Let's start with absolutely nothing was wrong, I went there with friends, service was great, food was right above OK without excessively passing good. I mean, I ate it, I didn't hate it, but I've got no plans to go back unless my friends are going there again in which case I probably will just drink. The vegetarian items were. My guess is the meat side is where it's at based on my Henderslovakian friends loving it, but the vegetarian side was nothing to text home about. One of those rare places that has seemingly gotten better with time. We love this restaurant! We went around 7pm on a Wednesday, and were seated right away. The service is excellent and they are very attentive. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and my husband got beef bulgogi bento box. When I say it's a bunch of food, trust me! There's sooooo much! Each box comes with your choice of 4 rolls, we both got the California roll, veggie and shrimp tempura, soup and salad, two crab cream cheese rolls, rice and your entree. All of the items were delicious! It was so much food, that we took all of our many entrees home. The leftovers were delicious too! The restaurant has plenty of parking, and a decent amount of tables. Sapporo is my favorite sushi spot. The service is excellent. Special care is taken with each customer. I look around and everyone is smiling and enjoying their food. The atmosphere suits both family outings and date nights. The sushi chefs are friendly and the sushi ingredients are always fresh and displayed so that you see what you're eating. If you've never tried plum wine, do so. I'm not sure what brand they serve but it is delicious! The pricing is reasonable. I highly recommend Sapporo! read more

My entree was Bimimbap, my korean grandmother makes this for me and honestly no complaints, the portion was 2-3 meals in one bowl. The sweetest of the sweetest people work here. I am in town for a visit and I came here for dinner. I ordered the salmon tataki and agedashi and both were so good and hit the spot. My only regret was accidentally dropping my sake cup which made the entire restaurant gasp. It was empty and I rested it on top of the sake bottle and it fell off. Sad face on that. But happy face on the food, the service, the people, and the entire restaurant for being so sweet and accommodating. read more

While this Sapporo location is much more convenient for me, I will go out of my way to visit the Gallatin location. The service is much faster and friendlier in Gallatin for one. The ambiance in the Madison store is, is, is, ...... just gross. This is my second visit and I just feel gross while there. It's not warm or welcoming . It's kinda dirty. I feel like I'm bothering them when I visit. The "host" will give you menus and point to a table and say "sit". Then you sit there for 15 mins until you're looking around for service. Someone will then come to the table and take your entire order. Having a drink or munching on and appetizer before ordering is not an option. The quality and taste of everything is better in Gallatin location , as well. The Crab ISO is one of my favorites and it's just been ruined for me by the Madison store. read more

I had a great time at Sapporo. It was my first time. The food was great. The menu is expansive and full of variety. I love that there was a lunch menu on Saturday, total bonus. Due to the lunch rates ($6.99 for 2 rolls with soup and salad) I ordered a lunch meal as my appetizer. I got the snapper and salmon rolls, miso soup, and salad (ginger dressing was fire)! I also had a large sake!! It was warm and awesome. For the meal I got the miso chicken ramen. Obviously this was a huge meal and I took majority home. My friends got a roll each (911 and coco rolls) theirs were awesome. They also got and loved the pork miso ramen and spicy beef miso ramen. Overall I can't wait to go again and try something else. I had to ask for toppings and was told by my server they don't usually plate the noodles like the menu picture. That was weird! The miso broth was very watered down. Honestly pretty disappointed, I could've done better at home with .50 cent pack of ramen. Not joking!!! I also had spicy crab and spicy tuna rolls. They were both good and adequate for the lunch price of $7.99 for both. Place has been remodeled since I was last here and the layout is open. Holy lunch menu Batman! You may want to take a look before going especially if you have a hard time deciding! I wasn't super hungry, but you get miso soup a salad and two sushi rolls. Everything was very tasty! I opted for "spicy" rolls both were good but low spice level. The honey spicy mayo is very mayo heavy. Both co workers ordered a form of soup - I will definitely be ordering pho next time! Relatively busy, but fast service and friendly staff. This was a surprise gem! We have lived a mile from this for a year & I never paid it any attention because of the strip mall it's in. Immediately was surprised when we walked in & saw how modern & minimalist the decor was. The vibe was nice, 90s R&B playing. The music was shocking! I'll be back for that alone! Friendly staff greet you as you enter and you can sit anywhere, at the sushi bar or one of many tables throughout the restaurant. Quick seating and ordering process and the servers are very knowledgeable regarding all the menu items. Korean bowls are full of soups, stews and noodle dish's as made in Korea. Sushi is very fresh, tasty and portions are much larger than other sushi purveyors in the area. We have been regular customers for over 20 years and the same family runs the restaurant. Three large screen tv's (no sound) over the sushi bar make for an interesting visit if you choose to sit at the sushi bar. I recommend the Alaska roll while my wife favors shrimp or chicken fried rice and an order of gyoza. Fun neighborhood gathering place for good sushi or Korean food. This is another place that does excellent sushi but they have the best prices I have found. The food is very good. Here are some of my faves: vegetarian sushi roll, bulgogi, chicken karage, chicken curry katsu, any teriyaki entree, any tempura, and udon curry soup. Their bento lunch boxes are a delicious mix and priced well. Inside, I am told, has been remodeled and is minimalist/modern in decore. It is clean and clutter free which I like. The staff is great. Everything here is expensive and nasty, I ordered a kimchi soup, teriyaki steak, and dumplings. The kimchi soup looked and tasted as if they mixed water hot sauce and salt, the noodles tasted cheap and extremely similar to microwave ramen soup. The teriyaki steak was very chewy almost like rubber and was obvious that it was cheap. However presentation on the dumplings and teriyaki steak were actually alright looking unlike the soup. I used to know his asian and american name. He is still smiling and as friendly as it gets, working his butt off. And they have remodeled recently also. I've passed this place for years but never stopped for whatever reason. This is hands down the best Japanese restaurant I've had in a long time in Tennessee. The service here is amazing, the nicest staff I've ever seen. They are beyond helpful and have made me feel welcome, almost like family. The food is also top notch. I got the creamy ramen, which was such a huge serving I couldn't finish. The flavors in the broth are very good and not overly salty like other establishments. The gyoza was amazing. The I'm hungry roll was breathtakingly beautiful and mild, yet flavorful. The bulgogi is the best we have had since manna Korean closed down. The fried rice was also amazing. I have never left a restaurant this satisfied. I will return and I highly suggest you give them a shot as well. read more

We were highly disappointed in the quality of the food and are shocked by all the positive reviews. We ordered take out and received 2 bland rolls and 2 very disappointing ramen bowls. The miso ramen had flavorless broth with noodles that were no better than a .50 cent pack from the grocery store. They tasted overcooked and mushy. My husbands spicy miso ramen had better flavor; However, both ramens came with over cooked boiled eggs and only bean sprouts. Our sushi rolls came with no wasabi or ginger on the side. The wasabi was definitely needed to provide additional flavor to the lackluster rolls. The only happy guy was our 5 year old who enjoyed the white rice. We will not eat here again or recommend to anyone who enjoys good sushi or ramen. read more
