Although I wouldn't call the food here unbelievable or anything like that, this place does do pretty well overall, although for us there were some things that were better than others. Let's start with the least favorite, and that was my spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs themselves were great, tasty and not too dense, but the tomato sauce had zero sweetness to it, and there was very little of it -- so the dish wound up tasting more like just meatballs with some bare spaghetti. The waiter never came back to ask me what I thought of it, or I would have returned it for something else. I wouldn't recommend this dish, however at another restaurant in French Canada we sampled a pasta with red sauce that was similar in makeup (unsweet red sauce and very little of it), so this may be a regional thing. Therefore if you're from the region you might rave about it with high praise... In contrast, my wife's pasta was really good, maybe a 4 or 4.5 out of 5 stars. She had the farfalle with sun dried tomatoes, etc., in a cream sauce. I would order that again myself. The French Onion Soup was indeed excellent, as some other reviewers have mentioned. Tasty broth. LOTS of cheese though, FYI. That may be your thing, and if it is you'll be in heaven. The salad we had was also very good. I should also add that the outdoor terrace dining area behind the restaurant was lovely and very enjoyable. So overall Sapristi rates 4-stars, as the good points overcame a lot of the disappointment with my main dish. Note also that Sapristi may be some sort of chain restaurant, as there is another Sapristi about a mile away, closer to the river. Oddly, it has a slightly better composite rating than this Sapristi. Sapristi is a very solid choice if you are looking for a satisfying Italian meal. The food was incredible. We were all very happy with our meals. The ambience was also very inviting inside and there is a decent amount of outdoor seating. Overall, we had a really good dinner and a nice evening sitting outside on the patio enjoying our meals and wine. Tip: My family are huge fans of Italian food...we could eat it almost every time we go out to dinner. We came here as a group of 10+ after a conference to grab dinner. Majority wanted Italian food so this was the closest spot open. The place was busy and the menu interesting. I ordered a simple margerita pizza (1/5)-15$ it was overbaked, dry and did not even have fresh buffalo cheese. So, I didn't lose hope, I decided to add some pepper and asked for some chilli oil and parmesan cheese. Both took forever to come- I tried flagging down the server and our waiter several times- both attempts were a complete fail. When I finally did receive it, the parmesan was fresh, the chilly oil was old! It wasn't even spicy -this is coming from a South Asian person who can't even take curry or paprika and I poured the oil all over my pizza- still couldn't back the pizza to life :( I had a slice of my pizza and I couldn't get myself to eat the rest. I washed it down with a really watered down 10$ rendition of a rhum old-fashioned. The bill was affordable -27.50$ for the whole meal, but what is the point for paying for an unfinished meal? Most of my colleagues agreed their pasta dish were also very bland and lacked flavour. Solution: I went to McDonalds and bought myself a chicken nugget happy meal- that made me a happy camper. We had a great night at this restaurant-bar in old Quebec. Never read a review or had anyone refer us there, we were just looking for someplace close to the Marriot and this place was it. We had the charcuterie plate and the Fondue and was not disappointed. Original flavours and sauces plus perfect portions for both. Then ordered the Pork Risotto and I have to say this was the best pork I have ever had. It's a rich dish but cooked to perfection!! Service was upbeat and friendly, we were surprised how fast our food was on the table, it wasn't very busy tho because I think people were at Carnival. I drove into Québec from Montreal and I was starving! Sapristi popped up on Yelp when I searched for food in the area and after reading the reviews decided to try it. I am so happy I did! The decor is very nice, the service was fantastic, and the food is amazing. The servers checked on me frequently and answered any questions I had. The fried were fresh, crispy, and delicious. My pasta was cooked just right and the sauce was delicious. After two drinks, an appetizer, and two pastas the price was $72 Canadian dollars. It seemed very fair and well worth it. We waited around 15 minutes to get our table ready, and the restaurant was a little less crowded due to bad weather. Picked this place out of so many choices in Quebec City after arriving from a long day of travel from Vancouver. The four cheese flatbread at $9 was scrumptious with a perfect crust and satisfied our initial hunger. The lovely K had a glass of white and me a glass of red after an average martini each. The martini itself was good, but the olives lacked that taste of the higher end ones we have at home. We both ordered pasta, me the meatballs and sausage sauce and K the carbonara. Both were very well prepared, a good sized portion and very satisfying. The meatballs are pork and veal which is different than the ones we make at home which have pork and extra lean ground beef, but very nice. We may even have to modify ours at home, that's how good they were. The service was great with all our servers (all four of them) easily speaking English while helping us (mainly K) with our seldom used French. We would heartily recommend this place for the good food, great servers and easy going attitude. We shall return on our next trip to Quebec City which we hope will be sooner rather than later! A quick update: We did end up going back for lunch a couple of days later and we sure we're glad that we did. The pizza that we chose was very good, and the crust exceptional. They even cut it in half for us (The lovely K got the larger half, or so it appeared to me lol) which was a nice touch. What a let down and total frustrating place. Primarily due to 2 things, our waitress who had an attitude when we didn't want to sit around their neighborhood wasp at our table, and then when she moved us she continued with her attitude. Condescending actually... and then sat us in a spot that I had to continually get out of my chair to let people by. Service was slllllooooowwww. Took forever to get our beers and then once we decided we didn't want full out lunch (it was around 2:30 already) it was like the server just ignored us. We had to flag him down for water and he seemed short with us anytime we asked for another drink or ketchup or anything. Pizzas are expensive for being only 10" and above $15. Pastas looked super good, but in 30 degree heat i didn't want to down a pasta. Overall, great little patio for the area since a lot of the other places didn't have one.
