This is our second time there and we really enjoyed the sushi. The first time we went, we thought the costumer service wasn't great, but this second time around it was better. I will add that the lighting is a bit poor, makes it difficult to read the menus. I ordered on from them on Dec 20th from Uber eats, and I got the buy one get one free. They never sent the free items, I should've received three free items. When I called they didn't answer that day. So I order again on December 28th but called soon after I ordered to make sure I would get the free items and they were acting as if they were dumb. She asked are you trying to cancel because the driver already came and picked up food. I checked the order status which She lied about. the driver picking up the order. She had an attitude with me and I didn't eat any food from them after that attitude. Dined in for the very first time ever since the COVID-19 lockdown. There were plenty of empty tables available, but the host decided to sit us at a table where social distance was unavailable. We immediately asked our waitress to see if we can move to an empty table where social distance was possible and she said yes. However, there was only one set of utensils available to us. Great happy hour spot! Definitely awesome that happy hour is everyday from 3pm-6pm. We stopped by here for family dinner one night. For sushi to be $15 for 2 rolls, it is such an amazing deal. Sake and beer is also part of the happy hour. Quality of food was good. I would have to say nothing was special about their rolls. Most of their rolls on the happy hour menu were mostly California rolls with different types of fish on top or spicy tuna with different fish on top. Don't get me wrong, they were good for happy hour and worth it. We ordered the Sakura roll which was my favorite, the super crunch roll was good, 911 roll was good as well and very spicy which gave it a good kick, alaskan roll had salmon on it which you can't go wrong with, and the sushi was unique. Overall for the price I would say it was good. Ambiance was nice, feeling of casual dining and the service was great. The food came out fast, they refilled our water often and checked up on us if we needed anything. Parking lot has lots of spaces and they take credit card. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a happy hour spot. I could not say or recommend if your are looking for a traditional or more upscale sushi place since I did not sit at the sushi bar nor have I tried the non-happy hour menu items. Early Christmas Eve and I was just getting off from work in the early afternoon - i was starving for whatever reason...I googled the closest sushi spots and came up with a couple that were in close proximity. The first one was closed (rightly so, since it was Christmas Eve), so next up was one across the way and over which was Sanyo. Great choice and stop! Service is great and super friendly host Carol and Chef Felix (he gets me). Fish is fresh and a good assortment to choose from that you can't go wrong here. Chef recommended a seared garlic and jalapeño tuna with fried onions - oh yeah, so good! There was also a fusion of fish on the menu which i did try which was called Venice. You have to go in and try it and the others. It's difficult to describe the party in your mouth goodness from the flavors of the fish all in a bite or 2 or 3 or 4 actually. I'm fairly simple just some sushi - salmon, salmon belly, eel...and I'm good. Chef can make some excellent recommendations, so let him know what you're craving. I've not tried the rolls, but I will soon enough. The spicy endgame can catch some heat, so you might want to keep that sake close by. You have to take advantage of the complimentary ice cream - I love green tea ice cream! I've been here twice already in a week and a half span. I may go back tomorrow after writing this review LOL! Because this place is so meh to me, I'll just say, the water tasted like death in liquid form, so get a tea or soda. The rolls were itty bitty, but they had some interesting combination of flavors. We were greeted with three women when our group of 50 people walked in. They had placed 4 rectangular tables against the wall side by side without a space. We requested to have space in-between tables for convenience. Anyone who needs to get up does not have to move the tables and it would just be inconvenient to those who are sitting down. Sanyo is usually my sushi go to spot in the area. They are next to Petrillos (best pizza ever!) and there's plenty of parking. This is my second time ordering takeout since COVID-19. They picked up the phone right away and I ordered the following for 2 people: -Miso soup: wonderful taste. -BSCR: delicious! -Sanyo Roll: maybe my favorite! -Moana Roll: amazing! -Volcano Roll: terrible. We disliked it so much that we threw it away. It's not in their new printed takeout menu, but it was in the Yelp menu and it says California Roll topped with baked salmon and spicy tuna. All which I love, but somehow the mixture tasted awful. -Salmon sashimi: melts in your mouth. -Baked Mussels: did not have the masago topping pictured in the menu, but they were still tasty! Very similar to Oysters Rockefeller which I love. Make sure you when you place your takeout order you mention the Happy Hour "Any 2 rolls for $16 " (Mon-Sun, 3pm-6pm). When she gave me the total cost, it seemed too much. I then asked about the Happy Hour and she said I had to order another roll. Done! And my total was $9 less. I was a little disappointed I had to remind her about the Happy Hour deal instead of her offering it. She told me the order would be ready in 25 minutes and when I arrived 25 minutes later, it was waiting for me. I got home ready to have a delicious dinner, but when I started unpacking the food, the miso soups were missing. Ugh! I had to drive back and pick them up. This sushi place hits the spot. The portions are very big even for their happy hour specials. I ordered 4 rolls but I was only able to eat 2 and I was even sharing with my buddy. Host was very nice and the main sushi chef name is Sean give him a shoutout if youre in the area and come by to eat. They used to be good and priced well, but since Covid and our backing of them through it they have almost doubled in price and don't allow specials to go. I went there 2x a week for takeout to support them during shutdown, now they don't reward your patronage but instead raise prices and don't allow specials to go.
