Was looking for a nice, family friendly place and found it in this restaurant. The staff was friendly and the food was tasty. Portions were generous, and surprisingly the mac 'n cheese for the kids was not out of a box, and looked to be something cooked up just like a regular menu item, which is something I am not used to seeing for this item off the kids menu. I have always been a fan of chicken fried steak, and this was a nicely prepared one. If I had to have one gripe it is that the cook didn't seem to understand the concept of over-medium for the eggs, and my yolks were hard fried. Still, this is a minor thing. The décor was pleasing and creates a warm and inviting ambiance, unfortunately I cannot say the same for any other part of my restaurant experience there. With my booth close to the kitchen I could hear degrading commentary of two waitresses about the guests. Very unprofessional and offensive. I asked for my hash browns well done and they were served to me burnt on the outside and uncooked inside. My boyfriend's food was also undercooked. Our waitress stated that she knew my hash browns were burnt and that she saw that we ate only part of our meals. She then offered to have our meals made again, but we didn't want to spend anymore time there so we said no and left. I wish this restaurant offered even marginally friendly atmosphere. My wife and I, along with our 1-year-old, tried this place out the other day for dinner. Atmosphere: We were a little apprehensive when we pulled in to the parking lot, because the adjoining business appears to be some kind of bar, but everything looked kept up really nicely so we ventured in. We were pleased to see a very tastefully decorated interior that was very clean and nice. They seem to be going for a rustic mountain feel, but it still feels modern and clean. The lighting was warm and pleasant and it definitely had just a little bit of a "nice restaurant" feel to it (which is something that's often missing from small town places like this). Service: Great! Our waitress was attentive and very accommodating to our 1-year-old. We were surprised by how quickly our food was served. Food: My wife and I ordered off the breakfast section of the menu (can't go wrong there, right?). They have a typical American selection on the menu: breakfast food, steaks, burgers, salads, etc. I got chicken fried steak and she ordered french toast. The food definitely exceeded our expectations. It was very fresh tasting and well-seasoned. They gave us really hearty portions and the prices were very reasonable. My only gripe with the chicken fried steak was that they put some of the gravy on my hash browns (I would have used some ketchup, given the option), but oh well! We haven't been eating out very often, but I think we'll be coming back here soon! read more

We come here about once a week. The menu is very eclectic. ranging from breakfast, to pasta, to burgers. There is a guy who tends to work the whole restaurant by himself sometimes and we get better service here than the fancy places with 10 servers. The food is great, no matter what you get. You will feel welcome/comfortable no matter who you are. And the pricing is great. Can't ask for a better place in a small town when you want a variety of choices. So thankful we have this place- Oh & the strawberry lemonade is awesome! read more

Mixed bag. The kids said the burgers and fries were good (although my son ordered the kids' burger and if was the same size as my daughter's regular). My wife had the steak salad and ordered the steak medium, but it came well done. Otherwise it was good. I had the Philly cheesesteak and the meat was over cooked -- dry, chewy and flavorless. This place has pretty good service, but every time we have eaten there the food is not that great. Bland and is not worth the price.

First time here. I ordered the California omelet the avocado was rotten bacon was beyond burned. My friend had biscuits and gravy with the sausage. The sausage was burned and flipped the other way so you didn't see it at first. The biscuits and gravy were scrapped off where it was burned and the gravy was a powder mix. Not happy at all. Not sure how this place gets 4 or 5 stars. On the plus side service and atmosphere were excellent. However, the food.... Not so much .i ordered the special which was a St Louis rib basket with steak fries. I wanted potato salad but they were out right at lunch time. Hmmm indicates that they buy their potato salad off of a food service truck. The ribs were very fatty and tough. Worst I've had. Waitress returned them and I got a bacon blue cheese burger that was above average. My wife had eggs and potato breakfast. Eggs were fine but country potatoes were quite greasy. Prices were good but probably won't return. Too many other places on Hwy 26 to choose from. read more

Decent enough service to start, but after we ordered our drinks our server disappeared. 45 minutes later still no food...in fact I'm pretty sure our server was avoiding us now for some reason. After trying to get our servers attention (or anyone else's) for 10 minutes we gave up and left. No apology, no attempt to get us to stay, nothing. AWFUL! And from what I could see speed was not part if their business model. If your hungry or would like to eat within the hour do not go here. read more

Great service and a nice atmosphere, but I was VERY unimpressed with the food. I ordered the chicken strip dinner with a side of mashed potatoes and vegetables. The chicken strips were very mediocre - I could have gotten tastier chicken strips from a fast food restaurant - and I am not a fan of those places! The mashed potatoes were not really mashed, more like simply boiled and mashed with lots and lots of salt! The veggies were zucchini, carrots and squash - cooked until all nutrients were gone and smothered in butter, and once more - salt. Maybe they should offer a choice of buttered veggies or plain? If you are a fan of country-style food, this may be the place for you, but if prefer healthier, more seasoned meals, maybe you could try a salad or something.... read more

My first Time here. We split a prime rib and egg breakfast. It was the special. We had plenty to eat for two people and it was delicious. The only thing I can say is that I've never found a cook anymore that is capable or trained to cook in the egg correctly. I ordered the egg over medium. Big deal the egg there's aThe egg is cooked over easy with a doily type consistency. Another words to hot of a grill. This is a minor detail. And probably only affects a few of us that are particular about the way the eggs are cooked. I don't like any runniness to the white part of the egg. read more

After a 45 minute wait (for oatmeal and an omelette, which we ordered within 2 minutes of being seated) we gave up and left. The server didn't check back after we ordered, the manager was rude, and they didn't seem bothered by our complaint. Disappointed! read more

Delicious! We ate here for the first time on Sunday 8/17. Almost every table was filled and the food took about a half hour to arrive but it was well worth the wait. I had the pulled pork sandwich (our waitress informed us that they smoke their own pork), my wife had a breakfast skillet and our son had the chocolate chip pancakes. Everything was delicious! Our waitress made us feel like we were old friends. We will definitely be back. read more

Sandy Family Restaurant smells good when you walk in and even has a quaint country look to it but don't let the place fool you. The bathrooms were filthy, food was overcooked. Potatoes tasted like french fries and the omelet was more egg than anything. Steven's pancakes were great but mine was nasty. This place needs to work on cleaning up their dirty bathroom, slow service, checking their booths for nasty smashed spiders before seating their customers and hiring a better cook. I ordered breakfast potatoes and ended up getting chopped up fries that were over cooked. The omelette was very bland even with all the meat stuffed inside and the egg was not cooked inside completely. The waitresses 'were very sweet and a tentative they have that dialed in--just not the rest. Way to long of a wait for one order of pancakes and bacon and a second order of breakfast potatoes and an omelet. they were even that busy so what gives. read more
