I was very pleased with Dr Sarasa Kumar from my initial appointment. I can appreciate that she is absolutely thorough with my children's health assessments. Regardless of the reason for my visit, she is always very thorough, never cuts corners. She always takes into consideration the parents concerns and will still be thorough with her assessments and explanations. She will answer every single question, the small questions, the big questions, the less concerning questions and the high concern ones as well. Her staff is also very caring and patient. I am a mother of a 2 and 4 year old, and I myself am a healthcare worker. I will say it is very difficult to find doctors like Dr Kumar. Doctors that are kind, respectful of your priorities and beliefs, and thorough with assessments. I understand a lot of people have concerns with the long waits, however I will tell you that the waits are long because she is thorough with every child including your own. If quick visits is a priority then maybe Dr Kumar is not for you. But again, consider is a quick visit going to mean your doctor is cutting corners, or not being thorough with your child? Or maybe not listening to your concerns, or answering your questions? We love Doctor Kumar, and we appreciate that is she is thorough and critical with our children. Office experience . They treat all the way from babies to teens , they have no consider for having young Children in the office for 3 hours before seeing the Doctor for a simple check up . I was told they skipped my first sons 2 pm appointment bc my second son was at 3pm and finally the doctor came in around 4;15pm and tried explaining why it was okay for the wait to be this long . I found office staff skills to be sub par , office manager to be quite uncaring as to the situation and the doctor is comfortable with the staffs lack of urgency to any situation. Came here for my newborns first 2 visits since she is under my insurance the clinic I take my other 2 kids don't take my insurance so I needed something quick. The staff was able to squeeze me in and got all my babies information for the Dr to have. The dr is really nice and informative on newborn care (she went over it even though I already know because of my other 2 pregnancies). Dr K even gave my some vitamin D samples plus 2 boxes of pre-mixed formula since I'm EBF to give me a small break and have someone else feed my baby. Really good experience here and I would come back if I didn't already have a primary pediatrician. read more

Upsetting that they NEVER answer their phones! They need to hire more people to help them if they have only one M.A that does EVERYTHING. Rooming, answering phones, injections, and so much more. This review is to inform future and current patients of the incompetence and unprofessionalism which is occurring at this practice. This office simply operates on bare minimum staffing and lack for the well-being of its patients. Purely money driven and turning patients away if they have one insurance over another. Shawn Kumar runs the office like he's running a concentration camp with his employees. Talking down to them, degrading them and seems to be unfit as a supervisor, his lack of compassion to his staff and clients had been noted and will be taking to a higher level of oversite to make sure he's not violating any laws. It's bad enough this practice operates on the bare minimum staffing and still uses old and outdated equipment. I know this first hand because someone very close (my wife) was working for them and was dehumanized, humiliated, and spoken down to everyday by Shawn. Poor guy couldn't even provide office equipment that works. My wife would have to bring her own office equipment just to do her job. Shawn if your reading this please be prepared for some changes coming your way. I'll do my best through litigation this doesn't happen again with any other employees of yours. Would give 0 stars if I could. My mom has been with Dr Kumars office for roughly 15 YEARS / throughout 3 minor daughters. Sadly, we are reporting Dr Kumar to our medical insurance and the Medical Board of California for negligence. Save your time, insurance money, and sanity and go literally elsewhere as this office is only useful for immunizations and referrals. It's a shame to write this review but it's also an incredible disgrace after Dr Kumar denied service to my youngest sister 1 week after her traumatic level 5 (level 6 is death) dog attack. My sister suffered from her thumb almost being completely ripped off (18 stitches & now her hand is *hopefully* temporarily immobile) and 4 deep laceration's through her thigh. She was taken by a 1 hour ambulance ride where she then was placed at Loma Linda Children's Emergency (WOULD RECOMMEND) for almost 12 hours. She is now extremely traumatized. Per the hand surgeons recommendations at Loma Linda, we made the appointment with her pediatrician, Dr Kumar, which happened exactly a week after the incident, where Dr Kumar refused service and stated that she did not have the "tools" to open up the SOFT elastic/gauze cast on her hand to look/clean stitches. She's a primary DR and doesn't have these very very basic materials?!!! Make that make sense! Also, while the appointment was being made, my mom made it very clear what the exact injuries were and what was needed from DR - that being said, why didn't DR have her staff inform us PRIOR to the appointment that she was unequipped & incompetent to handle this type of injury? Why waste your patients time after the trauma they've already had? Complete lack of care. DR made it very obvious that the dissolvable stitches were NOT her problem and didn't bother to give an urgent referral or as a matter of fact, really any solution. As if my youngest sister, the victim, hadn't suffered enough, Dr Kumar made the situation even more difficult because after leaving her office we had no choice but to take her to urgent care. PVHC Urgent care at the crossroads in Chino Hills (ALSO WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND) whom advised us to report her as well. They were actually in shock that as a primary DR, she would use such pathetic and quite unethical excuses. DR is completely useless. Coincidentally, my youngest sister turns 18 in a month meaning Dr Kumar can no longer benefit from the 15 year long insurance cash cow. read more

Where do I begin, if I can give 0 stars I would . After being with dr kumar for over 10 years plus it was time to move on. She is a good dr but her staff sucks !!!! She struggles with having a nurse and now I don't even blame them as why they quit in her . I had it over the top with these lame policies they put in place . I was rescheduled from this mo day 1/10/22 because she had no nurse and I said today 1/13/22 would work better because both my kids would have a dentist appointment and they called me a couple hours before the appointment to notify me she was only seeing patient and parent and I explained to Lisa that there was no way possible I could reattached with short notice and her response was I'm just telling you , are you kidding ? The audacity and the nerve after I've been rescheduled from Monday !!! It should be a double standard policy if the patient cancels on dr and the dr should have same respect for patients time !!! I showed up to my appointment today and I was refused to be seen!!! Spoke to the office manager ,Jose and he was not helpful. No empathy at all. Save yourself a headache , I don't recommend this pediatrician for your kids needs!! Her staff is great, Lisa (nurse) is great not just simple vitals she takes her time to review info on my son. Dr Kumar remembers her patients we haven't seen her since March and to this day remembers our conversation she is awesome. She speaks kind to my son not in a rush. Dr Kumar, herself is a very great doctor. She's extremely thorough when examining her patients. I love how caring and informative she is during our visits. My daughter is only months old and as a new parents I have a lot of worries and concerns. Dr Kumar puts me at ease by answering all my questions. She truly makes me believe my child is in great hands. The only reason why I couldn't grant 5 stars is because the office staff needs tremendous work. I'm aware of all the HMO policies and regulations because I actually work in the industry and I can attest that they do not follow certain rules. If you have to see a doctor, she'll do. If you have a choice in a doctors, I would go elsewhere. I don't doubt her knowledge or competency as a doctor, but her customer service and the atmosphere, for lack of a better term, was not what I would have hoped for. First, I had to wait an hour in the waiting room, and my kid was the only one there. After being escorted to the exam room, I waited at least another 20 minutes. With what seemed to be no other patients in the office, I don't know why I was waiting so long. Second, the "atmosphere" I referred to was two kids who were children or relatives of some kind to an office employee and the dad walked in and out of the office like they owned the place. It may not be a very big deal, but it gave an unprofessional feel to me. Lastly, once I finally saw the doctor we essentially got into an argument because my daughter didn't have a vaccination, I couldn't explain why, and she refused to give her the vaccination citing she was too old to get it. She kept harassing me as to why or how I could have missed a vaccination. I asked her if that makes her a high risk for it, and she said no it's not that big of a deal. So she harasses me about missing the vaccination, but admits my daughter will be fine. On top of that, I went to another doctor later explaining I missed the vaccination and if my daughter can still get it, and the other doctor said yes and it wouldn't be a problem. So again, not a big deal and no need to yell at me for nothing. In regards to convenience, I was a little spoiled. We moved to the area and previously were taking our kids to another doctor, Coastal Kids, who was very available with several doctors, a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) on staff, and after-hours on call nurses to call. Their office also had separate sick and well patient waiting rooms. Dr. Kumar's office has none of that. Granted, it is private practice, but to have no off hours and being the only doctor made it tough when my youngest needed some care in the middle of the night a couple times. I would not recommend Dr. Kumar. I recently visited Pediatric Partners. Only one visit, but so far a small step up from Dr. Kumar. read more

She dimmed the lights to make the setting more comfortable for my daughter. Our visit was at least 30 minutes and she took the time to answer all of my questions. Really helpful as a first time mom! Not only are the wait times ridiculous, but the doctor disregarded a tumor I had shown her on my 2 year old-after I insisted, she referred me to a specialist, they removed the tumor in fear of cancer. My husband is in the military so we have moved a lot. I have had to find a new doctor for my kids each time. Dr. Kumar and her staff are great. I decided to post this review because I saw other reviews stating long wait times. I've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes (we were booked same day as an emergency). Dr. Kumar explains everything to you and welcomes questions. Her receptionist and medical assistant are very friendly. I am so happy I found this office. I have 4 kids and she has been great each and every visit. I have waited hours, yes hours, for rude, impatient and condescending pediatricians. Dr. Kumar takes her time with your child, and you, and she is so caring. She has never made me feel like she knows everything and I know nothing, as some other pediatricians have. I don't mind if I have to wait a little bit because I know she is going to take her time with my child too. Dr. Kumar and her staff have made me feel like they actually care about my kids. Beware of the doctor that recommends for a 2-day old newborn to check into the ER with absolutely no medical reason. Our baby was born healthy at a birth center that is licensed and covered by Blue Shield, which we found Dr. Kumar through. We were due to bring our daughter in for her pediatrician check up 2 days after birth, but once Dr. Kumar learned baby was born outside of a hospital, she refused to see her and demanded that she first be examined by another doctor in an ER. The baby is perfectly healthy and this was for an initial check up that was already performed at the birth center at birth. What kind of skewed professional opinion is to recommend for a newborn to hang out for a few hours in one of the most germ-ridden areas in their first hours of life? Such a disappointment. My midwife said this is unheard of and has spoken with a supervisor at the insurance company. We used our better judgment and obviously did not follow this recommendation that is out of touch with reality. Found another pediatrician who saw us immediately and without concern. read more

It was the best decision I took switching over my daughter to Dr. Kumar. My daughter is special needs and thanks to her she is getting referred to the specialist that can help her with every condition she has, something her old pediatrician never did. My husband took our daughter in for her one year check up about a week ago, and unfortunately I was unable to attend but he loved Dr kumar. I love Marisa. I have been a patient with Dr. Kumar since I was a little girl in elementary school! I am now 24 years old & have two toddlers myself! We have chosen to follow her from her previous facilities because of how GREAT she is! My daughter has Downsyndrome & has had complications in the past & Dr. Kumar is really amazing at giving my daughter the care she needs & more! Ive been taking my 5yr old to Dr. Kumar since she was 1 yr old. Ive changed my health insurance plans several times and have even moved and I will not change pediatricians. Im very picky and I can honestly say she really is a good doctor and a caring one. She really takes her time she has never made us feel like a number like a lot of busy doctors do. I recently moved to the area and wanted to find the perfect doctor for my daughter... after researching, I came across Dr. kumar and I absolutely LOVE her!!!! She takes her time with the children and REALLY listens to your concerns and CARES about what your saying and tries getting the best care for your child... she doesn't make you feel rushed!! My daughter was really sick a few months back and it turns out she had acute pneumonia and bronchitis, so I took her in and Dr. Kumar seemed worried and even though it was late (around 5pm) she took her time with me, she showed me how to work the nebulizer (breathing treatment) and gave my daughter medicine, within a wk she was cured! I read the reviews posted and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. So I thought I would post mine to let you all know that Dr. Kumar is worth the wait. Not only do I drive from Riverside to Chino for my appointments but I have been taking my 2 kids to her for 14 years. And there are many others just like us. Whether it's just for a physical or sick visit she always addresses my concerns. She is very knowledgeable, up to date on current Pediatric recommendations and genuinely cares for her patients. Yes, her wait time may be an hour. But once she enters your exam room, she will give you 100% of her attention. She does not put a time limit on how long she spends with you in the room like some providers (maybe why such a long wait time). Sure, some visits may be quicker than others and you may have waited an hour to see her. But when you are worried about your sick child, she/he has a serious medical condition and needs detailed, attentive care Dr. Kumar will go above and beyond to make sure your child gets the care he/she deserves. I really feel the yelp reviews do not represent how all her patients feel about her. Over the past 14 years I have seen how her patients adore her and keep coming back. Don't let a few negative Yelp reviews keep you away from such an amazing doctor! read more
