We ventured back for dinner, 6:30, and got seated outside on the back patio right away without a reservation. The flatbread was quite small. More like an appetizer. But good quality ingredients. The salmon pasta was filling and fresh salmon meat, but the dish needed more salt. It was not so creamy, if that's what you're expecting. Real parmesan and none of that cheap powdery stuff on top. Croque monsieur was served with a very large portion of thin match stick fries. Service was kind of frosty - they refused to recommend dishes to me ("Depends on what you like!") - but it was fine and the food was good. I had the olio rigatoni, which was made with very good quality olive oil. There was white a large puddle of oil at the bottom of the dish, though. I was expecting the chorizo to be in chunks but they were chopped up slices. I enjoyed it. The s'mores dip made me SUUUPER happy! It was very simple - a good chocolate, melted in a very hot pan, covered with a layer of small marshmallows, torched to a fragrant, golden crisp. It comes with a stack of graham crackers. The dip is very hot and I burned my tongue despite my best efforts, but it was totally worth it! It says it's for sharing, but sharing is for suckers. I ate mine all by myself! Very good spot for a tasty dinner. I went out of my comfort zone with an asparagus appetizer that included a soft boiled egg. It was very tasty. The hotel concierge said they make a great pizza bit what had caught my eye was the pasta, so I stick with my original choice and was satisfied. It wasn't amazing but very good. We went there for dinner one night for a little Italian comfort food, and we were not disappointed. (Then we went back on our last night in Quebec for the bar and ended up doing shots of Jack Daniel's with the bartender. Much love for Sapristi!) We had arancini and fried mozzarella on different occasions (ate it too fast to photograph), and on the night we ate dinner there, I had classic spaghetti and meatballs. Delicious, and fresh! The hostess didn't speak very good English so it took a couple minutes to get us seated. The food was pretty good. I am used to super authentic italian food, which this isn't. However for what it was, it was good. We got a pasta and a pizza with the bruschetta for appetizers. The service was really slow and took about three hours for us to have our meal from start to end. Started exploring the city and came upon this place right after lunch rush. Took a minute or two to be greeted and we're told to sit wherever we wanted but we had a hard time finding a clean table. No problem, the gentleman who turned out to be our server, cleared a table for us, took our drink order and was a delight. French is of course their first language in Quebec but everyone we encountered in the service industry spoke English to accommodate without hesitation. We spoke high school French or at least tried; which in my travel experiences is usually appreciated by the people of your host city. (French is such a beautiful language - I hope to be further along in my ability soon enough.) Food was terrific. Fast and tasty which was exactly what we wanted. Pizza Margarita was zesty and its light fluffy crust was cooked perfectly, adding the right mix of soft crunch. The Greek salad along with our pizza(s)was delicious! Service was great, the lunch rush got cleaned up right after we sat down and the French windows were opened up on a perfect fall day. An older woman came in and sat at a front table with her book and a glass of wine. I loved it! Such a great image!! It's hard not to be effusive based on the charming service we received and excellent food. It's very simple fare, gourmet semi-flat pizzas and a variety of pasta dishes, but they executed extremely well and with modest flare. There's a kids menu and excellent microbrew in large, larger, and largerish quantities available on top of a middling wine list. But considering we had cranky kids and were there in the middle of the evening rush, the superb and friendly service we had pushed everything over the top and made it quite a delightful place to eat on a night when the infanti were demanding "pizza" and the adults just wanted to chill. I agree with some previous comments... A little too good for two stars, 2.5 for food but the atmosphere and service are quite good, boosting the rating to 3 stars. My husband joked to be careful of stars given by Canadians- they are far too kind and in yelp Canadian ratings should be reduced by a star for American opinions- lol! That being said- we each got a pizza- The americano and the carne- we felt that they were both kind of tasteless, starting with what seemed like prefab frozen crust and tasteless generic bad ingredients: pepperoni was terrible- didn't even want to finish it and I was starving Drinks: The beer selections were good, but I ordered a glass of cotes du Rhone, and either they brought me some cheapo house wine instead, or it was the worst one ever made. Catherine and her crew at this Rue St Jean establishment just inside the fortification to the old city are whipping up outstanding dishes in an atmosphere split into two buildings, one more of a pub, the other chic glass modern with open kitchen, both outstanding options sharing same menus. Service outstanding (ignore off putting hostess who is likely used to beating off line-cutters at this popular establishment), very patient and accommodating with insightful recommendations. The fettuccine de mare in a rosee sauce did not disappoint, loaded with scallops and shrimp plus fresh salmon. "Adult" mac and cheese was a similar hit with a gruyere type cheese, although the flatbread fell short of the regular pizza. As the evening grew into night, the hosts escorted us inside and away from the growing patio chill without the hassle of switching checks or server disputes. We got the Deux Salmon Pasta, 4 Fromages Flat Bread, Sapristi Pasta, Creme Brûlée and an IPA beer plus their house Cabernet Sauvignon. The pastas were incredible! Great place and a good casual atmosphere and good staff who are very friendly, funny, and are able to speak English. The restaurant is bigger than it seems and we sat in the outdoor terrace area which had the perfect climate. All of the pizzas and pastas range around $10-$20 (most being around $15-$16). They have a good variety of pizzas and pastas with many of them having crunchy pine nuts. I had the San Francisco pasta ($16.5) which was a creamy chicken farfalle pasta and the portion was perfect and filling. The only deduction I can think of for this place is the pacing was a TINY TINY bit slow- if the bread arrived on time instead of arriving right before our main meals (with our reminder for them to give us bread), it would have been perfect. :-) read more

I love this place!The food were very delicious, we ordered pizza, French onion soup and the Sapristi pasta. The French fires is my favourite,especially. They cut it very thin, and it's very crisp. I can't say I'm a gastronomist who specializes in Italian cuisine (I have ever only ate at Carmine's in NYC once, and plentiful at Hong Kong restaurants that offered baked spaghetti) but Sapristi is by far the best Italian restaurant I have ever experienced. I am blessed to have eaten here. Came with a group of friends for a late lunch while visiting Quebec. We also had a small pomeranian with us who was in a carrier and the restaurant was accommodating, showing us to their small outdoor seating area (gorgeous by the way, with plenty of shade). Waiter was friendly, offered beverages and took our orders in a timely manner with a smile. There were many dishes to choose from on the menu. After a moment of meticulously narrowing down the options, I ordered the Spagh Pollo dish. Friends ordered the Deux Salmon, Sapristi, Arancini, and a couple of drinks. The dishes took a while to be served as expected (there were five of us), but the flavor and texture did not disappoint. Don't let the size of the plate fool you. It makes the meal look small but the food was satiating. The chicken meat was so tender and smooth that it required no chew at all. Spaghetti pasta was perfectly al dente, tossed in a very light oil that was not greasy or heavy on the palette. I was not feeling chicken at all before I decided on this dish but the ingredients complemented each other very well, making my choice unregrettable and absolutely unforgettable! My friends were also very happy with their meals. A bit expensive but will come back if I am ever in Quebec again! read more

I had the salmon pasta and you can taste the smokiness in the salmon. My friends were a little cautious eating Italian food because of the first night we ate Italian food at another restaurant and they didn't like it. In the end, they were glad we came because they all thought the food was great. There was ample seating and service was quick and nice. The restaurant is near a shopping street which is a plus so after a meal you can always walk down the street exploring the shops. The restaurant is also right across the street from the fortifications of Québec and there is a parking lot nearby. The meal costed around $20usd per person which I think was worth it. read more

Such a great dining experience here in Quebec City!!!! Oh my word, the night was so perfect (and extremely delicious) that I forgot to take pictures but hopefully this review helps put it together for you all. In the old Quebec area, you'd think you're in Europe, the restaurant is located on a quaint street and when you walk in you get the notion that you've been transported to a different world, very clean and modern look which plays well as a surprise coming from the outside where the streets and the town still hold its historic face. The menu gives you an array of appetizers, pastas, pizza etc. My guest and I share a bottle of wine while we played "catch up" and not once did we feel rushed to figure what we wanted to get from the menu which I think added to our whole dining experience there. I had this dish called the "Duck" and my word was it heaven! It's this duck confit with mushrooms, penne and some other yummy goodness (and as I'm writing this, I'm salivating!!). We really thought that we were bold enough to go for dessert with them but after each of our main course, we could only muster up the strength (for good reason) for a cup of coffee, the ambience made us want to stay and milk this experience as much as possible since they close around 10:30pm most night (but 11:30 the night we went). If you ever find yourself in Quebec City and want to have an amazing meal please please please make a reservation at Sapristi, grab a friend or two and go enjoy a nice home cooked meal with an amazing culinary twist to it.
