    Chicken Katsu Sandwich

I've been here twice and each time the food has been really good! The drinks are tropical and delicious. The Poke Stack is SO good and fresh, and comes with a generous amount of creamy avocado. The chicken katsu sandwich comes with a massive piece of chicken with crispy breading. The furikake cornbread is excellent -- well balanced between savory and sweet, and a generous portion. They take reservations and there is a large parking lot.

Our dishes were incredible and so flavorful! We had a slight mixup with how the menu was written (which they are changing) and our server + the kitchen were so kind in making it right for us. We didn't realize they had an indoor patio and it was perfect with the breeze! Great experience.

We have visited Pau Hana a few times now. The service is always great and the food is always spectacular. We love coming here when we want to eat like we are on vacation. It's a nice open floor with high tops, bar area seating, and half booth style tables. They also have a big heated patio area. The way to go is getting the Coconut Shrimp Loco Moco- it's double the shrimp and you will definitely have left overs (if you get an app). The Shoyu Short Rib Loco Moco was great as well! We shared the Miso Caesar salad and it was delicious! It was nice and cold so the salad had a nice crunch to it.

We stopped by for restaurant week. The menu was limited but that was okay since we didn't have anything specific in mind. Service was great minus the wait. It took 20 minutes to bring out our dessert. Overall, clean restaurant and restrooms, food was delicious. Wait time is a tad long if you're looking for a quick bite.

Been many times & this trip didn't disappoint! Great service, amazing food & love sitting in the indoor/outdoor porch with great decor! Thanks & can't wait to go back soon

We sat in the lanai in the back. Inside has an upscale island vibe (definitely not tiki though). It was pretty quiet on a Sunday evening. We tried the wonton chicken pizza, loco moco, and the chimichurri steak. The wonton chicken pizza was good but it tasted like a regular wood-fired pizza. I really wanted to taste the teriyaki chicken but it was lacking in the amount of chicken and the wontons just added extra crunch. We enjoyed our next entrees. The loco moco had a really good curry sauce that paired well with the crunchy shrimp and chicken. The steak was perfectly cooked to order and had a slightly spicy chimichurri. The smashed fingerlings that came with it were so good! I felt that everything was way overpriced here. For the location and vibes, prices could be lower. For the current prices I felt that I should be eating somewhere fancy and upscale.

What a fun and aesthetically pleasing spot! My friend and I decided to check this place out and really enjoyed the experience. The service was excellent--every server we interacted with was attentive, and anyone passing by was quick to refill water or clear plates whenever it was needed. The drinks were great, and I appreciated that the menu included a variety of mocktail options as well. Everything felt thoughtfully curated, from the atmosphere to the beverage selection. One standout for me was the gluten-free crust--it's easily one of the best I've had in the Twin Cities area. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Knock off another dish from my list of foods to try and add a new favorite pizza place. I have been interested in trying Loco Moco for a while now. What's not to like? Rice, an egg, protein and gravy. That's got be good. Pau Hana offers a few different varieties of Loco Moco. Traditional I believe is the beef patty. They also offer Ahi,Chicken Katsu. Coconut Shrimp and what I selected, Beef Short Rib. The short ribs were cooked perfectly and were fall apart tender. Pau Hana serves their Loco Moco with a curry flavored sauce. This worked well as the sauce was creamy and slightly sweet. This balanced the savory of the short rib and the egg. There were also 4 coconut shrimp. Talk about surf and turf! This was my kind of meal. My wife got their Kuristown plate. This easily was enough food for two people! The Kuristown came with Teriyaki and Chicken Katsu. The Teriyaki was grilled, smokey and juicy. The Katsu, lighty crispy and also juicy. This came with rice and really creamy Hawaiian Mac Salad. We also tried their Kabayaki Smoked Wings. While the wings were good sized wings, we didn't get a lot of smoke flavor. Decent wings. The game changer was their pizzas. We decided to order a couple of pizzas to go so we would have meals for a couple of days. We ordered the Wonton Chicken and Show You. The Wonton Chicken had teriyaki chicken with crispy wonton strips. So good. the Sho You had braised short ribs with pickled onions. Wow, also excellent. As much as we enjoyed our dishes, the pizza's may have been even better. There are even more pizzas on their menu that look very tasty. For dessert we ordered a piece of their Haupia pie. Really good pie. Toasted coconut with chocolate cream, topped with candied nuts. Not overly sweet. If you like coconut pie at all, you have to try this. Really enjoyed our Hawaiin meal and also found a new favorite place to order some pizzas!

Gorgeous Cocktails & Hawaiian Vibes in Savage! If you're looking for a fun, tropical escape without hopping on a plane, Pau Hana is the perfect spot--especially for a girls night out! Yes, it's a bit of a drive out to Savage, but totally worth it once you step inside. My friends and I had a "Muumuus & Mai Tais" themed outing here and had an amazing time! The ambiance gives serious luxury beach resort vibes--think rattan light fixtures, tropical murals, and a warm, welcoming energy. Service was excellent: super friendly, attentive, and helpful with recommendations. Cocktails (A+) Signature Margarita (5/5) - Bright citrusy flavor with a touch of sweetness, plus a gorgeous edible flower on top. Loved it! Mai Tai (5/5) - A perfectly balanced classic with pineapple and rum, garnished with a pineapple leaf. Tropical perfection. Food Highlights Brussels Sprouts (4/5) - Nicely crisped and seasoned with a tasty gochujang glaze. Poke Nachos (4/5) - Wonton chips were great, but the poke tuna was a bit on the chewy side. Hoisin Glazed Ribs (5/5) - So flavorful and tender. Perfect if you're extra hungry and craving something bold. Crab-Crusted Opakapaka (5/5) - Light, slightly sweet, and paired with a nutty white wine broth--beautifully done! Ginger Scallion Tofu (2/5) - Unfortunately too bland for my taste; would've loved a punchier vinaigrette. Ube Panna Cotta (3/5) - Loved the crunchy coconut topping; mango compote was just okay. Passionfruit Semifreddo (4/5) - The rhubarb sauce and chocolate crumb combo really worked. This is a fun, festive spot with a well-curated menu and Instagram-worthy cocktails. Definitely recommend for groups, birthdays, or themed nights out--just be ready for a little road trip to get there!

Downtown quality restaurant in the south suburbs! Great place to take a date or impress out of town visitors. The Loco Moco was clearly our table's favorite. While inspired by the Hawaiian dish; it's more of Hawaiian fusion & inspiration than authentic. Fries themselves were basic, but the dips were delicious. Pizza was a crowd pleaser as well, and a good option for pickier eaters who want a "safe" dish

We have been meaning to try Pau Hana for quite some time and we finally did tonight and it was wonderful. Our server, Andrew, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and made perfect recommendations. I got the Poke Bowl and it was fresh and delicious. My husband got the Loco Moco, savory and also delicious. We sat on the lanai and it was toasty warm even in the dead of winter. Can't wait to return to try other menu items.

    Big eye tuna Poke Tostada
    Jennifer S.

Made a reservation during the fall restaurant week to check out Pau Hana. I order the big eye tuna poke tostada, surf and turf, and pumpkin haupia tart -- all really good! The tostada was super fresh and had the perfect crunch. The surf and turf had a grilled swordfish and Kabayaki pork belly -- each portion of meat was flavorful and cooked nicely. To finish the pumpkin tart was such a nice surprise -- creamy, not too sweet, and full of cozy fall flavor. Service was great and the staff were super attentive! Overall, a great meal, nice atmosphere to get together with others!

Food was absolutely delicious!! Gave 4 stars because the food took a while to come out. Our waiter was fabulous and was very happy! We had a big group but he didn't mind us taking our time leaving even after they closed. The place is very spacious and I had no problem getting a reservation for a large group. Will definitely go back and order the poke stack!! Chicken katsu had a very nice crunch but a little too crunchy for my liking.

Kai pizza. A loaded pepperoni pizza with pickled fresh jalapeños and some charred pineapple (needed more)

I imagine it would be really nice in the spring/summer as there is a horse track right outside of the restaurant which would provide a great view to a race. It definitely got a little loud just sitting inside They had a large variety of options to choose from on the menu. They also offered a great and surprisingly extensive Happy Hour Menu which we got there in time to take advantage of.  We got the burger and thought it was very tasty, we love a good caramelized onion. I thought it definitely needed some ketchup to balance out the heaviness of the onions and cheese with a little bright acidity. I also thought the patties themselves were very good, thin with a slight crisp to them with a soft bun and melty sauces and cheese. Since it was a happy hour option the burger did not come with any sides like it would have as an entrée. We also got fish tacos and we were a big fan of the slaw and pineapple mayo which brought a balance of sweet and savory to the dish. Only came with two tacos (at least for happy hour) which might not be enough food if you're hungry. The hot smoked salmon was one of the more unique items we tried. The salmon itself was super tasty - salty and smoky just what you want. They use the smaller scraps of salmon that wouldn't work in their Wood-Fired King Salmon entrée and incorporate it into this appetizer which is great sustainability-wise! The salmon came with a creamy ricotta, salty capers, crunchy crostini, and sweet and acidic pickled red onions. We liked this combination a lot but felt it could have used even more sweetness/acidity, maybe just adding a couple more onions to the dish. We really enjoyed the 'Garganelli' pasta dish. It was creamy and indulgent with pieces of lobster and freshly shaved parmesan on top. The chili added a really nice layer of heat but wasn't overpowering. The server was nice enough to split up everything we had over the evening to share (which explains the two small portions in the photo). MN Mule - 8/10 Pretty average but solid mule. However, it was served in a plastic spam cup which elevated the whole experience. Margarita - 9/10 Very good margarita - we were told it was a house made margarita not from a mix. Very bright and fresh flavors that definitely let the tequila shine. Overall would definitely recommend!

We went back today and while it was still good, definitely wasn't as good as it was last time. The jerk chicken plate removed the beans, changed the rice, and got rid of the sauce so it wasn't as good though it was a bit less dry than last time. They also removed the Ropa Vieja from the menu which was our favorite. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and was not impressed. The fries with it were good. The drinks were still great. Service was friendly but slow (drinks, food, and waitress all slow). Another in our party got the blackened salmon which was really good. Unfortunately, I was so nervous they would remove or change the menu to be worse, which is a common theme I've noticed with 4 different restaurants by these owners now, so I was so bummed to see that's exactly what happened. Such a cool vibe, great drinks, and a really cool new patio - but the food needs a bit of work - bring back the Ropa Vieja and the better jerk chicken!
