This was easily the worst service I've ever experienced at a brewery. From the moment we walked in, the staff was dismissive, unprofessional, and clearly uninterested in doing their job. One employee in particular was rude, condescending, and went out of her way to make the experience uncomfortable instead of welcoming. It wasn't just slow service--it was the attitude. We felt like an inconvenience the entire time. For a place that's supposed to be about good vibes and hospitality, this was the complete opposite. This spot was recommended to us from the bartender at Nuckolls because she bartends at Brake Room too. Unfortunately the night we went, she wasn't bartending. She told us a little about the history of the building. It's a cool speakeasy vibe. But similar to other places that I guess didn't realize it was spring break, there was 1 bartender working. Glasses and trash were everywhere. Dirty tables. And when we went to tab out, the bartender called my husband "my eager friend" sarcastically like we were rushing him. But we weren't in a hurry. I was invited here for a little get together with friends. It was my first time at this location. Pretty cool little spot that looks like an old house. There were many more different beers on tap than I expected, all from Santa Fe Brewing Company. Was a little surprised that they didn't have guest taps, so the variety was great. The staff were really nice and they didn't mind that our large group pretty much took over the little yard area in front (3 tables). I could see this being a spot that I come back to somewhat regularly. The food truck out back wasn't open this night, but I've heard good things about it. read more

Let's begin with the obvious: quality, well crafted, delicious beer. Service: this place was packed. Yet, the bartender still had the patience to answer any question we had. Ambiance: we had settled into Santa Fe after a few days in Pagosa Springs. Honestly, our experience hadn't been the best. Changed hotels three times, a few other things were making us feel we had made a bad choice coming to SF. Then we walked into SFB, and my daughter said, "ah, we found our people!" The vibe. Time for a break and a beer. As with a few of my blogs, the place I pop into and decide to review are based solely on just walking around downtown Santa Fe and seeing the sights and shops and sculptures. Cassey and I hit a point where we were settled on food and coffee for the day but wanted to top our tanks off with beer. I pulled up Google and Yelp to see what the nearest place was to grab some drinks and Santa Fe Brewing was a short walk away. We approached from the wrong side of the building and tried going through a door that was ajar but quickly realized that was not the right entrance (or maybe it is, we didn't venture beyond the door) and made our way to the other side. Ahhh, it was finally time for some beers as we entered and were greeted by a friendly bartender. Having fallen in love with their Social Hour beer at Cowgirl BBQ, I was surprised to see they had four version of the beer; Social Hour, Social'er Hour, Slightly Social, and Social Experiment. I quickly got a flight of those plus a sample of Santa Fhazy. Cassey got a Santa Fhazy as well and we took our drinks outside and enjoyed the sunshine and relaxing while we drank our beers. The bartender did her best to label each of the beers but I don't remember which beer was which since the nuances of flavoring gets lost on me. I'm one of those people who will drink something and think its tasty or not without trying to pinpoint all the flavors or notes. Anywho, I do remember liking the other varieties to some degree but nothing hit quite as well as the basic Social Hour. We went back in for another beer and sat outside in the shade so we wouldn't risk getting a bit burned like we did at The Golden Mill. Sitting outside while drinking some good beer with a good friend was a great way to relax for the afternoon. There was a food truck out there but it wasn't open for some reason, despite the hours on the side indicating they should be slinging orders. With this being one of their auxiliary locations, I wonder if they have even more on tap at their other locations. That is a question I will answer if I ever get to go back to Santa Fe... which I fell in love with the area during my week there... so the possibility of going back is pretty good. P. I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at The Brake Room was bad enough that people should know what to expect. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with clear hostility. No greeting, no basic courtesy--just an immediate sense that we weren't welcome. The staff came off as dismissive and rude right from the start. My brother tried to use his digital ID as a form of age verification but even if digital IDs aren't accepted at this establishment , which are officially recognized in New Mexico, there's no excuse for responding with sarcasm instead of basic professionalism. Instead of handling it professionally, one employee responded with, "I can sell you a picture of beer," which was not only unhelpful but openly disrespectful. There's a way to explain policies without being condescending, and this wasn't it. The attitude didn't improve after that. It felt like we were inconveniencing them just by being there. The entire experience was uncomfortable and unnecessarily hostile. There are plenty of other bars around that actually know how to treat customers with basic respect. My travel buddy (my wife!) and I stopped in for a beer a couple of days ago. Funny that my wife and I commented that it looks like a hipster kind of place, and then I just saw somebody else's review that said the same thing. More importantly, the beer. Happy Camper IPA for my girl, and Santa Fhazy IPA for me. Her's was average, mine was totally disappointing. It was *very* pale yellow, and didn't taste like a hazy or hoppy IPA. Most of their more popular brews were gone when we visited, including the 7K IPA and Social Hour...we ended up visiting their other open location at The Bridge to get a taste of those. What an amazing afternoon at Santa Fe Brewing - The Brakeroom! I was the first one to arrive and Travis welcomed me in. His service was excellent and beer recommendations were top notch. The beers were awesome. Before returning to Denver, I stopped and purchased nearly 3 cases of beer to share with my family and friends back home.
