1/2 order of biscuits and gravy and a side of grits.

Still a great place!!! Very friendly and prompt service. I ordered a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy (made from scratch) with a side of grits. The gravy was delicious!!!! My wife ordered a denver omelette. The omelette was "stuffed" full of ham, onions and green peppers and the eggs were fluffy. We both enjoyed our meals.

On our first day in Alaska, we visited Judy's Café for breakfast--a charming, quaint spot where everyone greeted us warmly. Our order of biscuits and gravy, along with two eggs, arrived promptly and was delicious. My only critique would be that the gravy needed a touch more seasoning, but the biscuits were truly wonderful. If you find yourself in Anchorage, Alaska, it's definitely worth stopping by. Just a heads-up: they only accept cash. If you have a hankering for reindeer, this is your place. Nite: the biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs photo is only half of the order ... we had already cut it in half when we decided to take the photo.

Best breakfast in Anchorage!!! Country style hole in the wall with big portions and great service!! Cask only but have an atm inside. Not your touristy overpriced place but food was great! Tried multiple menu items and no complaints on any, do the Denali omelette!!!!!!! Would definitely recommend if you want good hearty portions and extremely nice waitresses with a sense of humor!

While in Anchorage, I was looking for breakfast and looking for a place to work and eat. I came across this restaurant in my searches and I decided to give them a try. The restaurant is great and Andy provides a very attentive service. My coffee and water were always full, she had a smile on her face and she ensured that I was satisfied with the food. I saw a lot of locals so you know it is a good place when the locals are eating there. If you are planning to have breakfast, just know that ONLY take cash but they have an ATM in their building. I went back a second time and my experience was consistent and no different than the first time that I was there. I will definitely be back!

Buscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. Too well done for me

First time trying Judy's cafe. They have kind of a small menu for breakfast. A handful of omelets, the. Usuals like biscuits and gravy, waffles, French toast, pancakes, 2x2x2 eggs, side, main. I got 1/2 order of buscuits and gravy which was two full biscuits whole covered in gravy. Gravey was kind of bland, was grey and had pepper in it. I do t think it had sausage. Buscuits were soft and fresh. I got a side of bacon and the bacon was way too crispy I couldnt even finish it. Curious what their hashbrowns were like but I would steer clear of the bacon unless mine were just completely forgot about about or that's how they make it. Service was fast and good, always on top of your coffee and water. We went on a Sunday at about 9:15am and there were a few tables open we were seated right away. We had tried on a Sunday previously and there were people waiting to be seated so if they are too busy try another day. Cash only.

Had breakfast at Judy's Cafe and ordered the Country Benedict and New York Steak. The Benedict had fluffy biscuits, tasty gravy, and perfectly cooked eggs. The steak was seasoned well and cooked just right. Heads up--they only take cash or checks but there's an ATM inside. Friendly service and a comfortable, no-frills place perfect for a classic breakfast.

Judy's rates a soft four star through no fault of their own. It's a cozy little cafe, a bit of a drive for us, one I feel was worth it. The parking area was a small dirt lot with potholes. Just like my driveway. lol. While it's small and aged it is quite comfortable with that mid-American small town feel. Food wise, nothing fancy for us. I went with today's special, the bacon mushroom omelette while Mrs. E. ordered a cheddar cheese omelette. Both were yummy and filling as were the hash browns. It's worth noting that the leftovers revealed just how greasy breakfast was (which may have contributed to the great flavour). I do love when ingredients marry in the fridge! Unfortunately, I got lazy and nuked everything in the microwave, so there's that. More importantly, it all tasted great on the reheat. The coffee was decent enough and they did a nice job keeping it filled. Just when I get it the right colour, they swing by and screw it up. That's great service. Thanks for the reheat! Both ladies were super nice and helpful. Even though we were late for an appointment, Mrs. E. strikes up a conversation with our waitress. When you hear the words "my family is originally from Mexico..." you know this won't be an Irish goodbye! I see this as a frequent stop for us. Note to myself: next visit try the grits. 09/22

Just go. You won't regret it. While not cheap, it's definitely better priced than most places. Huuuuuge variety of food and everything is amazing! The staff is all super friendly. Be prepared for a wait at times as the dining room is not big. They are cash only, but have an ATM if you forget.

I'm not a breakfast person... I don't usually eat until around 1pm which drives my husband bonkers since he loves breakfast and most places stop serving by the time I'm ready to eat. There are only a few breakfast places in Anchorage that *I* like enough to say "hey honey, let's go out to breakfast- this place just SOARED to the top of my very short list (Granny Bs, Harleys Cafe, and Snow City). What impressed me about Judy Bs is their unapologetic commitment to no bullshit. Tiny (maybe 10 tables), cash only, timeless greasy spoon that and 100% commitment to excellent food. They don't try to charm you with bells and whistles, no stupid parsley on your plate- Just amazing homemade food. And they keep the coffee coming. And based on what I saw going on around me, everything they serve is equally excellent I also noticed they have a daily homemade cake that looked spectacular, as well as the biggest plate-sized cinnamon buns I've ever seen. Everything we ordered was wonderful, but the showstopper of our meal was homemade cornedbeef hash my husband and I split that we almost had a fork battle over. I haven't stopped thinking about it- can't wait to go back.

Is a masterpiece disguised as a cheese burger the tater tots on the side? Meh! Nothing to see there. Unforgivable! I wanted to love this pizza so badly but I cannot allow anyone else to spend $28.00 on a dried out, over cooked order of cheese bread. The service was good until I was given Diet Coke instead of Coke Zero. I swear service recovery is such a lost art. C-

The atmosphere feels like a neighborhood hangout -- relaxed, welcoming, and perfect for anything from brunch to dinner. One big improvement since last year is the menu -- it's expanded and gotten so much better. Kudos to the kitchen! There are more options now, and everything feels more thoughtfully done, with better variety and stronger flavors across the board. We started with appetizers, and the steamer clams were delightfully well-seasoned.. buttered garlic in the white wine-- yum. For mains, the (not pictured) ribeye steak was cooked to perfection requiring no added sauce, pairing perfectly with my rose wine. The ahi tuna was another hit-- the wasabi-mixed sauce with every bite made it better! Portions are generous, and prices feel fair for what you get. Drinks are also a highlight -- solid cocktails (cold & hot), good beer options, and a nice selection of wines by the glass. Service was friendly and attentive, even though the place was busy. It has a lively feel without being overwhelming. Overall, Manhattan Restaurant & Lounge has really stepped up from last year and is now a great go-to for hearty food, good drinks, and a relaxed vibe. Definitely a spot I'm coming back to.

Seating is made up of booths along the window perimeter, tables thru the middle area and a large bar area with more tables and stools along the counter. The menu selection is surprisingly diverse. I was happy to see halibut as the fish for their fish & chips, as it is often cod or other white fish. I find halibut to be the best. They also have a few dishes with nods to Korean and Thai flavors. There are pizzas and dinner salads too. I went with their bacon jam burger for dinner. It is cooked to your liking and has a grilled apple, cambozola, bacon jam, arugula & house mayo. This is the best burger I've had in a long time. The flavors complement each other so well. If you are a fan of bleu cheese you will really love the cambozola. It is creamy and oozy and is amazing on a burger. My spouse tried their Cuban sandwich and didn't like that the pickles were mediocre and didn't add to the overall flavors, and that the bread wasn't crisped or toasted in any way -- the way Cubans traditionally are. He also took a chance with a appetizer off the specials menu which he imaged was Brussels sprouts however it was shaved sautéed Brussels sprout leaves, over warm couscous with lots of fresh herbs, jalapeños, and heavily spiced with bold spices like fennel. It was bizarre and not like anything we've ever tried. We liked some of the flavors but all together didn't make sense to us so we sent it back, unfortunately. Our child tried the Mac and cheese that came with purple grapes and sorbet. The Mac and cheese was good although I'd advise SRH to try a larger noodle than a small shell so kids can stab it better and get it in their little mouths. The sorbet must be seasonal/rotating bc it was cinnamon honey pear and it was crazy delicious. I'd come back for just the sorbet tbh. Other than that our red-haired bespectacled server was fairly attentive and quite friendly, even on a very busy Friday dinner rush. Parking lot just outside seems easy enough as long as you can grab a spot at busy times. Will be back in the future for the fried halibut (and sorbet!).
