Sapporo is my go to Japanese restaurant for take out in my neighborhood. The food is delicious and they have several options from authentic noodle-based dishes to sushi or hibachi. I was going to give them a higher rating but they forgot my fried rice in my takeout order and didn't answer the phone when I called for a refund on the rice last night. The first pictured item is their ginger salad, which consists of a few pieces of lettuce and would be pretty meh if it weren't for the delicious ginger dressing. The mushroom onion soup is decent but not amazing. My favorite part of this order was actually the crab rangoons, these are melt and flaky on the outside and actually come with imitation crab on the inside unlike some other restaurants that only have cream cheese. These things melt in your mouth and even have a hint of sweetness to them. The Salmon Hibachi is also delicious. Consisting of udon noodles, a mix of carrots, broccoli, zucchini and onion. The salmon itself is crispy and almost blackened, just the way I like it. This comes with a container of yum yum sauce that goes very well with the hibachi. Overall I am pleased, just don't forget my fried rice next time!

Cute little suburban spot to grab food before a show if you're near Mystic Lake. They appeared to have a full bar and I was able to get Sake as well as a Tequila shot before an event. It does take a while to get served and it also takes a while to have your food come out, so plan accordingly. We ordered a few Speciality Rolls and some Hot Sake! The rolls had good flavor and were saucy, but the cuts were quite large and I found myself struggling to eat them in one bite. A bit messy. The Sake went down just fine! In general, the service was very friendly! Easy parking lot parking. It's part of a strip and looks very plain on the outside, but warm and cute on the inside.

Well decorated, quiet restaurant with many booths, also tables and bar seating. Server was attentive and helpful. Food was very yummy! I had a tempura dish with some light flavor sauce and the shumai was very flavorful. My companion got the chicken habachi lunch and that was super yummy as well. Will have to come back again :)

First time ordering from Sapporo and I was really pleased. I ordered the Winter Roll which was yummy but the outer thin wrap of pale ?seaweed made it look a little unappetizing. Did not affect the delicious flavor. The side of Hibachi Fried Rice was an excellent choice because it had a wonderful smoky hibachi flavor. I also tried the Crab Rangoon because how can you go wrong with crab and cream cheese fried in a wonton? You can't.

We frequent the usual sushi places in Chanhassen and decided to try Sapporo as they were on door dash. We ordered the chicken hibachi and some sushi. We were in for a pleasant surprise. So I feel like I've tried all places in the SW burbs. What could be different? We were blown away by the portions of the hibachi. Hibachi already can serve easily 2. Um this sucker weighted 5 pounds. The amount of chicken was probably a 1.5 large chicken breast perfectly cooked. The noodles were so good. Almost prefer noodles versus rice. The veggies were just like all others. The sauce, was on another level. I love a good shrimp or yum yum sauce. This by far as the best sauce I've had. The sushi, we had 3 different types and it was so fresh. Pleasantly surprised and skeptical as I'm used to sushi from soya, sake, and kais, which is good. Nothing earth shattering. The rice and fish were so fresh, didn't have that gummy rice texture that I encounter with some sushi places. Highly recommend and splitting the hibachi meal. Oh and the onion soup, my husband's favorite.

I'm positive I heard a rap song playing in the background with F-bombs included. I'm no prude, as I curse frequently, but I think its inappropriate to have that playing in an establishment where children may be present. With that in mind, onto the food and service... I find it very interesting the lunch plates come with noodles, which is something I hate. Fried rice was a $2.95 upgrade. I don't recall an option for plain rice. There may have been and I missed it, but I think the noodles do nothing. You get two sauces with your meal. One is ginger based. The other appeared to be a miso-style aioli. Both of these sauces were excellent accompaniments to the chicken. The vegetables that come with the meal are haphazardly selected. Onions, broccoli, carrots, and zucchini. Seemed to be an overabundance of carrot compared with everything else. I also ordered a Boston roll...something simple to go with my meal. No complaints with it--shrimp, lettuce, cucumber, and spicy mayo are hard to screw up. The roll was well constructed. Interesting people around Shakopee were so hard up for a Japanese restaurant they seem to be overrating this place. Food was good, but not great. I've had worse. I've also had better.

Indoor and outdoor are very comfortable, suitable for couples dating, the atmosphere is very good, after eating can also walk around the center. Never wrote a review before but doing this for this little sushi bar gem. Over all very satisfied with the food and service here. Decent price for good quality sushi -- less nice, more meat, freshness, and presentation. I can't say for other food but we loved the ones we ordered. Shakopee rolls are so refreshing -- light, lots of meat, no carb and well balance with other stuff we ordered. Nothing we ordered disappoints us. Well, maybe the warm sake. I actually didn't like the sake we ordered -- sake itself wasn't impressive enough for me, the flask and cups weren't clean (or seems weren't washed well -- they had weird smell like soy sauce??). Beside all that we still enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. Will def come again and recommend this place!!! Hope they fix their sake set though. Still deserves 4 stars from me! read more

Fantastic hibachi. Fantastic sushi. I usually don't like a "standard" sushi like a california roll or boston roll, but even those are just EXCELLENT at Sapporo. Staff is always very sweet. I've been there with family and been there with a friend for a longer dinner of drinks and food and chatting, and they are able to wait on us quickly (family) or give us some time to order (with friends, getting drinks and chatting). Very clean inside, nice decor. Sushi prices are great - hibachi will run you at dinnertime ($16-$20 depending on the meat you pick). Worth it - I love going. read more

Tried Sapporo for the first time tonight and boy was I impressed!! My sister and I decided we weren't hungry enough for All u Can Eat at Kyoto (our usual go to spot). So we tried Sapporo. WOW!! The rolls and sides were excellent!! So flavorful and...hearty? If that word makes sense. We got plenty full and had to take home what we couldn't finish. We will Definitely be back soon. This place is fairly new and overall I liked it. The mango Hawaiian roll was good and the BMW roll was good. But the crazy roll (usually my favorite) was lacking. I will be back to try more things on the menu and maybe they will wow me to 5 stars then. read more

Great Sushi and Our waiter Jack was fantastic and attentive. I am a Cali guy and have seen a lot of good sushi in my day, but this might just be my new favorite place! Really good quality and love the presentation of the food! The only reason I didn't go 5 stars to Sapporo was only because the food took a bit longer than usual but when you get it, you will see it's worth the wait! It's All good because I had an ice cold Sapporo beer to keep me content. I recommend trying it if you're looking for a new best sushi spot! read more

I would post a picture of what we had, but after the first bite it was basically gone. Food was excellent, online ordering was simple and pickup was quick and easy. I love sushi and was on a search for a really good resturant after moving here from Illinois and this hit the right spot. You guys have a returning guest for sure. read more

You should go by at Sapporo Japanese restaurant because their food is the best they should win an award because the food is so delicious it's the best the restaurant is always clean they always give you nice clean plates beautiful flowers when they give you your sushi best sushi ever and dessert.it only takes like 15 to 10 minutes to get your food super fast. mostly the California rolls are delicious their salads are delicious everything is delicious in there,and they really Impress me because the restaurant is always clean and such a good people and nice people. good service, I love the restaurant. read more

I'm glad Shakopee has a new restaurant choice. I stopped in for lunch and the Chicken Katsu box was great! My son had the Hibachi Chicken lunch and he really enjoyed it. We just had dinner here at Sapporo. In fact, I'm sitting in the restaurant dictating into my phone for this review. Jack, the sushi chef, was phenomenal! We simply told him we wanted a great dinner and whatever he thought was best would be fine. He did not disappoint. We must've had at least seven or eight courses of delicious sushi lovingly and expertly prepared by Jack. And to end it all he brought us a lovely dessert... not too sweet. Perfect! Ordered Sapporo for delivery and was blown away! Although prices were a bit on the high end, the quality made it worth it. They were generous on the fish and each cut was clean and soft, and not fishy tasting which I hate! Their rice was also the right consistency and flavor for a nigiri imo. 10/10 would order again! read more

So, this is my 3rd visit here - 2 takeout and 2 eat ins. The manager and wait staff are FABULOUS! They are always ready with a suggestion of something to try or to stay away from. Amazing!! The food is so good, especially the hibatchi- and this is coming from a person that does not like sushi. The food here is great, which is why I have ordered take out on several occasions. Unfortunately, every time I order take out I have to wait a really long time when I pick it up. Today they told me 20 minutes. That was 50 minutes ago. I'm pretty sure they don't even start the order until I am physically there and waiting. It was fine when they first opened, but they have enough experience now that they should have this figured out. There is another Japanese place in town that I may have to consider. read more

This place is fantastic! The service was extremely prompt and friendly! The hibachi noodles and chicken we perfectly cooked and flavored! This place should be busier than it is…read more Walked in on a Friday evening to only a few occupied tables. As such, I was sat immediately. The water and menu came quickly. As I was placing my order, I inquired about the squid salad. I wasn't familiar with it. I knew I was gonna order either that or my usual favorite seaweed salad. She mentioned they were very different. Recommended that I go with the seaweed salad. She didn't tell me she was gonna bring out a small sample of the squid salad for me to try. I'd be OK going with the squid salad as well but it is very different. It's an earthier taste. Each of the staff encounters is always pleasant. They always have a smile on their face and a quick hello. I always feel very catered to whenever I'm here. It'll definitely be a place. I miss when I leave.

I wouldn't care as much if there was any consistency with when I'm charged and when I'm not. Overall, communication and service could be better. Typically it's pretty slow during lunch M-Th, but when I went on a Friday it was busier, still a great option for lunch if you have an hour.
