My Mac Mini was running slow and creating a lot of problems. I took it down to the Tech Exchange planning on buying a used one that was working but they suggested a "tune-up" where they would check the device and recommend repairs or replacement. They found that I had a failing hard drive, called with a price range for replacements and had it fixed and running perfectly the next day. All for a price less than half the price of the used one I was considering. It works like new and they saved all my data as well. I HIGHLY recommend them! read more

This is an update on my experience with Santa Cruz tech scamming me out of $65 dollars for a $35 dollar job that was fixed in an electronics repair shop in Watsonville for half the cost, not only are the Santa Cruz tech crooked but apparently also dishonest since the man who fixed my controller said they made it worse by gluing it together and not even checking to see if it was on properly or bothering to let me know they did not fix it and simply saw me as an easy score, go to Watsonville for your repairs and avoid these crooks read more

The folks at the Santa Cruz Tech Exchange saved me when my computer refused to let me into any of my documents on a day when I had a big project due. I went in there desperate and they rushed it to the front of the line for a very reasonable fee. By the time I got home, they had fixed it! I asked them what I owed them (because what I'd paid was just the extra charge for a rush) and they told me there was no additional charge. Really I would have paid them pretty much anything! Not only are they extremely capable and very kind, but their prices are more than fair. I've been to other computer repair places where I feel like I've entered a black hole where no one cares and no one knows what they're doing, so this was a great relief to discover the Santa Cruz Tech Exchange. I took my MSI/Nvidia1070 Ti 8GB Duke Edition graphics card in to sell it Thursday 12/30/21. They told me to leave it so they could test it later. That night I got an offer as it's in like-new condition. I was made an offer via E-mail and once I got there they did not have the cash on hand so they asked if I would take a Venmo payment and I agreed to it but they had to get a hold of the owner to get it done. He then had them lowball me by $50 on a deal already made and wanted to give me store credit rather than what was agreed to previously. I had to go back the following day, then wait for hours to get lowballed by the owner. So my time (2 days it could have been on craigslist), gas, and goodwill were wasted by this unscrupulous owner. I want to make it clear I have no issues with his workers as they were courteous and professional but the owner's used car salesman tactics were shady as hell. I will now never do business with such a shifty owner that does not honor their offers. I included pictures of the card I was trying to sell for refferance. read more

Wow! Our family is thrilled to have Santa Cruz Tech Exchange on the West Side of town. We happened upon the store after dinner at one of our favorite sushi spots. We are delighted to have a tech store in our neighborhood. Filip and his team are knowledgeable, friendly and provided the best customer experience for us. We definitely plan to go back to the store for further assistance with all of our tech and musical needs. It was FANTASTIC to be able to purchase MAC, APPLE and PC products without having to drive across town and figure out exactly what type of cable or product was needed for our machines. I had an intermittent "lock up" problem with my PC. I replaced the memory cards, but it would still lock up intermittently. I took it to Santa Cruz Tech Exchange to diagnose the issue, and in fairly short order they determined that I had not fully seated one of the memory cards. I was fairly sure that I had taken care to do this, but apparently not careful enough! A simple, quick fix and my PC was up and running again. Moreover, SC Tech Exchange charged me less than they had initially quoted for the diagnosis. I couldn't be happier with their service. read more

My Windows 7 laptop was end of life. Brought it to SCTE and Filip took a lot of time to explain the options I had. I knew what I wanted and what a fair price would be. I left with a nice refurbished Windows 10 laptop that was in my budget and would meet my needs. He was friendly, honest, and not pushy about the sale at all. Got a great deal, and he moved over my documents etc to the new laptop for me and wiped the old laptop disc clean also. Great service. Good selection of Macs and Windows machines as well as a lot of audio gear. The warranty is reassuring, but the bottom line is Filip seems an honest guy interested in long term outlook for the customer. Highly recommend. read more
