Nobody wants to get their car worked on, but if you have to, this is the place. I was there for 90 minutes yesterday to get new tires/alignment and Greg and David took amazing care of me. Coffee, wi-fi, nice music and big tall ceilings made waiting a pleasure - and I don't say that lightly. Greg was amazing! I was visiting town and had car troubles and he responded quickly to emails/requests. I went to YELP for a recommendation. Worked me in since it was an emergency. Greg knew his trade and was honest and straight forward. Even told me I could wait a little longer on my brakes if I wanted to even though it would mean he wouldn't get paid. It's things like this that made me trust him. I had him complete the job anyway and he did an amazing job. His shop was clean and organized. My only regret is that Greg doesn't have a shop close to me so I can make him my mechanic to use for all my vehicles! I think it just might be worth the 4 hour trip just to use him again. I had a great experience getting a safety inspection, which included some needed repairs I figured I probably needed. Enjoyed the wait time, with refreshments offered, as well as a very comfortable waiting area. There's also a bakery close enough to walk to if need be. They were extremely helpful and detailed with the repairs. I plan on returning whenever I'm in need. read more

All the folks at Santa Fe Garage are always friendly and helpful. They will let me know when a possible problem is starting to show up but they are just as quick to point out to me that something really isn't a problem and that I need not waste my money. This garage has some VERY friendly staff. Having said that, I am left confused. I have a 1993 Nissan 300zx with stalling issues while in gear and idling. A month after I purchased this car, there was a strange grinding noise that came and went with no apparent reason. I took it to Santa Fe garage to have it checked out. While on the phone attempting to find a time to have them look at the car, I was told (very kindly, mind you!) that they were super busy. The entire process of scheduling the visit seemed to be an extreme burden for them. I'm not sure if I had ever indicated that the work was to be done out of charity, but the awkwardness of the scheduling made it seem so. Well after the visit, a problem was found that there was a bad knock sensor (this wasn't ever related to the "noise issue" or stalling issue) and paid them over $250 for the service. Again, SUPER nice people! The stalling issue has persisted for several months and I decided to take up the quest to have it fixed yet again. I called Santa Fe Garage because I've heard wonderful things about them from the Heart of America Z Club that I am a part of. Today, I spoke with a (very nice) gentleman who said again that they were very busy and didn't know when they could get to it...probably in two weeks or more. We talked for a bit as to what the issue might be and things that I could check myself. His reasoning for wanting me to check it out first was again, that they were busy, that it would take several hours to check out, and that he didn't want to schedule something that far out in case other emergency jobs came out (mentioning modding jobs and tune-ups that he had to perform). In my mind some time later that day I got to thinking "wait, what if I were one of those emergencies? Would I be treated as a priority or an inconvenience?" All in all, that's what I've felt like, an inconvenience. I can appreciate a shop saying they just don't have the time to service a vehicle because they're swamped. That usually means they're a good shop! But the entirety of my experience had felt like an inconvenience. Even talking with a gentleman at the shop while picking up my car, he mentioned that he didn't check the timing belt (which I had asked him to do - wasn't expecting free service, mind you!) and he went over to my car and pointed out how hard it would be to check the timing belt among the difficulty it would be to change the head gaskets (which I mentioned the nissan dealer said needed to be done). All in all, it seems this shop is a great place; clean, friendly staff. But I cannot get it out of my head that I was just being bypassed, and for no "apparent" reason. I'm left confused. I just want someone to tell me what's wrong with my car! I don't really care how hard it's going to be to find the issue and fix it! I've got money set aside for this! Had an urgent repair come up this week and didn't have time to take my car to my usual mechanic, so I took it to this shop near the courthouse in Independence. Power steering went out of my car and there's always a concern that mechanics you don't know are going to tell you that your car needs a pump or something more expensive, when the fix is actually simpler than that. These guys were honest, fixed the hoses that needed fixing, and didn't try to get something more. Very reasonable and I felt totally comfortable taking my car there. Would do it again. I'd recommend this shop to anyone. read more

This garage is the best in town! I'm not originally from this area and it took several years to find a trustworthy, reasonable and quality auto shop. I refer everyone I know to Santa Fe. I have brought both of my vehicles to the shop for a multitude of issues and I'm never disappointed with the speed or quality of service. I won't even take the cars any where else for an oil change. I'll never take my car back to the dealership after coming here! Honest, prompt with diagnosing the problem and they don't charge an arm and a leg to fix your car. They even went the extra mile to clean the outside of my car and vacuum a bit on the inside. Great work on my Chevy Cruze. read more

Not impressed. Went in for an appointment for an inspection on the truck and an alignment and the gentleman had a dazed look in his eyes when he asked what kind of car I had and I pointed to my F-350 pickup idling in the street. I understand if they don't know how a diesel works, but not being able to do an inspection / alignment due to it being a truck? What a joke. Go down the street on Truman, the mechanics there don't have the deer in the headlight look when you ask them a question. read more

I have had Greg work on our Hyundai a couple of times and was completely satisfied with the work and service provided. Two things that I especially find convenient are that they have Saturday hours and allow me to bring in the parts and simply have him install. Very clean shop as well! read more
