Went to see the sunrise New Year's Day and my car got towed :((( this was one of the only places open and the staff was so kind to let us stay as long as we needed to figure out our car situation. Don't be fooled by the name, this is a Colombian chain, not Cuban, and this location may be the only one in the U.S., so other homesick Colombian friends from NYC desperately wanted us to bring them a sandwich and fries even though 1,100 miles and airport security separated us! We had two sandwiches, the 8" small was more than enough for a hearty meal. The Cuban is not a traditional Cuban style sandwich, so the Miamians who are complaining are technically correct, although the pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, and mayo was tasty. I had the Hawaiian, with ham, mozzarella, sweet pineapple, and mayo, and it was surprisingly good. The sandwich bread was great, crunchy but not too much so. Terrible experience, I made an online order to go for 5 sandwiches 14" each and I was very specific about no lettuce on them, once that we arrived home and we were ready to eat we found out that every single sandwich came with lettuce on it!!! I went here for breakfast. The location is great its in South Beach but not the crowded annoying ocean drive. The shop serves a variety of cuban sandwhiches and I got the cuban sandwhich with ham and corn. It wws outstanding, so good I even tried to remake it in my house. The bread was cooked to a delicious crunch. They have great deals on combos on par with pricing the south beach shops. They have a beer and juice selection and fountain sodas. There is plenty of parking around and an outside seating if you want to eat your sandwhich with shades in the sun South Beach style. They hand you a buzzer so you don't have to wait at the counter and can have some conversation with your party. Overall best described as a tasty treat nice and to the point. read more

Unique and delicious sandwiches!!! I tried all of there subs and I conclude each one has there own creative twist. I love to come in here cause I never get bored of the food. They use fresh and high quality ingredients. The turkey sub, italian sub and thai chicken wrap are my favorites. The fries are always hot and crispy. Plus they have this unique garlic sauce that is great to dip your fries in. The coffee is always fresh and is only $1.25. The ladies make a great cortadito!! Don't forget to try a smoothie. My favortie was the strawberry and passion fruit, it's not on the menu but the staff recommends it as their favorite smoothie. Qbano is always clean and organized. The staff is so kind and helpful. Not sure how we ended up here years ago because I typically would not go to something that looked like fast food. I think just hungry and looking for something fast to take to the beach. This is a Colombianized Cuban sandwich shop (since this is Colombia's popular sandwich chain). Do I like it better? Well, if you throw out your preconceived notion of what makes a Cuban sandwich, then you'll definitely be pleased here. The Cuban sandwich was tasty - filled with more veggies (a plus for me), baquette type of bread instead of the soft Cuban, and served with the garlic mayo dipping sauce that is the oh-so-good Colombian twist to it. But really, this place won me over for the other sandwich I tried - the ropa vieja sandwich! I wished I had more of that! And the prices are good, and a steal during happy hour (Monday to Friday from 3 pm to 8 pm where you can get a second 8" sandwich for $1.99). I came to get a juice at 8.30pm. They supposed to close at 10.30pm but they have cleaned the "machine" to make juices and they were unable to do it. I have been meaning to write a review for this restaurant for a while now as I have been eating here monthly for over 2 years. Their Ropa Vieja sandwich is great and their Qbano sauce is amazing. I am obsessed with eating it in my sandwich and with my fries, I always have to ask for an extra one. I believe their cooks do make the sandwiches a little different but I do not mind it as it's always a surprise and it's always great. I have no complaints with them. We stumbled upon Qbano, looking for a place for dinner since Joe's Stone Crab was closed this weekend. We are so glad that Joe's was closed so that we could find this place! The Ropa Vieja sandwich is the best! The manager highly recommended it. I was going to just order half a sandwich, but he talked us into a whole sandwich and I'm so glad that he did! I nearly ate both halves and it was huge! But it was so good that I couldn't stop eating it. The grilled onions and peppers in it were so flavorful with the beef, which was nice and tender. It was super cheesy too. Our favorite part was the super light and crispy toasted bread! YUM! We will definitely be back for that sandwich. I'm not sure if we'll ever make it to anything else on the menu since we have to get that sandwich every time and it's big enough for 2 people! The Tropical salad was just okay - tough to compete after that sandwich! The chicken was a bit dry and the dressing tasted kind of plain, like just mayonnaise. We got the pineapple on the side. Being that I'd eaten at Big Pink before and I like trying new stuff, I decided to grab lunch at Qbano on a Sunday afternoon. I regretted this decision before I even had my food. Let's start with the fact that the menu says a side of fries cost $1.50, and the register rung the up as $2. Not a big deal -- until I alerted the cashier about this discrepancy, and she tried to ease it over in her half-English that it was not what I thought it was. i looked at my receipt and it was still $2. After consulting the manager (really?), the cashier opened the register and refunded me my .50 cents. The sandwich was greasy and cheap -- the type of food I stopped eating a long time ago (I'll take the blame for this by even coming into this place, haha). The staff did not employ a single English-as-first-language person and they were having problems organizing which orders belonged to whom as the food was placed on the front counter. Qbano uses the old food-order-receipt-placed-on-top-of-your-food system, so I watched in bemusement as the front counter women read grease-stained receipts and discussed which customers got each order. Lastly, I asked for the special "house sauce" -- who the hell knows what's in that -- to come on the side, not on the sandwich. The same woman working the register and handling money dipped some sauce into a small cup for me, and her thumb got into the sauce as she handled the small cup. Thinking nothing of it, she matter-of-factly placed this same cup on my tray. Needles to say I still don't know what the house sauce tastes like. Qbano has a great location and looks great from the outside, but the customer service is severely lacking -- not as in them not caring, but not even being aware -- and the food is McDonald's-level to say the most. The manager was on the cooking line preparing orders. And being that this place in in South Pointe which -- is not a heavy Latin area generally -- Qbano could use some workers for whom English is their first language. read more

It's hard to say that the best part of this sandwich spot is the price combined with the location and the decadent sauces loaded on your order. I'm not a fan of the shredded lettuce quality nor the bland cold meats but it certainly beats waiting forever elsewhere for a fraction of the price. Ordering the larger sub is perfect for sharing if you're not in the mood to go the extra mile for a PubSub two blocks down. They claim to be a Cuban sandwich spot but couldn't deviate further from it in real life. The lulo popsicle is decent to cool you off on a hot day. Not a fan of the hotdog but if you compare it to quick "Cuban" yet really Colombian version Subway then you'll see the outline pretty easily. The roast beef sandwich paired with a Caesar Salad hits the spot on lazy beach days. Improving the quality of the greens used in their sandwiches would assist them in solidifying them in the area once again. I ordered the new 14 inch Turkey bacon sandwich and the picture on the board is misleading the reality of the sandwich. The turkey is thin slices and the lettuce was soggy and dark. I took two bites and told the cashier that I didn't like it she asked why. I told her why. She told me that because I took two bites that she was not going to replace my sandwich with anything else or receive a refund. I was very upset and hurt. I have been going to this restaraunt for 4 years and have ALWAYS had excellent food and service, until recently. They hired a new cashier that is the most rude employee to customers. If you've never been to this fairly new establishment, you should definitely give it a try. Upon first site I thought it was a clever name but only to Spanish speakers (or at least people who knew could recognize that it was from a Spanish word). "Qbano", nice. Now, I'm not a big fan of Cuban sandwiches because the toasted bread usually hurts my gums but we strolled on inside this brightly colored cheerful place and decided to give it a shot. Limited menu, only about six different sandwiches, including chicken, ham & cheese, roast beef, medianoche, etc.. If you're not a fan of sandwiches then this place might not be for you but neither am I so give it a try anyway. They also have salads, from what I remember. I grabbed the roast beef sandwich and I have to say it was really delicious and came nicely presented. In addition, everyone also receives a "Sandwich Qbano" wrapped mint, a cute gesture. When ordering, if you look to your left, you'll see a huge poster of a drink that looks and sounds amazing. Don't be fooled, however, this smoothie drink thing that they had was not delicious at all. When ordering, they ask you what flavor - I chose mango. Then they ask you water or milk. I chose milk. Needless to say, I expected juice and practically got milk. WEUGH. Adversely, my boyfriend loved his because it tasted like the type he makes at home...milky. =/ Pricing: Not expensive...$5 for the small sandwich and $8 for the large. When we walked in it took a little bit of time to place the order but the food came pretty quickly. Despite the name, this sandwich shop doesn't come your way via Cuba. This is a Colombian staple and it's acquitting itself nicely South of Fifth. I'd passed it many times, looked at it sideways because it just seems so out of place in the neighborhood, but, eventually, the bright colored lured me in like a moth to flame. I have passed this place for the past year or two and always figured it would not last long. But it is still here, and I know this cause I went last night. Initially, I was hoping to get a Cuban sandwich, but sandwich Q-Bano makes none of that. The staff is enthusiastic about adding pickles and yellow mustard to just about anything on the menu, and though this is encouraging, its no Cuban sandwich. What is on the menu is pretty good, and features many offerings similar to a Cuban sandwich. For instance, one can order a Media Noche which is almost the same, but sweet, and all the sandwiches feature some sort of swine derived product in one form or another -ham, pulled pork, salami, chicken? etc... Lastly, I am under the impression that at least some of the staff/patrons may have been Cubans, but I don't believe that the intended interpretation of the name of this establishment is: Cubans making/eating sandwiches. I love this place. It is a big chain down in Colombia, and this is the first location they open in Miami. I've known them since I lived there 10 years ago, and it was an obligated stop for me every time I went and visited. I was pretty happy to find it in Miami. The garlic sauce they serve with every sandwich is a secret recipe that they won't reveal. The sandwiches are not really straight up cuban. They are more like cuban-style, or cuban with a twist, since they make their own creations (they have a mexican, a hawaiian, ropa vieja, teriyaki). I can't speak for any of those creations, since I always order the super especial, and I have never gone wrong with it.
