It was a busy Saturday today, and it was packed to the rafters, with a waitlist, to my consternation. A host comes and greets you and takes your name, and puts you on his list. I expected a 30 minute wait at the very least, due to the amount of people ahead of us, however we were offered to sit at the bar, and we took that offer. There are 4 seats, and none were occupied. The space is bright, clean, modern, and airy, freshly redecorated and very pleasant. We didn't realise that Borealis is an extension/offshoot of Harley's Old Thyme Cafe, but it becomes apparent when you see the menu, or one of the coffee mugs that display the Harley's logo. It has a much more modern feel than Harley's however. The decor and seating are beautiful, the chairs are padded and comfy. Black metal silverware. I ordered the Borealis Benedict with home fries and an orange juice, husband got the Croissant Benedict with hash browns and a berry lemonade. My only dislike of this entire experience was that there were ice cubes in my orange juice. Orange juice is better without ice - period, even if you're American. No one keeps oranges in the fridge, as the flavour of them is best at room temperature, and as such ice cubes don't enhance the flavour of orange juice. So I took them out. I haven't marked any stars down for it though because the rest of this experience was divine. My Borealis Benedict had bacon, Canadian bacon, chorizo, poached egg, hollandaise. This was a perfectly poached egg, with beautiful yellow yolk self-saucing the entirety of the meats. The bacon was thick and flavourful but for me, the star was the chorizo, surprising, in that I don't normally like chorizo. This chorizo was different - very savoury in its lead in, and then with a kick of spice and heat. And it was presented as crumbles on the muffin. Really delicious. The home fries were also perfect. Beautifully caramelized and seasoned, the pickled onions added a sharp tangy kick, and the avocado is always creamy green goodness. I could find no fault with this dish. Husband was also raving about his croissant Benedict, he commented on the tasty bacon, and was happy with how crispy the hash browns were. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, I saw one young lady cleaning and sanitizing very thoroughly around the coffee machine. I would recommend this place 100%, for breakfast brunch or lunch, and will definitely be returning, because the menu has many offerings I want to try. read more

They were super busy when we got there and they moved quickly to get our party of 6 sat. Even though they were busy they still got to us quick and food out fast! Food was good and the portions were generous! My friends and I talked about how the salad was a random option to have for breakfast, but got it anyways to try and I'm glad we did because it was delicious! read more

Fun atmosphere nice staff large brunch variety menu. We had a big party of 8, unfortunately when I called the day before I was told they don't take reservation for brunch. We waited maybe 20min which was not bad. We all enjoyed the classic expresso coffee and various breakfast plates. The soup was nice and creamy. Sauce over the croque was not too spicy with some verde yumminess. Hash brown on my husband's omlette plate was nice and crispy. read more

The breakfast was a 10/10 experience! The beautifully presented pancakes and savory reindeer sausage paired perfectly with our meal. The coffee was delicious, though slightly lukewarm, and the kids absolutely loved the hot chocolate topped with thick, homemade whipped cream. Wow! Authentic Cochinita Pibil tacos! Took me back to the Yucatán! The flavors were brilliant and the pineapple habanero sauce served on the side was delicious! Borealis is located in the old Torchon, which was a high-class farm-to-table restaurant, RIP. However, the ambience remains! Beautifully designed interior, with a side wing aimed at a coffee bar vibe. The bench seating, tables, glassware, and tableware all had functional style. We started with drinks: I ordered a drip coffee, companions ordered americano, vanilla latte, and a mango lemonade. Unsure if they actually made one an americano because they both came out like drip but both were labeled americano in the receipt. It was solid drip coffee served in big Harley's Old Thyme Cafe mugs, and I appreciated they gave us each a thing of half & half. The relation continues with Harley Cakes on the menu - and sooo good. The other items ordered were the strawberry French toast with a side of bacon, crème brûlée toast, and the white chilaquiles with chorizo. Everything delicious, and we finished every bite. We came because of the Yelp reviews. We enjoyed dining here. There was a short line, and maybe a 10 minute wait. We had Huevos Rancheros and the Cuban sandwich. Everything was excellent! This place was very welcoming and clean. I was in love with the aesthetic of the place and etc... but I do have a lot to say about the food. In my opinion the food was presented beautifully but was the taste wasn't adding up to the looks. We ordered the tiramisu french toast, and it came with to much cream and was undercooked... The avocado toast was under seasoned and the potato soup as well. I think they could just work on the taste of their food in general. Staff was great though! read more

After seeing the recent reviews of Borealis next to Pet Stop on Dimond we tried it last night. Wow! Quick service, great ambiance, delicious food! He had the Steakhouse sandwich which was tender, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour that came with a dipping sauce complete with onions. He chose the Baked Potato soup as an accompaniment. It was thick and tasty, and full of bacon. My Chicken and waffle combo came with yummy coleslaw on top. The chicken breast meat was cooked to perfection and coated with a Just Right combination of warm spice for my preference. With the sweetness of the syrup on the waffle, the warmth of the seasoning on the chicken, and the tartness of the slaw, I know I will want to order it again! The new decor is soft and relaxing, though I loved the decor of the former Little Dipper for its nostalgia. read more
