After trying "boutique" nail salons in the city, I found Sarah Nails through a friend and have never looked back. The salon itself is very clean and the staff is always welcoming, never rushing me to pick a color, and always accommodates a last-minute appointment or walk-in! I always opt for a gel manicure and it lasts much longer than my experiences at trendy salons in the fan & they even offer some of the same organic polishes if you choose to go that route. If not, I also love this salon as it's never overpowering/smelling of chemicals. The snack and drink bar is a nice touch and the prices are very reasonable ($30 for gel manicure or regular pedicure). It's such a relaxing atmosphere and the chairs for the pedis are comfy! I'm not a fan of the massaging, but I'm sure I'm in the minority on this one! So, if you've got a case of ennui, this is the pedi"cure"! I've also seen ladies and "manis" at this nail shop! The first experience was sublime! Loved my nails, silver and gold! The second time manicurist was distracted, on her phone, had another customer looks be up tickets for an event while doing my nails, but the color I picked for autumn was gorgeous, a sparkly rusty pumpkin color! My third trip was so nice! My pedi was done so fast and easy! I loved the tan neutral my daughter and I picked! But, they didn't give us any hand lotion before painting our nails which is unusual for nail salons. And my dry, crusty, alligator skin needed some lovin'!! I did love their nail polish wall! Great selection! I was asked by a friend if they had an ABC license because she loves wine with her mani!! Sadly no. They don't "offer" soft drinks and water, but if you ask, they point to a mini fridge. This is my third time going here to get my nails done today I went in to get nails for graduation. I had Pam, I think she was new to the salon but she went above and beyond making sure my nails were exactly what I wanted. Could not recommend her more, originally I started going here out of convenience because it was so close to where I lived but after how amazing Pam did on my nails I will definitely be going there for their quality now. She took her time, didn't get any polish on my skin and only just barely touched my skin with the electric filer once. Since I got my tips on my nails for the first time and she was so nice and patient with me as I was trying to decide what length I was comfortable with. Also since I was getting tips I needed to get dip gel on my nails but my toes were in regular gel since they did not have a perfect match they made sure to add a layer of the gel I had on my toes to my nails to get them to match! You tell me... I've been getting ombré for over 10 years and never had it look quite like this. How could anyone think this looks good?? Or even ok?! I should've gone with my gut and just left when he never wrapped my old dip off my nails and started with this hot garbage. My first time here, the lady in the front did my nails. While the edges did peel in 2 weeks, she did good otherwise so I came back. The guy tonight, way different story. Didn't wrap/remove my old dip, burned my finger on the drill, cut my cuticle until it bled and gave me the worst ombré set I've truly ever had unfortunately. So sad I wasted my time and $70 on these hideous nails. I should have spoken up and said this is not acceptable. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere or ask for the nice lady in the front who actually knows what she's doing. I'd love my money back or that lady to redo them right about now. The spa is nice!! And they have plenty of nail colors. I felt like a kid in the candy shop. My nail tech was nice...but it took them almost an hour to begin my pedicure. They brought me to the back within 10 minutes of my arrival and put my feet in the water. But didnt start the pedi until about 50 minutes later. My feet were like raisins by the time they started. But, in all fairness, it was super crowded which, according to them and another patron, is rare. In total, I spent 2 hours there. Since there are so many nail salons in the area, I don't know if I'll be back. If I do, I'll make a reservation - which seems to work best. read more

I made an appointment to get a pedicure with Cathy. She's been doing my nails on and off for 12 years. I love her and I love the service she gives. When I told my daughter I was getting a pedicure she said she wanted one too. I called and was told someone could do her at 4 when I have my appointment. When I arrived Cathy told me to head back to the pedicure chair. My daughter has to wait 35 minutes and the lady slapped her on her foot to get her attention and left her to do some else. She literally walked away! Another lady finished my daughter's pedicure and did a great job. If the other person hadn't done that I would have given this review a 4 or 5 star. Cathy is the best and I will continue to use her but I wouldn't refer anyone to this place unless Cathy is available to do their nails or their feet. read more

She made sure I was happy with it and helped me pick out a better color that better matched what I was looking for. They also offer a wax treatment option if you're interested! I was referred to this salon by a friend after I complemented her manicure. My manicure was excellent. I also had a pedicure on a different date that was nice. I didn't understand why with a Manicure there is no lotion or massage. When I asked I was told that they don't do lotion massage because of Covid. I am a medical provider working in a hospital and there is no evidence to support this. Not to mention they are working with your hands the entire time so what is the difference when it comes to the massage and I am still charged the same price with less service. There is also a 3% penalty if you use your debit card on top of cash only tip. I wish I would have known this before going. I like Vanessa so I will continue to see her for now. Decent polish job but I hated that the hand-off took place without me even being told and then to have her be so rigid and rushed was unpleasant. The spot is nice. While visiting Richmond I found this salon. It's extremely clean inside and nicely decorated. The stone, marble, and light fixtures are very classy. Not your traditional salon. It's very nicely kept. The staff is very nice as well. They have a huge selection of shellac and regular polish. They have samples of each color and some are on these nice boards to sample what you want. All the colors are organized by numbers. I got a pedicure with my husband. It was the $40 one with scrub, hot stone massage, and a regular massage. They massage a ton! It was awesome! The chairs are nice too. All their equipment is top notch. You get to pick your scent too. The pedi was well worth it. We also were walk ins and they took us both at the same time. I'm thankful that worked out because it was 4:00 on a Friday. They have drinks and snacks as well. The paint job was great until I left the salon and looked up close. Where she did the third application you could see the lines. It was not against my skin. My big toe was kinda messed up. Could have been my fault but appears it was the way it was applied. Who knows. One of my toes got smudged and the lady fixed it right away, no questions asked. I will return though. I fault myself for not pointing it out. I do not remember the name of the young woman who did them, but she was absolutely amazing! Very particular about detail and nice. It took a while but it turned out great and my nails are still intact even after playing volleyball and treating them like my natural nails. So many colors, scented lotions, and fantastic nail artists to choose from. They were upfront about pricing and gave me many options if what I wanted was too expensive. Takes great care of customers. This used to be one of my favorite nail salons, it's beautiful inside, the people are very nice. But my most recent experience was upsetting. I was getting a pedicure before my birthday beach trip and the woman doing my pedicure asked me what shape I wanted, I said square and she confirmed with me that I said square. She finished one foot and I began looking closely at it because it didn't look right, she said she didn't round... then proceeded to try and explain why she did round. I took my mom there yesterday as an early birthday present. The shop is so cute, very modern. I looks like it should be a shop on LA. Sooooo many choices of colors to choose from too. They took us back and we were handed brochures on the different types of pedicures. I simply explained that I just wanted lots of massage and the then wax treatment. They were so helpful. They even told us how much it was going to be, which I thought was nice. We must have been there for over an hour, it was such a pleasant experience. Hey chatted a lot with myself and my mom so that made it very personable. They have snacks, bottled water, and soda to choose from as well. I would def. recommend this place. 9 times out of 10 I love this nail salon. I really don't have a lot negative to say, basically just depends on who you have as your tech. You can really tell the owner cares a lot for her employees and they keep the salon immaculate. The salon is decorated beautifully, which is important to me. I really need to enjoy the ambience as well as the experience of getting my nails done. They have plenty of colors to choose from. I usually get my nails dipped or shellac and a regular pedicure. My only gripe is it would be great to have a few more options with scents for the scrubs and lotions. There are only four to choose from. Maybe just a seasonal one would be nice, especially for Christmas :) Overall I love this salon this salon: my nails look great, last for weeks, and I leave feeling relaxed. The nail technician started my pedicure and everything was fine until one of her friends walked in at which point she left me sitting in the pedicure chair for almost 20 minutes waiting on her while she started working on her friends nails. I have been to this nail salon a couple times and always leave pretty happy. They're very quick and the facility is one of the cleaner, more appealing facilities I've seen in Richmond. Design of the place is pretty new and it's very spacious so you don't feel too cramped like you're doing some nail salons. The setting is also very calm and soothing and more spa-like. They always offer me a drink when I walk in which is great and don't rush me through anything. I think the pricing is good as well and they don't pressure me into getting anything I don't want. My only criticism is that the two times I've gotten pedicures there, I asked how long the wait is going to be they say about five minutes. And then about five minutes later they put me in the chair and put my feet in the water and then I wait another 20 minutes for someone to come to me. So to me, that's more like a 25 minute wait, not a five minute wait. I've been fine with it both times, but without being informed, I just keep wondering why people keep walking by me and when am I going to get worked on. It hasn't been a problem timing-wise for me, but if I was tight for time I would be frustrated with that. Lastly, they give great, lengthy massages which is exactly the main reason I get pedicures!
