Nothing special. Simple food, simple presentation, divey cafe vibes. I ordered the French toast, it tasted like something I could have made at home. Bacon was a little overcooked, had browns are not hash browns, they are diced potatoes, but they were good. No table service, you order at the counter and wait for the food to be brought to you. Drinks are self serve. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, only ate here out of convenience, wouldn't rush back. read more

The original place that we were going to go for breakfast was closed and this was the closest place before renting bikes and venturing out for the day. This place is very expensive for the quality of the food. The service is really nice and everyone is very friendly and are willing to suggest some places around to rent bikes. If you have read my reviews, I am very honest and I will say I could have probably made a better breakfast at home so that was disappointing. I asked for cheesy eggs and just got regular scrambled eggs along with potatoes and bacon, which the bacon smelled burnt, I didn't actually have it. I wasn't very impressed. However it did fill me for the breakfast. The ambience is very small and only a few tables are available. Not many people come in here and I can definitely say that he would be a last resort. $9 for French fries?! Restaurants like this a victim to inflationary pricing, and at some point consumers will have had enough. The food is fine. Not spectacular, and certainly some menu items are not the best value for the price. Our first time in Anchorage and with every new location we visit the goal is to try local restaurants like this one, and it didn't disappoint. Set in an older building, looks like an old dinner with the old 50's style barstools and such. It has the old greasy spoon kitchen behind the counter (this is a compliment, not an insult) and you can smell the various blends of foods cooking. We stopped for breakfast and it was good. We both had omelets, with no cheese, and they were good. The potato cubes (hash browns) were really tasty. Bacon was yummy. Considering the higher prices for most places in Alaska, this one wasn't to badly priced. Staff when we ordered was patient and smiled. Tho this is pretty much the extent of any interaction, as they don't circle the tables asking if anyone needs anything, it's an order and sit. Kitchen staff brings the food. After than, your on your own. I would definitely recommend a stop for the food and atmosphere. read more

We had breakfast here one morning during our stay in Anchorage. The place has great service, seating indoor and a couple tables outside. We got French Toast + 2 eggs and added a Reindeer sausage, and California omelet. The food as simple and well made, very satisfying. I loved the French toast, it had the right amount of sweetness. Good food, reasonable price, excellent service. Though the exterior and interior are not fancy, it is very clean. You order at the counter and service was immediate. The crew was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed everything we ordered and the food was exactly what we were looking for. This is not fine dining but if you are looking for a solid & tasty breakfast or lunch this is a great place to get exactly that. Completely different clientele then some bigger name places close by. This is downtown and we saw a lot of people working in the government buildings or other shops ducking in to grab a coffee or some breakfast. I'll be honest, I only tried this place because Snow City had a 2 hour wait - but I'm glad I did. It's no frills, but super good food. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out. The menu board was beautifully designed. We tried pancakes and the Alaska omelet. The omelet was huge and really tasty. Looking to eat healthier, I went for a Chef salad and a cup of Thai Chicken Soup. The portions are good, and the blue cheese dressing really stands out as delicious. Well this little corner restaurant is absolutely amazing! I feel like this place has one of the best customer service. Right before closing usually restaurants turn you right away but definitely not this one. For my first time being here in surprised I haven't been here sooner. Ended up ordering the biscuits and gravy and let me tell you they do not short you on the gravy. The gravy is a well balance ratio as there should be more sausage then gravy. The biscuits that it came with were perfectly moist and light. I feel like this place needs a bit more local hype than the place down the street. Overall great experience here, very friendly staff and pretty great food as well. Definitely will be back for brunch. read more

I went for lunch about an hour before they closed, not busy as all. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice big windows to feel like you are outside. They have a lot of selections to choose from, Breakfast-Lunch menus. I had a large Cesear Salad that was okay. But the California Burger was really good, good till the last bite. I've lived in Alaska my whole life and been going to sandwich deck for 20 years. I haven't been in a wile and paid $17 for a reindeer breakfast sandwich this morning. I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the meal and the price. No drink hash browns or anything. Just a small sandwich on a bare plate and a egg with no condiments or anything else. Ok ok breakfast place..i personally feel one will make better breakfast at home than spend money and eat at this place..the hot chocolate was horribly diluted with water and lacked the rich hot chocolate flavors..the coffee we ordered was also diluted..next we ordered the french toast which was dry and we had to pour a lot of syrup to make it moist..the egg was okay lacked seasoning..also ordered the grilled cheese which was okay after we added crushed black pepper..the fries were nice and fresh but had some weird smell due to old oil used for deep frying them..all in all spent $35 for not so great breakfast place but this was a saviour on 4th of July when all the popular brunch places were closed.. read more

Fun concept! They had a huge breakfast menu, burgers/sandwiches, seafood, salad etc. so my friend and I really appreciated the diverse menu because we were craving very different things at 2 pm! The server was friendly and casual, and the whole restaurant had an easygoing almost fast food vibe to it, with better service! The food was nothing crazy special but still tasty! Sober. If I could describe this place in one word, that's what the word I would use. Why? It reminds me of a place you'd meet your AA sponsor at. Or a place you'd have your last meal before turning yourself in after a life on the run from the law. Blame Hollywood for putting that idea in my head. Anyway, food is plain and cheap. It's your basic diner food. Décor is very "retro" in that it probably looks exactly the same as it did when it first opened in 1970-whenver. You might end up here if the line is too long at Snow City Café around the corner. You should also consider walking a couple of blocks and getting breakfast at Sacks. read more

Stopped into this sandwich shop after a long run in downtown Anchorage. Fast friendly counter service. Had the fried halibut sandwich and added a salad. Salad was nothing special, likely served out of a bag, asked for blue cheese dressing, but received an extra tartar sauce. Likely just a mistake made during the lunch rush. Halibut sandwich was the star of the meal. Warm, crunchy and simple with lettuce and tomato topped with a tartar sauce. Also had an Arnold Palmer to drink. Prices were reasonable, friendly local environment and you can sit outside. Give it a try if you are in downtown Anchorage and need a quick bite. read more

Great sandwich shop. I have to admit the sandwich I ordered was one of the best I've had out of my own kitchen. Clerks are friendly and the foot is prepared fast. $30 for lunch for 2 not including drinks so be prepared to pay. But remember, fast food is not much cheaper. With windows all around the seating area can be chilly on a cold day so dress appropriately. Nice, clean place. read more
