I went to several wedding shops in the Chicagoland area and didn't find anything that felt right. On a whim I went to Sara Grace while visiting my Mom. I had some medical issues that made me gain weight so I couldn't fit into the sample dress. I talked my Mom into trying it on so I could see it on a person. She looked gorgeous in it. Caitlyn and Gail were so patient as we worked through the sizing issues and pick out a veil. They were so accommodating to my schedule when I came into town. We special ordered beading for my Sophia Tolle dress and it worked out perfectly. Kay, the seamstress was great as well. She took in the bodice, resewed the hem and added the extra beading. My dress drapes so it wasn't as easy as just sewing the hem. She had to dismantle my dress draping, sew it and then retact it. We added the extra beading to the rear bottom area and to the front bodice area. My mom found her dress in the suburbs but it wasn't realistic to go there for fittings when I was coming to Rockford for mine. Caitlyn ordered her dress as well. Kay also did her alterations. The day I found my dress, my grandma was also with me. She fell in love with a dress however it was out of her budget so she walked away. From April 2016-November she was still talking about the dress. Mom and I knew she needed it. So with the help of Gail and Caitlyn, we purchased it with their 12 Days of Christmas sale and surprised my grandma for Christmas. She looked absolutely gorgeous in her dress. Like my Mom and I, Kay also altered this dress. If I need a special occasion dress, I will be back. read more

Just for you ROCKFORD people out there. This business was sold and is no longer owned by Sara Grace. For those of us who shopped at Sara Grace for all those years, it's a very sad ending to a wonderful local place. The new owner is less than responsive and almost rude. She states she is an attorney and understands the legal obligations of her company. So, the $100 credit I had from Sara Grace dating back sometime ago... Which I was told would never expire, she will not honor because she is not legally obligated to do so. She states that she only bought the assets not the debt. How convenient. If I was a mother of a bride, I would not do business with this sort. Just to soon as you have a problem with one of your dresses I would not feel confident that she would support or make Right anything. We always support local business as well as Edgebrook but this company will not be one I would ever recommend or shop at. read more

0.9 Terrible terrible experience. My daughter had to buy a bridesmaid dress here for her cousin's wedding. First...after measurement, they ordered the dress at least one size too big. Had to be taken in in both the bust and hips...then the worst was that there was material caught in the zipper when the zipper was sewn in during manufacturing. Sara Grace would not stand by the product. Costs her over $100 for alterations. She lives in Chicago and all they kept saying was she should've brought the dress back. This was impossible because of geographic location and because the dresses did not come in in time. They were extremely RUDE to her. Worst customer service i have heard of in a long time. My friend and I went in last Saturday looking for a wedding dress for her. Upon entering the store no one acknowledged that we even came in. There were a few women by the fitting room that watched us walk around. We were looking around at the dresses and most of them have no prices. We were there for about 10 minutes before we left. Absolutely horrible customer service. No one said a word to us. I'm not sure how they expect to stay in business if they treat potential customers this way. read more

I bought my wedding dress black friday of 2016. Kay did my alterations. She's deserving of the stars here, not Gail or any of the other ladies. My dress buying experience was fine. Everything was on time and like it should have been. The service though? Awful! I felt like I did not belong in this shop. Like these were the ladies who talked badly about you the moment you left. If you're going to be working with brides, maybe brush up on your social skills. Expensive, cold and just meh. I'm glad my experience is over. Disappointed by this local business. Went to look for a wedding party dress. Received no help, despite having an appointment. When I expressed my hope of having some professional input, I received an apathetic response and no help. Not sure if it was due to the fact I was only shopping for myself, and not a whole wedding party, or what, but extremely disappointed. The absolute worst customer service I have EVER experienced. My dress came in late and when it did come in, the fabric at the back was sewn into the dress! When I initially called Sara Grace, they suggested I send a photo to them so they could see the damage. I live hours away from Rockford and, because the dresses came late & because the wedding is now less than a month away, I had to get this fixed immediately. I found a seamstress who was able to fix my dress near where I live. When I called Sara Grace to ask them to help pay for the alteration (the zipper, not even the full price of the entire alteration!) they repeatedly told me that there was nothing they can do for me since I did not come to them to fix it. I asked to speak to the owner and was told that she would call me in 3 days...6 days passed and I finally tracked her down and she was the RUDEST person I have ever spoken to. She continually talked over me when I was trying to provide details and was absolutely awful. I would never recommend this place to any bride or bridesmaid. read more

A very nice little shop! I went in to try on a specific wedding dress and got in a dressing room BEFORE my appointment was even supposed to start. My consultant was very friendly and helpful. She had an alternations person talk to me and give me a written estimate for each detail I'd need changed - all in under half an hour. I walked in to this store to browse around and get an idea of what's going on. Now, I am fully aware of most bridal salons pretty much carrying avg to petite sizes (I am about a 20-22) the women working were chatting when i walked in, no problem. they greeted me, which i said i was just looking around. once i got further away (and i swear to god, this is true) i hear "do you think she knows we only go up to a size 14, i hope she plans on loosing a ton of weight before her wedding" ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?!?!?! yea, some awesome sales people they are. talk about horrible, it's a wedding, keep your thoughts inside your mind, or at least until the person leaves. such bad people. read more

Caitlyn and Gail were wonderful here! After dragging my bridesmaids to several bigger city bridal boutiques and shops, I decided to just venture off on my own locally while I was off work. The girls here were so welcoming, I tried on so many dresses and not once did they make me feel like I was an inconvenience. They had a wide selection and they were very considerate of my budget. I am a bridesmaid in an out of state wedding, and Sara Grace was the nearest retailer of the brand of bridesmaids dress that the bride has chosen. I called to see if I needed an appointment to try on the dress to know what size to order, and was treated very poorly. I understand I was not looking to purchase the dress through this retailer as they do not carry the newest/specific dress that I needed - but was hopeful as a business they would be understanding enough to allow someone to try on a dress and take 5 minutes of their time. Instead, after being scolded that they don't like when people do that as I'm not a paying customer, I was left feeling disappointed and too uncomfortable to go into the store. Not only is customer service an important quality for a business, but polite to others is an appreciated character in life. While not a "paying customer" today, they have lost the potential of one in the future. read more

Great bridal and evening gown shop! After we visited several Chicagoland bridal shops, we visited the Sara Grace bridal store. My daughter loved this shop and bought her wedding dress & veil. The staff and seamstress provided excellent customer service. Additionally, we purchased 2 evening gowns for the wedding and the service was top notch. Sara Grace was the first place I went to begin the process of looking for a wedding dress. I had never tried wedding dresses on before and had no idea what would look good on me. From the time I walked in to the store to scheduling an appointment to trying on dresses, I was met with friendly and knowledgeable staff! They really took time with me to talk and teach me about the dress types while I figured out what I liked. At the appointment, I was able to narrow down the type of dress style and material that was flattering for me which is half the process! I had a great experience with Sara Grace and would easily give them 5 stars except that their hours were difficult to work with. Between my schedule and inviting the mothers to join me, it was difficult to schedule an appointment when our work day ended at 5 and Sara Grace is only open until 6 and closed on Sunday. Other than that minor issue, I would give the customer service 5 stars! Their selection was larger than expected and they weren't pushy at all, in fact, they encouraged me to go home and sleep on it before making a decision. I went there to help my friend, the bride, try on bridal dresses. Here mother couldn't make it that day to try on dresses, so we were just trying to narrow down the options before she came back with just her mom to purchase the dress. We had a 3pm apointment with a total of 7 people (bridesmaids and family). Geri greeted us when we came in, but as soon as she heard we weren't going to buy that day, she was not interested in helping us. The bride showed her some pictures of what she was looking for in terms of style. She told the bride "I don't think we will have anything you will like" right at the very beginning. She was hostile to the bride and her entire entourage. I saw a dress on display that was almost exactly like the picture the bride showed Geri. So I asked Geri if the bride could try it on, and Geri gave me a dirty look and told me "i guess" while rolling her eyes. They had some beautiful dresses, but Geri was the absolute WORST!! I would not buy my dress here. I scheduled my appointment and went to try on dresses. I was pleasantly pleased with the dresses I tried on and the help I received while changing. However, I am rating this store incredibly low because of their inability to obtain accurate measurements. I know wedding dress sizes run large, however, I PAID them to obtain measurements and they measured my 5'2" frame at 105lb and insisted I was a size 10-12. Believing this was wrong, I was afraid to order my dress in the wrong size considering the amount of money one pays for a wedding dress. I was measured at another store and ordered my dress in a size 2. Can you imagine the alterations needed if I had purchased my dress from Sara Grace. I find their inability to obtain accurate measurements very unprofessional. I'm very glad and relieved I took my business elsewhere! read more

We had been here to try on Bridal gowns and we were not very impressed with their selection, being a plus size gal I assumed that would be the case. I decided to give them a second try for bridesmaid dresses. We went in and the boutique was dead. One other person being helped in the back- we didn't get greeted- not even a look in our direction, the associate just seemed to be shuffling dresses around and to a point- avoiding us. As we looked around (15-20 minutes) there were three other parties that had come in- and not a hello or even a look in their direction. Very displeased. I will never be back. The customer service was absolutely appalling, with it being prime prom and wedding session, you would think they would step up their service. I am pleased to take my business elsewhere. read more

I took my daughter and her homecoming dates mom to this store looking for a homecoming dress for my daughters 1st big dance. They not only had a very small selection from what it seemed on the website but also treated us very poorly. No help at all and acted from the minute we walked in that we had no money to spend on a dress. Everything the lady said was these are the cheep dresses over her and oh that one is $130 dollars. Then although I should have walked out then I wanted my daughter to get a chance to at least try on her first dress and nothing was smaller then a 10 I asked if they can order and she acted like I was bothering her with my question....worse experience ever!!! So we headed off to David's Bridal met with an amazing helpful associate that treated my daughter like a princess and gave her the experience a young lady excited for her 1st dance deserves and we found the perfect dress and shoes. Let me just say Sara Grace we didn't have a budget for the dress I wanted my daughter to get a dress she loved and be given an experience of someone caring to help her find just the right dress for her and thankfully we found a store to do that because this store really needs to learn how to treat a customer I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! read more

After buying an overpriced bridesmaid dress there for another wedding i was trying to avoid trying wedding dresses for myself on at Sara Grace. However, after deciding it was easiest to just stay in Rockford for the search I added them to the list. After having a super positive experience at my first stop of the day I was sadly disappointed by how pretentious the lady helping me was at SG. She made it very clear my budget needed to be atleast 1500 (which is fine but the way she said it was with an air of only poor people spend less than that). She then continued to look and act annoyed when I didn't love a dress and further kept calling me not wanting loads of jewels and beading as "plain" or " simple" which made me feel like she thought I was simple....unlike the place I bought from which viewed my preferences as "clean and romantic"....interesting how different two approaches can be. The costumer service was poor, the attitude made me feel uncomfortable, and I certainly did not feel special there what so ever. read more

I have been meaning to write a review for some time now since my wedding since I was so pleased with my experience here. I was nervous about purchasing my dress here since I do not have a lot of money and am living somewhat paycheck-to-paycheck. I nearly refused to try anything on after looking at the price tags in horror, but my mother convinced me to give it a whirl. They were very attentive and helped me into every dress I tried on. One young lady (who was such a sweetheart) and a newer employee nearly injured herself getting me into a complicated gown. I didn't choose a dress right away thinking I should check out other stores, but every time I envisioned my wedding day, I saw myself wearing a particular dress that I had tried on. It was way out of my budget, but I asked about payment plans, and they were extremely accommodating by holding the dress at the shop for me for 8 months while I came in regularly to make little payments here and there. I loved that, I was thinking a boutique like that would require the entire payment up front, but that was not the case and by letting me do this I was able to have my dream gown! My mother bought her Mother of the Bride dress here as well and we both had our alterations done at the same time. I think the name of the lady who did our alterations was Kay (I feel terrible for not remembering for sure!) and she was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this shop for formal wear even if you are on a tighter budget like I was. They understood my financial situation and found a solution that worked for both of us. read more

I live here in Rockford but am originally from elsewhere. One of my best friends, from where I am from, had recently gotten engaged and decided to make the trek to Rockford with her mother, soon to be mother in law, and 5 bridesmaids including myself, to dress shop. I had scheduled appointments at 3 places, Sara Grace not being one of them. After the first two appointments we had some time to kill before the third so we decided to pop into Sara Grace unannounced to look around. We were greeted immediately upon entering and all 8 of us took over the store looking around and pulling dresses. There were two women working, one was with an appointment, but both were so helpful!! Our bride was given a fitting room and the worker explained that the appointment gets priority over the big mirror in the middle but thankfully while our bride was changing, the other bride was using the mirror and vice versa so it worked out well. Both of the workers were fun, funny and so helpful, even searching around the place to get more chairs to accommodate all of us. I couldn't have asked for more, especially since we just dropped in with so many people! The selection of bridal gowns at this store was amazing, and our bride was able to say yes to an amazing dress!! She almost fell over when the worker told her the price of the dress because it was such a great deal! So, all in all, if you are looking for a bridal gown, make sure you stop in here! read more
