I have worked with Sandy Springs Locksmiths twice. The first time they showed up 2 hours late and the second 40 minutes late. Somehow it is my responsibility to call their driver to find him. The first time they did an average job on changing my locks and the technician told me that I needed door work and that they could do it. I called a few months later to get that recommended work done. Another technician comes out and says it is not the kind of work they do. Spent 5 minutes looking at my door and tried to charge me $150 and I said no. It was their recommendation to call them back for this work, but it was a scam. The owner is rude and arrogant and hung up on me when I was trying to explain my lock situation. All I needed was a replacement key made since they are an authorized distributor of the key brand I lost and he was going around in circles and dancing around my situation. Saying stuff like, "Well, I'm not sure we can get that done, who installed it,.....". I know where he was going, since his company didn't do the original installation, he wants to make more money off me and not replace my lost key. Again, they are an authorized distributor of my key brand and they are responsible for replacing my key! Don't fool with these money hungry guys! I am handicap so when my Fob for my car stopped workings to open and lock the doors I was concerned. I pass the place all the time going to my husband's work so I thought I would see how much it be to fix my Fob. I am bad with names so I did not get the yound man's name that helped me the first time. He gladly looked at my Fob and told me I needed a new casing with the touch pad as my contacts were worn off. He did not have it in stock but told me I could order it on Amazon. So I left the shop went home and ordered it. Two days later I have a working Fob. I could not get my husband's fob casing to close so again I went back and was assisted by Joe. Again he helped me and got it to close. These guys were so helpful and nice. You must ask the right questions to make sure you actually have the real Sandy Springs Locksmith. SSL is the online one I will use. They are fast, professional and reasonably priced. I recently locked myself out of my house and called Sandy Springs Locksmith to come out and let me in. They never called me back that night so I called another locksmith who said they could pop the door open. After an hour of trying, they finally had to drill the lock out which ruined the lock and made more work for me - find a new matching lock, get it rekeyed, get it installed... That is why I called Sandy Springs Locksmiths in the first place - they pick locks. Frustrated by my experience, I called the Sandy Springs Locksmiths office to inquire why no one called me back. I quickly received a return phone call from the owner, Burt Kolker, who apologized and said that's not the way they do business. He then asked a few questions, gave me his personal cell phone to stay in touch, and made me an offer which his team delivered on today. My new lock (and added deadbolt) were rekeyed to match the rest of the locks at my house and installed cleanly and quickly at no charge. Our teen accidentally locked his keys in his trunk at school and we didn't have a spare!! Sandy Springs Locksmith referred us to a man, Jason, who came quickly out and unlocked his car! I did call to double check prices and he was lower by $10. Sandy Springs Locksmith saved the day! But, we still needed to get a spare (s) made for our teens car! I'm so grateful that they were able to cut extra keys for his car! It wasn't just cutting they also had to program the keys... it was cheaper than dealership prices!! This is the place to go. I recently moved into a new house and was given 2 keys, which were clearly copies. We always had to jiggle the door and lock to open (sometimes taking 2-3 minutes just to lock or unlock our front door). We went to Ace Hardware and made copies of the key. Those copies didn't work at all. Frustrated, I asked around was told about The Real Sandy Springs Locksmith. They did not disappoint. They recoded my key (based off the awful one I brought them) and it could not be more perfect. My front door finally opens and closes as it should. Everybody told me they could not duplicate a 2004 Honda CBR 1000 RR key (motorcycle), so as I pass this place all the time I stopped in. Very friendly and fast! I was in and out the door in 10 minutes. I had two duplicates made, one turned out to not work, so I will go back next week and have it re-keyed. No fault of the shop, many many people have told me that duplicating the key is very difficult! Would not even try! Have an older car or motorcycle and need a key made? This place is it! I recently lost the extra key to my truck and had to have a new one cut and cloned. I got a quote from a dealer and it was ridiculously expensive. A friend suggested I call The REAL Sandy Springs Locksmith and I am so glad I did. They were able to cut a new key and clone the chip without any problems. I called to get a quote for a duplicate car key. I was greeted by a pleasant older gentleman who provided a reasonable quote within 7 mins. We arrived to the business within the hour and was greeted by a friendly and professional employee. He took care of the duplication service, replaced a battery and cleaned the inside of my car remote, and provided me a key carrying case for the older key that I will use as a spare. I recommend this company if you have any key duplication or key lock needs. They are reasonable, respectful, friendly, and professional. A breath of fresh air these days. Bad Experience Initially, But They Made It Right You would think after charging me for keys that don't work, Sandy Springs Locksmith would be more helpful. They haven't. They are making me follow back up with them. And each new person I have to deal with is as unprofessional as the last one. The last person just laughed at me. I am not looking forward to trying to get my money back. I am not claiming they have ripped me off in any way. They have not lied to me or charged me more than they said they would. They are just not pleasant or making things easy. UPDATE TO THE ORIGINAL REVIEW: I didn't have to try get my money back. When I met the key technician at my car in person he was able to make the key just fine. The owner of the business has seen my original review and he has left me a voice mail to try to make things right. I also think they deducted the price of the original key that did not work from the price of the new key, so I did not end up paying for something I can't use. read more

I needed one lock on a business re-keyed and 1 copy of the key made. The tech was nice and personable. At time of payment, I was shocked that the price was about twice what I paid the last time I had this service performed (with another company) but I was really surprised to have an $8 "FUEL SURCHARGE" added to the bill even though the distance from their office to my business was 1/2 Mile. The tech told me I'd have to go by their office to discuss the surcharge and I did so. The manager was less than gracious and I will never use this company again. Four years ago I contracted for Burt and his crew to add security features for my Dunwoody condo. They did such a great job that I had them come to my new Decatur home to do the same. The price and service were excellent and I would definitely use them again. I had the StrikeMaster anti-kick-in metal added to exterior doors, security film added to 3 large glass doors, a peep-hole added on one door, dead-locks changed, and several other items. At Burt's suggestion I used the older dead-locks to create 'safe' areas inside the home instead of throwing the locks away. Before the crew left they re-keyed every lock in the house to one key. It's hard to get excited about something like a locksmith, but today I did. I needed a new key made for my Escape. While I was there, one of the guys told me they make free door keys and how I could hide it and never be locked out. So instead of having to pay $450 if I was locked out, for $5 I got a hide it pouch and a free door key. The guys were really nice and friendly. I tried to get them to replace my sons car key that was lost and they took my information several times but every time I called back they had no idea who I was. They kept saying someone would call back to make arrangements and they never did. After a week of this I was able to get Reliable Locksmith of Marietta to go out right away. My boyfriend said he tried to get them to install a safe at his place if business and they never returned his calls. I was recommended to Sandy Springs Locksmith when I was locked out of my car. I called, they assured me they could unlock it. I made an appointment -understand I was not locked out of my car at home, and had to wait in a parking lot in the rain for them. They were late, I called. I was told they were on the way--this went on for 90 minutes!! Finally when I called, a very rude and crude woman told me they could not unlock my car and they were not coming and hung up on me!! This is a professional business????? I called Buckhead Locksmith and they came immediately and unlocked my car, plus jumped my dead battery. I of course called back the company who originally referred me to Sandy Springs Locksmith to report their behavior. I have raved about Buckhead Locksmith and will continue to warn any and everyone about the lying, incapable and rude Sandy Springs Locksmith. My mother's back door lock has been broken for months. During my most recent visit, on a Saturday, I discovered she had still not fixed it. So I called Sandy Springs Locksmiths to see if they were open on Saturday (many locksmiths are not) and asked if they keep locks and knobs in stock (they do). So, to show them what I was replacing I took photos of the broken hardware in the door, then dissembled the old knob and lock and put all the pieces in a bag. When I got to the store, the locksmith told me the brand isn't made anymore, and if I replaced that lock, we'd have to re-key all the other doors in the house since they take a different key. Instead, he put the old lock in a vise and started tinkering with it. He discovered a spring was broken or missing. He went out to the van, found a broken old lock and harvested a spring from that. Within five minutes he had fixed Mom's old lock. Total bill: $15. This shop knows what they're doing, has skilled craftsmen and, most of all, has integrity.
