After unhappily leaving a nearby restaurant that we had reservations for, we took the short drive to Testa Rossa to give it a try. We didn't have reservations but were still able to sit outside on their enclosed patio with a tinkling fountain. We were delighted to find on a Wednesday that they were still having happy hour specials all day and even had a 3-course price fixed. My daughter and I loved the Gondola Ride with citrus vodka and limoncello. It was a refreshing, summertime drink. For the 3-course price fixed, we tried the lasagna noodle soup which was unique and delicious. My corn cappellacci (not on the price-fixed menu) was a new entree. The pasta was light and airy, and the corn and shrimp made it a tasty dish perfect for a summer night. For dessert, the gelato twist with banana was heavenly. We ended up at Testa Rossa on a Saturday afternoon after dropping off one of the girls for a birthday party at SkyZone. Dinner was only a few hours off, but a bit too soon for a full lunch. However, the menu got the best of us and we ended up ordering a bunch of little things which ended up being far too much, but definitely in a good way. The space is quirky with a wonderful neo-mod design that is very eye catching and makes great use of the old diner aesthetic of the previous space, while improving upon it a hundredfold by making it much classier but not over the top. It does feel decidedly like a 1960's Italian locale out of a Roger Moore or Sean Connery era Bond film; to great effect. Another thing I loved about the design is that it feels compact but not small. I dislike huge restaurants, and love the family owned vibe, and this space occupies the very nice Goldilocks zone between being 'just right'. The food was good and I will get to that, but what really made our experience was our outstanding, amazing, dare I say...... legendary server, Alice. She was just flat out hands down an all around pro with a great attitude, a kind smile, and a wonderful personality who knew exactly how to keep a table like ours happy, engaged, and ready to come back again. This is something that I feel has been missing in so many places since Covid occurred, and encountering someone as great as Alice just really made the whole time there a notch above. Finally getting to the food, which was obviously delicious, there was nothing that was absolutely mind blowing, but all of it was very unique and extremely well prepared and flavorful. I did like that not everything was tomato-centric on the menu and there was a vast variety of different dishes that match the uniqueness of the space. The highlight for me was the carrot soup, not an every day item, that was nice and heavy with cumin. Brilliant flavors but not too forward, which followed our caprese dip that was an outstanding take on a dish that everyone loves, but is overdone at this point. The bread they are serving here is insanely good; either lightly toasted or grilled quickly on a flat grill, I am not sure, but slathered with high quality olive oil and it's perfectly soft, crispy, crusty, and chewy all at the same time. Testa Rossa is definitely worth checking out, and we only went for a few small plates with the intention of it being a snack. Apparently the family has more than one location, although I am not sure where the others are. If you are near Glen Mills, it is definitely worth the trip to stop in here and give them a try. Not a good visit. So much disappointment. We had to pass up two other restaurants because they were closed. I ordered the carpaccio. Per the menu it came with eggplant, pickled mushrooms and horseradish. I think the eggplant was the tiny smears. And the mushrooms were tiny too. Horseradish was grated over the dish. Not myself favorite rendition. Peppers were not listed or needed. Partner got the lasagna soup and half pizza steak. Soup was good. Sandwich a disaster. Requested no peppers. They were there. Steak was gristly chunks not shaved. Pizza dough roll was a sloppy mess. Dessert sounded good, but took forever. I guess they bake to order. Waitress could have mentioned that. It came out burnt. We had a birthday coupon and we wanted to try this place. The decor is quirky! Colorful and both inside and outside. We had a newer server but he was doing great. We started with a burrata dip and toasted bread. You could just have this! It was sooooo good! The pizza came out really charred. I know they use a coal fire but this was inedible. Stopped by for dinner and had a pretty good experience overall. The focaccia was super soft with a nice salty sprinkle on top, simple but really tasty and definitely a highlight. I got the gnocchi Alfredo, which was just okay. Nothing bad, just not super exciting. The "small" portion was actually a decent size, just enough to fill me up without feeling stuffed. This Testa Rossa location is new and is definitely a unique vibe. The overall decor inside and out is retro yet modern. The staff was very attentive and checked in on us often. They even did table side tiramisu! I went with a group of 10 and there were no problems or mix ups. The appetizers were all really delicious, the pasta entrees were well prepared, and the entrees including meat were well cooked and seasoned. There were several great cocktails but don't expect a stateside or anything like that, you will not find it. The waiter was very informative and mentioned that all wine served are from Italy. Absolutely perfect from start to finish. I was so antsy to write this review so others could hurry and try it out. I appreciate that we were seated at our reservation time. Sometimes restaurants will have you wait past your reservation time while they clean a table off, but Testa Rossa was ready for us. It meant a lot. The host also kindly acknowledged that we needed a vegetarian menu. Testa's interior will take your breath away. I believe it was formerly a diner but the way it is decorated makes you feel like you're in a 1970's style oasis. Completely stunning! Our appetizer was the Caprese Dip. 100% suggest getting this. It will have your mouth watering and tastes like pizza in the form of a dip. The bread was crispy and fresh. I chose a brunch entree - Eggs in Purgatory. It reminded me a lot of Shakshouka. The eggs were smothered in a very tasty sauce served with a side of bread. It's the absolute comfort meal. I can't forget our server, Ryan, who was flawless the entire time. Our drinks were refilled promptly and he cleared off the table quickly after we finished our appetizer. Finally, the cannolis for dessert. The cheesecake filling did not miss and the strawberries added a nice touch. It's the perfect shareable portion and won't have you feeling like you need to unbutton your pants afterwards. I Just found out I have celiac disease and this place lured us in with a gluten-free menu. I ordered a gluten-free pasta with mushrooms and cream sauce and what I got was pasta chopped up in tiny pieces as if for a five year-old and covered in oil. There was no cream sauce. There was no cream at all. Just oil that won't leave my mouth for three days. I feel like my gums are covered in oil. My husband got chicken Parmesan and only ate a third of it complaining that it was nasty. It was burnt and he said it seemed like it had been cooked and then reheated and cooked again and again. He said it tasted like it was put out for lunch and then reheated and served for dinner. Do yourself a favor and stay far far far away from this dump. They won't make it another year. They'll go out of business serving this trash which is where these two entrées ended up tonight - in the trash uneaten. And who chops up pasta into tiny little pieces like they're preparing it for a toddler? Not to mention they didn't include any bread with our $26 entrees. What kind of Italian restaurant doesn't serve bread? That's like Italian 101. read more

We waited a little while after Testa Rossa first opened and I'm so glad we did - it really feels like they've hit their stride. The atmosphere on the fountain patio was absolutely perfect for date night at the end of summer.. one of the nicest patios anywhere. The Garlic Parm wings were some of the best I've ever had - the sauce was creamy and full of flavor. For entree, I got the Chicken Parm sandwich, which was phenomenal. I asked for the robolina on the side, and it ended up being a great move - dipping the sandwich added a unique flavor The side salad it came with was fresh and tasty, though having truffle fries as an option in the future would be a total game changer. I came to Testa Rosa a few weeks after opening and I am so impressed. The service was amazing our server was so friendly and had some great recommendations for us. The food was delicious we started with the cheese and meats ( I am vegetarian but my dad wanted meat and we asked for that on a separate dish which the kindly did no problem), I got the mushroom pizza which was so good and then cannoli for dessert which was one of the best desserts I have had in a long time. Earlier in the night we mentioned we were celebrating our birthdays and our server brought the dessert out with two candles for us which was so sweet. Such a fun atmosphere and great food! My husband and I sat at the bar and had a few delicious cocktails. I enjoyed the Puglia Fizz and the Stach Hopper. After seeing both signs, the construction, and a load of rave reviews, my wife and I decided to check out the new Testa Rosa in Glen Mills on an early Friday evening. The location, formerly Ruby's Diner, has ample parking and is gorgeous and spacious inside, with a covered outdoor patio for dining as well. We were seated promptly by the friendly hosts, and our service was excellent throughout the meal. The drink list is original, and even featured a few unique craft beer options I haven't seen too many other places. We started with the polenta & meatballs appetizer and the rosemary focaccia, both of which were lovely. I took the recommendation and had the angry crab linguine - wasn't overly spicy, and had enough seafood without being extra or overwhelming. I had an overwhelmingly positive experience at Testa Rossa. The restaurant is so beautifully designed / decorated. Not a detail was missed. My girlfriend and I started with cocktails at the bar. My lavender espresso martini was absolutely delicious. It was expertly mixed and beautifully presented. While the lavender garnish was appreciated, there was way too much lavender on top which prohibited me from finishing my drink, just some constructive feedback. Food was delicious. We were treated to a caprese dip with fresh bread. The dip was so good. The highlight for me was the burrata stuffed fried meatball. It was so well balanced flavor wise- sweet, savory, very creamy and delicious. I could have just eaten that and been happy. For dinner, I ordered the mafaldine pasta. The restaurant is small but "cute" as my wife would say. It has a nice cozy bar area and the service is cordial, attentive yet not overbearing. The place is relatively new and clean after the total redesign from the Ruby's Diner days. The pizza is simply fantastic! This, accompanied by their chopped antipasto salad, is one of our favorite delights. They put out a delicious thin crust NY style pizza using high quality flour pizza with fresh ingredients. The sauce is a tad spicy as well and it works! We have vowed to try other Italian delicacies on the menu but seem hopelessly hooked on the pizza and salad! They used to offer an incredible cheesy bread app but it has sadly disappeared from the menu - perhaps too much competition with their delicious pizza? The creamy garlic Parmesan chicken wings are simply wonderful! Perfectly fried - they are juicy yet with a with a savory crispy crust Though they look absolutely delicious from what I've seen, my wife hasn't allowed us to try the desserts yet so I'll wait it out. This is the third time I am leaving a review of this restaurant. Somehow they keep getting my review deleted. I have literally never experienced this on Yelp - ever. The food is moderately good. The drinks are weak. The ambience is silly - it looks just like Ruby's with a bunch of nonsense strewn about. Should've called it Testa Ruby's. Waitress was great. Manager was weird and rude - proactively telling us after we were there for ten minutes that there was a time limit on the table. Not in a friendly sort of way but in an angry like we were inconveniencing him by being there sort of way. There are MUCH better options for Italian in the area like Il Granaio and Antica. read more

This place has such a unique vibe--everything is vibrant, even the bathroom! Easily one of the most creative and fun decors I've seen in a restaurant. We tried a several dishes, and every single one was packed with flavor. The caprese dip was the standout appetizer, and the vodka pasta was the best main dish. We walked in on a Saturday night needing a table for 5, we were sat within 15 minutes and enjoyed drinks at the bar. The restaurant has a nice vibe to it with interesting patterns and light fixtures, comfortable seating. I enjoyed the mocktails listed on the menu, the ceasar salad was delicious and good portion for the price, I enjoyed the small plate portion of the goat cheese tortellini which were fantastic and just the right amount of food for me. I love that they have the option for the small portion pastas! For dessert we all split the donuts which were fresh, warm and fluffy with sweet dipping sauces on the side. We really enjoyed ourselves and our bill overall was not bad! Plus it was a friends bday and our waitress treated her to a free glass of champagne and placed a candle in our dessert which we appreciated and made her feel special! Mother's Day reservations for 6 people. Restaurant called ME 3 different times to confirm reservation including 1 hour before reservation. We showed up at 5:10pm for a 5:15pm reservation. Waited 15 minutes to be seated but They had no table for us. They had overbook reservations. Instead they Offered to seat us at a table made for 4 people (not 6!). We chose to sit at bar instead. We ordered 4 appetizers to start. they offered us a free additional appetizer of their choice (not ours) for the inconvenience. We went to Testa Rossa on 3/6 for dinner with a party of five, and everyone loved their meals. My daughter's boyfriend joined us for the first time and really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Everything we ordered was amazing--from the salad and appetizers to the main dishes and desserts. We have been to this restaurant quite a few times, and it is always consistently excellent. This time I tried the pizza and absolutely loved it. Our server, Jordan, was super sweet, very friendly, and attentive to our table. I am a big fan of Testa Rossa because the food is amazing! My husband and I have eaten here several times. Some of our favorites include the chopped antipasto salad and the Margharita pizza. Last night I went with my mom and sister and they did not disappoint! ! had the gazpacho which was very flavorful. We shared the Caprese dip which was excellent. We also had the yummy focaccia bread sticks with dipping oil. I had the Angry Crab linguini which is new and it was so good that I wish I had gotten the larger portion!
