Great location if you're staying anywhere in Sapphire; especially Fairway Forest, because it's within walking distance from that resort. The only problem is that it's not always open. We came to Sapphire last January & stayed at Fairway Forest. My daughter's boyfriend actually researched this place before our trip, and we were anticipating trying it out ; however it was closed both Saturday & Sunday nights because there had been a snowstorm the day before. This year during our visit it was open on Saturday night, but only till 8:00. We arrived at 7:30, and it seemed as if they were getting set to close up. It's a cute rustic place, right after the 18th hole on the golf course, and daytime mountain views are spectacular! I wanted to try a flight of local beers; however our waitress stated that I had to get 5 specific kinds. I didn't want any IPAs so I settled on just one then, an apple cider type, snd it was served really cold and was quite good. My sister ordered a Captain & Diet Coke; but they were out of Captain. She then said she'd take any type of Canadian whiskey; but they didn't have that either., she finally settled on a Maker's Mark. My husband had an old-fashioned and he said it was fine, but nothing spectacular. I ordered a wedge salad which was really good; but definitely not a "wedge." It actually had very little lettuce....maybe because we were there right before closing? My husband daughter's boyfriend both had the Alcoholic Burger, which was made with beer-cheese. They both really liked it. My mom & sister both ordered the chili and they both said it was just o.k. They got the big pretzel appetizer to share too, and that was pretty good and we all had a little. There aren't many restaurants in Sapphire and the Sapphire Brewery was really convenient and cozy. We did enjoy our time there so I I would definitely give them another try next time I'm in Sapphire......I'll just probably call ahead to make sure they're open. read more

Beautiful view from outside seating. Nice enough staff but automated and just going through the motions. We'd been told to get the Appalachian nachos but that was chili poured over potato chips. Little cheese. A few onions. BBQ was not good. Chicken Salad pita had more tomato on it then salad and that was after I ordered it with no tomato. I bet I had a tablespoon of chicken salad in an extra large tortilla. Loved the balsamic creamy dressing. Would've ordered the dessert pretzels but wasn't given a chance. I should have been tipped off by the 3 star Yelp rating, which I normally pay attention to, but it was the Brewery on the property we were staying at, so we decided to roll the dice. Unfortunately, we crapped out big time. I sampled one of their own 4 drafts on tap, an IPA, and was underwhelmed, so I ordered a club soda. My partner sampled their red ale and stout, and found them both mediocre at best, and asked for another sample of the last of their own drafts, and our server declined, saying there's a two sample limit per person. These were only less than half a shot glass size samples, and all he was trying to do was find a beer he wanted to drink. I had only one sample, so I asked for that sample, so we would be within their rules, which she rudely declined, made a snarky remark about it, and that's all it took for us to get up and leave, after paying $2.50 for a short glass of club soda. We were the only customers in the whole place, and our server made it quite obvious she wasn't concerned about our patronage, in the least bit. Now there's no customers here at all! read more

My wife and I needed a lift in the middle of the afternoon today. We were near Sapphire Mountain Brewing Company and decided to try it. What a delightful place for food and drink. We sat on a deck with beautiful views of the gold course. We were served craft-brewed beer, local cider and some delicious food. The mesclun with strawberries, goat cheese, chickpeas and a raspberry vinaigrette was as exceptional. The young lady that served us was cordial, helpful and efficient. We were visiting Burlingame CC and heard the views here were great. We read the recent reviews and were very skeptical due to the recent reviews (saying food took forever to come out, the service was bad, etc.). Those reviews were NOT accurate. We were told by our wonderful server, Ashley, that there is a new chef as of 10 days or so (August 3, 2017) who is taking on the task of getting good food out timely. He did! We were a table of 5 + 1 toddler. We ordered drinks (beer and mixed drink) and an appetizer right away and both came out at the appropriate time. We then ordered two salads, a pizza, a calzone, and a kids meal. All the food was good, it came out quickly, and we couldn't have been more happy with our decision. We were very impressed. We actually used Google to make a reservation tome and our table was ready with a "reserved" sign. Kudos to that becuse this spot has very limited seating. Keep in mind that this IS a brewery so the menu is limited but we were able to find something for everyone. The burgers and O-rings were very tasty and give a nice bang for the buck. Our service was great and the food was awesome. By the way, the brick oven pizzas looked AMAZING AND SMELLED EVEN BETTER. Don't waste your time going here... or they will waste yours! Our waitress sat us, then came by 30 minutes later to take drink orders but then made us wait another 30 minutes to take our food orders when we told her we were ready to order. And there was only 1 other table of customers. The beer was good, but the food was terrible. The jalapeño wraps are okay, but the calzone tastes half baked and anyone could make a better calzone at home. My nephew took one bite of his quesadilla and stopped. The pizzas and salad arrived at the same time. No entree. 2nd round of drinks ordered. The salad had so much dressing on it, it was inedible. Also, if you give me a salad and pizza at the same time, the food gets cold. We sent it back (which I rarely ever do). Still no entree. 10 minutes lapse, so I walked inside to ask where it was. She said the kitchen had burned the first order, so they were making another. It would've been nice to know this earlier. Entree arrived, although we were halfway through our pizzas. Second round of drinks arrived as we were finishing our food. We ordered them when the pizza arrived. As we were leaving, the next table over received their two pizzas. And 30 seconds later, two identical pizzas hit the table. By mistake. The kitchen needs to get their act together. Food feels like basic pub fare, but priced like a higher end restaurant. You're paying for a nice view and location. We ordered stuffed jalapeño peppers. They were well cooked, and had a nice cooling sauce on the side, but only three of them for $9? Ouch. The "angry bird" chicken sandwich was good. The chicken was well cooked, and the veggies were fresh. It was reasonably priced at $9 (on our menu), but for some reason rang up as $10 on the bill. There was no service charge for fries, and we didn't bring it up since it was just a dollar, so I can't hold it against them. We did not want to sit inside due to COVID so we thought we would just order the food for take out (since they advertise that they do take out on their menu). Typical pub food, but this place has indoor & outdoor seating that overlooks a beautiful view of a valley and the mountains. My mom, her neighbor, and I stopped in and had a selection of beers and a flatbread as an appetizer. Then we ordered a couple different pizzas: one meat-lovers that had just about every animal you would imagine it woul and then also a chicken BBQ one. Both were top-notch! I write this review for drinking only!!! As I only enjoyed an afternoon of beer sipping overlooking the golf course and didn't partake in any food. So know that going in! This isn't a brewery in the usual sense of the word in that they sell local craft beers and only 3 of their own product. My husband and I enjoy trying the local brews and had a great time trying all the beers they had on tap (we split a tasting flight). Beautiful view. That's it. Literally the worst dining experience I've had in years. The food was cold and prepared incorrectly, and they didn't apologize for our offer to fix it even after acknowledging that they didn't have the ingredients they needed. Unhelpful staff from moment 1 until we were done. Video games for the little kids ate their money but the restaurant was "not responsible". Lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids was almost $70. We just had the best time!! Today was absolutely beautiful out, we sat on the outdoor patio that overlooked a lush mountain and the first and 18th hole of a golf course in the area. It was quite picturesque. Lee made our drinks to perfection. Andrea was darling and took a picture of what she referred to us as "the happy group". Their red ale was quite tasty and the porter is somethin to sample as well, for sure. The Genoa pizza and the shrimp scampi~the sauce is pure heaven] both had me on a food high for, well, I'm still in foodie heaven and it's been a couple hours now since our visit. Oh what a joy it was to go to this sweet place in Cashiers, NC. If you go, you will be well cared for with great service, fine foods and a lovely atmosphere. She even brought us complimentary chips and salsa after about 45 minutes to try to get us to hang in there, but over an hour wait after ordering is obviously unreasonable. Wife and I have been here several times in the past few years. First time all was spot on even the musicians were great. Made our little place. We make it a point to come back every time we're in town. Food/ pizzas and calzones are always awesome. The staff has been hit and miss. Sapphire Mountain Brewing Company had me all excited. When I visit places, I like to check out a local brewery and a hot spot on yelp. I hadn't found any breweries in the Cashiers/Highlands area until I passed a sign for this place on 64. We pulled in and started following the signs - that go the entire way around a golf course. Finally at our destination, we park while a herd of golf carts with golfers are amassed ready to tee off. That should have been my first warning. We hop on into the brewery - which is noted on the door as family friendly...okay... It looks like a restaurant inside - alright, we go sit at the bar. Waiiit, there are 10 tap handles and 7 of them are from places that I know? Second warning. Talk to the lovely bartender and get a menu, there are only 3 beers "which you can't get anywhere else." I take that to mean, Sapphire Mountain Brewing Company has three beers on tap here and nowhere else do they serve these beers. Third warning. We get a flight - which is 5 beers, obviously trying the 3 Sapphire Mountain beers, but also some Wicked Weed and New Belgium (semi-local). The Sapphire Mountain beers were good - I liked the stout the best. We chatted with the bartender some more and learned about the history of the place. - The beers are not brewed onsite - the county used to be a dry county so the brewery is located elsewhere. - Although the logo says established 1888, its closer to 1998. The first owners just thought it made them look cooler. Sapphire Mountain Brewing Company is less brewery, more family restaurant at golf course/resort. read more
