Thai food in New York just hits different but this spot genuinely stole my heart I got the Branzino and the chicken Kee Mao noodles and I'm still thinking about both hours later. The Branzino was perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, and honestly felt like the main character of the table. And the Kee Mao noodles?? Wow. These Thai flavors are different from what I have previously. With the pork fried rice, you can taste the fire and char from the wok, which elevates the dish and provides a good depth of flavor. Pork jowl was also good, but could have been cut a bit smaller to capture the extra char for a stronger bite. Tom Yum Tiger Prawn soup was awesome. You'll need to get some white rice to go with that, especially on a cold or rainy day. Mama E-la didn't last long on the table. Enough said about that dish. Mixed feelings about this one. We came on a Tuesday so it wasn't that busy, but there were a lot of staff members. Food came out crazy fast. Like ordered in by the time I washed my hands it was on the table. We ordered the duck curry, khao soi, and sappe ribs. The standout was definitely the khao soi - so flavorful and the chicken was outstanding. However..our ribs never came. The waiter never put it in even though we had a full conversation about how good they were. So I left a bit hungry since portion sizes are small. Waiter apologized but didn't do anything about it. Have visited Sappe twice, and it's a fun spot on 14th Street for Thai street food done really well. The space is lively and colorful, with a boisterous energy, loud music, bright decor, and a packed room. I have been seated in both the front and back dining areas, and in each, tables are fairly close together, so it can feel a bit tight. The food is the highlight here, while the drinks are less compelling. Cocktails range from about $20 to $26 and tend to be overly complex. On my first visit, I ordered one with foam and too many ingredients and I ended up sending it back, and the staff handled it graciously and replaced it without issue. The, I tried the Somsri, which is essentially a dressed-up frozen margarita with guava purée and spicy plum powder, and I enjoyed that much more. Still, I would recommend focusing on the food. I have tried several dishes across visits. The skewers (four for $20) are a great place to start, I've tried the grilled mushroom and grilled marinated pork. Both times, I ordered the Mama-E-La ($25), a dish of grilled egg noodles with beef in a sweet soy-pepper glaze. It is very flavorful, slightly sweet, and satisfying. The papaya salad (Tum Thai Kai Kem) is also a very good, and an interesting twist on this more traditional salad with salted egg. The wings are another good option. Overall, I would recommend Sappe for its creative takes on Thai favorites and variety of dishes that make you want to come back and try more. I love Thai food and hopefully the feelings are mutual... We were looking for an aesthetic, yet vast menu-ed Thai spot and thankfully Sappe showed up. The inside reminds me of nightlife in Asia-colorful lights, loud noise from chatter, tight seating, and a karaoke esque room in the back for bigger parties. The fried rice was actually spicy even though I got a small spoonful and for its dish size, it felt more like an appetizer. I've been wanting to dine here but due to life priorities that will not be happening anytime soon. I discovered that Sappe delivers meals to my job via UberEats and took advantage of the promo. For today's lunch I ordered Thai iced tea which was BOGO and the lunch special containing Boong Moo Sub that came with an appetizer Fried Wonton with Quail egg. Everything hit the spot. Portions were perfect, spice balance was on point. Quail egg wontons were a bit messy but was glad that I tried it. I have yet to try the Thai ice tea as the portions were very generous. Great place for some authentic Thai food. We had a reservation for 5pm on Saturday and there was already a line when we got there. The restaurant is fairly large and casual, and can be a tad loud. We were seated promptly and the menu was through a QR code. We started off with the pork jowl which was nicely grilled and came with a spicy dipping sauce. For entrees we had the pad kee mao and the shrimp tom yum hot pot. The noodles were classic and the hotpot was rich. Service was quick and they were prompt with refilling my water. My friend and I started with the Mama E-La, their signature wok-fried egg noodles. The noodles had a deeply satisfying chew and a bold, savory flavor (garlicky, my fav!). It honestly would hit as a late-night-craving. Sappe is also well known for their skewers -- 12 options, all char-grilled over an open flame. Worth exploring, though in terms of appetizers I wouldn't order their fried enoki mushrooms again, which came out a little too oily for my taste. Their Buk Prao dessert was the surprise of the night and easily the best thing I ate. It's a whole coconut shell filled with sweet sticky rice, jackfruit, butterfly pea-infused coconut gelato, peanuts, and toasted coconut nibs, finished with a drizzle of evaporated milk. I'm not typically a dessert person, but this converted me. Don't skip it. Love the decor/aesthetics of restaurant and the employees were all attentive. My friend really enjoyed the spicy raw crab. The portion was great and had alot of meat in the crab. Some dishes were great while others weren't our favorites. We were a group of 3 and came pretty hungry so we were ready to order a lot of items. We started with the wings zaab which were amazing! The seasoning was perfect and it was so flavorful and delicious. As items were ready they would bring them to the table. We had the yum pu dong which was fermented blue crab, Mok kala which was a thick crab curry/paste, Pla rim khong which was branzino, green curry with grilled chicken, and Lek plara gai which was a noodle dish with chicken. Out of everything the wings and Lek plara gai were my favorites. The noodles were delicious and a really good sauce mixed in. I also did like the green curry but it was a typical curry dish. I feel like Semma does a really good job of helping diners navigate their creative menu selections to land a great well-rounded meal. Sappe would benefit from a similar approach, in my view. Came here because of my Chase Sapphire card and open table collaboration. I also found out that they're the sister restaurant to Soothr in LIC. It's very popular this place that they had a long wait even though you had a reservation. They apologized, but nothing was done about it afterwards. I made an 8:30pm reservation and didn't get seated until 9pm. Once you get inside it felt like a maze of trying not to bump into other customers or the staff. Anyways, there were so many dishes that I wanted to try here and did, such as the wings zaab which were the fried marinated chicken wings with spicy sappe powder on it, the isan beef rolls which were seared wagyu brisket wrapped around spicy fish dip and rice and this entire small bite was really delicious, the suer rong hai, the kee mao chicken, the beef noodle 101 is self explanatory which was beef noodle soup that I didn't like too much out of all the dishes that I ate there, and last but not least the cha guay tim nom which was a silky grass jelly, with chewy bubbles, homemade milk gelato, and sprinkled with brown sugar. I stopped in on a Friday night for dinner at Sappe with a friend and had a delightful evening. Thankfully, we had made a reservation (which I would highly recommend) because it was a hopping place. We were sat quickly and the staff were quickly at our table to ask for our drink and food order. They were very helpful at walking us through the menu and answering questions where needed. Our cocktails came out promptly and were both very, very good. The food followed closely behind - I was very impressed how quickly the food came out. It was a complete madhouse in there from the second we got in and we were told that there was an hour and a half seating time which we can definitely see why. The tables are very close together so you can practically taste the dishes at the other tables. They are a Thai street food inspired restaurant so we had to get their classic skewers. We got a sampler of 4 for $20 and got to try beef, pork, pork belly, and chicken. Every skewer got was very tender and flavored quite well. I enjoyed the sweetness of it and the overall taste. The standout of the night was definitely their fried enoki mushroom. Although oily, it was incredibly tasty and so crispy! I liked how it had some subtle spice to it. We also ordered their seasonal tiger prawn appetizer which had a really unique chewy texture. Their zaab wings were nice and tangy and quite large. I wasn't the biggest fan of their Thai style corn dogs, as it had less meat than I had hoped for. Dropped by during Sunday late lunch hour, and had a great food experience. We pretty much tried everything we like. All of them were nice except the rib was too salty.(but it came up with a bowl of rice, we needed to eat rice with it) Food was fresh and you can taste the grill, spices and zest combined together. They use good beef and fresh ingredients. It was a fun Thai street food type experience with this place. This place is a sister restaurant of Soothr. I can see the differences, this place is focusing on street food style, the skewers, the grill, the wok; Soothr is more focusing on Thai curry or traditional Thai dishes. Sappe was high on our list and it's clear why. Top 3 Thai spots I've had in the city and in my humble opinion the best of the fish cheeks, soothr family. There's a cost check at the entrance which is nice but it can get rather tight with welcoming new guests and checking others out but this is NYC. Once inside, it has an eclectic feel with the lights and warmth. The buzz of conversation is quite high but not unexpected. The service was quite good and Amy our waitress was lovely and guided us thru the menu and our options. We got quite a few dishes including the zaab hang, beef rolls, mama e-la, krapow Sam moo, and laab ped udon. The beef roll was an instant hit along with the krapow Sam moo. Each dish was quite delicious and I would love to explore the rest of the menu. Came here for some dinner takeout and they are so busy! Lots of people on a weekday night. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is a bit too loud and dark for me so I ordered to go. I was very disappointed by the Beef Jungo, it just didn't taste good and it looks so different from the menu photo. The Kapow Sam Moo was a bit fatty even for pork belly but it was very flavorful. The prawn karee had amazing curry flavor but there was very little shrimp for the cost. I would come back for takeout again but will definitely order different dishes to try! read more

Had a delicious meal last week here! We snagged an early resy awhile in advance and you definitely need one. When we left around 7 it was packed outside! They allow you to do coat check for long jackets so they don't drag on the floor which is nice. We started off with the ceviche and enoki mushrooms. Both were delicious. I wanted to try the scallop tart but it was sold out at the time. We also tried a few of the skewers - pork, beef and the pork stuffed pepper. All were good but i wish they were served a bit hotter.
