    Special rolls

Great spot for good sushi at a very reasonable price! The Miso soup was very good and the filling of the crab rangoons was perfect. Theres a huge menu selection so we just picked some special rolls and they were all very fresh. The service was a little slow and there were only 2 tables in the restaurant so it seems more of a take out spot. Would definitly stop in again or pick up for take out. No frills type of place but good food!

There's just something about mango in a sushi roll that always does it for me. Great sushi and prices.

For $40 you get 6 nigiris, 12 assorted sashimi, and one spicy rainbow maki. It's such a good deal! The sashimi tasted fresh and the spicy rainbow maki was pretty good. Highly recommend getting this! The price is unbeatable.

Avana is hidden inside a corner location with other smaller vendors. There's very limited seating and many people order takeout from here. If you can get a seat, it feels wholesome supporting a really small business. The food is very affordable with a good selection on the menu. The miso soup came out very hot, perfect on a cold night. The sushi was prepared quickly and tasted good for the price. Don't expect anything fancy here.

We came for their lunch special (pricing in attached image, 11-3). The restaurant is located inside along with multiple other small restaurants. There was limited bar seating and one small table so if you have a group it might be easier to grab/go for takeout. They accept card/cash at this location. The lunch special was delish and came with a yummy miso soup. Each roll comes with 8 pieces. We ordered one special with sides and the sides were a bit small (2 gyoza and a small scoop of seaweed salad), but with the miso soup we left all feeling full! Recommend the shrimp avo roll :)

Amazing sushi! If you are craving really good sushi go here!!! I got take out and was not disappointed at all! The fish was fresh with the best taste. The quality was amazing as well! Hoping to make it in to actually sit down instead of just take out because I can't imagine if the take out was this good it must be even more amazing if we went and sat down.

There really isn't much of an ambiance. It's a shared space with other restaurants. The seating is extremely limited and cramped. But tbh I welcomed it all. I don't mind the cramped spaces. The food product was ok. For the price? Sure. But definitely can tell the quality wasn't top tier. I've had cheap sushi places and this has to be like mid range. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting the best of the best. But some parts of the meal I felt like just chewing as fast as I could. The only saving grace is the Inari roll, and the spicy tuna roll. That's it. Would I come back? Prob not.

This place was alright, nothing fancy. Miso soup was served in a coffee cup, and gave a small styrofoam plate for the sauce dish, which the sauce dish itself was a flimsy gray plastic piece. Gyoza dumplings were decent, but didn't like the sauce that came with it, as it tasted a little strange. However, I really did like the miso soup. I had an upset stomach before having lunch here, and as simple as it was, it did the trick. Eel sauce was good, but the sushi itself was underwhelming and didn't taste much from it.

For the price and quality it's really hard to beat Avana sushi. The fish and rolls are always so good without having to break the bank. It's not going to be the best sushi you've ever had but it's still pretty high quality. 48 pieces on the maki regular platter only costs 37$ and is worth every penny. If you come here also treat yourself to one of the chefs special rolls because everyone that I've tried so far has been so worth it!

I ordered from Avana Sushi on UberEats. They were running a buy one, get one free promotion for the crabmeat mango avocado maki rolls, so I decided to order four rolls... and then I ate them all at once. I was happy to see that my order was correct because I've had some issues with restaurants not honoring promotions in the past. The sushi rolls were pretty fresh. Some sushi with mango that I've had from elsewhere hasn't tasted so fresh, but this mango was actually really great! It provided a nice balance with the avocado and crabmeat. The rice was cooked perfectly and the rolls were perfectly composed. The pickled ginger and wasabi were pretty standard, but added some great flavor. I'd like to try this place in person, but I think it's a great option for delivery, too!

    Lunch special

This is a super small hole in the wall place with a really good deal for lunch specials. I got the spicy salmon avocado roll (spicy mayo on the side) and the spicy tuna avocado roll and edamame and pork gyoza for my sides, and it also comes with miso soup all for $15. The miso soup wasn't my fav and the sides were good not great, but the rolls were good and hit the spot when u want some simple sushi rolls. I think it's definitely worth it for the price!!

If you're looking for a solid, no-frills sushi spot, you have to give Avana a try! We decided to give them a try a few weeks ago, however Uber picked up the wrong order. Avana has a semi-large menu with something for every sushi lover! We always like to start with appetizers. Avana has favorites like pork gyoza, edamame, shrimp shumai, and shrimp tempura. We did an order of the Edamame, Shrimp Shumai, and the Pork Gyoza. The edamame were steamed perfectly. My only complaint would be that they were NOT salted. Most places I've been to always salt the steamed edamame. The Shrimp Shumai was ordered "steamed" and it arrived perfectly. Not undercooked or overdone! We ordered the Pork Gyoza "Pan Fried" and they were done perfectly, not too greasy. The dipping sauce was also phenomenal. If you're looking for something lighter, they do have a nice selection of soups and salads. You'll find Miso Soup and Pork, Chicken, or Shrimp Dumpling Soup. If you like salad, they have you covered. You'll find seaweed salad, a classic house salad, crab and avocado salad, spicy tuna salad, spicy salmon salad, and spicy sashimi salad. If you're a vegetarian you'll be thrilled to know they also have a selection of Vegetarian Maki rolls! My favorite category here is the raw and cooked Maki rolls. They offer solid, classic Maki rolls and a few "specialty" maki. The prices are very reasonable. A few of my favorites are the Spicy Crabmeat Avocado, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Rock n Roll, and the Fancy Salmon Maki. All the Maki rolls are incredibly fresh and flavorful. You get 8-Pieces per maki roll. You can't go wrong with any of the "Specialty" maki rolls! The salmon, tuna, and other fish are super fresh, no issues in terms of freshness. If you're looking to share sushi with a date or friends, they've got you covered. They offer combos and platters of varying size. If you're looking to cut out the rice, they also have a small selection of "Naruto Rolls" that are rolled with cucumber sheet. If you're a fan of sushi and/or sashimi, they have a phenomenal selection of fresh sushi and sashimi. The Salmon and Tuna sushi were both excellent, generous portion. The sashimi comes with three pieces per order. The sushi comes with two pieces per order. You'll also find a solid selection of sushi bar entrees, combos, and platters. There truly is something for every taste and appetite! I would highly recommend Avana for a solid, no-frills sushi spot. We ordered it via delivery and everything was fresh, hot, and packaged perfectly! I look forward to ordering here again VERY soon!

The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Whether you're here for high-end sushi, creative small plates, or comforting kitchen dishes, everything is executed at a very high level. We ordered a massive spread, and almost every single dish was a hit. The Raw Bar & Sushi: * Oysters: These were 10/10. Incredibly fresh, perfectly halved, and meticulously cleaned--not a single piece of shell in sight. We loved them so much we had to go for a second round. * 8pc Omakase & 6pc Aburi Set: Both sets were fantastic. The Aburi (torched) set is a must-try for that smoky melt-in-your-mouth texture. * Uni Nigiri: Even my wife, who usually avoids raw fish, was won over by how creamy and fresh the Uni was. * Tuna Tataki: This was the only "just okay" dish for me. It had good flavor, but I think it would have been elevated with some shredded daikon and a colder temperature. Kitchen & Family Favorites: * Foie Gras Appetizer: Rich, decadent, and a perfect way to start the meal. * Sea Bass: My son absolutely loved this; he finished the entire portion with rice. * Snow Crab Roll: An excellent option for those who prefer cooked rolls. * Tonkotsu Ramen: We finished off the meal with a hot bowl of ramen, which was the perfect savory "topper" to a great dinner. The Experience: The service is efficient and the wait times for food were surprisingly short given how much we ordered. One of the biggest takeaways was the value. The pricing is very fair for this level of quality; back home in Nashville, a meal like this would have easily cost significantly more. The Verdict: While I would love to see a few more small, refreshing salad dishes on the menu to balance out the richness, I left extremely happy. This is a top-tier dining experience and a definite "must-visit" whenever I'm back in town!

XO Seafood Udon: The restaurant specifically labeled it "wok-tossed," and it truly had a wonderful wok-hei鑊氣 (wok aroma), with an irresistible fragrance as soon as it arrived at the table. The XO sauce was extremely rich, sweet and umami, and the udon noodles were soft on the outside and bouncy on the inside; the sauce was glossy, smooth, but not greasy, allowing it to coat the noodles evenly and infuse them with flavor. The shrimp, squid, and scallops were all fresh and large, making for a very satisfying meal. The shrimp, in particular, were coated with a thin layer of starch before being pan-fried, adding layers of texture and locking in the juices. This plate removed the scallions and onions to suit my taste, and if you like spicy food, adding a little chili oil would greatly enhance the flavor. When I made the reservation online I put that the occasion it was for was my birthday- I notice that most restaurants don't pay attention to this on OpenTable, but Fuji definitely did! We were seated quickly and with no issue at all, despite it being pretty crowded. The vibe was intimate and classy- a great spot for date night, or for dinner with your parents. At our table was a card (in the pictures) which was such a nice touch and was a great start to the meal. Our waitress was awesome, and it seemed like there was a floor manager too that was making sure everyone was happy. It felt like the staff truly cared and wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time and experience. Our waitress checked in on us multiple times, and was very helpful with the menu. Speaking of the menu, I was very pleased to see the amount of vegetarian dishes! You don't see that often at Japanese restaurants! For our appetizers we got the lobster Rangoon and spicy edamame. Technically the tofu is an app but you would never guess that from the portion size. The edamame were outstanding! They were spicy as expected and were so tasty. We demolished the whole bowl. The Rangoons were also amazing- the chunks of lobster were divine. I myself love lobster and crab Rangoons, so a combo?! Amazing. Both the edamame and lobster Rangoons are can't misses. For our entrees/ mains we got the crispy soy noodles, miss Waldorf roll, sweet potato roll, tofu, and fried rice. The miss Waldorf roll is amazing, and I can not wait to go back and get more sushi. Truly the best sushi I have had in boston. There are other upscale sushi restaurants I have been to that charge a pretty penny but taste like grocery store sushi. Fuji is not one of those- it was truly exceptional sushi. The sweet potato roll was also delicious! I am very picky about my sweet potato rolls and had one that I have dreamt about since I had it in 2022. I have finally found a sweet potato roll that matches my standards. The crispy soy noodles were also amazing! They reminded e of one of my favorite restaurants when I was a kid and it filled me with such joy to eat something with that flavor. The serving size was pretty big too, and they were not shy on the shrimp! Note though, they were a tad oily (I added a little bit of soy sauce to balance it out). The fried rice was also very good and tasted like a good bowl of comfort fried rice. My parents ate it with the tofu and liked it! The only dish I would want some change in is the tofu- it wasn't bad but compared to the other dishes it definitely lacked the flavor punch you get in the rest of the dishes. The sauce was okay with it. After dinner our waitress brought a slice of vanilla crepe cake and ice cream! This was such a nice touch and it was SO good!!!!! It was the first time I ever had crepe cake but I loved it! I'm not sure if they have a dessert menu or not (we weren't asked if we wanted to see one) but I would love to go back and get that cake again! Overall I am beyond happy that I picked this spot for my birthday- I had an amazing experience and amazing food. Will definitely be back!

So we sat at the bar and grabbed a drink while searching for a place to get an actual dinner where we could find last-minute reservations. Shojo in Chinatown came up with great reviews and after looking at the menu and seeing that we could get a reservation, we headed over. It was a short walk from the Ritz and Chinatown is just such a fun place with great energy. When we walked in, we knew we had made the right call and were easily able to switch our reservation from a table to bar seats, which is always an added bonus. The place is low lit and the music is on the louder side, but nothing was excessive to the point that we didn't enjoy our time there. We ordered a variety of drinks while there - a Toki Highball draft, a spicy tequila drink with lemongrass, a few different types of Japanese whiskeys as well (they have a really extensive list). As far as food goes, they categorize their menu into Snacks, Baos, and Rice, Noodles, and Dumplings. There's a lot of vegetarian friendly options, which is always a plus for me. My highlights were the 7 vegetable stir fry, fried eggplant bao, edamame dumplings, and the Thai veggie spring rolls. The salt and pepper calamari was also really great. Everything was terrific and really unique. Service was good - not great, but they took notice of empty glasses and were quick to bring out food, so I have absolutely no complaints. Shojo is somewhere I'd absolutely return to when staying in the area, I'm really happy we all turned what would have been a very touristy, depressing experience into something with a WAY better vibe and time!
