    Chicken Tikka Masala

Everything was great! Went here for lunch with a friend! We didn't know what mango lassi was so our water let us try it! So one! My friend and I shared the chicken tikka masala and we chose mild. You can choose mild or medium and we had it with naan bread. You can choose it to be buttered or not. So nice! Food was delicious and super authentic! Ambiance was nice and calm.

Had dinner last week and the experience was decent but not exceptional. We sat outside and they didn't even wipe the table for us- it was grimy. The service was prompt - bottle of water is a good idea but the water was room temperature- not cold. The food was pretty decent but not great. The noodles and bhature would be a 7 or 8 out of 10 but the chole as maybe a 5/6 in my opinion. The menu at this place is very extensive so lots of other things to try if we are in the area and craving Indian food.

Really enjoyed our experience at Sankalp! The food had such an authentic Indian taste and reminded us of home. We tried the sweet & sour soup, dosa, dahi puri, sabji, and moong dal halwa everything was delicious and flavorful. Great service, very clean restaurant, and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely recommend Sankalp for authentic Indian food in Carlsbad!

A week ago, one of my team members, originally hailing from Indian region of Gujrat mentioned to me that there is a very good Indian restaurant in north county that serves authentic Indian food, representing various regions of India, from South Indian Dosas to Gujrat's lentil halwa, from Hyderabad's famous dum biryani's to Indo-Chinese cuisine... well, I took my entire entourage of dozen engineers there, it turned out to be having last minute complex wide gas leak issue.. well, we left for a fallback Persian restaurant that day.. fast forward to this week, and I went back to Carlsbad/Oceanside area, and ordered a stir vegetable filled lentil dosa, with coconut chutni, some lentil soup, grilled prawns soaked in garlic infused sauce... the dosa was great, especially the coconut chutni.. the prawns were good, but I was not done yet.. asked for best dessert in the house .. told them do not give me run of the mill gulab jamins or ras malai Indian desserts.. then I was introduced to moong daal (lentil) halwa, dipped in desi ghee, garnished with roasted almonds, pistachios, and I paired it with milk masala tea.. wow!! I mean double wow!!.. this halwa was heavenly.. it simply excited my taste buds to new levels, and with masala milk tea without sugar was a killer combo.. I had a very lengthy conversation with the guy who introduced his Gujarat hometown recipe about the need to highlight this halwa.. finally, the presentation of the food was great.. ambience was nice.. highly recommended, especially for the moong daal halwa!!

Literally the biggest rip off I've ever had at a restaurant. $28 for lamb curry - 5 small pieces of lamb and all broth. Friendly staff but I could have gotten more meat from a vegan place.

Was craving for a Triple schezuan and didnt find it around San Diego and so my search brought me to this place. The triple schezuan was great. Only thing i felt was it was too much noodle and too less rice. Shifting that ratio a bit would make it perfect. Chicken manchow soup - This took me straight to my favorite chinese place in Bombay. Looking forward to checking out the rest of their menu. Some of the food others were being served looked edy good!

Amazing hidden gem in a mall. Its in a very busy location and recently opened. The owner and staff are very nice and very hands on. Service is fast and lots of options for Vegetarians and meat lovers. Tried the vegetable barbecue sizzler and it was pretty decent. Very flavorful esp the chutney. The chatpata dosa was average, I wouldn't try it again, same for the chutney and sambhar. The vegetable jalfrezi and naan was absolutely amazing!! We couldnt stop eating. The owner kept asking about food quality which shows utmost care for food and people. The kids dosa was pretty good too.

I was not a fan. The food was okay, oily and chunky. The server was pushy and not very pleasant. The place itself was really clean and pretty. Not going back!

Was running around and started to get hungry. Then, I remembered I saw this place when I had gone to the mall a couple days prior, so I decided to try it out! I can't help but get my usual, butter kitchen and garlic naan! My Indian food fix was met! The flavor was very good! I couldn't finish it, so I took it to go, and it was definitely enough to get two meals from it! Yay! They had so much on their menu, and I want to go back to try the other items! Definite must try if you are in the area!

We recently got a recommendation from a friend to try this new restaurant in town so we decided to give it a shot. As soon as we arrived, parking was easy since this restaurant is located in a mall. There was no wait time and we were seated almost immediately. We got a thumbs up cold drink because it had been so long since I had one. We also ordered the chicken biryani, paneer balti and jaipuri veg. Since the gravy items came with rice, we only ordered 2 portions of garlic bread to share amongst 4 of us. The food came out pretty quickly. The presentation was 10/10. However, the quantity looked less for the price. We decided to stop overthinking and dig in. The biryani was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The paneer gravy had a pickle like taste and had an interesting flavor. The jaipuri veg was tasty and packed with vegetables. The garlic bread was roasted well and was soft. Overall, the food was authentic and tasted great. However, we felt the gravy portion size was too small for the price. I recommend trying this restaurant. However, it is a pricey one!

Tears of joy when we saw the Sankalp marquee going up, and more happy tears when we took our first bite - Sankalp is excellent! There's more and more Indian places popping up in the area over the past few years, but Sankalp easily tops them all. Prices reflect the quality of food, menu, and ambiance. It isn't cheap, but neither is anything about the experience. The menu is expansive. The dum biryani is so hearty and delicious, and we love that there are dosas and uttapams on the menu as well. This is a local, family-owned business so it feels good eating here for many reasons.

i went in because outside it looked like they had a lunch special! but turns out it's only if you get takeout. since i already committed to eating here, i decided to pay full price for what i normally get at indian/himalayan places: daal. the daal was actually pretty good, i think they added lime which added good complexity to the dish. besides that, portion was very small, and dish was way too pricey. i will not be returning

Beautiful area with lots of kids playing by the fountain. Sitting is inside or outside the restaurant. Lady who greeted us were very nice. All tables were taken outside so we sat inside the restaurant looking out to the fountain area. Place was decorated nicely with pillows on some of the sittings. Really cute place and cozy. Three of us were hungry and the aroma coming from the kitchen made us twice as hungry. We ordered 2 vegetable dishes, Palak Paneer and Aloo Matar. The Palak Paneer which is spinach with cheese was delightful. It is our favorite vegetable dish and tied our entrees together. It's comforting and savory. The Aloo Matar fresh peas and potatoes were as delicious but hard to compare with the Paneer. I did like the peas a lot. For our entrees we had the Chicken Kadai, Lamb Tarkari and Chicken Tandoori. All came with basmati rice. The chicken kadai had a nice spicy kick. The lamb was tender and lots of cinnamon notes. The tandoori was crispy, tender and juicy. The Garlic cilantro naan was tasty, soft and buttery and great with soaking in all the curry sauce. All the flavors hit the right spot and were all delicious! We had a tiny leftover left of the rice, naan and Aloo Matar. Otherwise we devoured our entire meal. It was that yummy!!! We love this place. Everything about our experience felt like your grandmother or aunties made these food just for you. It was that authentic and cozy! If you're by Carlsbad and want to experience the taste of Nepal, Indian and Tibetan cuisine, this place is for you. They will treat you like family. This will be our go to place when we visit Carlsbad again. Will be back!!!

I got the shrimp vindalu, which had great flavor. Each bite was a flavor explosion to my tastebuds. The shrimps were very tender, and the potatoes soaked up the sauce so well. Paired with the garlic naan, the meal was simply divine. Not only was the food amazing, the man behind the counter with the curly mustache was incredibly nice. He gave us recommendations, described some of the food, and even chatted with us a bit since the store wasn't too full. Since we were all so happy with our experience, we decided to go back the next day for lunch! This time I ordered the chicken lunch combo, which came with rice and naan, and I chose to get butter chicken and chicken curry. The lunch meals are premade and served from warming tubs, as opposed to the made to order dinner meals. It was still very delicious however! The butter chicken had a rich, pungent flavor, and the meat had a deep red color, I'm assuming from hours of marinating. The chicken curry was great as well, but not quite as good as the butter chicken. I also got a mango lassi, which I had heard all about but had never tried. It was super creamy and sweet, and was perfect to wash down the spicy curry. This restaurant has a few other locations all across SoCal, and each one is owned by a different members of the family, which we learned by talking to the man behind the counter. I would definitely come back, this is the best Indian food I have ever had.

I decided to get a mango lassi, naan, and chicken makhani, and the woman working the counter asked if I was ordering just for myself. When I said yes, she recommended the combo which includes rice and naan. I love a combo, and this one sounded like a really good deal. It also came with the option to get double chicken makhani or to add another entrée selection. I chose the malai kofta. I appreciated her suggestion, and considering how late I was there, I left a nice tip. When the order was ready about 10 minutes later, she told me that she had thrown in a couple of extras. Instead of making me feel like a burden for coming in late, they treated me with kindness and generosity. I say all of this not so everyone who goes here expects freebies toward the end of the night, but so that you know the service is top-notch and the food is a great value even without the bonus add-ons. If I find myself over here again while I'm still in San Diego, I will absolutely pick up takeout from Punjabi Tandoor.

We decided to just sit and as we did a worker came out of the kitchen and we just nodded at each other as we sat down. That pretty much sums up the service we had - very no nonsense and no conversation. This doesn't bother us much, but if you are the kind of person that likes to be attended to then you might have felt a little weird about it. They also weren't playing music for the first 10-15 minutes, so it was a little awkwardly quiet. Once the music started back up, I felt like the atmosphere got a little better. Food 5/5 I had checked out their menu online and was really excited to see they had Pani Puri! I have always wanted to try it, but it isn't very common in Indian restaurants. We really enjoyed it but I personally would have liked an option to up the spice or maybe have some chilis on the side. Veg Samosas were perfect - no notes! So yummy with the green chutney Tikka Masala with Chicken - really can't go wrong with this dish but man this one had us scraping the plate! So good and the rice comes included which is not always included so that was nice. Garlic naan and was also good! Perfect with the Tikka Masala Mango Lassi was good - not the best I've ever had but it was still refreshing in this hot afternoon.
