This place price gouges. Went in for issues with a crown I received here. Was told I needed a root canal and it would $1800 dollars. Called another dentist my family has used and was told it could be done for $800. Previously had maxed out my dental insurance getting my crown here as well. Told them I was on a budget and I have to take anxiety meds before getting work done, they made me sign paperwork before I took the meds because I'm not allowed to sign after, but they decided to do a porcelain crown on me anyways and charge thousands instead of a couple hundred. My mother even brought it up at her next appointment and they apologized for screwing me over and gave her a free porcelain crown. Highway robbery, so not recommend. read more

Don't go to signature dental if you can help it. Theyre deceptive, rude and offer poor customer service time and time again. I really want to like it because it's so centrally located and the hygienist seems knowledgeable but overall they're challenging to work with and a bit snotty. When I ask questions about the price breakdown that get defensive and argumentative. Examples: Example #1: My daughters was charged $60.00 out of pocket and my insurance another $30 to fix a serious cavity that needed immediate attention. It was my bad that I didn't review any of the xrays myself. However she was in and out in under 15 minutes so I'm guessing it wasn't really an urgent cavity that needed fixing. Example #2: They wanted to charge me 110.00 to clean my teeth but when I asked more about the pricing, I discovered it was only 1 tooth they were cleaning. When I asked how much it would be to clean all my teeth they said they couldn't do it the same day. After a brief argument, they agreed.They would do it for an additional $100.So basically they would have done it the whole time, but they put up a fight about it. In addition, they were still charging my insurance company on top of what they were charging me. I have a good friend that's a dentist and another that's a dental hygenist that were telling me "somethings doesn't sound okay with the office just go somewhere else they're a dime a dozen." I guess it was my own fault but I'm hoping this saves you from the same mistake. read more

I have been going to Signature Dental on Cuyamaca St. in Santee, CA for over three years, and Vinh Ngoc Tran is only one of two dentists I have been to in my 65 years that is top-notch. I have found him to be honest, caring, skilled, and he does not try to sell you a multitude of services that you do not need (unlike several other dentists and dental groups I have been to before). Sometimes I have a bit of difficulty with his accent ... and that led to a misunderstanding on my part four months ago. As a result I saw a dentist in La Jolla highly recommended my long-term friends---that dentist charged about 3 times more for a replacement filling and tried to sell me several other services I did not need. Then I tried a dentist in Poway; while he charged less than the La Jolla dentist, it was still 2 times more per procedure. When I consulted again with Vinh Ngoc Tran, we clarified the misunderstanding I had four months earlier. As a result, instead of paying well over $1,000 for a replacement filling and procedures in La Jolla which I did not need, and instead of paying ~ $400.00 for the the replacement filling and one unnecessary procedure in Poway, I paid less than $200 for the replacement filling (as I do not have insurance). Again, there are only two dentists I have been to in my life that I trust and feel I can count on to put the patient first plus have the wisdom (on top of required education and training)---and Vinh Ngoc Tran is one of those two. read more

My first visits, I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the warmth of Dr. Tran. After an unfortunate incident with his co-dentist Dr. Wen (I was promised a teeth whitening kit and was told by the assistant that Dr. Wen was wrong about the custom made kit, and I was given a cheap, plastic one-use plate) I went back since Dr. Tran did give me my custom made kit when I told him about it. Now, I have been dealing with escalating pain, given appointments with days between, only x-rays taken, he did this three times. I asked clarifying questions, and I don't think he liked this. In the end, he knew my pain was escalating and he also knew it was likely I'd need a root canal, yet I was scheduled for it 6 days later. Ultimately, looking for a new dentist. read more

I don't trust this dentist practice. I was with another dental office for a long time before I moved to this area. I've had deep cleanings where I was put to sleep because of the depth of the procedure so I know what a deep cleaning involves. I scheduled a standard cleaning here but find out after I show up for my appointment that they've opted for a deep cleaning and that I have a pay out-of-pocket cost of over $100. I accepted because I figured why not, I don't have anything going on the rest of the day and it has been a long time since my last "deep" cleaning. But all they did was a regular cleaning. Nothing was different from the regular cleaning process. I feel like they are trying to maximize what they can charge my insurance and what they can get me to pay out-of-pocket. They should tell you BEFORE you show up for your appointment that it isn't a standard cleaning. I'm 40 years old, and never had this type of experience in any other dental practice I've been a patient at. read more

Where do I start? AVOID this place! They are Signature Dental, part of the "in-network" for Delta Dental. First, I was relentlessly pursued by them for an appointment. Felt more like a telemarketer calling me than anything else, but I gave em a try after the phone calls continued. So how was my experience? My first complaint, the Dental Assistant: Ahhhh, nothing more comforting than having a dental assistant work on my pearly whites who obviously has no training and does not speak english. Her inability to communicate came into play when I said "Ouch" and she laughed and said {in broken Vietnamese} "Thank you". Her response to everything I said..."Thank you." Very frustrating. Oh and personally, deepthroating a suction device like I'm a freakin pornstar doing fellatio movies is not enjoyable. And for God's sake, don't try and stretch my mouth, just doesn't work that way. The Dentist: He seems nice but also doesn't understand English. I mean sure, I don't intend on chatting it up with the Dentist but it would be nice if I could at least understand him. The Billing Assistant: Ah Monica. Monica Monica Monica. Nice try on over billing me. You tried to double my copay and overbill me. When I called you on it a few days later, you apologized saying it was Delta Dental's fault. Funny, Delta Dental told me they have nothing to do with your billing, they simply wait for you to send them a receipt and then they send me an EOB (Explanation of Benefits). Were you lying then Monica or are you lying now? Own up to it Monica. The Good Doctor has you overbilling us to SCAM the client and the insurance company. This is an old practice...it's nothing new! You double my copay hoping to collect cash up front and hoping that I won't pay attention to the forms I get from Delta Dental. Nice try Doc. Nice Try Monica. guess you don't get your raise. I suggest that next time you try and rip someone off, don't do it to someone who yelps. I am going to do everything to prevent people from going to you guys. Good luck in the future! Oh...and flattery and flirtation will not get me to hand over my cash. BOTTOM LINE: Move on to a new Dentist. Unless you like pain and want to spend money to fund Monica's personal expenses. read more

Let me start of by saying that going to the dentist is not one of my favorite choices in life to do, I know its so bad, but going to the dentist scares me. But when I was looking around for a new dentist I knew I had chosen the best one. I called and a young lady named Nijah answered the phone with so much joyed and happiness, I knew right away the whole office is going to make me feel really comfortable. To make my review short I made it to my appointment that was giving to me right away. The dental assistant by the name of Alex was so sweet and nice. When i got to meet Dr. Tran, he explained everything step by step made me feel comfortable and I got the treatment i needed. And he was really gentle. First off let me apologize for the delay in sending in my review. Drs Tran and Nguyen are two of the best Dentists I have ever had and believe me I have had quite a few. They are very professional, patient, and kind. Due to a very bad dental experience when I was younger, I have a major phobia against Dentists, so it is especially comforting that Dr Tran always checks to make sure I am okay when treating me. After many years of going to the same Dentist he retired!!!!! Anyone who has had trouble with their teeth, know the fear of going to someone new! After seeing several Dentists I was refereed to Dr. Tran. Thank God!!!!! He and his staff have always worked with me to give me the best treatment for me. Not to mention when I had to have an emergency root canal he got me in first thing in the morning! He doubled booked himself and got me all fixed up. Then I bit into a hard chip,, and darn if i didn't break a front tooth! It was late in the evening and Dr. Tran called me right away and again got me in ASAP. Happy to say he fixed my tooth! As for his staff, they are very sweet and helpful, also professional ! Monica always works with me on my appointments and Nancy is quite and dose a nice job of helping Dr.Tran. I would like to mention Dr. Tran is from Vietnam, he came here, went to school and has learned our language, studied hard and is a great asset to the Dental Profession. I have been seeing Dr. Tran for nearly five years now. I don't have dental insurance so Monica is always flexible when I need to break up my payments. I have build a nice relationship with Dr. Tran, Monica and Nancy. My family and friends also go to Signature Dental. They know how fussy I am! My experience has always been positive. Whenever I did have a problem it was always taken care of. One thing I found very nice was every time I had a problem and Dr. Tran would work on me, he or Monica would always call me to make sure I was doing well. They are all a great group! Simply put, Santee Signature Dental is the best dentist office I've ever visited. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and clearly explain what procedures need to be done and why. They are also very conscientious when working with patients who have chronic pain or are apprehensive about visiting the dentist. I avoided dentists for years before visiting, but I have had nothing but positive experiences here. I've never felt judged for having a long lapse in visiting the dentist or bad dental habits. In fact, they take the time to show you how to properly take care of your teeth so that you don't need major dental work in the future.
