    Breakfast sando
    Cali O.

I am fully willing to amend this review as I believe they will smooth out their operations with a little more practice. A friend and I went to lunch on a Saturday. The place was jam packed. There was a huge line to order on the kiosks because folks hadn't decided before getting in line to order. They were out of almost every menu item. We made a selection out of the remaining items. Sandwiches should take no more than 15 minutes and we waited over an hour for our takeout to be ready. If this weren't a new spot, I wouldn't bother returning. The food was good but I really wanted to try the milk bread sandwiches but they sold out. The takeout bags did not have silverware. We couldn't dine in because of the crowd. Presumably because of how long everyone was waiting. Bummer.

    Solid Tater Tots and Fries!

Sando Table is tucked into a pretty inconspicuous spot in Boston's Financial District, but for anyone willing to make the trek, it's absolutely worth it. My friend and I went on a Thursday afternoon, and the shop was pretty lively. Not packed, but most of the seating (a few high-top spots and one main table) was taken. Still, after ordering, we were able to snag a spot within a couple of minutes. Between the two of us, we ordered the Tamago and Chicken Katsu Sando and the Yuzu Fish N' Chips Sando. Each came with a choice of salad, tater tots, miso soup, or fries (we went with fries and tots). For around $20 per sando, the portions felt pretty generous. The Tamago and Chicken Katsu was hefty, but we both felt the egg was a bit muted compared to the rest of the sandwich. That said, the chicken katsu was crispy, and I loved the acidity and slight sweetness from the slaw. Overall, probably a 4.25/5. The Yuzu Fish N' Chips, though, was the star. A little messy to eat, but the fish was flaky with a great batter, and the yuzu + Japanese tartar sauce cut through the richness perfectly. There was even enough extra sauce to dip our fries in, which we fully took advantage of. Easy 5/5. Overall, we'd definitely come back. The only downside was the lack of a bathroom or even hand sanitizer (which maybe is just me being picky), but for a place where almost everything is handheld, it feels like a miss. (Pro tip: head to the bathroom at the Dagny Hotel down the street if you're a germaphobe like me!)

    Truffle takoyaki

I went during their soft opening period and ordered a lychee matcha latte, Tokyo breakfast sando w tater tots, and truffle takoyaki - TASTE: 4/5 - the lychee came through in the latte, and the truffle mayo in the takoyaki as well. Breakfast sandwich hit the spot w its Japanese potato croquette and tonkatsu sauce. Only disappointment was the unsalaried side of tater tots lol. Would come back eventually to try more of the menu! TEXTURE: 5/5 - perfectly fried & crispy croquette, grilled buns, and a soft Japanese-style egg patty. Chef's kiss! PRICE: 4/5 - was expecting higher price points honestly. Subtotal came to $32 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - filled me up for a late lunch SERVICE: 4/5 - I walked in at 2:30pm on a Saturday and the space was packed. There was plenty of signage posted around their soft opening period and an anticipated 30-60min wait. I ordered via Toast on my phone, as the two self-service kiosks were busy, and my food was ready 35min later ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - on the smaller side w some counter seating and one large table; didn't see a public bathroom. Appreciate a dedicated space for Japanese craft sandwiches! PARKING: 4/5 - got a metered street spot nearby on Franklin St x Batterymarch St

Delicious and made to order sando. You can tell it's made with love so be patient on the wait. Had the chicken Katsu with egg salad and fish and chips. Both were super tasty and well executed. Ordering on the kiosk is easy. The staff is happy and smiling despite being busy during the visit. There are various seating if you want to eat there. High top seats near the window and on the side, couple of seats facing the kitchen and a large communal table. It's not a place you can hang out for long period of time, but comfy enough to enjoy your sando and a drink

    Katsu and tomago sando

Was in the area and stopped by the new Japanese sando cafe. They have 2 kiosks that you order from when you enter. It's a cozy spot that has more opening in the back with tables for folks to eat in. You can see the line up of cooks making the food and there is a barista who preps the drinks. They were out of the tomago sando which is the one I wanted, but I tried their pork katsu and tomago one instead. It was a big sandwich to bite into. It was pretty good, but I didn't care as I'm for the cutlet (generally not a katsu person) and they had a sweet sauce (typical though). The break was Shokupan milk bread and held together to nicely. It was about $17 for the sando and included a small salad accompanied by an Asian inspired flavored dressing which was refreshing. Overall it was good and I'd come back again to try the tomago (hopefully in stock).

Small dining area and gets really busy even before noon on a Friday- so go early. Tables do open up though, most people are just waiting for their to go orders. We got a katsu sando and a katsu curry rice bowl- both delicious. Potato croquettes and nori fries were also very good.

Excellent sandwich shop! The egg salad and chicken katsu sandwiches were super tasty and I will definitely be coming back. The staff were friendly, the shop is clean and charming, and my food was ready very quickly.

This spot has the best sandwiches in Boston! We ended up picking up our order late, and the staff kindly offered to reheat it and replace our cold fries with crispy tater tots! Immediately, I already appreciated the service and hospitality. We started with the croquettes, which were so buttery soft and easy to bite into. I loved the shredded cabbage and sprinkle of vegetable in the filling! Then we tried their spicy chicken sandwich and truffle burger, both of which were outstanding!! I would personally say the truffle burger was better, it had the perfect mix of sweet and savory, with a super strong truffle taste! It was absolutely the best truffle burger I've ever had. The chicken sandwich was also delicious, I was surprised at how crispy it remained even after reheating! Both sandwiches were so saucy, they did not skimp on anything! We also had to try a dessert, and ended up getting their affogato. This was definitely the great choice, but its matcha topping was so strong I couldn't finish the cake on the bottom that was drenched in it. Nonetheless, i loved the matcha paired with ice cream and boba pearls! It was also a decently sized portion and almost a little much for two people after a full meal. Overall, we had such a great dinner here, and the staff made it 10X better! We will absolutely be back to try the rest of their menu!

It was adequately busy but still had seats open. The lunch menu is very affordable! If you can, I'd highly recommend going for lunch instead of dinner. Service was really quick! Received my meal in like 5-7 mins after ordering. Fish was super fresh and I really liked the different textures in the Hoseki Don. I also added in negitoro. They gave me a big clump of it! The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Again, so impressed with the quality of the fish and the size of it. They didn't skimp out and really enjoyed the thickness of the sashimi despite it only being 3 pieces. It was a very satiating bowl. Cant wait to come back next time again!

We popped in here for a post-movie snack. Even though we came at a pretty inconvenient time for the staff (right before last call and half an hour before closing for lunch), our waitress was super sweet and checked in on us when we were done to see what our favorite roll was. The food came out very quickly, maybe because of the off-hour. We got the seaweed salad (not bad, very cucumber heavy); and an assortment of handrolls (toro, spicy blue crab, spicy scallop, and California lobster roll). Everything about each roll was sublime, from the delicate crispy nori, the slightly above room temperature rice, and the generous cuts of seafood laid on top. My favorite was the toro with caviar. You almost don't need to dip any of these in the accompanying soy sauce, though they do provide that, along with ginger and wasabi. Extensive drink menu too. Loved the offer of a complimentary Lactaid to go with the matchatini that includes cheese foam - this place knows some of their customers suffer from dairy! Dinner has a few more options, though lunch offers slightly discounted sets of three handrolls. There's a description on the back of the menu for how to eat these. I'd love to try their sister restaurant, Matsunori. Parking is tough for this area: if you can swing dinner and a movie, that might be the best deal, as Alamo offers validated parking for I believe up to four hours.

We honestly loved every bite. We did get one sake pairing as well and really enjoyed that. They described the flavor profiles perfectly and the quality of the sake was excellent. I was initially a little bit annoyed at the price point for these dishes, but after seeing just how much protein each udon came with, I felt that the price was very fair. The udon was bouncy, chewy, and a decent portion size. I ended up having to take some leftovers home. XO Seafood Udon: The restaurant specifically labeled it "wok-tossed," and it truly had a wonderful wok-hei鑊氣 (wok aroma), with an irresistible fragrance as soon as it arrived at the table. The XO sauce was extremely rich, sweet and umami, and the udon noodles were soft on the outside and bouncy on the inside; the sauce was glossy, smooth, but not greasy, allowing it to coat the noodles evenly and infuse them with flavor. The shrimp, squid, and scallops were all fresh and large, making for a very satisfying meal. The shrimp, in particular, were coated with a thin layer of starch before being pan-fried, adding layers of texture and locking in the juices. This plate removed the scallions and onions to suit my taste, and if you like spicy food, adding a little chili oil would greatly enhance the flavor. The restaurant had an elegant and refined ambiance, and the service was attentive, making it a very relaxing place.

When I made the reservation online I put that the occasion it was for was my birthday- I notice that most restaurants don't pay attention to this on OpenTable, but Fuji definitely did! We were seated quickly and with no issue at all, despite it being pretty crowded. The vibe was intimate and classy- a great spot for date night, or for dinner with your parents. At our table was a card (in the pictures) which was such a nice touch and was a great start to the meal. Our waitress was awesome, and it seemed like there was a floor manager too that was making sure everyone was happy. It felt like the staff truly cared and wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time and experience. Our waitress checked in on us multiple times, and was very helpful with the menu. Speaking of the menu, I was very pleased to see the amount of vegetarian dishes! You don't see that often at Japanese restaurants! For our appetizers we got the lobster Rangoon and spicy edamame. Technically the tofu is an app but you would never guess that from the portion size. The edamame were outstanding! They were spicy as expected and were so tasty. We demolished the whole bowl. The Rangoons were also amazing- the chunks of lobster were divine. I myself love lobster and crab Rangoons, so a combo?! Amazing. Both the edamame and lobster Rangoons are can't misses. For our entrees/ mains we got the crispy soy noodles, miss Waldorf roll, sweet potato roll, tofu, and fried rice. The miss Waldorf roll is amazing, and I can not wait to go back and get more sushi. Truly the best sushi I have had in boston. There are other upscale sushi restaurants I have been to that charge a pretty penny but taste like grocery store sushi. Fuji is not one of those- it was truly exceptional sushi. The sweet potato roll was also delicious! I am very picky about my sweet potato rolls and had one that I have dreamt about since I had it in 2022. I have finally found a sweet potato roll that matches my standards. The crispy soy noodles were also amazing! They reminded e of one of my favorite restaurants when I was a kid and it filled me with such joy to eat something with that flavor. The serving size was pretty big too, and they were not shy on the shrimp! Note though, they were a tad oily (I added a little bit of soy sauce to balance it out). The fried rice was also very good and tasted like a good bowl of comfort fried rice. My parents ate it with the tofu and liked it! The only dish I would want some change in is the tofu- it wasn't bad but compared to the other dishes it definitely lacked the flavor punch you get in the rest of the dishes. The sauce was okay with it. After dinner our waitress brought a slice of vanilla crepe cake and ice cream! This was such a nice touch and it was SO good!!!!! It was the first time I ever had crepe cake but I loved it! I'm not sure if they have a dessert menu or not (we weren't asked if we wanted to see one) but I would love to go back and get that cake again! Overall I am beyond happy that I picked this spot for my birthday- I had an amazing experience and amazing food. Will definitely be back!
