We have been eating at Sandy's for nearly 15 years and it is a special delight each time we drive the 80 minutes to get there. I think we come the farthest distance just to eat here, routinely. Although we would say the food quality has dipped a little in the past year, we remain loyal. More than a decade of satisfying dining has convinced us that this place is good quality overall. Sandy's is no diner. Diners are formulaic. Sure there are many little (dusty) things cluttering up the small restaurant but that is character. Sandy's is not manufactured. No one in the reviews has mentioned the elevated train, a magnificent wonder to any small child. Corporate food chains would be unable to provide that diversion because they do not have a personality. Sandy's does. I say shame on the the patrons whose negative reviews rely more on creative word usage than on facts, particularly those who were just passing through. I am not fooled and any one of the hundreds of regular patrons of Sandy's Cozy Corner are not either. The occasional grumpy server and sub-stellar dish aside, this is one of the most unique and serendipitous eateries in that part of New Jersey. Came for breakfast on a Sunday. Ordered a broccoli cheddar omelet. Waitress tells me the kitchen screwed up my order, so it had to be redone. When my order arrived what a disappointment, omelet must have been cooked at 1000 degrees, the cheddar turned into a liquid mess and the eggs were rubbery, also the home fries were cooked on the bottom but almost raw on the top and very bland tasting. I would have sent it back, but I was pressed for time. When the waitress/cashier asked me how everything was, I said absolutely awful, handed her $10 of the $13.54 and told her have a nice day. She asks for the rest, I say you're lucky to get what you got. She says, can't you see were busy.... using that as an excuse for a subpar meal. What a shame, as I was waiting to be seated was looking at all the lovely desserts there. I highly doubt I will be there to try them. What a pity. read more

Well this is a reply to Christine Cs Comment.... I take pride in who I hire as a server. And when All of my customers see this they will tell you how everyone of my servers enjoy what they do. They greet you with a smile and are very happy to see you and serve you. This is a people business, a customer service business, if you do not enjoy greeting people and waiting on people then this business is not for you. When people wake up in the morning and decide they want to go out to eat, they dont want to go to a place that the server is going to have an attitude, or not really care about what they want and just drop the food and move on to the next table , do you ??? No, your paying good money for that food and service so you should have good service. And when you make it a pleasant visit and take good care of your customers then everything else falls into place. read more

When I moved to this area about 2 1/2 years ago a new friend treated me to a couple breakfasts at Sandy's. I was impressed and came back on my own a couple times for lunch (burgers to be exact). The "Disco" burger (with provolone and brown gravy on both meat and fries) is a favorite. In addition, I'm impressed with the service: friendly and attentive without being overbearing or intrusive (I've been to fine dining establishments where they couldn't manage to achieve that balance). We love it for breakfast and lunch; dinner has also been fun for Karaoke nights when our kids get a chance to sing. The downside is the hours: they close too early for dinner with service ending at 7:30pm. We sometimes run late after school and I need them to cook for us but it's often too late to sit down for a meal. Mostly seniors but always a family friendly environment. The food is basic but sometimes basic fits the bill and the prices are family friendly as well. 4 stars well earned!! read more

My husband and I are new to NJ and discovered this restaurant quite by accident. We had a delicious breakfast. He was able to customize his omelette and my bacon and eggs came out just the way I ordered them. The coffee gets an A+. It was not bitter at all. The waitstaff was on the ball and the eclectic atmosphere made the experience pleasurable. Although this restaurant is not close to our home, for us it is definitely worth traveling a little way for a great meal. read more

I have been to Sandy's several time and I can tell you I was not disappointed each time. The food is very good and the service is great. I had a small issue with my prime rib and omg they were right on top of it. I really recommend this place. The owner Sandy is so warm and nice. She went to every table and talk with the customers, beside helping out on tables. Again can't beat this place. My husband and I are happy we found this place so close to home. read more

First time to Sandy's for my girlfriend's birthday lunch. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was some of the best we ever had. The entire restaurant is decorated to look like such a cozy little shack, and the food is just like grandma used to make. They even came out with cheesecake and a candle to sing for her unprovoked and gave her a little present. Cannot recommend highly enough!! read more

I've been visiting here since it opened in 99? 2000? never been disappointed. food/beverages are tops. service has always been friendly,knowledgeable. Sandy, the owner, if on premises, greets everyone personally, nice touch. Sandy's Cozy Corner is just that, a cozy delightful little restaurant. The owner Sandy & her staff are so delightful. The food is so delicious! We look forward to going there at least 3 times a week. Sandy's is a local cafe with great breakfast and lunch items. The service is excellent and the staff is friendly. Their prices are reasonable and they have a frequent customer club that rewards patrons with cash to use towards future dinning. A must try go for breakfast first you will like the food and price. read more

Great selection and quality of food. The wait staff is also very courteous and attentive. Great atmosphere as well. I've been there for both breakfast and lunch and had a terrific experience both times. Their omelette and sandwich options are pretty diverse and are all delicious. read more

Unfortunately the locals are ride or die for this place and it's below average. Insane amount of tchotchkes all over the place which makes me wonder how they clean the place properly. Nothing is seasoned properly. Bathroom was filthy. Keep going up the road to the diner or IHOP. read more

Fantastic breakfast! The restaurant gives you a felling of warmth and comfort. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. We traveled a bit to get there but it was very much worth the ride. read more
