We got home, three hours away in rural New Mexico, and discovered it was the wrong item. We went to a box store closer to where we are and the sales associate knew what we needed and got us the correct one; which fit perfectly. While I was returning the item at Toyota, the same one that sold it to us, gave us trouble. Even in our initial encounter with him, he was snide. Anyway, get a new service parts sales associate. My hubby and I have been shopping around for a new car. Some of the dealerships have bad sales folks. Sandia was not one of them. Our sales guy, Torrance, was good. He is a sales person but not high pressure. They didn't try and push a lot of extras. They offered, but didn't push it. The process was pretty smooth. They didn't initially offer much in discounts but when we showed a similar car at another dealership,They matched the price. The fine guy, Michael, was good too. He offered a lot of additional coverage options and took the time to discuss the coverage and price for each. Again no high pressure just offered and explained. The last time I went for an oil change I had a very bad experience. I said I would not take my car back over there for an oil change. 4 months later I had to take it to the dealership unfortunately the oil cap broke when we were trying to change oil at home. It was an emergency and they were very on top of everything. Thinking I was going to have to leave my car till Monday morning they called me 2 hours later to let me know it was ready. When I arrived Richard explained the repairs and oil change to me. They were really really nice and gave me the best Mother's Day gift. No change fix the housing for the oil filter. Right now - just kicking tires. The Mrs found a car she liked on the Toyota website. They showed that Sandia had 1 one the lot. She talked to the sales guy - car she's interested in is there. Ok, In the car & off we go. Arrived & met with the sales person. She asked to see the car and was told it was in transit. It would be there by the end of the month. If the same model is available she wanted a test drive. Drive done, asked how she likes it. She does and he goes back inside to return the key. Comes back and tells her the vehicle isn't coming in after all. Huh-what? She wants what she wants unwilling to settle - she doesn't need to replace her current car. After that it was nothing but hard sell trying to get her into anything - regardless of what she wanted. The sales mgr came out trying to close a deal and get her into anything on the lot. It wasn't about what she wanted, it was what they wanted to sell her. The only thing we left with was a reason not to ever consider doing business with them. Your basic bait & switch. I needed front shocks and, having been a dealership mechanic many years ago, researched the repair, finding it was without unusual complexity and involved only a small number of fasteners (about a dozen per side). Access to all fasteners and parts was uncomplicated. I called Sandia, and was told that the job would take 4 hours, which seemed extremely difficult to understand. I went through the job bolt by bolt, asking the polite service advisor how in the world it could take much more than an hour, much less 4? He insisted that it was the "flat rate" time from Toyota, so, in reserved disbelief, and being fairly new to the area, and having read terrible reviews for most shops, I booked the work where at least there would be familiarity with the car and use of correct parts. Out of curiosity about the flat rate estimate, I kept an eye on the progress as coming and going of other cars opened large doors, letting me see what was up. In less than 45 minutes, the work was completed. I went back to the service advisor to note that the actual time was in line with what I had suggested was about right, and a far cry from half a day. He had no option to reduce the charge to a fair price, which I believe, so I asked for the manager. Both the service advisor and manager were quite polite and you could see that, although they could not say so, they agreed that this was highway robbery; after all, the dealership is right next to Highway 25... They tried their best to give me a senior discount of some sort, but explained that this was the way mechanics were repaid for jobs that took too long. That, of course was not correct. Jobs that take too long are either a result of inexperience, poor training, or poor facilities, parts availability, or lack of proper tools. The exception is for jobs were additional and unforeseeable problems were uncovered. None of that applied. This is the most obscene robbery I have been subjected to in any of my 72 years. What is needed is probably a class action lawsuit. That keeps down the cost for each victim. Otherwise, we will all suffer this fate over time. The low state population and incompetent/avaricious management will mean that alternatives will not be easy to find. Soon after, we purchased a new $52k Toyota and found that we could save $4k on exactly the same new car model and spec, by going out of state. That paid for a nice vacation and saved us having to deal with similar processes amid the sales teams in the area. Please see complaints from other reviewers... I highly recommend checking on going out of state. It was a fabulous experience on top of a far better deal. Fly into New Orleans, spend a few days, the dealership in the very rural north edge of the state sent a Cajun driver who gave us a fabulous tour along the way, and we got our ideal car and a cultural extravaganza. read more

I've been going to this dealership for a long time and have seen the business change from Larry H Miller, Karl Malone, Sandia Toyota and now Group 1. The service advisors and techs have always been friendly. However, that being said, I do not appreciate being told I need services when they are not required. Case in point: I received a multi-inspection report that said that I had several items that had failed. The report said that my shock absorbers/suspension failed. I find this strange since I just had my shocks and struts replaced a month and a half ago at a Toyota service department in Texas for $1,312.84. The report also "cautioned" my cabin air filter. I too just had that replaced ($64.00) at the same time I had my shocks/struts replaced. The report said that my brake linings also failed. They measured LF 7mm, RF 7 mm, LR 6mm RR 6 mm. According to my research, these readings are essentially safe and are halfway through the brake pads service life but should be monitored. Critical wear would be at 3mm. I declined all of the other services and only had them perform the services I came in for. I ended up waiting 5 hours (with an appointment) just for a tech to change the oil and drain/fill the transmission and differential fluids. Consequently, I located and contacted a local mechanic who will be maintaining my three (3) Toyotas in the future. read more

This was my experience. It was not great. When you drive in, you drive past a tent on the left side of the entryway. This tent is filled with 3-5 associates who are waiting for people to come by. One of them followed my car to the parking area and when I got out greeted me. I told him why I was there and what I was looking for. We went inside and he immediately started showing me vehicles that were not what I was looking for. I'm pretty sure he either wasn't listening the first time, or has trouble retaining information. I stopped him mid sales pitch and reiterated exactly what I wanted. They only had a few in stock so I asked to see one of a specific color. About 15 min later he pulls up in one that is not the color I specified. Shocker. We go to look over the vehicle. This is where it gets weird. I noticed his phone had an active call going on when he got in the passenger seat. I didn't notice if he had an earpiece in but that would explain the total lack of attention on his part. He also was fidgeting with his Apple Watch. I don't remember him ending the active call but maybe that's what he was doing with the watch. I start asking questions about the car. It's clear he has no clue whatsoever of the features, specs, etc as his answers do not match what's online. I ask to test drive. He takes pictures of my ID with his phone. I clearly state I do not consent to a credit check. Then we wait. His manager then calls him and he goes inside while I'm sitting in the vehicle by myself. I wait. Then wait some more, then wait some more. Maybe 10 minutes of me sitting there watching the two of them chin wag on the other side of the glass. About the time I was ready to leave he comes out and says it took a while for my info to get in the system. I suspect I'll see a soft pull on my credit when I look next, which if you're reading this is still illegal in NM without written consent. The test drive was ok. About mid drive I mention I'm looking at all vehicles of this type across different makers. At this point his demeanor completely changed. He went from mildly interested to apathetic. The drive concludes and I ask who I contact for next steps. We go inside so he can give me his card, which people at his level don't have apparently. He goes searching for one, finally finds one two desks away and writes his info on it. He hands it to me, then turns his back while mumbling bye or something and high tails it out of there. Poor ending to a poor experience. I left with a general distrust of the dealership and an ick feeling, which to be fair, is like most other dealerships I've been to in ABQ. I wont be back. Here is what should have happened. Greeted at the door by an enthusiastic rep who listens to what I want and shows me exactly that and has enough knowledge to point out the features that sets that model apart from the competition. Goes and gets the car I specified and immediately suggest I test drive. Gets my info "into the system" with zero wait and off we go. During the drive point out unique features and answer questions about the infotainment accurately and confidently. Ask me about me....basically provide a pleasurable and confident experience. Finally, at the end, thank me for coming by, state how he wants my business and would be thrilled to see me when I'm ready to buy, handing me a card he had on him, like he was prepared. read more

I purchased a 2025 Rav 4 Plug in hybrid last April , Michael Zappia the sale person waited until he drove the car to Santa Fe for me to take possession to let me know that the car has to be listed as used. He is claiming that Sandia Toyota had purchased this car from another dealership and therefore it is previously owned. I paid full price for a new car that is listed as used. I am unable to apply for the rebates. My extra loss of 7,000.00 because I am unable to apply for the rebates. Someone has taken these rebates. I spoke to Michael and told me that if my CPA was worth her weight in gold she could find me those savings. Then he told me while on the phone that he can't falsify papers, implying that I had asked him to do this. I never asked. I will never shop with Sandia Toyota again. Great Sales professional Mike Zappia here made us a deal via phone, email, and message on our purchase of a 2026 Toyota Crown Signia with a firm offer by email and a price for our trade in of our 2020 Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid(via our sending photos). Upon the car arriving we made the 160 mile trip to Albuquerque worrying somewhat if the deal would go through, or like many dealers they would try to change the agreed to terms. Upon arriving we met Mike and his associate Duane Henry who prepared all the paperwork exactly at the agreed upon price and trade in value. They walked us through the new car, paired our phone and got our deal completed in record time as we had requested we wanted. Finance person deliberately attempted to sabotage my sale because I was not interested in his "ADD ON" Packages. He refused to work with my bank and refused to send them the information to receive payment for my vehicl. When I went to pick up the vehicle after almost three weeks of being jerked around, sales manager refusing to return calls from both me or my bank, I was taken to my vehicle and the only thing the substitute sales person was interested in was loading my phone into the vehicle. Did not mention floor mate found in a box in the back f the SUV, NEVER SAID where the spare tire was, how to find and locate how to open the door for the gas tank, how to open windows, start car, open hatch with key fob, how where to find the switches to turn on the lights, etc. IF IT WAS NOT FOR GOOGLE AND YOUTUBE, I WOULD NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HOW TO OPERATE my vehicle! 1- Their communication is terrible: They may have your car for several days, not update you on when any parts are expected and will only call you if you first call them and leave a message. After several days, you may find out that they never looked into the issues you brought it in for and it has just been sitting in their lot. Don't let days go by expecting them to be on top of the situation and inform you of what they are doing. They won't. 2- They may not even attempt to address your concerns: I dropped off my car and asked them to look into the source of a noise and to check the battery as I had a check engine light and a dash message to see the dealer. (prior to taking it in, I checked the 12 v battery and found it was resting at 12.3 v, which is low. I trickle charged it overnight to ensure I'd be able to take it in for the appointment the next day). That morning it started up and had no check engine light, due to the trickle charging. When I picked the car up after the service appointment, it was stated that the source of the noise that they verified was a bad rear strut. It was replaced. The service advisor, David Carrell, didn't mention the battery at all and when I asked, dismissed it by saying that the battery would have to be COMPLETELY flat in order to test bad and that if I have more problems, bring it back. It wasn't tested at this time as I requested. At the following visit I once again asked for the battery to be tested and he stated, "I finally got your battery to test bad, so we replaced it". This just further supports my claim that the battery was bad and needed to be tested the first time. On another visit, I informed them of a nail in the tread of a tire. When I went to pick up the car, David Carrell stated that it had been fixed because they found that it didn't go all the way through. The car in fact still had the nail in it. 3- I highly suspect that they may ACTIVELY avoid warranty work by hiding problems: They misdiagnosed the source of the noise, one that they themselves verified, as a leaking strut. After picking up the car with the new strut it was immediately apparent that the noise was still present (they didn't bother to verify that the strut actually fixed it). I returned with the car again for both the original battery issue (which again resulted in a dash error message) and again the still very obviously present noise. This time, I did some inspections of my own before taking it in. I suspected a wheel bearing was the cause of the noise so I checked by lifting each wheel off the ground with a jack and rocking the wheel back and forth to check for play. I discovered that the driver's rear wheel had a lot of play in it and I took a video to document it. Upon dropping the car off for service, I stated that the noise was still very obvious AND that it was the rear wheel bearing, how I knew that, and that I had proof on video. They had the car for three days and I hadn't heard anything from my service advisor, David Carrell. I tried to call him and had to leave a voicemail. He returned my call and left me a voicemail, stating that they were unable to produce the noise and that I need to go drive it with them. This was a noise that they verified a week earlier at the first visit and one that only became more noticeable over time. I went in to talk to him and reminded him that I informed them that it was the rear wheel bearing and a one minute inspection that didn't even require the removal of any parts would quickly prove it. He said that they can't simply take my word for it and check the bearing directly and that they would first need to identify a noise. I drove it with his technician and the noise WAS NOT THERE. I cannot think of a reason why the noise would suddenly go away for them when it had been very noticeable for two weeks and only getting worse. Unless they did something to temporarily make it unnoticeable, such as heavily greasing it. I insisted that it be put on the lift and physically checked and showed both David Carrell and his technician the video I took a couple days before. The technician agreed that it warranted a look on the lift and did so. It was very apparent that the wheel bearing was in fact bad due to excessive play and both agreed. However, I noticed that the noise and degree of play were much less than I experienced when taking the video in my garage, which again makes me suspicious that something was done to temporarily quiet the noise so that when I drove with them and didn't hear it, I would go away and not pursue the warranty work that needed to be done. 4. If your service advisor is not at work, your car cannot be worked on: After David Carrell agreed that the obviously worn bearing needed to be replaced, I asked that it be done by the end of the next day, Saturday. He said it can't be done Saturday because since he's off on Saturday, so are all of his mechanics on his 'team'. read more

Told me it's because I'm new and made it online and they don't want people to make appointments online because they can't tell them the wait time. Then told me the wait time was 4 hours for an oil change!!!!! Said it's corporates problem because they won't block off online appointments. We bought our daughter a used ford focus with 57,000 miles on it. Our salesman was not helpful considering he had nothing to do selling the car except physically being there. We wanted the car, we paid cash, and that was it. After purchasing the car we were asked if we could bring it back in 3 days because it had some repairs needed. So why didn't you fix it first before selling it or even showing it? We asked what repairs needed to be done and the only thing the salesman knew was a cracked tail light. So we bring it back Saturday morning and we are there from 10am to 2pm (we were told approx. 1 hour). The car apparently also needed front brakes and a spare tire and i dont know what else. The service department was RUDE, the guy yelled at me to pull my car in, so I yelled back. So I proceeded to get the stink eye from most of the service department. Barry should not have that position. He has NO customer service skills and is a grumpy man. He is rude and doesn't not represent Toyota. We also noticed that the dashboard completely separated and when i asked him to fix it, he rudely replied "It wasn't schedule for that!" When we finally got the car back, we were handled the keys, and not even offered any paperwork, and no the dashboard wasn't fixed. We will never go back here and do the opposite of recommending to all our friends and family, Reading these other reviews, I can see Sandia Toyota is aware of this and obviously doesn't care, so we will have to bring it to the big boys a Toyota corporate. I'm in town and helped my sister buy a new car. We were treated very well during the sale portion, but as soon as we finished the application, that's where it all started to fall apart. We waited for over 2 hours to sign our purchase agreement. We watched as people who arrived after us, got helped before us. Finally, after asking a worker why it was taking so long, we were taken back to sign the documents. The paperwork we signed was completely wrong. The paperwork said a different model, and when we brought it up, they said it was ok, it was just a "place holder" and "we go off of the VIN". We then tried to update our insurance, and found that not only was the model number wrong, but the VIN was wrong on all the documents we had already signed! There was no "proof" we bought the car we actually brought home. We called the dealership and they had us come back in to resolve the paperwork. We have been waiting at the dealership for 3 hours (and counting) to correct a MAJOR mistake that they made. We are incredibly unhappy with the customer service we have received after "the sale" was made. Most likely will not be coming back to Sandía Toyota as a result of their major mistakes and unprofessionalism. read more

Worst experience ever!! ST pulled a hard credit inquiry on me even though I told them I could not allow that as I was in the process of buying a home. I told the salesperson and finance team as soon as I arrived that I was paying in cash. They promised me they would not pull my credit, but then did it anyway. My credit rating was damaged and this interfered with the homebuying process!! I sent multiple emails to my sales person, the finance team, and the general manager, but none were returned. I had a 3-way phone call with Juan Lozano at Sandia and an Experian rep. The Experian rep explained three different ways that Juan could recall the credit inquiry, and Juan promised to do so. However, he never followed through. I then had a later phone call with Tammy Burns, who also promised to recall the credit inquiry, and did not follow through. This credit inquiry will stay on my account and continue to cause me financial harm for two fucking years unless Sandia Toyota takes responsibility and fixes this. There is no excuse for this level of unprofessionalism and dishonesty. To make everything worse, the car I bought in cash turned out to be a lemon, so I had to return it. It took weeks to get my money back and I had to drive to the dealership many times and make multiple phone calls and emails (all unresponded to of course) over this mess. I actually had to file an attorney general complaint before I got my money back. I will never do business again with this company, and don't believe you should trust them with your personal information or your money either!! read more

My husband and I sold our Toyota Tacoma to Sandia Toyota. They offered us a pretty good price, but that was the only good thing about our entire experience here. Not only did they lose our paperwork after the first day, no one bothered to let us know. After about three weeks of leaving unreturned messages for about five different people, I was able to find the time to go in in person. My husband and I were now sharing a vehicle and have a 10 month old leaving our schedule very tight. I had forgotten my I.D the day I was supposed to resign the papers, so that couldn't be done, and that was on me. But one of the sales guys seeing that I was very obviously upset decided to try to make a joke out of it. There is zero professionalism at this establishment. I called the parts department to order replacement splash guards: one under the front of my car and one in the wheel well that developed a hole because it had been laying against my tire. I also scheduled an appointment to have the parts installed. I brought my car in for the job at the appointment time and got the car back in a timely fashion. It was my fault for not checking that the work had been done when they gave me my car back, but I was hoping I could trust them, and I had an important surgery the next day, so my mind was elsewhere. I noticed some time later that the splash guard in the wheel well looked like it hadn't been replaced at all and was simply realigned so that it was no longer rubbing against my tire. I took my car back to see what happened, but the service rep who helped me just BS-ed me and told me that the wheel well splash guard had been replaced. He claimed he couldn't see any tire marks on the splash guard even though there was a huge hole rubbed in the guard. He showed me the part while the car was up on the hydraulic lift and I noted that the color of the wheel well splash guards both matched each other but their color didn't match the other splash guard that was replaced. To me, that proved that the splash guard in the wheel well hadn't been replaced. The rep just BS-ed me again saying that the wheel wells get exposed to more water and that's why the "new" one looked 10 years old. When I got home, I looked at my work order receipt to verify what the rep said. Come to find out, the dealership never even ordered the wheel well splash guard, so there was absolutely no way they could have replaced it because they never had that part. On July 5th of 2024 I went to them to have an ABD module (which I provided) installed and reprogramed. The customer rep called me 5 hours later and said it would be well over 1 thousand for labor. I explained to him that it was too much since the part was very accessible (at the very top and wide open), then he said that he could lower it by 400 dollars. So why not from the beginning? They went ahead and did the labor, which at the end still costed me 1400 dollars, so I paid it in order to get my vehicle back. Then I called "Power Ford" and they said that the labor was calling for 2.2 hours, but they charged me 6 hours. Crooks!!!!!!! Customer beware!!! read more

WILL NOT HELP WITH ACCOUNT- incorrectly charging me, 4 months now! I leased a Toyota Camry from the dealer in spring of 2020. Initially I was very happy- until I traded the Camry in for a RAV 4 at the end of October. The dealer paid off the car but they did not submit the odometer report, and this is when my nightmare began. The dealership claims they cannot help me, and Toyota Financial is equally inept. After 15 phone calls and numerous attempts the damn Camry is still on my account, and is now effecting my credit score. This is an issue with this dealership AND with corporate. The cars are great! The customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with. They don't return calls and no one can actually do anything to help. read more

Even if you see the vehicle you want on their website and it says that the vehicle is on the lot, and you call and a salesman tells you that vehicle is on the lot, you will probably go to look at the vehicle and it won't be there. Example 5 blue RAV4s on the lot, arrive one hour later after speaking to sales and miracle of miracles there are now no blue RAV4s on the lot. read more

The day after I went to wash it because we had went to my daughter's and it was a dusty road and I know the swirls all over it. Front back side top, they still have not taken care of it. Bought and paid in full for car on 5 September 22 (today is 17 Sep 22). Still waiting on registration and title. Dealership registration clerk blames it on MVD in Santa Fe. I called and spoke to MVD in Santa Fe. They said once they receive the paperwork it takes no more than a week to process. Going to contact a lawyer to see what my options are if not received by the 60 day point. Will also go ahead and post the "standard reply" by the Business Manager so he doesn't have to. My salesman Ron did a great job in selling me the vehicle like most salesmen do. However, when he connected me with the financing guy Juan, things took a turn for the worst. I was told it would take 2 weeks for me to receive a check from Toyota for my trade in from the finance guy. This was absolutely ridiculous, but I followed up weekly with both salesman and finance. Told the same story, "I will find out and contact you back". Never heard from anyone. There is a total disconnect between each department or these 2 individuals. Long story short, week 3. A salesman name Gabe Salazar is a rock star!!! He heard my frustration and professionally assisted me in getting my check in less than 20 minutes.The moral of the story, "The principals of Customer relations should never be forgotten."
