I am so excited to have found such a great happy hour sushi spot local to the west metro! Soya's happy hour prices are amazing, especially given the quality of their rolls. Their vegetable roll has coconut flakes on it which makes it unique to other veggie rolls I've had and I really enjoyed that aspect! We were seated right away and the food came out quickly after ordering. Don't overlook this cozy Chanhassen gem!

I haven't been to this place for years because a sushi place across the street is consistently better. However, I gave Soya another shot and I'm glad I did. My side scallops order was nicely cooked and very flavorful. The Tuna Poke was quite small for $18 but the tuna was yummy, the mango chunks and avocado added a nice sweetness, and the raw asparagus surprised me as it was crisp and tender. The chef's special sauce was delicious and I'm embarrassed to say I tipped the takeout container and drank the rest. :D

I've been holding back on writing a review about Soya because it literally is a hidden gem. Was I gatekeeping? Absolutely. You probably would, too. I love this place. It's a cute, small restaurant that, I believe, is family-owned. They are very inviting from the moment you walk in. One of my favorite things about this place is the quality of the fish. Every raw dish features the highest-quality ingredients (the same can be said for fully-cooked dishes). The service is phenomenal. The waitress is the sweetest and knows our regular order by memory at this point. They have an incredible happy hour special most evenings (except for Friday & Saturday) and it's such a great value for the quality! This is the place to come with a group of your friends or family for a delicious lunch or dinner!

We ordered lunch here because Kai was closed that day. We got three roll combo . Two rolls were not good , one was ok. The fish did not taste fresh, the rice was poorly seasoned and not cooked properly. The avocado was old and tasted off.

Worthy of spending my lunch hour to escape the chaotic life at work. Finding peace in an ambient environment to enjoy great food during happy hour, with happy hour specials. Lovely employees being generous with a servant heart. Looking at all the customers roll their eyes back while savoring their sushi and washing it down with a nice cold beer. It brings me to a place of serenity. And you could also say it what brings me back. There's not alot of room for error when eating at a place like this. Whether with a group of friends or by yourself, you will leave feeling wonderful

I've been here several times and the sushi is amazing every time. Definitely a hidden gem. It's my favorite sushi place in the twin cities. Very affordable, huge sushi rolls and they are always so creative and pretty. I love the cream cheese wontons here as well!

Not too busy during the week for lunch. This is located on W 79th street. There isn't too many spots for parking so if it is busy, the pickup option might be a great route as there are pickup only spots for quick parking. Online orders normally take 15-30 minutes. Everytime I have went to pick up my order, it has been ready and waiting. Great layout inside, lots of seating, and professional staff. Pickup orders are packed neatly and in an easy to carry bag. They have a lunch special during the week for any 2 rolls for $10 and any 3 rolls for $13. Great value as you get a side salad or miso soup included! They also have a large variety of menu items to choose from and everything seems reasonably priced. I am a fan of their lunch specials as it is very easy to order online and pickup. They also have Special Bento Boxes that I look forward to trying as those are perfect for lunch.

Came here to eat a variety of Japanese food for really picky people. My in-laws love fish but hate sushi, my wife hates fish period, while my daughters and I love sushi ... got it? So wife, older daughter and in-laws all got hibachi steak of different varieties and loved it. The only downside would be they do not cook it in front of you like say Benihana's, but hey, this place is much closer. Younger daughter and I got sushi platters. She got the Hot Mama roll. We warned her to order two rolls because she is a sushi and rice freak, able to wolf down copious amounts of both that would put a pro wrestler to shame ... so she wolfed it down and was still hungry. We were in a hurry and did not have time to wait for another... but she says five stars for the one. I got the Trio Color Sushi. Huge. Very good. Great assortment of fish, high quality and nicely portioned slabs of fish. The wasabi was not overpowering, but it could have been stronger. I used all of it at once and did not have that momentary scalp peeling back sensation the strong stuff has. I was completely full with three pieces left but forced myself to eat them. I should have given my daughter the three pieces, but was not irritated she did not order two rolls like I told her. As for the decor, there was plenty of open seating. We sat in the back booth. Waitress was attentive but not overly so. They do have some interesting sushi options that makes me want to come back, like the peanut avocado roll or the Trio Spicy. They also have a happy hour, but I went for the combo platter. The HH prices are good if you get multiple rolls. So ... great Japanese food for everyone, decent portions, fair price, great service, local and nice decor. A definite return visit is in order. I should add that my 19-year old daughter eats here all the time.

Decided to try this place out rather then going to Kais or Jungle Kitchen. It's ticked away in a strip mall behind Chik-Fil-A. Was promptly greeted and seated with a fair number of patrons at 7:30pm on a Friday. Waiter promptly took our drink order, Ramune, Thai Iced Tea, and plain iced tea. Ordered Gyoza as an appetizer and they we good, daughter was hungry so she ate 4 of the 6 in the order. Entrees were Chicken Fried Rice (daughter's favorite dish, she is somewhat of a conisour), Basil Chicken Fried Rice, and a Hibachi Chicken Dinner. The rice entrees came out first, mine was about 5 minutes behind (not horrible but most places will bring all at once). The food was proper temp and all were nicely flavored (didn't need to add salt or soy sauce). Overall food was on par with Jungle Kitchen, Kais is a bit better. We finished off the meal with Tempura Cheesecake which was very tasty. So why 3 instead of 4 stars? Some service items. We had asked for a fork for my daughter, never got it so it's good she is decent with chop sticks. Finished my Thai Iced tea and wasn't asked if I wanted another or something else. Check was brought before we received our desert which we asked for rather then being asked if we wanted anything for desert. As a Resturant I would think they would want to try and offer you desert or after dinner drinks. So will I be back? Yeah I'll probably come back but nothing to go out of your way for. Good for me they had a 15% off coupon so didn't seem too expensive.

I've ordered here 15+ times over covid and every time has been perfect. They've never messed up my order and are always on time. Low prices too. The sushi is phenomenal!!! My all time favorite spot!!

Who would think that a great sushi restaurant could exist in Chanhassen, MN. But this is it. Forget the places in Excelsior. Go to Soya.

New manager Aaron is bringing it back to being a five star dining experience. It's taken a few years to bounce back but bounced back it has. Manager Aaron knows the industry and is brining it to Eden Prairie. Thank you. Today we enjoyed the potstickers, macadamia crusted chicken meal. Don't miss the Asian salad and amazing desserts. If you're a sushi fan - dig in. Our server, Zander, made a good experience even better with his smile and high energy. By the way, their weekday lunchtime specials are phenomenal. Now, if only they'd bring back the meatloaf entree. Fits Midwestern appetites. Haven't had it on the menu in years. Just a thought.

I had high hopes for Kona Grill, but it was a failure for so many reasons…read more Kona strikes me as very Instragramable, but lacking in substance. I had a birthday reward club gift certificate for $50. However, there was bit of a kerfuffle because my phone number was not in their system (only my email address) and it took the waitress and manager some time to get that straightened out (more about that later). My wife ordered from the Happy Hour menu (available until 6 pm) and she had the Chicken Fried Rice ($6), Chicken Satay ($3), and the Potstickers ($9). She also had the Kona Big Wave beer ($3 Happy Hour price). These are pretty good prices (her beer was less than my soda!).If you look at the photos, you will notice that the dishes are well presented and look great (very Instragramable). However, I wish they tasted as good as it looked. According to her, the chicken satay was a small portion and was dry as shoe leather. The potstickers were "OK" and the fried rice was overly salty. Her overall comment was "Mid, not much flavor, too salty, too dry." One bright spot was that the Kona Beer was fresh and crisp. I ordered the Sweet-Chili Glazed Salmon which comes with fried rice ($37) as well as the Happy Hour Spicy Shrimp Tempura ($9). The salmon, although flakey, was overcooked, dry and surprisingly bland despite the Chili Graze. To me, it tasted like school cafeteria fish and the only seasoning I tasted was salt -- lots of salt. The fried rice was mushy and tasted like Uncle Bens Instant Rice. It was not well prepared. The tempura shrimp were plentiful and look good in my photo, but they were terrible. The "tempura" batter tasted like they had been over-dipped in flour (tempura should be a very light coating), and there was absolutely no crispiness at all. They also were bland, and hardly edible. The bill at the end did not include any discount for my birthday certificate (despite all of the kerfuffle with the manager) and I was double-charged for my soda, so both of those issues had to be corrected. To add insult to injury, Open Table informed me that the restaurant said that I was a no-show and I had to explain to Open Table that we indeed showed up and ate there at the exact time of the reservation. Kona strikes me as one of those places that is good for groups and perhaps people who like places and food that look good, but are less concerned about how it tastes. Kona Grill is owned by the same company that owns Benihana. There are a lot of similarities, except that the quality of food is generally better at Benihana and there is no smoking volcano.
