The (viet iced coffee) cà phê sữa đá was also one of the best I've had - strong, sweet, and so good. You can tell they put a lot of care into their food. I had lunch here with a friend, and I got their #1 Combination Special, which I enjoyed. The noodles had the right texture, and the meat was tender. It was also very filling. One thing I didn't like was that they packaged the chopsticks, knife, spoon, and maybe a fork, too, in a wax paper bag. It's a waste of a bag because utensils for customers should be clean regardless of whether they're in a bag. I also thought it was unnecessary to give us so many utensils. For example, I obviously didn't need a knife to eat pho. For dessert, my friend and I split the Three Color Dessert. The drink was decent, but it had too much ice. I was also disappointed that it came in a plastic cup plus another plastic cup for us to split it because I prefer reusable cups to reduce trash. They also provided prepackaged single-use utensils for us to eat dessert. More specifically, inside that plastic bag was a plastic fork, a plastic knife, and a napkin, which was excessive given what we were eating. Fortunately, I knew that we had already been given metal spoons in the beginning, so my friend and I simply used those metal spoons and told the server to take back the single-use plastic utensil packs. As a side note, we paid with cash and got a cash discount. Overall, the pho was great, and the dessert was decent. There are a few improvements they could make to reduce waste, but I would recommend going to this place if you're looking for Vietnamese food in Walnut Creek. Most authentic and tasty Asian places have "rude" staff who are just straight up direct and some find that off putting. This is one of those places. When ordering I missed the tip screen portion of the transaction and I joked "I knew this was going to happen!", to which the employee waspily replied with "then why did you miss it?" That felt unpleasant as a customer. I almost wanted to cancel my order but I reminded myself restaurants with these kind of staff usually have authentic great tasting food. Ok we are loyal to Kevin's down south in Walnut Creek, but wanted to investigate! Interior was quite nice and fancy, compared to most viet places i've tried. Service was nice as well. The egg rolls were very fried, but i guess that's what makes them good! The pho broth was very rich, but too rich that it was salty. I even poured some water to dilute it. What i loved was the meats they had, they weren't stingy. Everything was so tender and yummy! Overall we live closer to Kevin's so I think we'll stick to there, but if you're up north it doesn't hurt to try. read more

4 stars for a superb Bahn Mi (Vietnamese sandwich)! Ordered take out at the counter on a Sunday before 7pm, and my sandwich was ready in 10 minutes. The Grilled Chicken sandwich was flavorful & delicious, on a Vietnamese baguette that had a satisfying crispy crunch to it. It was a good size and decent portion of food, as well. Minus one star for their pricing & payment policy. The menu lists the cash price for food items, which can be misleading if you're not paying attention to the policy sign in the restaurant (separate from the menu) or not reading the fine print on their website's menu. If you pay with credit card, they charge you 3% extra! Most people that I know don't often carry cash, myself included. This place was really good. I'm only giving it 4/5 stars since I was sick when I tried it. The pho broth is really good and don't forget to get the side of pickled onions! The coconut coffee was okay for me. Since I was sick it just tasted like sweet milk. The service was great. Everyone was very attentive. We had like 3 different people check on us every 15ish mins. A cold, overcast day calls for pho, and I've been looking forward to trying J's Pho Cafe, which had recently opened in the neighborhood. We arrived around lunchtime when the restaurant was bustling; fortunately, there was one available table right next to the door. It was a bit chilly sitting next to the open door, but we were grateful that we were able to be seated right away. We browsed the menu, which offered a variety of pho, rice plates, banh mi, and other Vietnamese dishes. I ordered the chicken pho because I was in the mood for something comforting but not too heavy. After placing our order, our food was brought out relatively quickly - along with a neat, wrapped bundle of utensils including chopsticks, a fork, a metal spoon, and a soup spoon. My pho was served with a plate of fresh toppings, including bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeño, and lime. Upon adding in my toppings and a healthy drizzle of Sriracha, I dug into my noodles. While I sometimes find pho broth to be bland, this broth had a rich chicken flavor that was only enhanced by the lime and Sriracha. The chicken pieces were thinly sliced and tender, and there was a decent serving of vermicelli noodles. The other members of my party ordered the wonton soup and spicy beef soup specials, and they had no constructive feedback on their dishes. Pretty good place to get Vietnamese food. Their menu isn't the huge extensive type but small and done better (quality over quantity). Their service was actually pretty good, kind of different than what you would get at a normal Vietnamese place. The restaurant is clean with cleanings after every service. They had some of the large screen TV's from the previous fried chicken place so it is put to good use. Overall it was a good experience! We have just found a very good inexpensive Vietnamese restaurant in Walnut Creek. Food is good authentic Vietnamese food. Four of us ordered 3 appetizers 1)egg rolls with taro inside, delicious. 2) spring roll with grilled pork, very fresh & tasty. 3)fried chicken wings, crunchy. We had also ordered a spicy beef noodle, a pork chop over rice, a brisket & beef ball pho, and a crispy noodle. They are all delicious. After meal, they gave us some oranges too. Too pricey for my pocket book. Worth a try if you want to check out new places. We got Bo Ne with beef ($25.99) which not many Vietnamese restaurant serve in this area. I was excited to try the Shaking Beef ($20.99) and was disappointed that it looks and tastes like a chinese stir fry beef. Shaking Beef supposed to be crispy outside and also comes with a lime and salt and pepper dipping sauce. We didn't get that. The tomato rice that came with it was good. Cooked chewy and not mushy. I am not sure if I will go back because there are lots of other places here that serves banh mi and pho and appetizers with a more appealing price. read more
