After Sistory Thai in Albany closed, I was genuinely disappointed because I couldn't find anything that came close. I gave Imm Thai another try, tried Thai Table, and even Glom Thai (which replaced Sistory), but none of them had the same quality or flavors I had been missing. I also loved Banana Leaf in El Cerrito before it closed, so I figured those days were over. Then I found out the owners of Sistory had opened Saneh Bangkok in Pleasant Hill, so we decided to celebrate my aunt's birthday there. Wow, it exceeded all of our expectations. Every single dish was outstanding, and honestly, even better than I remembered from Sistory. We ordered the Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Red Curry, Spring Rolls, and the fried chicken with roti and Massaman curry. Everything was perfectly seasoned, fresh, and packed with flavor. The noodles had that authentic wok flavor I'd been searching for, the curry was rich and delicious, and the roti with Massaman curry was absolutely incredible. The portions were generous, the service was warm and attentive, and the whole experience reminded me why I loved Sistory so much in the first place. We were so full that we didn't have room for dessert, but next time I am definitely getting the mango sticky rice! As if that wasn't enough, I also learned the owners are behind Thai Lao Pakaoma in El Cerrito, which took over the old Banana Leaf location--and it's only five minutes from my house! Hands-down the best Thai food I've ever had, my wife feels the same way. We went here on July 4th for dinner around 5:30pm. There was ample parking in the lit and we got seated right away! I ordered the Roti Gai Tod which comes with crispy chicken, rice, curry, roti, sweet and sour sauce, and cucumber salad. The chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful and very crispy without being dry. Probably the best fried chicken I've ever had. The roti was also perfectly flaky and soft and pair beautifully with the massaman curry. The curry itself had a nice bold flavor, well-rounded spices that work together, and just a slight touch of spiciness. The potatoes in the curry were cooked perfect as well. The sweet and sour sauce was good with the chicken as well. My wife ordered the Saneh Neur Toon which is bone-in beef short rib in massaman curry with potatoes, carrots, and onions. It's also served with rice and peanuts. We asked for the peanuts on the side for both dishes by the way since I'm slightly allergic and they were very accommodating of this. The beef was amazing and was so tender that the mean was able to fall right off the bone. You can tell that they really slow-cooked the beef for hours and it came out so perfect. I don't even care for carrots but wow even the carrots were perfect. Both dishes had ingredients and flavors that felt very intentional and paired perfectly together. I have never said wow at a dish before in my life but this was the first time I actually said wow because I had never tasted anything so perfectly made before. We also got 2 drinks, a Thai iced tea and a Krungthep, which is a cocktail made of fermented wine, lychee syrup, anchun syrup, and blue curacao. The Thai iced tea was very authentic and the flavor was very bold which we liked. The cocktail was very smooth and refreshing as well. The lychee flavor really pulled through to bring the cocktail together. Overall, this is probably the best restaurant I've ever eaten at, I can't think of anything else that tops this place, especially because I've never experience the sensation of saying wow from tasting food before. Kinda easy to miss this place if you don't know it's there. It's tucked away from the busy part of Pleasant Hill, and honestly doesn't look like much from the outside, so look for it. We came on a Friday evening expecting a wait since it was pretty packed, but somehow they still found a table for the 3 of us pretty quick. Service was friendly and on point. Nobody kept us waiting and all the food came out faster than we expected, even with the restaurant being full. Inside is pretty simple... black minimalistic tables/chairs, nothing fancy, but I did like the little blue plates they serve everything on. Nice little touch. Food was solid overall. The Tom Kha soup had a really rich flavor and was probably my favorite thing we ordered. The tempura shrimp was alright, not bad, just nothing that really stood out. Coming from the LA area we had high expectations after dining at Thai Emporium in Westwood. I was running errands in Pleasant hill/ Martinez area and grabbed a. Quick lunch for takeout. It used to be Sherrys Kitchen which we had frequented for Breakfast. Now it is a quaint small Thai place which was serving Lunch. I had wanted or was craving Pineapple Fried rice. Unfortunately it is not on their menu. I settled for Thai Fried Rice with Chicken. They gave me a window of 10-15 mins which was fine since I was picking up some Dry cleaning nearby. The order was ready pretty quick and it was really good. Mother's Day was my first time visiting here all the way from the Peninsula. The service was great and I was welcomed promptly after walking in the door and waited just a minute to be taken to my table. I had made a reservation because I didn't know how crowded the place could get especially on Mother's Day but glad I did. The food was amazing and tasted great. It had been a while since I had eaten Thai food but coming here definitely reminded me of how much I missed it. I ordered the red curry chicken with a side of Jasmin rice. This was my first time trying red curry as I usually order yellow curry. I do have to mention that it was spicier than I thought and definitely made me have a runny nose but nothing I couldn't handle lol. This was my second time visiting Saneh Bangkok in Pleasant Hill and overall it continues to be one of the better Thai spots in the area. The cocktails are creative, the ambiance is really nice, and most of the dishes we tried were very flavorful with just a couple small things that fell a little short this time. Service was good throughout the evening. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and answered all of our questions about the menu. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere. In the evening the lighting is dim which gives it a more intimate feel. It is a great place for a date night or dinner with friends. We started with cocktails and tried three. I ordered the Rattana. It was good but slightly sweeter than my personal preference. The drink is very floral forward so if you enjoy rose flavors you will probably really like this one. We also ordered the Saneh Bangkok cocktail which I thought was very well balanced. It had a nice mix of tartness and sweetness with a little kick from the dried chilies. My personal favorite was the Mahanakhon. It was very refreshing and the combination of orange wine with passionfruit and pineapple juice paired really well with all of the food. One of my favorite Thai dishes anywhere is papaya salad and theirs did not disappoint. I like that the papaya pieces are not perfectly uniform because it adds extra crunch and texture. The chili lime dressing had the perfect amount of spice. Next we ordered the roti dip. Flavor wise it was very good. The roti was buttery and flaky and tasted great with the dip. My only small complaint is the portion size. You are given one small piece of roti so if you are sharing with more than two people I would recommend ordering another one. For our main dishes we ordered the pad see ew with chicken, the pad gra pow with beef, and the massaman curry with jasmine rice. The pad gra pow and the massaman curry were both excellent. The curry was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. The one dish that fell a little short for me this time was the pad see ew. It is usually one of my favorite dishes and the first time I had it here it was very delicious. Unfortunately on this visit it had a slightly bitter almost burnt taste. For dessert we ordered the mango sticky rice. The mangoes were perfectly ripe and fresh and the sticky rice was warm and comforting. My only note is that it was a little sweeter than I expected. It may have had a little too much condensed milk but it was still very good overall. Overall I would definitely come back. The cocktails, papaya salad, and curries are worth returning for. Tip if you are sharing appetizers with more than two people order an extra roti. Also do not skip the cocktails. The Mahanakhon was my favorite. read more

For an appetizer we got Goong Grabog (Marinated crispy shrimp rolls, side of sweet and sour sauce). The shrimps were tender and crispy. The sauce was homemade and sweet with a slight kick. My FIL got the Suki (soup with silver grass noodles, egg, chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, carrot, onions, cabbage, sesame soy bean broth). He loves a good soup and said it was super fresh and tasty. He finished the whole thing. My husband got the Pad Kee Mao (Flat rice noodles, homemade spicy sauce, choice of protein, eggs, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, basil), he said it was super fresh and flavorful. Their noodles were also excellent. I got the Kua Gai (Flat rice noodles, homemade sweet sauce, egg, chicken, shrimp, chopped romaine, green onions, crispy rice paper). My mom has been wanting to try Thai food for the longest time and after doing some research on highly rated Thai restaurants in the pleasant hill/concord/Walnut Creek area, I found Saneh Bangkok. Each table is equipped with a mini lamp which creates an intimate atmosphere. Open bar area. Table seating. This is a great spot to take a date. Service: 3.5/5. When we entered, no one acknowledged us. One staff making drinks, one staff on the phone and the other is delivering food to the table. We stood there for a few minutes before the staff on the phone hinted that she will be right with us. After seated with the menu, no water was provided. I saw one girl bringing water to another table and packing the customers leftover but there was no intention of bringing us water. A male wait staff finally approached our table, further acknowledged our presence and provided us water. He took our order and periodically checked in on us throughout dinner. Hence, the 3.5 stars is solely because of him. Otherwise, it would have been 1 star for service. Food: 4/5. Between 2 people, we ordered the crab fried rice, pad Thai with beef and mango sticky rice. Portion sizes were very generous. We left with a box full of pad Thai. The highlights were the crab fried rice (large chunks of crab meat) and the mango sticky rice (just the right amount of sweetness and tart). The crab fried rice was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The pad Thai was just ok, the beef was over cooked and rough. Cost: $$. Solid prices given portion sizes and taste. Will I return? Located off a main road in a strip mall with ample parking, expect to be put on a waiting list during peak dining hours but worth the wait. The fish was fresh and tasty, and came with a fried rice with amazing flavor. The Pad See Ew was good, although I would probably for the Pad Kee Mow next time (my mother doesn't like spice). The only thing that didn't appeal to me, was that the fish dish came with steamed vegetables? Cabbage/Carrots/Green Beans. Is this normal for Thai Cuisine? Roti with Curry Dip: when I saw pictures I was so excited it was the pull apart roti and not the pancake version BUT it was hella smaller than I thought lol the size was 1/5 but the flavor of curry 5/5 Crispy Tofu: this was my husbands order, can't really go wrong with this one, I did like how the sauce had a little kick to it Crab fried rice: I won't say where my favorite one is from but this was kinda meh for me. I wanted it to be better because everything prior was so good. It was missing some flavor for me and the crab lump meat was kind of just sprinkled throughout. HOME RUN!!! What a great family restaurant. Great vibe! I took my Thai wife for date night! She loved the food and she is very picky about her Thai food. Amazing flavors! We will 100% add this place in our favorite list! The family is warm and welcoming... Service was really personal as they took time to explain the menus! The portions are very large and filling. BEWARE!!! I couldn't stop eating! We've easily eaten at 25-30 different Thai restaurants, this is our favorite! read more

Saneh Bangkok has become one of my favorite thai restaurants and I love bringing friends and family here! I recently had a birthday lunch celebration for a group of 12 people. I made a reservation over email and Mickey was very helpful and suggested to preorder family style for my big group. The food came out quickly and was all delicious! Some of my favorites are the tod mun appetizer, pad thai, pad se ew, thai basil chicken, and thai fried rice. All classic thai dishes cooked to perfection! I went to this restaurant on a busy Friday night. My experience from the first time I went there was so different, but I'm glad to see they're thriving. There was no parking available in their lot, but there's plenty of parking in the lot across the street. We had a reservation but were given a table right next to the door which was drafty. The place was buzzing and so incredibly loud I had to raise my voice to talk to my friend. Service was not great, the woman helping us was very lackluster and not attentive, and there was a man who was a little better but he wasn't our main server. I had to ask for a fork, and then a spoon, basic needs. Our curry came out way before the rice and was very spicy. Everything was super salty and potentially had MSG as my tounge felt fuzzy and I got a headache after. I definitely felt the after-effects of the heavy salt, plus I was clear to the server that I was allergic to peanuts (mild allergy) but there was peanut in something as I had an allergy attack later. We were told that there wasn't peanut in the curry that came with the roti, but perhaps that was the culprit, or perhaps something was cooked with peanut oil. We wanted a dessert since it was my friend's birthday but it took forever to flag down the server, and then they didn't have anything that looked good to us on the menu. We ended up getting dessert at the neighboring Mexican restaurant which was a good choice. read more
