of these reviews sound like they are talking about a totally different company. From the folks that took my call to the technicians that came out to my home, everyone was courteous, thorough, and meticulous. I had several jobs done during the Covid crisis, and the workers all wore masks and were very conscientious about distancing. The work was exactly as agreed upon. Price was reasonable, and service was prompt. What more could you ask for? This is a company that provides many types of service, so I suppose your experience may vary with the workers that come to your home, but after three jobs completed here, I am very satisfied. read more

Writing this review in March for work/diagnosis done in December. Waited this long to write this to make sure Sanders is just trying to rip me off. There was no water hearer in my house so I made an appointment for them to check it out. They came to a conclusion that It needed cleaning plus replacement of some parts which would cost as much as just replacing the whole system. I was shocked. My water heater is 4 yrs old but the technician said THAT'S HOW IT IS WHEN YOUR WASHER DRYER IS IN THE SAME ROOM AS THE WATER HEATER AND HVAC. That's weird because when I lived at my parent's house since I was a kid there were no issues like he mentioned and it's the same set up as my house now. All in one room. Highly professional company. Called PSEG due to leak in hot water tank and they informed me the contractor will contact me the next day. Sure enough, 8am a rep from Sanders called and I told them the info and she quoted me some prices for diff models and if I'm still ok someone will come within the hour. An hour came and Chris (technician) came and accessed the tank. He was very courteous and wore slip ons to go down in the basement. He then offered me some other work to be done which I okayed some. He was very good at his job and did it all by himself (flushed tank, took it away , got new tank, etc...). When work was done, he proceeded to tell me how to use the new tank. We had ongoing sewer issues at our home and had gotten the run-around from other companies. We finally contacted Sanders. They were quick to respond and Jim was up front, tidy and professional on both service calls. We finally needed to replace both the sewer and water lines and Sanders gave us the best price so we went with them and the work was done in one day, they left the basement clean and hardly disturbed anything outside of the work area in the front yard. My daughter called your company on New Year's Eve day due to a toilet overflow and flood. We, the homeowners, were out of town. We paid an extra fee as it was a holiday, which we totally understand. We spoke to the plumber over the phone. The toilet was filled with feces and the plumber who was here presented a plan to find out why the toilet overflowed and to mitigate the problem. He said we had to wait until the next day for him to do that. He was going to come back the next day when we returned from our trip. In order to move forward the plumber would need to plunge the toilet to remove the feces. HOWEVER, he left the feces in the toilet overnight! We had people and animals in the house that had to contend with the smell of feces throughout the house. When asked why he did this he said,"I was going to come back tomorrow to finish the job." REALLY!!!!, is it normal to leave a feces-filled toilet full of poop for over two days! Turns out our flight was delayed and subsequently canceled so we didn't get back until a day later, so there the feces-filled toilet sat for 48 hours! I understand that the plumber might not have wanted to spend New Year's Day taking care of this problem though that is his/her job. At the very least, he could have removed the feces immediately and tended to the rest of the issues on another day. As we were quite upset that a plumber would do that, we hired another plumber who came out, roto-routered the toilet, which took less than 10 minutes, and installed a new toilet. It cost about $500. Your company wanted double that for the same work and same model toilet. Our experience with Sanders was very poor customer service and it did not leave us confident that you would do what was in our best interests. read more

I recently bought a house and noticed the hot water heater was 17 years old. It worked, but not sure for how long. I called 4 different HVAC providers in the area. One of them got back to me within a reasonable amount of time, but was ready to just throw a number at me, Sanders got back to me within 2 hours, and the other 2 (to date) never got back to me. Sanders didnt want to throw a number at me and wanted to audit the heater and the area it was in to give the right quote and ensure they included any code changes necessary. The woman on the phone was knowledgable about their services and very easy to talk to. They came out the next day and did an estimate and were very professional. Their estimator was uniformed, polite, and very detail oriented. He explained why my old heater lasted as long as it did (good water in the area, low temp usage), and was definitely time to replace it due to age. He recommended a tray and overflow pipe to prevent flooding in my home in case it did fail, and also pointed out some code changes that they had to make (larger exhaust pipes, etc). When I decided to move forward with Sanders, they took care of EVERYTHING. I didnt have to deal with permits (they did it), came out quickly, and did great work. The install team was professional and great guys to chat with. They did very precise and clean work and cleaned up their mess entirely. The connections were clean, the welds were spotless, overall they did fantastic work. Would HIGHLY recommend Sanders for any and all HVAC and plumbing needs read more

***UPDATE*** 4/13/17 Pete Sanders (assuming one of the owners) called me directly and provided a sincere apology on the service that was performed and the way I was treated. He assured me this is not how they operate and stated he did reprimand the technician and service manager for their lack of complete diagnostic and bogus estimate. In addition, he stated he will be providing a full refund for the service call and diagnostic charge. Not many companies would have taken the time to call a customer directly (he even provided his personal cell) to offer an apology and even go as far as providing a refund. I could sense the frustration in his voice about what occurred. That goes to show that he really does care about how his customers are treated and wants to ensure the highest level of satisfaction. This company should not be dinged for an unfortunate incident or a few bad apples (I was referred by someone who highly recommended them) and I will be keeping them in mind for future service needs. 3/20/17 Absolute CROOKS. I clearly explained my problem with my Water Heater over the phone and what needed to be done. They said they needed to send a technician out ($90 fee) to do a diagnostic (another $40 fee). Fine no problem you needed to see the issue in person. Well the "diagnostic" took a whopping 3min in which the technician was able to tell what the problem was. Even though I showed him the issue, told him what the manufacturer said the issue was, and explained that I am getting increments of hot water so I know it is firing up randomly, he was certain that he knew what was going on and it was going to cost quite a bit of money and I am better off replacing my entire Water Heater. What a JOKE. After he left I get call about an hour later from Sanders by some guy named Dave saying parts and labor was going to cost me $1,395 to fix! As soon as I hung up the phone with him I called the manufacturer back and got price quote for the two parts he said I needed to replace which turns out to cost $395 and $126. Do the math..they were trying to charge me approximately $900 in labor!! The best part, the manufacturer said all I needed was the $126 part and I could replace it myself within 5min. They were right. Ordered the part and literally took one screw off, replaced the part, water heater fired up like nothing. Never got a call back from this company, so what does that tell you? Steer clear of this company, they are only looking for big ticket services. Wish there was such thing as an honest handyman these days. read more

We needed a new hot water heater and this company was contracted by PSE&G. We met Chris and he was patient as he tried to explain the need for a liner for the chimney to me and my father, and what was it for. He also repeated himself a few times, and then once the contract was signed, he began the 4 hour job. He even showed up earlier than expected and I loved the phone communication by their staff that Sanders Home Services was coming soon. The service tech that came out was nice, but I can't give this company anything above a 1 star. I'll tell you why. First off, it's Mr. Rooter. I specifically avoided that company because I knew they were over priced. So when a Mr. Rooter van pulled up, I already knew it was going to be an issue. They came out to my house because I knew my sewer main needed to be cleaned out. He didn't have to do anything, we knew what it was. He flushed the toilet, watched it for 1-2 minutes. Had us flush an upstairs toilet to see exactly what I'd already told him - that any water we used was backing up into that downstairs toilet. His estimate was $425 to snake the main sewer line, which is ridiculous! We have an access point at the curb (which he did show us, and was helpful in that regard). The breakdown was $89.00 for their service fee and an additional $308 for the work, plus tax on the job. My neighbor ran over and showed me her bill from Anthony's plumbing that was a TOTAL of $107.00 for the same thing, minus using a camera (which isn't necessary, but Sanders didn't offer that option when I asked). I paid the rip off $89.00 fee and called Anthony's. He came out within 2 hours and fixed the problem in minutes. They charged me the same that they did for our neighbor, $107. Our system is working great again too. It really upsets me that it cost us almost as much to have Sanders just come out. read more

I used Sanders to have a heating unit installed. At the time, they said even though my ac was old and working it was cheaper to do both at the same time. I also had a service contract with them and faithfully had my ac and heater tuned up/serviced every year. They saw I had a dog and never informed me that if a dog urinates on the compressor it can ruin it. I had it serviced every spring never once did they notice that the coils were deteriorating. If they had cleaned it thoroughly they would of noticed the beginning of the problem. Now I find out my 6 year old compressor is done due to my dog urinating on it. I feel that if they serviced it correctly, they would of noticed the beginnings of the corrosion. When I called them they quoted me a very inflated price, not trying to help me since I have been a customer and my system is only 6 years old and they never noticed anything during their "clean ups". They also installed my heater told me there was some fancy expensive filter that only needed to be changed 2X a year, a few years later after a "annual checkup" the tape over the filter fell off and I noticed it was a cheap filter you can buy at Walmart. When I called them, they said they had no idea what I was talking about. If I knew it was a cheap filter, I would have changed it regularly, but since I did not know they switched filters on me another company told me my heater was filthy (I also had Sanders come out every year to do a check up of my heater so apparently they weren't very thorough and it cost me $400 to have the heater cleaned and another fancy filter. So basically Sanders has cost me money due to their lack of customer service and less than mediocre service. I would not use them unless you want to spend a ton of money due to their negligence. read more

I came home from work one evening during a snow storm, and walked into a freezing cold house! My heat decided to just stop working :( My mom mentioned she had used Sanders Home Services in the past for an issue with their air conditioning and they were pretty good, so I called them. I have to say I was very impressed how fast they made it over, considering the weather conditions. The tech was super nice and even put shoe covers on before he entered. He found what the issue was in a matter of 10 minutes. He replaced the necessary parts and had my heat up and running in about 45 minutes. Overall I give them a high rating for their speedy response, friendly and competent customer service. read more

Home Improvement projects, steer clear! It took several days to schedule an estimate for 2 1/2 bathrooms where demo was complete and I needed hook ups with new sinks and a shower which I purchased to get my home ready for sale. The serviceman that wrote up the estimate was VERY detailed, prompt, and efficient. HOWEVER, despite SEVERAL follow up e-mails and phone calls, I never received a return contact with the actual estimate. 2 months later, I still haven't received an estimate! The courtesy of phone call goes a long way. Despite all of their billboards and advertising, I would NOT recommend them when there are others who actually WANT your money! read more

I definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for plumbing services or any other services being offered. So far I have used them for a rough estimate to install a gas line after having received a crazy estimate from another company. Joe P. came and wasted no time taking measurements and giving recommendations as to what materials would be best for the installation of the appliances. After doing his calculations, he gave me a fair and reasonable price which I was very happy with (unlike the original company that I had received a quote from). I agreed to pay a 95 dollar fee to have Sanders evaluate my existing boiler system and give me recommendations to correct installation/code issues from a poorly laid out system. Ultimately, the company spent a few hours reviewing the system, and they suggested I spend 16k for them to replace the whole system. I would not recommend them based on the fact that the boiler ended up needing new venting and an upsized gas line to bring it to code. It was also recommended that a secondary loop be added which I could do at a later date. Be sure to get many opinions even if companies come highly recommended. While they may do great work, they may want crazy money to do it! read more

They have an $89 dispatch fee which should be called a "do nothing fee". This is not a minimum charge fee nor is deducted from any charges for work that they actually do. It is a fee just to make an appointment or a "we'll do nothing and you'll pay $89 fee" just because (as their bill state) they are your friends. I like my actual friends better. I feel you get what you pay for- and being service contract members, we get nice discounts - and they will always work to give you a good deal on bundled jobs. I called Sanders over a week ago to schedule an inspection of our heating system prior to the cold weather. I wanted the earliest appointment (so I could then go to work) and was told that I could have the first appointment (8:00 a.m.) on October 8. At 7:33 that morning, I got a call that saying that the technician was handling "emergencies" and asking he could come later. I said I needed to have the tech in and out by 9:45 a.m. so I could get to work on time. She seemed a little flustered, so I said I could probably walk home on my lunch hour, if she could schedule me after noon; and she said that was possible. At 3:00 p.m. I got a call saying that the tech was at the house before mine. At this point, I hadn't eaten lunch, I was really hungry, and asked if we could make my appointment for the first thing the following day. I was told that it was "impossible" because they were booked for the next week at least. I guess it was all right to inconvenience me but no one else. I got a call at 3:20 p.m. saying that the tech would be there in 12 minutes. I indicated that I had to clear my desk and probably couldn't walk home within that time frame. She answered "We cannot have the tech just sitting around", so I said I'd get there within 20 minutes (as it was, I got to my house before he did). What annoys me most about the situation is the fact that I was willing to work with them to accommodate their "emergencies" but they weren't willing to reciprocate. I've told my husband that, in the spring when the air conditioner needs inspecting, HE is going to have to deal with them. I'm done. On the flipside, the tech who came was very nice, efficient, and got in and out in an hour. read more

It's hard to give any rating because we ended up not using Sanders but that's mostly because they never even got back to us with a quote. We had them come out last year and they did an audit of our house because our HVAC is old and not efficient for our three-story, 100 year-old + home and we were hoping to take advantage of the tax credits that were being offered at the time. Their quote last year was $16000 and had every bell and whistle you could think of and we only qualified for $4000 in tax credits. So we opted not to go with them (or anybody) at that time and hold out a year. Flash forward to this June, had them come out again. No audit this year because the tax credits aren't available anymore anyway. We were assuming they'd come back with a similar number but we made sure to tell the sales guy that we didn't want to do the additional duct work, ventilation, fancy thermostat, etc, and just wanted the units replaced. Period. He said he'd need some time to come up with some options for us. Two weeks later, no word from him. As I type this we're having the work done by another company. They're doing EXACTLY what we wanted and it's only costing us $4300. Granted we're just replacing the outside unit and the coil, but this contractor came on a Sunday, gave us a quote Monday, and is installing less than two weeks later. I needed 2 small electrical jobs done. I was told that someone would be at my house between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday morning. So after sitting around all morning, I finally get a call at 11:20 that I was next on the technician's list and he was finishing up a job in Marlton that would take another 20-30 minutes. At 12:40 I get another call that the technician is finally on his way. I will admit at that point I lost it - I told the service representative that I had just wasted my Saturday morning waiting for them and that clearly my business was just not important to them. I have a hard time understanding why the technician, who had to know that he was not going to get to me until 1:00, did not just call me earlier in the morning to let me know he was running late. I could have gone out and run my errands and been back in time to meet with him. As I told the service representative who called me, Sanders is not the only game in town. Fortunately, there are a lot of electricians in the area who would be happy to have my business. This company was highly recommended to me. Guess what - I am not only going to tell my friends who recommended this company to me about my experience, I will also let others know. I would never recommend a company who is disrespectful of my time. read more
