One of my guest ordered the steak burrito and had an allergic reaction later that night, one of my guests asked for a strawberry daiquiri and what was served was an icy watery mess with strawberries, and finally my chicken and shrimp dinner was mostly beans with a small piece of chicken and 3 shrimp. I haven't been to Santa Fe in a number of years, because the last time I was here, the service was so bad I got up and left (yes, I paid for my drink). The food was never a problem, and it still isn't. Tableside guac (mango pepper) , and chicken chimi, and a couple golden margaritas. Yum. All thoughtful and well prepared. The ambiance is pretty cool but it has that industrial/unfinished look that a lot of fast-casual places have been attempting. I ate here with my partner and a family member recently for dinner. The meal was marred with high highs and low lows so I think 3 stars is the most appropriate rating. We were undecided regarding whether to sit indoors or outside on their patio and the hostess took the initiative to choose the patio for us. I'm glad she did, it's quite lovely out there, especially on an evening with a more comfortable temperature. I did notice a higher-than-normal frequency of very loud vehicles disrupting the peace as they sped by. Fellas, all this means to us ladies is that you're trying to compensate for something and we all know what that is. Anyway, they have a margarita menu, as you would expect. The service was so good that our server came over so quickly that I hadn't had a chance to look over the drink menu yet. I made a game time decision on the skinny marg (this is me trying to compensate for the week's worth of calories I was about to consume). Everyone else at the table ordered a variation of the marg on their menu. My marg was great, you would never know it was "skinny". Unfortunately, GF's marg (she just ordered the house marg in a a frenzy because she had also not been able to look at the menu) literally looked like tinted water. I tasted it, it tasted like water with a splash of sour mix. There was something very wrong. At least one ingredient was missed. This was not a margarita. I have to say, in all my years of eating out, I have never had this happen before! She wouldn't allow me to say anything due to fear of the inevitable spit in the dish. I was THRILLED to see a vegetarian empanada dish on the menu. This was another first as I have never had the pleasure of ordering empanadas because they ALWAYS have some sort of meat in them. I OBVIOUSLY ordered them but the server gave me a little tease by saying she thought they were out and would check. As luck would have it, they were NOT out and I was able to enjoy these crispy, delicious, and frankly out of this world empanadas. The filling was so flavorful and they were served with a creamy sauce. Oh my gosh, I almost forgot. They give you chips and salsa at the beginning which are absolutely excellent. The chips are incredible, definitely homemade. The salsa was super tasty too with a little heat. The highs of the vegetarian empanadas came crashing down when I realized the rest of the menu struggled in the way of veggie options. There were a few on the first page but none on the last page, which included salads. Of all things to have a veggie option, you wouldn't choose salads??? What on earth? I had to go with the black bean chimichanga. Even though this was not my first choice, I was looking forward to it. It was beautiful when it came out although, it wasn't served with any sides whatsoever. I cut that bad boy open and noticed it was about 90% rice. Oh well. Whenever I ask GF how her dish was it is essentially a multiple choice question because the answer is always either "it was ok" or "it was good" and in this case, her snapper was "it was ok". The staff NEEDS DRASTIC IMPROVEMENTS!! The bartender Sean is rude careless and unprofessional. He constantly touches his face and mouth whilst serving food. He doesn't wash his hands either .He's consistently ignored me when I come in. I've reported him to the management several times and it doesn't seem to help? Seriously the best Mexican restaurant in Delaware and the surrounding area! We love Santa Fe and it is our go to at least once a week. My kids are obsessed with the bento box which includes the best French fries (battered and deep fried in glory) and I love the burritos and salmon tortilla salad which is served in a unique crispy tortilla made almost entirely if not all of cheese. We just discovered their brunch menu and the birria Benedict is AMAZING and my new favorite meal there. My daughter also had the two egg scramble with sausage that had a nice grill flavor to it. The chips and salsa are also fabulous especially when they come out hot and fresh. I could go on and on about this place including the great servers and hostesses. We had Kalani as our hostess during their Santa brunch and Mike was a phenomenal server. We highly recommend Santa Fe and will continue recommending all our friends here since it's our favorite spot! read more

We have tried this place about five times for takeout but we are almost certainly not planning for more takeout for at least a couple of years after our last meal here. Our tacos and enchiladas were both pretty underwhelming and nothing compared favorably with El Camino or Del Pez. The one time we tried to come in to eat at the restaurant last summer, we came with a reservation and left without eating. We were offered a table at 5:30 pm with the sun absolutely burning down right at the edge of the the bar area. On our way back from Cape May to Lancaster, PA we wanted some 'good Mexican' for a late lunch and Yelp suggested this place. We were not at all disappointed! It's beautiful inside. The wait staff was kindly and attentive but most importantly-- the food was awesome!! We started with the fresh made guacamole which was nice and flavorful with plenty of garlic. The salsa and chips were very fresh tasting. Nice crispy chips with nice salt. We had the steak fajitas with flour tortillas and the carnitas dish with corn tortillas. All of it was excellent. Fresh grilled peppers and onions. Nicely grilled whole hot peppers (jalapeño with the carnitas and banana with the fajitas) and some great grill blistered assorted cherry tomatoes. The green ones were awesome! The rice and retried beans were also very tasty. Another great takeout meal from Santa Fe! We placed a pretty large order and it was completely correct (and delicious). The Baja fish tacos are definitely spicy, I wouldn't recommend if you can't handle heat. My fiancé ordered them in the tortilla (I opted for lettuce) and we both agreed they were delicious. The azteca sauce that comes with the chicken quesadillas is delicious. It also comes with the Santa Fe Chipotle wings (we got a few orders of those, they smell amazing and taste just as good). Parking was better this time around (although today is a Sunday and last time we picked up it was a Saturday evening). Hopefully next time I'll be able to dine in, but glad to see this is a consistent takeout option! read more

When the bill came, he charged for chocolate instead of fried ice cream. I didn't realize there was a price difference. Went back to hotel and checked and sure enough we were over charged. Then checked on different delivery apps and the chocolate dessert showed up as available. I did give a good tip, since the server was young. but we won't go there and wouldn't recommend. We were recommended to check out this place - and wow! glad we did because we will be sure return. My husband and I LOVED our dishes. We ordered the Fe Burrito and the Chicken Chimi. The queso flameado on the chimichanga was sooo delicious!!! One thing I wasn't a fan of, was that I had to cut my Chimi on my side plate because every time I cut my food on the actual plate it was served on, it picked up all the burnt-on bits (can see in the picture how charred the dish is). I've lived in the area for so long and am somehow just now discovering this place! Santa Fe is operated under the same owners as Del Pez, which in my opinion is the best Mexican restaurant in Wilmington, maybe even in Delaware. The private room area is the best looking of them all, I wish I got to sit in it Are server was also the bar tender so unfortunately he was a bit busy, but he was such a funny guy and made great suggestions for what we should order First they brought out complimentary chips and salsa, salsa was really good, I enjoyed the spice it had. We started out by ordering the Tlayudas Oaxaquenas, especially nachos except it's is one huge chips with a bunch of toppings. Our waiter suggested we get them with chorizo (Which is free to add!!) we took his advice and wow was it good. I honestly think the chorizo made it, that and the pickled cabbage. Definitely recommend! For my entree I got the Santa Fe burger. I think the fries it came with were okay, nothing special, but the burger was great! It has chipotle Mayo, guacamole, jalapeños, and a fried egg on top and all of those came together amazingly! My only issue is the meat was slightly overdone, but that's on me because I ordered medium well when I typically order medium. My brother got the El Pastor Tacos and loved those too, the presentation of them is great (pictured) I think I'd like to try those next time Overall it was great! They lack flavor, the tortillas were chewy, & the food didn't stay hot I prefer them deliver them on a but I g hot skillet to help the flavors merge. That is why we like Mexican right.
