We enjoyed our stay at Stella Mare. We felt a little crowded--we could hear the AC on the rig next to us start up and shut down throughout the night--that's how close we were. We chose a space near the playground so our kids could have space to run around when we were "home". Maybe this area is for future expansion of the park, but it was definitely spacious back there. They also were able to ride bikes into the evening as the roads were well lit by street lights and the lights others had up for Christmas. Having been a victim to bath house theft, I didn't like that the showers didn't have a changing area attached to them. I'm now a nervous nelly who doesn't like not having my toiletries and clothes all in the same area as where I'm showering. I also didn't like having to tiptoe to the changing area after showering, especially if the floor is wet. I'm not a big fan of putting myself or my kids on display, so moving from the shower to the changing curtain area I just a towel isn't ideal for me. Another downside is that the laundry is in the restrooms. If I start the laundry, Hubby can't go turn it over if I'm nursing the baby or doing something else when the cycle is done. I'd suggest avoiding spots 30 and 31 as you're right next to the dumpsters. If I could smell them on a cool day in December, imagine how they smell on a hot day in the summer? read more

We arrived after the office was closed and picked up the envelope left for us. We went to the office after I received five text messages the first day. The next day I received two text messages short novels, with rules for the park. This RV Park has no cable. Arm bands were required for the pool. I felt micromanaged. On a good note: park was clean, bathrooms were clean with the exception of the shower curtain needed to be replaced. Park was overpriced. read more

I never thought an RV Park could impress me much. Granted, I am not a very experienced RV'r, and I haven't been to all that many. However, Stella Mare is outstanding. What first struck me was how attentive, personable, and friendly the staff is. And there is no shortage of them. We never required much assistance, but anytime we did I knew that I had just seen one drive past on a golf cart in one direction or another, and I could walk 5 to 10 spots over and find them. The facilities are incredibly clean, from the bathrooms to the clubhouse to the pool to the splash pad, and even each individual site. Maybe we got there on the perfect day, but someone even uses an edger around the small grass strips that are placed between each RV site. It reminded me of how clean and manicured Disneyland is. It just felt like it was brand new. Finally, it's worth mentioning that they do their best to make the weekdays and weekends exciting, with events planned on nearly every day. All hosted by the site and inclusive in your fee. I can't believe I would ever want to come back to an RV park, but I would come back to this place without hesitation. read more

Won't even considered this place no matter how pleasant it may or may not be. Was told on phone by staffer that their new management requires "criminal background checks" on all adults (monthly stays). Don't give into this... you are handing over everything a criminal needs for Identity Theft under the guise of protecting the resort's interest. Your name, date of birth, license plate, email address, vehicle description, drivers license, credit card/debit card, telephone number, etc, information they get when you register, is more than any resort should have on you. Given the naivety of the retirement community that overwhelmingly represents RV resort guests, this requirement could easily lead to nefarious Identity Theft activities even with the strictest security practices in place. We just finished our 2nd family stay at Stella Mare and we overall love it there. It's conveniently located to all the places you'd want to visit on the island but far enough down the seawall that you aren't in overpopulated tourist zone. It's quiet and a wonderful place for our kids to play outside and ride their bikes. The pool and splash of are awesome. We love the activities they host daily for guests too. The staff are amazing! Giving 4 stars only because the internet advertised hasn't been reliable by any means for both of our stays. Another recommendation is to also have a coin machine near the laundry facilities or at least allow the front desk to break change for easy use. We have had to go offsite both trips now to get coins for laundry which was a wee bummer. We'd absolutely visit again though and are thankful for this gem! read more

At arrival we were pleasantly greeted and lead to our site. At check- in I was ignored by three people , one on the phone so that was understandable. I was the only guest in there at the time, finally a lady looked at me and said "name" I reply with a smile and Hello. That should have been her first response to me. She explained ALL THE RULES. Oh my that was my second disappointment. I have two small yorkies that could not go in a small dog play pen because that's NOT ALLOWED. I do understand some order needs to be followed but I'd rather go somewhere FRIENDLIER. 3 stars for the golf cart greeter and the grounds clean. read more

Why everyone thinks that this place is great is beyond me. I reserved and paid $600 for my rv spot 8 months in advance. Stella Mare advertised amenities I knew I would need upon arrival. We were traveling several hundred miles for a family event and I knew we would need clean showers and laundry facilities. My husband sleeps with a CPAP machine and absolutely has to have electricity. Also, it was 100* in Galveston and we wanted air conditioning. The electric hookup died in the middle of the night. We had to get up at 2:30 am to move our electrical hookup to the vacant lot next to us. Next day! Laundry day! Shower day! My husband is disabled and he needed to use the elevator to get to the men's shower and laundry room. If you use the elevator, you are SWARMED by Asian Tiger mosquitoes, while trying to figure out how to operate the elevator. The front desk staff will later tell you the "trick" to get it to run. The washing machine was inoperable and the other broken. The shower was mediocre, low pressure, and you were attacked by Asian Tiger mosquitoes while showering. Women's room! One washing machine broken, the other inoperable. Shower was the same. Lousy water pressure, while trying to avoid dead mosquitoes at your feet and smacking the mosquitoes attacking your body. After calling the office for help with the laundry, they immediately sent an employee to look at the machine. She rode out on her golf cart and checked the machine. She said that the machines are stupid and if I wanted my money back, I needed to go to the office to get it and she rode off again on her golf cart... The one good thing was the fella who drove around to collect garbage saw our electrical hookup had been moved to the vacant campsite next to us and he said he would fix that right away and he did. Very nice man and helpful. Having paid fo six days , this was a lackluster campground. We moved over to Dellanera and spent a few days there with much less hassle. Stella Mare staff offered to get in touch with me to ask about our stay, but nobody bothered to answer my email or phone calls. Not worth the money. read more

Our first visit to this wonderful rv park. Called last minute after seeing they were rated by Outdoorsy as one of the top 50 in the US. Professional staff, super clean facilities, fantastic amenities, manicured grounds and spacious sites (for the top of the line - premier site). Nice ocean breeze. Love it is far enough off main highway where you feel safe from traffic. Great location! Our only suggestion would be to get a better control of the ant beds and maybe provide umbrellas around the pool area. No shade around the pool but you can bring your own. Overall, one of our favorite campgrounds we have visited. Looking forward to returning. read more

We were excited about staying here, we got a free night and 25% off for 3 day's with the purchase of our 5th wheel. We stayed 2 weeks. Our big orange cat got out and after searching, I made flyers at the Rosenberg library. I stopped at the office to ask and was talking to a nice lady, when a gray haired lady interrupted, telling me no flyers were allowed as it was a form of "advertising ", she wouldn't even let me leave one at the desk. I posted one our camper door and someone knocked on the door letting me know they saw an orange cat by the dumpsters. I did put flyers on the electric wires around the campgrounds. Never did this lady at the main office offer advise, nor was she sympathetic. She told me if it was spotted they wouldn't touch the cat! WTF I had others, including a worker tell me what a bitch she was. Only way I will return is if my cat shows up. I will only go to Jamaica Beach RV, they are the nicest folks, helpful and always adding to the park. Never again Stella Mare, your staff sucks. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day stay. We absolutely loved everything about this park. Beautiful and well kept. Some of the best bath houses we've seen in a RV park. Loved the concrete pads and palm trees at the site. The convertible park bench was nice as well. We enjoyed riding our bikes every day in the safety of the park. The pool was wonderful. Hot tub had some broken jets and didn't get very hot but was of no concern for us. Short trip across the street to the drive up beach. We can not wait to come back. read more

I was very disappointed we made reservations at this Resort now mind you we have traveled all over the United States! We were told it was waterfront space! When we actually arrived and escorted to our space it wasn't a waterfront! We had to handicap people with us we went to the bath house there wasn't no handicap spaces . Matter of fact they only had 3 parking spaces in front of the bathhouse and those were taken. The my couldn't get to the pool. They had a little loft up by the bathhouse looking over a lake that was beautiful but if you can't climb the stairs to get up there you can't enjoy it . We had a neighbor next to us that was way over on our side in his trailer he came after us we asked him please your way over on our side please move over he told us NO! He was very rude. Now mind you I'm in a motorhome home we are here to have fun! I even talked to a worker riding a golf cart he even said he was wrong! read more

Wonderful for our marriage the grounds are manicured and super clean, so is the laundry, bathrooms and pool area. We stayed here in December and can only speak for this time of the year. Stella Mare is a little slice of paradise. Close enough to all the attractions yet far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. You are greeted at the main entrance and escorted to your site. The grounds are immaculate and the bathhouses are spotless. All level FHU sites, concrete pads with picnic table / bench, trash pick up daily. Free premium WiFi, good for streaming. They are pet friendly with dog stations throughout the park and a long dog run as well. There are actually two dog run sections for big and small. The resort is right across from the Gulf with beach access. They have a gorgeous pool, hot tub, splash pad area and playground for the kiddos. Lots of activities and stunning views from the Sea Breeze deck. A must stay when you are in the area...highly recommend! read more

I am from Galveston but have been away for quite sometime (20 years in the US Navy) and this is my happy place. My husband and I are now fulltime in the motorcoach so we have spent the past 2.5 months in Gtown being with my mom and family before we hit the road tomorrow. This place is AWESOME! It is newly opened but the amenities are great. Big pads for oversized rigs, great monthly rates, daily (multiple times a day) garbage pick up, ahem, curb service, wifi and sweet pool. There is no cable but we have direct tv so no big deal. We didn't need to use the bathhouse or laundry facilities but they were always sparkling clean. Being right across from the beach is super awesome and the view is ultra-fabulous! When we come back to Gtown toward the end of the year this is my go-to place. Love, Love, Love it here. I'm not new to full timing but I'm not an expert either. Here is what I do know, I have been to several RV parks and RV "Resorts" or resort want to bes. I have never been treated this well. I came three times to see the property at all hours of the night and day and wanted to be sure it was a place where not only people live but vacationed. I wanted to meet new people and see people out enjoying life. I did not want to see someones entire home outside, although that is ok, for me its just messy. I came to the office and talk to the staff many times and they were top notch. Always friendly and you seem to never be bothering them. They can't wait to help you next, with reservations, or places to eat, or shop or ways to enjoy the island. They have a calendar for weekly and monthly events as well. I have been to every park on this island and this place is top notch. I LOVE IT HERE. More so than any park I've been too. When I checked in I wanted one of the new tables they had but my site didn't have one yet. However I got back today and there one is waiting for me to enjoy. They helped me back in and set up and made sure all was well. Again, this place is fun, quiet, accommodating, a real experience. When I checked in, I got a ton of information and coupons for the island. Our family loves Stella Mare RV Resort! It is the most spacious park on Galveston island, has the newest amenities, and provides the most convenient location (only 3 mi from the strand). Stella Mare is a great RV park. All spaces are very spacious, room to park a couple vehicles plus RV, grounds are kept in top shape. Pool and Jacuzzi are like new, clean, attractive. Wash rooms were clean and roomy with modern amenities. Excellent location, close to town yet in a rural island setting. If I had to pick on one item that could be improved: wifi could be stronger - in space 22, anyhow. Suggestion for visitors: Due to winds off the Gulf (from the south), I recommend asking for a spot where you can position your RV entrance and awnings toward the north. I believe you'll find better shade and wind break on the north, especially if you enjoy sitting out in lawn chairs as we do. We will stay again when we visit Galveston, that is for certain. read more

Very disappointing. We had to take our American and Texas flags down because the holder was on a small rod that stuck in the ground. However, all around the park people had torches sticking out of the ground. Apparently, the issue is not something sticking in the ground, but the flag itself. Also, our daughter paid for a week in a neighboring site. She had to take her rig in for repairs mid week and her uncle was going to take the site for the remainder of the time she had paid for. They would not allow this. He had to pay full price for the two nights but she was not given a refund. This double dipping is terribly bad business and poor customer service for the amount of business we have given this place. The grounds are clean. The pool is not heated as you would expect for this price point but is nice in the summer. However, it seems they have very little patriotism or integrity. read more

This is a very nice RV resort! I booked in advance over the phone without ever seeing the place in person and I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived! Beautifully maintained grounds, splash park, pool, playground, showers, ect ect and super close to the beach. I guess you could walk if you wanted, but we drove. Took our coach to Galveston and normally we stay down the road, but noticed Stella Mare and decided to give them a try this weekend. Great decision! They had staff working until 9:00 pm on Friday night when we landed. We had a golf cart led staff member guide us to our premier spot in the back. Large side yards. Very (and I mean VERY) clean. It's all brand new, but that was probably the cleanest and most manicured place we have ever stayed in our coach. Nice (high end) street lights and all lawns cut and clean. Dog park and pool were great. There is a beach house available for rent for those family or friends who don't have an RV. Very close to the sea wall and right across the street from the beach and a local sports bar. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Becky did a great job. All documents and info handed off professionally in an organized folder (as opposed to loose sheets everywhere). We'll be back! read more

Not recommend for elderly or handicapped unless you like to be stuck in an elevator. All facilities office, rest rooms and laundry are on a upper floor which requires walking up lots of stairs. There is an elevator which is not very reliable. My wife was stuck in it for over an hour with no way to alert she was stuck. There was a phone but it did not work. She would probably still be in there if i did go and look for her after an hour and find her stuck in the elevator read more

We love Stella Mare. We are regulars there and would live there if we could. But my husband just had Esophagus surgery bc of cancer. The location is perfect. Set off the main drag but close enough to enjoy everything. We love everything about it. There are only a couple of things that keep this from being a full out resort. Every site should have a picnic table. When you RV you are camping. You need a picnic table. Not just the ungraded spots. Now a suggestion.... Swim up or walk up bar at swimming pool. read more

This is one of the nicest campgrounds we have ever spent the night at. The campground is spotless. Everything is extremely well maintained. The sites are large. The staff are friendly and helpful. The campground is located across the street from the Gulf. There are beach access points less than a mile in either direction. We stayed during the COVID-19 quarantine so there were no activities. The bathhouses were large and well kept. Washers and dries are located in the men's and ladies' bathhouses. read more

We just got back from three nights at Stella Mare, and we loved it. The park itself is new, clean, and feels very safe. The pool is amazing, and the sites are nice and spacious. The bathrooms are SO nice and clean and have washers and dryers. They also use nice toilet paper (lol) - an added bonus while camping. The bathrooms are open 24 hours now (code required), so that must have changed from a previous reviewers experience. There is beach access right across from the park which made loading up the truck and heading to the beach really easy. I heard they are adding a splash pad, so we are looking forward to returning for that amenity as well. Overall awesome resort and experience! read more

This resort is beautiful, but make no mistake, the rules are not clear. We have stayed there before, and at every resort that my wife and I have stayed at, we fly my Navy Vet Flag, and my Trump flag. We left our campsite to visit my elderly parents who were an hour away, and I received a phone call from a very irate manager who informed me that I needed to drop what I was doing and take down my flag, because he said the rules said that "no political flags are allowed"and that we would be evicted immediately! We had arrived at 10:30 at night after a long drive, and had not read the rules, but had never encountered that issue during a previous stay, but we made a quick trip back in heavy traffic to comply. I ask an employee to show me where in the rules this was prohibited, but he was unable to do so. My wife and myself read the rules from start to finish, and found NO mention that political flags were prohibited. The only requirement was that flags higher than the RV had to be approved by management, but the biggest problem here was that: A. The rule is vague, and could be applied to any flag they deem unacceptable, and B. the manager acted like a horses *ss, and was rude and unreasonable, and had an obvious power trip. If he had been more understanding, I would not be writing this review. It was obvious from the start that he did not like Trump, and that was the REAL issue. Bottom Line: Unless the management of this place makes the rules less vague, and replaces the rude and uncaring manager, My wife and I will go to other venues that respect the first amendment, and treat veterans better. read more

We are staying over the week of 4th of July. The amenities are very nice and each spot has a bit of grass. We were disappointed that there were no picnic tables at our spots. We procured one from an empty spot then returned in the evening to find it had been taken out of our very obviously occupied spot. For how expensive this campsite is you would assume they would provide a table. Also except for the very slowest internet it is not free. And it would be nice if the site had more mature trees to provide shade. read more
