went here for a late birthday meal. staff are super friendly and helpful. restaurant is clean and so are the bathrooms. we had five rolls as well as some fried soft shell crab and fried dumplings. i loved the dumplings - filled with beef and veggies. we sipped on some sake and green tea. pleasant evening and a nice place. well done :)

Great experience! We went for an early Valentines dinner and were pleased to find the sushi fresh and delicious! This was our first visit and we will definitely go back. We settled on sharing the shrimp tempura and gyozi for appetizers, and let me tell you what, that shrimp tempura!!! The batter was so light and delicious--I could shower in that stuff!! I had the seaweed salad that was ok, just a little bland, needed something to make it pop. The miso soup and salad came with our order and we're both the standard, what I feel like every miso soup and salad w ginger dressing tastes like, and I'm ok w that. The sushi was delicious; fresh, flavorful; great presentation in the sushi boat! We will definitely go back, and have already recommended our friends try it.

Walked in around 1230 & was told to have a seat wherever we liked. Unsure if there are 2 separate menus for lunch and dinner. Separated into 2 rooms. Opposite door seats kbbq&/or hibachi. Ginger tea was absolutely delicious. Strips of ginger covered the bottom of the mug! Food came out in no time & was HOT I want to go back and try another table's dish! It was in stone pots & BOILING

So... our friends picked this spot out for our chow down get together. It's definitely a fairly nice setting. One side is a dining area where the sushi chefs are in full view preparing the rolls, nigiri and sashime. The other side is the tables with the cook top set for KBBQ if needed be. Their menu was pretty basic. We picked out some things to share and eat. So here goes. Gyoza: Looked pretty simple with no pleat work. So immediately my mind starts thinking it came from a box. Tastes pretty meh, the sauce was interesting tho. One gyoza was a little burnt. Salmon Cheek: Broiled salmon collar, but not quite. It's more of the back side of the collar right by the under fins. You get a good amount of fish belly meat, but the sauce was way too much. Some might like that, I prefer my fish not smothered. Just some salt and pepper. Seaweed Salad: Can't go wrong with this. But these are surely came out of a baggie bag. But then again, all seaweed salads do come out of a bag bag. Sushi Rolls: I knew what I got, but didn't quite remember all the other ones my colleague and husband ordered. But they we all just ok. Didn't quite wowed me with the taste. Plus my spider roll was somewhat off. Ice Cream Tempura: It's pretty good,,, a lot of breading, but certainly very pleasing to the eye. Fried Bananas: Yes!!! This is a desert I can definitely recommend getting here. It's superb! The service was pretty good. Even though they got slammed because no restaurant ever expects to get a major rush on a Tuesday. But they did actually do a good job keeping up with the orders and such. This place is alright. It's not bad, but not actually the best either. Hence 3 stars. Was in the mood for carry out today. Ordered Japchae and Spicy Cali Roll. The prices here are a bit more expensive than other Jap/Kor restaurants around IMO but they're good and fresh, and they definitely don't skimp out on the meat or veggies.I've tried many things on their menu before. I've ordered Japchae before and wasn't a big fan. Gave it another shot and enjoyed it. Not overly salty and had a nice mixture of meat and veggies. Portion was good. The Sushi seems a bit smaller but it was fresh. Cravings satisfied! I had to drive pass 2 Jap/Kor restaurants to come here; worth it though. I've always had great services here. I like that they great you with a smile and they seem easy going. Relaxing ambiance, very clean inside. Wish I lived closer but I don't mind the drive.

I adored this sushi/hibachi spot, it's in a strip mall with the Buffalo Wild Wings Arena but very visible. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. Food came out quickly and didn't disappoint! Portions were big, the rolls were good sized, the nigiri had a touch of wasabi on the rice, and the hot green tea was made to order. I ordered the octopus salad, it was very tender and not overly sweet. I also ordered the Sushi Dinner. The rolls were thick and the nigiri didn't have too much rice as a filler, they don't skimp on the fish. The room is a little dark but cozy. It looked like the regulars were all very local and knew everyone working at the restaurant. I would totally come back when back in the area.

Our server was so nice and the food was great. We had a couple of different rolls and they made a side of fried rice for my daughter. We will definitely be back.

This was our first time here and we were very happy with Saporro! We were sat very quickly for a 6:30 dinner in the middle of the week when capacity was at 25%. The menu has something for everyone. The sushi offerings are varied and there was a ton to choose from. We stuck with the traditional rolls, Spicy Tuna (Spicy!), Rainbow roll, BBQ Eel roll, and Philly roll. They also offer Korean BBQ. We ordered the beef short ribs with rice. The BBQ was served very quickly.. The ribs were tender and very flavorful. The sushi was fresh and tasty. The rolls were small, but very good. The overall service was excellent! The restaurant us set up to easily social distance. The tables in the side room allow for patrons to BBQ their own entrees at their table, but not during COVID. We will be back!

As a massive Otaku I've been looking for new Japanese places to try in the area and was pleasantly surprised with this one. My mom and I stopped in the other day and were immediately impressed with the hospitality of the employees and servers. They made us feel at home and the general ambiance of the restaurant does feel like you're in a restaurant in Tokyo or seoul. We ordered the yakisoba and it was definitely the best I've had in Michigan. My only complaint with the food was that the menu states they have chicken Karage, which is the reason I came here in the first place, but the Karaage they have on the menu is actually a chicken Katsu. Katsu being breaded chicken and Karaage being deep fried chicken similar to chick fil a nuggets. Because of that bit of false advertising I can't get full marks, lol. But if you want Japanese food or Korean food you will generally not be disappointed here. Place is ran by really friendly Korean people who are actually from korea.

Piston roll on the right. It was a bland and they added on top that green wasabi sauce or whatever it was and it was super spicy and gross. It was so spicy that I couldn't even eat it even after scraping it off because it got into the roll. It didn't even mention anything about it in the menu only that it had spicy crab salad which I normally like. The roll on the left was my brothers and he said that it was not good and that he would not come back. The teriyaki udon noodles were bland and the chicken was very dry. I will say the noodles were cooked perfectly. The waitress was very nice though. The inside of the restaurant was bigger than I thought it would be which was nice so we didn't feel crowed.

Be patient if you plan to dine in, they are severely understaffed. The food this time wasn't as good as the last time I was in here and we waited a good amount of time just to get the menu and give our order. Despite that, when the bill came, we were charged for items we didn't receive but ordered. It was quickly resolved when we told our server. The servers are kind and the establishment is clean. I think I will order takeout here the next time because they were prioritized.

I went to Sapporo for the first time just as an off the whim decision and it was delicious! There were lots of people waiting when we first got there, but we were seated extremely fast as long as the rest of the guests. The staff was very friendly and did a good job of serving the big crowd of guests that came in at once. We shared 4 rolls and they were all super tasty. Some of the sushi was different than anything I've had before, like The Big Beaver, which had coconut and mango. The other 3 rolls we had were pretty standard but had lots of flavor! The menu had a good variety of the standard and specialty rolls. Prices were pretty average compared to other sushi places. I definitely am planning to come back and try some more items on the menu!

This our favorite sushi restaurant in all of Metro Detroit and for so many reasons... the food is outstanding, the service-top notch (ask for Tiffany) and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. They also offer some of my favorite Korean dishes as well--delicious!!!! read more

This place is a great go to sushi place. It is very appetizing and filling for their portions. The only reason I would give it a 4 is because the spicy rolls are clearly marked on their menu. The roll I got was not supposed to be spicy, but ended up having a pretty good kick to it. If you're avoiding spicy food like me I would recommend confirming with the staff before ordering the rolls. Overall tho, it was a great experience, awesome atmosphere, and nice staff. read more

Sapporo Sushi. Absolutely amazing. I am a big fan of sushi and have tried all top spots around Detroit Michigan, Sapporo is hands down my favorite. Very comfortable environment, very clean and elegant with proper service. The staff is very welcoming and take care of you beyond the expectations especially when compared to other sushi spots. My family and I came here to celebrate birthdays and the experience was fantastic. The service was quick and very attentive. The menu was eclectic - we tried a variety of dishes including the Korean short ribs, udon, and sushi, which were all delicious and nicely presented. The Ahi Tower was probably our favorite dish. Not to mention, the staff surprised us with Birthday desserts to share. Definitely recommend visiting Sapporo! read more

Disgusting. Just disgusting and probably the worst quality sushi I have ever had . Fish tasted rubber and straight out the freezer. For some odd reason the rolls were covered in black pepper, which gave it a funky and unpleasant taste. I am a big sushi fan and have it on a regular basis maybe twice a week. I will never be coming back here again. read more

This is a good local sushi place. The inside is very clean and new, and the staff there is always very kind. I've been here a few times and one thing I can suggest is the TROPICAL ROLL. It may sound weird, but it is so refreshing. Tempura banana at the end is a great dessert as well. read more

My favorite sushi place. Great owners, employees and great tempura sushi for those who say they do not eat cold sushi. Their miso soup is awesome. They also have many vegetarian & vegan options. They also have great music playing and you can see the chef making the sushi at the bar. Also have Korean style BBQ. They expanded before COVID so please support them as with the businesses working from home they lost their business lunch hour customers. My fave is the Tempura Ebi. read more

This place is delicious! I had the chicken bibumbap in the hot stone pot, which was very authentic and had the crisped rice at the bottom (you have to let it sit in the pot for a while for the rice to crisp up- my favorite part). My husband had the chicken yakiudon which he loved too. The noodles were springy and chewy in a great way (not soggy or overcooked), and the flavors were good. The chicken in both dishes were trimmed white meat with no grisly tendon pieces. I will definitely be back next time I am in town! The service was attentive, fast and friendly. read more

Walking into Sapporo I loved the atmosphere, updated clean & modern. Miso soup and ginger salad were complimentary and delicious! We asked our waitress if they had angry edamame and she said they don't but she made it for us, and it was great! Our sushi order was deep fried Fusion, sapporo special, super nova, super dragon, and Cajun volcano ( super spicy). Everything was delicious and our waitress was very knowledgeable. I rarely leave reviews but this place was fantastic. Both the sushi and the service was phenomenal. Not only the waitress but the sushi chef also came by at one point to make sure everything was satisfactory. The sushi was beautifully presented and tasted delicious as well. Really amazing in every regard. Food was amazing, seriously some of the best sushi. We tried their spring rolls and gyoza as appetizers. They offer complimentary miso soup and ginger salads. We tried the big beaver, salmon on the beach, cool breeze and Philadelphia rolls. All so fresh and tasty. Loved the unique flavors. They then surprised us with free dessert, a fried banana, which had cinnamon and Carmel on top. So amazing! Nicest staff and great service as well. read more

Went here last week for a business lunch. Reading the reviews, seemed like a viable option for a couple guys who love sushi. Man was I wrong. The staff is nice and cordial, I'll say that. We shared several rolls one of which was spicy scallop, which has ZERO scallop in it. They apparently mix "crunch" with grounded scallop...a complete rip off and something I've never seen done, anywhere. The eel roll was equally as bad. Within the 6 pieces was a slight sliver of eel skin. If you're looking for decent rice, dressed up like a sushi roll, this is your place. Their margins have to be 99% on rolls. read more

Disappointing experience . Missing items with my carryout order, slow service when arriving for pickup, had to flag someone down after a few minutes just to cash out. Sushi is decent but by no means anything special that you can't get elsewhere. Price is higher than other local sushi places. Overall thumbs down. Won't be back. read more

Awesome food! I loved the atmosphere and presentation of the food. Super friendly staff. My 3 and 5 year old loved going and experiencing something new for them. The waitress was so sweet and even gave them chopstick helpers! After all the delicious food, we enjoyed some deep fried ice cream! Definitely recommend it. We have made this our regular Sushi spot! Tiffany was our waitress and she was so helpful and offered great service. read more

Sapporo Sushi is 'Supremo'! Visited Sapporo's on an early Friday evening. Walking in, we were greeted warmly by a young lady who spoke perfect English. We chose to sit at the Sushi bar. Having been to Japan, it had great authentic décor. We watched our Sushi chef prepare the most delicious Sushi! They do not have their alcohol license yet, so we ordered green tea. I chose the Ginger Green Tea, which I would recommend highly. They also have Korean dishes to pick from also. We had at least 6 different types of Sushi, an Udon noodle dish, started out with soup and salad and for a finish...fried banana and cut orange sections to cleanse the palate. The owner came by and welcomed us to his restaurant. A very nice gesture. He is very proud to feed his guests. We had a wonderful experience and we will definitely go back. If you want authentic Sushi with wonderful staff and ambience you need to try Sapporo Sushi! read more

4 stars for service and 2 for sushi. The sushi did not taste fresh and the seaweed was tougher than usual. We had ordered, 2 uni, a salmon roll, a yellowtail roll, and a spider roll. I'm always on the hunt to try new sushi restaurants and hopefully discover the perfect balance of freshness, taste, service, and pricing. Have you ever eaten at a place where the service was actually good, but the food left you kinda wishing you had something else to wash the taste away? The fish was too fishy, on the edge of old, and on par with the ones you buy in a clear tray in the supermarket. This was a definite miss for me, unfortunately. read more

I have had lunch here twice. They have a nice special from 11-3pm. It is up there with the the best sushi in the area. Service was excellent and each time I got a combo meal it came with miso soup and salad. Nice owner or manager came over each time check how I liked things and did it in way I could tell he really cared and was not going through the motions. Would like to try for dinner but after my two visits I highly recommend read more

Long awaited was the opening of Sapporo Sushi Japanese Restaurant! Former founders which created the award-winning Asahi of Clinton Township, left it to bring us the finest Sushi bar in Michigan. From the ahi tower to the Korean dishes (galbi, bulgogi), we loved our meal here today. With the complementary salad and miso soup, even a light sushi lunch feels like an occasion.
