Giant Dune Buggy tour GREAT. Family of four two young kids was a perfect way to see and learn about the dunes. Just enough exciting big dunes to go down. Doug the driver was awesome and super knowledgeable. It was a great balance of beauty, fun, excitement, information about the ecosystem/Sandunes. The front desk people were super nice and welcoming. My favorite part is I felt like the tour was priced perfect at 20 dollars a person for the hour experience. WOW. A 9 day road trip full of adventures and this was the hit!! Our driver, Dan, was off the charts amazing. This was our first time, but others in our vehicle who've done it before said he was by far, the best yet! We did the 1-hour Sandrail Tour. It flew by! So fun. Wear warm clothes and a beanie (I still have sand in my hair that won't wash out). I'd also recommend a bandana on your face. Bronco weekend, yee haw! We visited the Oregon Dunes on a very popular weekend. In addition to the normal droves of folks who bring their ATVs and dune buggies for a wild time on the dunes, it was Bronco weekend. So hundreds of folks in old school Broncos were also there. So I was very glad that on this trip we left the driving to a professional. In the past we rented our own dune buggies, but since we were with the boys, we chose the 1/2 hour sand rail tour. Sandland offers several options and I felt sorry for those on the Giant Dune Buggy tour in a large school bus. The area is beautiful, so if you aren't up for adventure, but want to tour the dunes, that would be fine. But that thing really looked like it just lumbered around. And my family has a need for speed. We reserved in advance and after discussing options with the staff decided on a morning tour since wind tends to kick up in the afternoon. Our tour was in a 7-passenger dune buggy and it went by very fast. You are strapped in with goggles and kids wear helmets. Our driver was professional, but not a people person. My tips are to dress in layers and anyone with long hair should tie it back. I wouldn't wear a hat since it may fly off and would be distracting to hold. I am a big ole coupon clipper, but couldn't find any discounts. Overall the tour was fun, but I was expecting a bit more of an adrenaline rush. There are some speed runs and a little bit on angles, but he didn't get wild and crazy. So if you want to go bananas, you would be best off renting your own. Although people regularly don't know the limits of their vehicles or the geography and while we were there some folks were being evacuated by ambulance. This is a daily occurrence, so be safe out there. read more

WARNING/Be Advised-This business discriminates and is extremely rude and has poor customer service. 1. If you are a tall/larger person (even if not overweight), they discriminate and require you to pay for an extra seat. Even if they don't fill the entire buggy, you still have to pay and they are literally penalizing people in a very tight economy it charging people excessively because of their body composition. 2. Customer service is terrible. Surprised for a small/remote business that they weren't more accommodating and open to schedule reservation times within the same day for a later time. Very rigid in their schedule approach, so don't expect much from them... it's an absolute bummer that they don't have any desire to "help." At the end of the day the arrogance and attitude was appalling. They were literally willing to lose sales from our family which would have been $600-700 for the day. They may not go out of business because there aren't many other options in this area, but they don't deserve success. read more

The tours are really fun and I've been multiple times and loved them. Unfortunately my most recent booking experience has change my view of this place for the worst. I clicked a link off google maps to book a 1-hour tour for 2. The max weight is 300lbs. I booked for two people weighing in the 221lb-240lb range, the same as the times before. It was only AFTER paying that I received an email stating a policy that requires customers over 200lbs to have to buy an additional seat. I had read all the Warnings and Information listed on the tour page and couldn't find this anywhere. I was given the option of changing tours, purchasing an extra seat, or getting a refund minus 10% cancellation fee. This didn't sit well as I was unaware of this policy before purchasing and wouldn't have paid $160 if I knew I'd have to pay an additional $75. I asked where on the website I could find this policy as I had clicked on everything possible to find it and it was nowhere. Eventually I got on the phone with them and had such rude and snotty customer service that I asked to speak to a manager. A Doug then got on the phone and tried to explain that the policy is on the website and I again stated that it is nowhere to be found. He asked if I booked online and I said yes, got the link from their business on google maps. He then seemed to think that I didn't actually book through the website but through google maps and I had to explain the basics of how google maps works.. He found there were two links, one to the website and one directly to book a tour, which is what I chose. As he read through the Warnings and Information provided for the tour he admitted that the policy should be there but was indeed not there and that the direct link to book tours must have circumnavigated the additional policies. Thinking this would be the end of it due to the error being on the businesses end I asked if I could either continue with the tour as paid or get a 100% refund as I shouldn't have to pay a cancellation fee for their failure to post policies that require additional fees. I expressed how horrible their customer service was and he LAUGHED and said that they get that a lot. He then stated that I shouldn't expect them to be perfect all the time because I'm probably not operating to perfection 100% of the time. I eventually got a 100% refund but it was so much more difficult than any reasonable person would have guessed after a business-end error. I've never received customer service that has made me as livid as this experience was. I enjoyed the tours that this company offers but the rudeness, laughing, and snotty responses from their employees is such a turn off that I can forgo the adventures as I can't support this business as it is currently operating. read more

Went here with my wife to do something new. we bought tickets for the go karts she talked on the radio asking if the track is dry enough they said yes. we bought the tickets and walked over there (started raining really hard) the guys at the track said we can't do it wait and it might stop soon. An hour later they said no good and it's not gonna stop raining. we went to the office and they called me a liar that we didn't talk to the go kart people and refused to give my money back for a service I bought and they refused to provide. very unfriendly and hostile. What an awesome, adrenaline packed one hour Sand Rail tour! So much fun driving up and down high sand dunes at exhilarating speeds. Do the SAND RAIL, one hour. By the time you board, you'll be sad if you only do the 30 min. I mean, it was a little pricey for 5 of us in the family, but is was one of the most favorite things we've ever done on the Oregon coast...and we've done a lot of things! I loved the Dune-buggy. It was a bumpy but exciting and thrilling ride for the group. We booked a whole buggy for ourself. It was sad the land was once green and than it turned into sand. From what they an see, it will turn back green very soon into the cycle. I am glad I came here to look at the Dune in Oregon. Sandland Adventures Inc. is a bit out of no where. But it was fun. If you have an ATV licence you could ride it in the Dune (oregon requires a license to ride ATV but its easy to get). You will not be disappointed. We called to book a guided tour. We opted for the more adventurous scary tour. This company didn't disappoint. This one of the best adventures I've been on. So much fun, just the right amount of scary J.D. was our guide. He provided a really adventurous safe and fun trip. My kids loved it. They provided helmets for those under 18 although I'm sure anyone can have a helmet if you'd like. They also provided goggles. We booked the hour trip and glad we did. A half hour would be too fast and others finishing their trip said they wished they'd booked an hour. My son wished we had booked a longer one but I don't think my nerves could handle that. An hour of adrenaline was enough for me. There was another group out just ahead of us and I'd say they were all in their late 60's early 70's. They all loved it so know this is NOT just for the younger people. It was very fun! I did close my eye a couple times when I felt like we were going to tip down hills. Their customer service and business practices need to corrected. We were on our way there and only 45 minutes away when the road was blocked off by firefighters and forest rangers. There apparently was a forest fire and they completely blocked off the road. Every car was forced to turn around. We call Sandland Adventures to tell them our predicament and the person at their business had zero sympathy and said she would not refund our cancelation! As a small business owner myself, I am more than aware what a cancelation can do to a company's schedule. However, I am also empathetic to when a customer cannot come due to forces beyond their control. Especially for a company as busy as they are, they can afford to be a little more empathetic to customers. I wish we had made reservations elsewhere! read more

We did the 1 hour sand dune tour, and it was very informative and fun! We had a group of 11 people ranging in age from 6 to 61, and everyone enjoyed it so much! The guide was great, and he gave a lot of information about the dunes. It was really fun just riding around and speeding up and down a few dunes! I scheduled a tour online and called and to clarify seating. I was told to come 45 minutes before the tour to be able to sit in front. I have a knee brace and am unable to bend my knee for long periods of time. I was told that was not the case when we arrived. I was not able to attain the seats and so I asked to be moved to another tour where those seats were open. I was then told that they could not accommodate moves. I chose to eat the first $66 and then schedule and pay for the next day in those seats and then was told that if a handicap person comes, I will have to sit somewhere else and will not be able to be moved to another tour to sit in the front. Kim chose to raise her voice at me and I told her not to speak to me that way. Then she proceeded to start clapping her hands at me in front of the waiting room of people when I expressed that I did not have a problem getting bumped for a handicapped person. I just wanted to be rescheduled to another tour in the front. She then told me I didnt get it. Upon her speaking over me when I was trying to reply to her and her clapping and raising her voice at me in front of my child, I walked out and said nice manners babe. I did not speak rude to her or raise my voice. I have never been treated this way in all of the years that we have frequented this establishment. My child was crying after we left due to the disrespectful way we were treated. She laughed at us when we walked out. Its really sad that people think its ok to treat families this way. We ate the $66 dollars and did not end up getting another tour. Sad ending to our trip in Florence. Hope they a find a Manager who knows how to deal with people. read more

We can tell you that their customer service and compassion are lacking. While I did not give 48 hours notice that we were having trouble...we had our hands full just keeping the car on the road during a holiday weekend...we had sent an email 40 hours before our trip explaining our issue. As it was a "group" excursion that was to go out whether we were there or not and they didn't fill our seats, no extra gas or guide time was spent. We were treated very badly since one of our kids had some anxiety issues prior to the ride (refused to put on the headphones) and the driver was extremely rude since the delay was impacting their "schedule" and he didn't give us a chance to help with the situation. Instead of working with us despite our pleas to remedy the situation, he wanted to kick him off the ride. We fully cooperated even with all the unpleasantness and even got out of the ride so they could proceed with the tour - the other senior passengers fed off the driver and made mean remarks about kids but we went along without complaining till that point. My wife told them they weren't being nice and the driver complained about our attitude - go figure. The driver then talked to the office/owner and suddenly changed his attitude and was willing to work with us - it took a minute after that and we were all able to go on the ride - if he had just been patient in the first place and worked with us, he would have prevented this. We have gone on several adventure rides with the kids and never experienced this level of rudeness or discomfort prior to the ride. The only reason I would give this 2 stars instead of 1 star is that the kids loved the actual ride which was a thrill. This was our experience and you may have a better one but this negative situation (and review) could have entirely been avoided if the driver had worked with us since we know our kids better. They had a warning on their billboard when we got there that they would not tolerate kids who didn't cooperate and maybe that was the first sign of trouble - I think they should have put this disclaimer in bold when we do the booking and we could have re-considered. In any case, we wouldn't recommend this for those with kids esp with some anxiety and who may impact their "schedule" - heed their warning! read more

This was so much fun! We did the half hour ride and afterwards were all wishing we had done the hour. I was a little nervous turning onto the dunes because I saw some of the other vehicles doing jumps. Don't worry, you won't do any jumps!
