We've tried this place in the past and had their lunch specials, so we decided to come back for a late lunch. we got thai iced teas to start, then ordered the papaya salad, drunken noodles, green curry, eggplant basil, and thai fried rice. everything was really well presented and tasty. nothing was too spicy but everything still had a good amount of flavor. The only thing is that the portion sizes are a bit smaller, especially for the prices. our server was really attentive and nice though. the restaurant itself is also really beautiful with all the pretty golden decor. Recently went back on a Friday around 7pm as a party of two and we were seated immediately! Lobster Pad Thai - A unique spin on pad thai and yummy! I'm glad I tried it, although I don't think the lobster adds that much to the dish. Next time, I'd probably stick with the classic chicken or shrimp. I really wanted to like this place more because the interior is absolutely beautifull. It's one of the nicest designed Thai restaurants I've been to in the WC area. The seating is very comfortable, the space feels upscale, and if you get one of the Locust west-facing windows around sunset, it's a pretty nice atmosphere. The host made a great first impression with a warm welcome and got us seated right away. After that, though, the service kind of faded away. Our server rarely checked on us, and when we were ready to pay, we waited for quite a while before finally getting up and finding him ourselves to ask for the bill. As for the food... it was just very average. The Tom Kha soup had a strange chlorine-like aftertaste that was hard to ignore. The lamb shank looked good but was a bit dry, and the garlic pepper chicken was just... there. Nothing bad, nothing memorable either. Overall, it feels more like a stylish cocktail lounge that happens to serve Thai food than a destination restaurant for the food itself. We had a great experience here! The hostess got us seated quickly and was great at sharing the specials. I got the slushy drink with a run floater and it was perfect on a hot summer day. This place is awesome. It was our first time and we had called for reservations. We ended up arriving early but they still seated us right away. The service was very friendly and attentive. The decor is modern and halfway through our dinner the music turned up and it had more of a club vibe with flashing lights etc. While it doesn't seem geared towards kids necessarily, our waitress was very fun and nice with my daughter so the can do it all. There was eventually a server in shorts and sunglasses (at night) who kneels at the tables to present your drinks to you. It was very entertaining. The food was awesome. My mother-in-law says it's the best Tuna Tower she's ever had. The crispy rice salad was fantastic and my Khao Soi was incredible. My father in law asked for his curry extra spicy and they did exactly that, so make sure you can hang if you ask for it. We will definitely be back. I would suggest though that they give you more lettuce to wrap the crispy rolls. They were really sparse about that. For my main entrée I had the Pad See You with shrimp. The protein cost me an extra eight dollars for a total of $30 for the dish. A bit pricey in my opinion, although it was quite tasty. The fried banana and ice cream was good however I wish there had been more of it. The service was really good too. It's has a nice interior also. This establishment is worth patronizing. If you can find parking on the street nearby, grab it! The parking garage is outlandish and has an inaccurate count. When I stepped inside the building, the hostess wasn't rude, but she wasn't very welcoming either. It wasn't until I met the one-woman show. She was the bartender, waitress, and I believe manager/owner. She was such a joy to be around-some of the best customer service I had received in a long time. She served me a watermelon margarita mocktail. It was a nice rephrasing drink! The calamari was way too thick for my liking. You had to put each piece of calamari in your mouth to avoid taking a bite and making a mess. It was nicely breaded, just not my style. The garlic wings were piping hot when took a bite. Be careful! And l am a all flats type of girlie! I know if I had ranch, it would be on and poppin! Finally, the Crab Fried Rice. If you are a crab lover, get this! You will not be disappointed! Thai iced tea ice cream( loved this one), mango ice cream, mango slices and sweet rice, and a fresh strawberry and mango slices and a mango mousse cake slice. All excellent! I was surprised how big this was, so don't need to order any other dessert if you order this!!! Then my favorite fried banana fried in like a eggroll type wrapper. Smooth and yummy! And coconut ice cream complimented it perfectly. 10/5 So here you have an idea of menu offerings. All of them delicious and service and ambiance wonderful! I had a group of 12 in our party. It was a nice place to have a party. They loved all the drinks from lychee martini, Thai iced tea spiked and regular Thai iced teas and one with a basket drink. I've had so many lackluster Thai food experiences this year I was beginning to give up trying new places. My friends got married and did a celebration dinner! They booked a private party and the restaurant had a private room in the back. There was at least 20+ people and we were able to fit comfortably. The ambiance was very warm and romantic with the lighting and decor. They also had a separate table for guests to put gifts or their bags at. The food were all on one side of the room and they were delicious! I didn't take note of every single food but it was good! The food is self serve. The only thing is that, they didn't give us bowls for the curry, but I guess you can pour the curry over rice haha. They also had servers that came around and took our drink orders and also refilled our water. The Thai tea was delicious and sweet. There was a dessert menu and we ordered the big platter to share with multiple people and it was yummy! They also gave us ToGo boxes cause there was a lot of food leftover! That was nice! Our server was quick to get us settled with water, and the service throughout the night was amazing--very attentive and kept checking in to make sure we were doing great. Pepper beef was delicious but felt small. The mango in the mango sticky rice was tart, but then it's not the mango season! Service was nearly perfect. Alice kept her sense of humor and was helpful. There were a couple of errors in the orders but no big deal. The bartender, Christian, came out to the table to help with the drinks orders. Very helpful! Definitely time for an updated review for Torsap. My previous review referenced my first visit to this place with a friend of mine on a night where the service left a lot to be desired. Since then, I've been back a number of times with my partner, and the experience has consistently been much better, to the point where it has become one of our regular spots in WC. So, they have an amazing deal of $1.50 oysters Monday through Friday 3-6pm, and all day Tuesday! Prolly shouldn't be telling y'all this, I wouldn't want them to run out, but there you go, you're welcome. And the oysters are always fresh and nicely sized, they don't cheap out.
