Bento Box chicken Teriyaki with mixed Tempura.

Came here during the week between the hours of 6 to 7 pm. My son was craving Ramen. Sadly was one of the worst Ramen's we have tried. I had the bento box and the chicken was not good and the spicy tuna roll was just overly spicy and meh. I was not impressed by any of the food. Even the side salad that comes with the bento box was not good, typically I like the tempura and side salad just not here. There was only one other table of customers before us (a family of about 8). The adults were talking pretty loud and I can hear their conversations about other people's relationships from across the room. No other customers came in during the time we were there. Maybe they were having an off day. Maybe they have different cooks during certain times of the week that are better but I don't think I will come back here unless someone brought me and treated me to eat here to give them another chance. We didn't finish the food just paid and tipped and left. I ended up having to go to In and Out to get us burgers for dinner. The only thing I really liked here was the nice friendly and speedy service we received.

I am such a foodie and I like to try different places just to see how they taste. Today while looking through Yelp I found this small cute sushi place and OMG it's good! I Recommend trying the Mexican roll and the spicy garlic edamame. I have to say for being my first time here the service was absolutely amazing. Thank you Vivian for always being so attentive to me I appreciate you and the excellent service you provided me! Unfortunately, while I was there, I experienced a rude customer and didn't like the way she approached the situation. She could've been much more respectful to Vivian and a bit more understanding. I do have to say Vivian handled it well and killed her with kindness. Honestly, she is what customer service has always represented and we need more of her in the restaurant industry! Lastly,I really liked the inside because it was small and the ambience was beautiful.

Was in. The mood to try a new sushi place and this was close to work. We were warmly greeted by the waitress and seated right away. The restaurant had plenty of seating and looked clean and homey. We loved that they had lots of lunch special options. We ordered the salmon teriyaki, tempura and California roll lunch special. It came with miso soup and salad. The miso soup was delicious! Not salty at all. Then when our meal came my co workers and I were all impressed by the portions of our lunch ! Definitely worth the price we paid !!the salmon was perfectly cooked and the teriyaki sauce was not too sweet or too salty. The tempura was hot and crispy and the California roll had a perfect ratio of sushi rice to filling . We will be making this sushi place one of our regular lunch options for sure!

What can I say ? I'm addicted like that song and I just can't get enough. I just can't get enough ! Lol No seriously, I am. The rolls taste fresh they always modified my order cuz I can't have flour, no tempura, I'm not crying :,( I mean I am :( I also don't get it fried. Weird ? Maybe but I love it. So basically, it's just a California roll woth cream cheese, and spicy tuna on the outside. Maybe they can name it after me haha The Lupita Roll ! Lol Pssst You need a roll like this in the menu ;) I wish I could order with baked salmon ! That would be yummy too. Hint hint ! First time getting the fried rice. It was a 2fer can't say no. It was good but I think the black stuff on top which looked like sesame seeds were too salty. Check out this place I think it's better than the other place I used to go to. Not saying any names but by Applebees. I just wish they had a Victoria Secret Roll like my first favorite Sushi spot for Holics lol. Ordered through Uber eats and I'm glad I picked this spot. Everything was packaged nicely and well prepared. Lobster roll: it was actually lobster not crawfish. Really good and the lobster tasted fresh. Spicy tuna roll: fresh, well prepared. Really good as well. Tempura roll: it was buy 1 get one, great price for 2 roll. Big pieces of shrimp tempura inside.

The wife and I decided to try this for dinner. Great small local sushi restaurant. Very clean and well kept. Servers were very attentive and courteous. Food was amazing. Great flavors, fresh fish. Will definitely be back.

I stopped by for dinner the other day. The restaurant is very nice inside. There is a lot of beautiful art on the walls. The service was very efficient. In under 5 minutes, I was seated, had water, and an order placed. For the appetizer, I ordered the spicy edamame. I also ordered a sushi set with 8 pieces of sushi from the dinner special menu. I also ordered the Moana Roll from the regular menu. The spicy edamame came out first, along with the miso soup that comes with the sushi set. The edamame was very flavorful. It had garlic and Japanese chilies. The bottom is a bit oily. I suggest tapping off the edamame on the secondary plate provided. The miso soup was good; It was standard in flavor. The sushi set came out next. The fish tasted fresh. I also appreciated the variety of fish served. I enjoyed dipping the pieces in wasabi. The California Roll was good. The avocado made it taste creamy. The Moana Roll was good. I'm not big on sauces on sushi rolls, but the sauce on the roll was good. It tasted like a dressing. The spicy tuna was creamy. I'm looking forward to the next visit and trying different items.

Cute and clean restaurant and I was surprised at the quality of the fish. No wait time on a weekday lunch. Was promptly greeted and seated They have a good selection of rolls, both fresh and tempera. I do recommend the hamachi sake roll. It's simple but tasted great. The sun kissed roll has a lot of sauce on it, which I found a bit strong. Lots of pickled onions on top which were nice to snack on. Each piece of fish is the sashimi combo is very fresh. Would definitely get again. They have lunch combos as well which I'll be sure to try in the future. Will be returning in the future to satisfy my sushi cravings.

By far my favorite Sushi restaurant in town. We routinely order the garlic edamame & gyoza to start.. both delicious. Sushi rolls are always fresh, delicious, and beautifully displayed. Staff is friendly and attentive in this smaller restaurant, where crowds are never too big. I have yet to have a bad meal or experience here.. highly recommend for a local sushi night out.

We come here all the time keep forgetting to put this for review. This is really quality driven sushi and roll place and the price is surreal, this is our third time visiting we pretty much had all the menu listed still unable to come to a conclusion which is our favorites. All the food is superb the quantity of food is massive. First we always start with seasoned edamame and baked mussels move on with main entree usually we go with sanyo, crunch and glendora if you like poke get the poke roll its amazing! And if you are still hungry you have to get willy billy my personal favorite. Again this is our favorite roll place all hands down in cali. And so far this place is always pleasant to come with great service. Oh and yes they have the (underlined) green tea ice cream!!! The best creamy hmm wonder where I can buy the ice cream! read more

As soon as you walk into this place, it feels like an old-school neighborhood ma and pop joint. It is. Very warm and welcoming, and seems like the kids who work there are locals I love it. We always go during Happy Hour last time they had the 2 for 1 rolls, which is a great value, and $3.95 appetizers. I love meeting my kiddoes here after work, a win-win, I don't have to cook and everyone's satisfied. The specialty rolls are super creative and big! Everything I've had here is super fresh. I am not a huge fan of super-plain raw fish sushi, but I have tried cali rolls, spicy tuna, and every derivative of those types- they are packed and super yummy. With the 2-for-1 you can get adventurous and try something new. Tempura is on-point. I haven't tried the ramen yet- if this chilly weather holds up I'm def going to soon. It's dark and homey inside, and we never have to wait to be seated. That's my kinda place. If you live close by, I definitely recommend placing Sanyo in your rotation. Due to the weather being a little chilly, we were craving some ramen and decided to give this place a shot. It did not disappoint. I had the spicy miso ramen along with the spicy tuna crispy rice. It was delicious! Service was quick and everyone was really nice and attentive. We didn't wait long for our food to be served. There is more than enough parking available and there was no wait time when we went. Will definitely be going back for more! read more

Was passing by and we saw this place. We love sushi and we eat lots of sushi and check out all kids of sushi places. About this place we felt like the garlic edamame a little over priced but they were very delicious. We also don't like imitation crabs so we got all the rolls that had spicy tuna in them. Really good rolls but they all had the same flavors the 911 roll was not spicy enough so it's not really the 911 more like 411. And the other rolls tasted the same. The premium sashimi was delicious blue fin tuna was a hit. Most of the rolls have imitation crab inside. read more

My new favorite sushi spot in the area! They are currently opened for takeout during COVID which I have ordered a few times for pick-up and delivery via DoorDash. The sushi rolls are freshly made with many options. I also liked that they have a happy hour everyday including weekends! I haven't had a chance to dine-in yet but am looking forward to when I can! read more

Their dinner combos are fabulous!!! I love the #6 roll combo. I always sub the salad for an extra miso soup. Please note, although the menu says you get rice, you do not get a side of rice with this specific combo. Great price regardless for what you get and it's also so fresh and tasty! read more

I love this place! First off, costumer service is in a league of its own, they're so attentive and always on top of their game. I've been at the sushi bar a couple of times and is always a party, and the table service is always great. The food, just like the service it's amazing! We had the paradise roll, sesame chicken, albacore croquettes, garlic edemame, some salmon and fatty yellowtail nigiri, all of the dishes were extremely good, I've been to a bunch of Japanese places and the flavor here surpasses most of them if not all of them. read more

Happy hour on a Saturday. Yes, please! I came here with family for dinner and totally took advantage of the promo. We ordered the 911 roll, Alaskan roll, hot tuna crunch roll and the Sakura roll (my favorite). I'll start with the Sakura roll. I've never had anything like it! The albacore was super tasty and the roll was served with thinly sliced onion and a generous bunch of cilantro. The combination was so refreshing. I wish I ordered two. The 911 roll was served with a chili oil spread on top. I enjoyed it but I wasn't hooked. I'm a big fan of spicy food but in this dish, the spicy sauce took over. I don't even remember the fish. The Alaskan roll is my safe, go to roll. It's a California roll with salmon on top. Yum. The hot tuna crunch roll was a little overwhelming to me. I think it was too fried for my liking. The service was good and the vibe was cool. Worth a try for happy hour. read more

I heard about this place from one of my friend and decided to try it with my family today. OMG this is the place to go for sushi! What a good quality fish and amazing service! Roll was amazingly good with fresh fish and we ordered more than we were supposed to since we wanted to try more rolls. All the rolls were amazing and garlic edmame was so good. I may have previously posted that this place was good but this place is going down hill. The Sushi most of the time is good at this place, however, the lady who runs the front, and is the cashier 90% of the times, is extremely rude. She is always in a bad mood. Not good for clientele. I will not be coming back to this place anymore. That's too bad. I'm sure other Sushi bars in the area are just as good. Any recommendations? read more

absolutely LOVED this place! I'm super picky when it comes to sushi, especially quality but this place deserves the 5 stars. sat at the bar during happy hour, such amazing deals/prices and so flavorful! tried the gyoza, garlic edamame, baked mussels, 2 rolls and some sashimi, AMAZING! I'm trying to be stingy with my 5's, but this place hits it on many levels! Sushi Chef- Felix is half Korean, half Japanese but has over 20 yrs experience with Sushi prep. He is coaching me in how to eat sushi (when not to use wasabi and shoyu). I appreciate the coaching! Sake- Recommended a great Ginjo Junmai Sushi- Prepares amazing sushi. Try the uni with Japanese oyster. It is amazing! You can taste the fresh ocean! Proximity to home- Cannot be overlooked, especially with the added benefit of good sakes! read more

It's my favorite Friday lunch spot always on point the owner is so attentive the food is fresh and the price you can't beat it I love this spot seriously my favorite I even told all the girls from my job about this spot you can't go wrong . I have tried a few sushi spots in the area and this has been the best so far. The fish is always fresh and they have many options for rolls. I usually only do sushi, but have fallen in love with the Glendora roll. The tempura adds the perfect crunch, while the cream cheese and spicy crab on top is the perfect compliment. I have been ordering from GrubHub, but when I do go in for pick up they are always friendly. I can't wait to eat inside when it opens again, until then to go will do. read more

At this point, I have eaten at the majority of Japanese restaurants in the area and so far, I like this one the best. It combines all of aspects of great food, service and ambience and the prices are very reasonable. The space is very spacious. Our server Jojo was very attentive and we appreciated the friendly service. read more

This place used to be dai shogun and is now ayce / regular items restruarant. Came on Monday feb 23 around 12 for lunch ayce Place is very traditional and actually has a nice ambiance. The sushi bar is a corner square total of 13 seats maybe. 4 were already in use. They give you a regular menu and a write on menu. The menu you have multiple options or choose from tofu to fresh oyster to rolls. Started off with Shumai: 10 *never tried b4* Calamari: 7+ 3(sauce) Spicy scallops: 10 Octopus: 6 Blossom: salmon rolled over crab meat 10 Shrimp boat: 4- could of been deep fried longer Tamago: 9 *never tried b4* Ono: 4 I've had better Masago; always good. I was really excited to come here after seeing many of the 5 star reviews. Unfortunately I had to give this place a 4. I think my biggest mistake was ordering hot food when this place seems to be known for their sushi. The Order: Spicy tuna crunch: good roll spicy tuna wasn't overly spicy. Alaskan Roll: your basic Californian Roll topped with salmon. This roll was really good and was topped with a nice fatty piece of salmon. Very tasty and was my favorite of the night. Takoyaki: fried balls of octopus. I saw a picture of the raw octopus pieces with garnishes so when they brought out these fried balls I was disappointed. It was okay but will never order it again. Japanese Chicken Wings: perfectly fried chicken, but I felt like it was lacking in taste. I guess I was hoping for something that was going to have more flavor like a chicken karaage. Miso Ramen Soup: I was really disappointed with this dish. I was hoping for a thick ramen soup base but instead it was very thin and clear. It kind of reminded me of the instant ramens. I do not recommend ordering this dish. Pros: Staff is very friendly and helpful. The 2 rolls that we ordered were delicious. The sushi tasted really fresh and loved the salmon. They have a great happy hour everyday from 3-6. Cons: We went for happy hour so it wasn't too crowded. But there was this obnoxious kid screaming off the top of his lungs that was sitting on the other side of the restaurant and it felt like he was sitting behind us. Point of story it can get loud. The hot food is okay. You really need to order the sushi to get your monies worth. Overall: I highly recommend coming here. They have a great happy hour and the sushi is great. Tried it for the first time yesterday because we were craving sushi. We live in Azusa so the location of this sushi bar was perfect. The restaurant is clean and well kept. Our hostess and waitress were very kind and attentive. We had just missed happy hour! Ordered 3 rolls: the Moana, the hamachi sake and Sakura. I would say the Sakura was my favorite. Sadly, I didn't take a picture of that one!! It was a California roll topped work yellowtail and red onion, cilantro and a delicious cilantro dressing sauce. So good. The moana was ok: salmon and avocado. And the hamachi sake was mostly albacore based. My husband also got an order of salmon sushi. Workers are scrambling around like they just got trained that day. Confused looks and panic ruled the evening. Workers continued to jog past me to handing out drinks and trays of items and never checking back in with the small crowd. Confusion over clarity remained the theme as large parties asked why they haven't been seated yet. Small parties asked when they would be seated and I waited for (1) roll. A purely bad experience from start to finish from a place I've enjoyed in the past. The moral of the story is to expect the unexpected. Even though I've had pleasant experiences in the past here, I have to report the details of this visit based on its own merits and not prior visits. I ended up with my roll and it seemed like it was sitting back there somewhere ignored, like the groups waiting to be seated. It seemed not so fresh and like it was made 25 minutes earlier.

I must say, I am in love! This place is top notch from food to service. I have never felt so welcoming and heartfelt dining at a restaurant. The staff were so attentive and knowledgeable about their menu, it is ridiculous. Every recommendations they made were amazing! After a few recommendations they made I decided to let them choose what I should eat because it so damn good!! I mean I eat a lot and 7 rolls are minimum when I go to a sushi restaurant. But not one dish of their recommendations disappointed me. Everyone, it is a must try!! Once you go Sanyo you will never look elsewhere for great tasting sushi! Normally I would have given this place 4 stars, but management has changed. They used to have all you can eat, it was one of the reasons we first decided to try this spot out. I was quite disappointed to sit down, order my drinks and plan my dinner only to have to realize there was no longer AYCE. Decided to give it a try anyways. Food was still good, but not as good as it used to be. Was very disappointed that my favorite sushi place just became and average sushi joint. While the staff was very nice, they stared at my table the entire time I was there (we were the only table there). I felt like I was guilty of a crime or something and made my meal very awkward. I probably would no longer recommend this place as a must-try, but rather as a last resort :( read more

First visit to Sanyo with my family. Highly recommend it. The Sanyo roll was super tasty, but all of them were. Savory, tangy, spicey, and just super good. Interesting new flavors I haven't encountered before, and really good. Service was very attentive, friendly. Wife never knows what to order and the waitress quickly gave us a detailed run down of her favorites, clearly knew the offerings. Beers on tap for a buck, quiet and clean. Hurry up and enjoy this little gem before it blows up, and it will soon. read more

Best sushi ever. Yellowtail Jalapeno cilantro fusion sashimi, Omg love that. Also every single roll we had (Mango Yellowtail, Sanyo, Glendora) was bomb. Their happy hour which is a plus include large selections of appetizers, special rolls and beer with very reasonable price. I probably gonna be charged 3 or 4 bucks more for each roll with this high quality at other restaurants. More people need to check it out.. read more

Great food! Great atmosphere! Great service! What else do you need? Definitely recommend to yelpers! Tonight, I ordered salmon, yellowtail and sweet shrimp sushi and the freshness of fishes were top notch. Also I had takoyaki and stuffed jalapeño and they were just perfectly cooked and tasted so good! I would say they can be good for beer food. I think I will be back tomorrow again! read more

The new ownership is doing a great job in the kitchen to turn this place around. New attitude, new taste, and a great new restaurant for Glendora and Azusa. Give it a chance to make a new impression. I highly recommend the spicy tuna with crispy rice, the Takoyaki with octopus in a lightly fried potato ball, and any of the well crafted rolls. read more

Love this place!!! The staff is so sweet! And Vivian gives the best service!! My favorite thing to get is the Las Vegas and salmon skin hand roll. Those two are a must!!! Not to mention they have the BEST happy hour special around!! read more

Finally sonyo is open. Menu is on the window and having promotio. Cant wait to try everything. Soft opening is tuesday, but they still take togo and walk in customers. read more
