It seemed like a pretty quiet night at Summit Grill. I sat at the bar and order a glass of wine and an appetizer: this sourdough pretzels. The bartender was kind and polite and quick with the service. There were only about three or four tables with people, let them during the course of my time. A few other folks came and sat at the bar. I heard it a side salad with salmon and it came out to me pretty quickly. The flavor was delicious, the salmon, well cooked, and the apple vinaigrette dressing on the salad was delightful. The biggest challenge, was a table with a few children sitting at it. This is no fault of the restaurant, and really, not even the result of my four-star rating. This is merely a statement: if your children are misbehaving and screaming and banging things on the table while other people are trying to eat their dinner, then perhaps the best option is to remove the children from the restaurant. It's always surprising to me when parents are selfish and subject everyone else in the vicinity around them to the poor behavior of their children. As a parent myself, I would never do that to other people. When you go out to a nice restaurant, you want to relax and enjoy the time not listen to tantrums from a three year old. Even the bartender in the servers were frustrated with this table. Some people even walked out after sitting down when they realize that unbelievable noise is coming from one table. I had a fantastic experience at Summit Grill. I ordered the short rib Manhattan from the seasonal menu, and it was absolutely divine -- rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The brown sugar old fashioned was also made to perfection and paired wonderfully with the meal. The service was great, and the atmosphere was very nice -- upscale but still comfortable. It is definitely on the higher-end side price-wise, but you truly get what you pay for here. It was the least expensive appetizer option at $12...and the "jumbo" sounded attractive. So why not? The rings are "jumbo"-lly bigger than most others offer. The ring is made from a large onion. The onion piece was rather thin. I was expecting a "thicker" piece - perhaps two layers thick given the size of the ring. The onion was sweeter and mild. The batter was very thin, flakey and a touch oily. It has a nice seasoning to go along with the chipotle sauce. Definitely worth a try if you like onion rings. The crust is a hand tossed style and baked to a soft crispy crust. It has a slightly sweet flavor with a mild flour taste. The sauce was not very prominent to the flavor - mild tomato sauce taste. The sauce was hidden by the pile of fresh toppings. There was a nice amount of delicious mozzarella cheese to hold the toppings together and give it a moist pizza flavor. Cold Pizza Test - the pizza was still soft and moist 24 hours later. It seems like the ingredients "marinated" and enhance the Italian flavors. The mozzarella cheese flavors tended to "pop" more. It's the ole ball and chain's birthday weekend, so we went to SG for lunch... I've been once before, but this was her first time. Needless to say, she was impressed. The service was great, the food was awesome, and it was just an all around great lunch. We ordered the steak sandwich and grouper sandwich with fries (it's "eat like a jackass" for her birthday weekend, so we got the fires instead of a salad). The sandwiches were awesome (they literally sliced up a whole ribeye for the steak sandwich... Yuuuge) and the fries were fire. While SG may seem likes it's on the pricier side, for the amount of food you get, the prices are very fair and reasonable. If you're looking for a solid upscale gastro pub with good food, big drink selection, respectable service, and a place to catch a game with friends, SG is definitely it on the SW side of town. read more

Found this place close to my hotel while on a business trip. Busy place for a Tuesday but decent service. Menu is rather diverse with BBQ Brisket, fried rice, fish, burgers, sandwiches and lots of cocktails. Food was just okay but I will definitely recommend the Reese's pie. Yum! Prices were a little high for some things - on par with other items. Restaurant was clean, very well designed and the bathroom was impressive. Stopped by for a business lunch with coworkers. It was pretty busy but we were seated quickly. - Food: Tried the Texas Twinkies and fried chicken sandwich with fries. I enjoyed the Texas Twinkies. It wasn't spicy - and was basically an American egg roll with brisket, caramelized onions, jalapeños, and jack cheese. As an Asian, I approve. Dipping them in BBQ sauce felt odd tho...you do you boo. The fried chicken sandwich was okay - had a nice fry, but lacked flava. Service: Our server was friendly and attentive. This is a nice spot to take clients/coworkers. Great restaurant with great service! Caleb was our waiter while I was out to dinner while in town for work with my manager and he was very attentive provided great service. I started with a wedge salad that was delicious and had plenty of toppings. I would give the wedge a 8/10; very good and would order again. As my meal I got the grilled wings with buffalo sauce which were very very good, u would give them a 9/10. All wings were big and the buffalo sauce had a ton of flavor and clearly was not just out of a bottle. Bleu cheese was also very good. Was visiting my parents and after our event we were looking for a place that was open late in a Friday (a lot of restaurants close at 9-10pm in the area. This place wad open til 1am which was perfect. Food was pretty good, here's a breakdown of what we got: Apps: Texas Twinkies which were amazing. They are beef brisket egg rolls which were so good! Next up were the jumbo Onion Rings, and when they say jumbo, they mean it! These were huge, and the batter was seasoned so well with really good southwest dipping sauce. I wanted a second order. Last up were the wings (sweet chili were good but we weren't impressed with the BBQ). Entrees: Southern Fried Chicken with Mac & cheese and green beans. Fried chicken was overcooked and not seasoned at all. Seemed like they just battered it in plain flour and fired it. Mac & cheese was ok nothing special and green beans were seasoned so well! Ossian smoked pork chop was cooked to perfection and had an amazing glaze. The side of Brussels was perfect with this. Italian sausage pepper penne had really good flavor! Overall service was good (it wasn't too busy), food came out hot and fresh, and mostly everything was cooked and seasoned well (just need to work on the fired chicken). I came to Summit Grill Kitchen & Cocktails with a group of coworkers for an event. We were all attending a full day of fire training, half of the time we would be here for class training and the other at a local fire station for a live burn. Summit Grill has an event area which is large for a big group of people and is very comfortable. That said it has two tvs, but one could not project the powerpoints in them, leaving the entire room to have to only see from one television. My group was sitting in the side of the non-working tv, which made it difficult. We ordered the restaurant food for lunch, and I ordered fried chicken and fries. The fries were soggy, the fried chicken lacked seasoning and was overcooked. It was an enjoyable class, the room was comfortable but ultimately there were things that need improvement. read more

Used to come here before it was Summit Grill. They have done a great job with renovations. It is clean, bright, and welcoming now! The outdoor patio is a great place to sit both in the summer and winter with heaters. I definitely have my favorite dishes here, including the French onion soup and their pizza! Generally I've had good experiences at Summit Grill. My biggest complaint is that the food tends to be salty here, but generally it's pretty good. I've never had a bad service experience, and when there is a problem they are right on top of getting your issue taken care of without a fuss. My small kids like their burgers and mac and cheese, but are not fans of the hot dogs (they "taste like sausage" my oldest says and were kind of shriveled up). They have crayons and interesting kid placemats to color, and they are one of the only places in the area with a kitchen that is open later than 9PM, even on a Sunday. I had the birria skins and the street corn this time. The potato skins were good although a little salty. The street corn was all sorts of awful in my opinion. It was not at all what I was expecting and and tasted overwhelmingly of mayonnaise. I was expecting a grilled corn on the cob, but what I got was a huge dollop of mayo in a bowl covered with lightly grilled corn with even more mayo or sour cream (I couldn't tell what was on top) and way over salted. Not all of their sides are like that, but this one - woof. I do like their cocktails, but I didn't have any this time to talk about. Their draft beer selection changes frequently. As far as bar atmosphere goes it's also a cool rail that they have with underlighting and it's central in the dining space. It's a nice place to go to watch sports and have a good time - they even put other interesting things on some of the TVs like dog shows. They have clean bathrooms with little extra amenities which is nice and they have ample facilities so you don't feel crowded and rarely have to wait to go. I'd say, if you are in the area and it's after 8:30PM and you don't want to to go IHOP and are wanting cocktails more than beer to accompany your dinner give Summit Grill a try. read more

After walking in, it looks amazing as well. Bright and clean with large tv's everywhere. Nice looking bar area as well. Now to the food. They have a decent menu pretty typical menu. I ordered the Grouper Sandwich with Fries. It looked ok, but didn't taste like anything. No seasoning what so ever just a piece of fish with batter. It was greasy and really tasteless. The fries were fair. My coworker ordered a pizza. She indicated it also was bland with no flavor whatsoever. She thought she since she asked for sausage pizza there would be flavor but she said there was none. She mentioned the tomato sauce had an odd flavor too. Our server was sweet and attentive which is why I'll give this a 3. Overall everything looks good but if you are coming to eat...not so sure. I eat here every time I'm in town for work. They have a pretty big menu with a lot of options. I will usually just sit in the bar area and there are tons of TVs all throughout. It is a mainly one large open area consisting of the bar with several dining tables around the bar as well. There is a room off to the side that has an open wall so you are not sitting in the bar but you will hear the noise from the bar area. I've gotten the appetizer that consist of hummus, salad and chips. Pretty large and sometimes I will get it for my meal. I have also gotten the Chicken quesadillas. I sat at the bar, which is a huge open bar with a black stone type of countertop. There is plenty of light coming into the large windows. In warmer days, they do have patio seating to enjoy some outdoor dining. There are plenty of large TV's, if you like to go to a bar to watch the game. This is the second time I have been to this restaurant and the Birria tacos didn't disappoint this time either! The dipping sauce flavors are amazing! We tried the fried green tomatoes, which I've never tried, they were really good and the dipping sauce paired well with them. The bang bang shrimp was delicious! It's a bit on the sweeter side, but I love sweet. I tried the Sour patch kid (blue drink) cocktail and the Tropicana. The Bartender "M" was friendly and put up with our (My) shenanigans.
