A good place to go to for South Indian cuisine, with affordable pricing. But the service and food delivery is really bad. The service is poor at the Irving branch and need to call and wait for a minimum of 5 minutes to order. The service can be improved.

Saravana Bhavan has been an all time favorite of people who like Indian vegetarian food. The chain has made its presence known all over the world. The Irving location was pretty crowded for a Sunday afternoon. We ordered some food which was delivered promptly and the quality was pretty good. They are not super expensive. If you are looking for casual indian vegetarian food, I recommend this place.

Their dosas are very good. Mango lassis are the best and idly is perfect. Waiters are all nice and have good customer service. I'd recommend coming earlier in the day on weekends as they can get seriously busy, fast.

This place is really good for their South Indian dishes. We tried a few different things from their plain uttapam, veg uttapam, masala dosa, mysore masala dosa, idli, mysore bonda, and coffee. Everything was excellent! They were quick in taking our orders and bringing out the food. They definitely need to do a better job of keeping their restrooms clean since it is a family friendly restaurant and there were quite a few kids there. The restaurant, however, is quite clean.

Had idly and dosa. Was served immediately so I think they were prepared beforehand. So they got cold. Taste was okay.

I love visiting Dallas exclusively bc of all the amazing Indian and Mediterranean food. Saravanaa is a well oiled machine and we were in and out if there in 20 mins once seated. Food came out almost immediately and was delish as always. It's always busy but they move fast so give it a shot!

Came here on a busy Sunday, but we were quickly seated. My friend and I ordered the cheese masala dosa and the thali of the day. The dosa was tasty and made well, but the chutneys accompanying it didn't have much flavor. I'm the thali, I enjoyed the desert a lot. The remaining items were simple and good dishes. Overall the food and service were just ok. I don't think I'd come back for a second visit.

Saravanaa Bhavan is a vegetarian lovers paradise! They have a premium selection and extensive variety of dishes. The ample portions will leave you feeling full and satisfied. Everything our group had was delicious! If you only try 1 or 2 things get the Paneer Butter Cheese Masala Dosa & Channa Batura. Trust me you won't regret it. Whether you're a carnivore or vegetarian, I would definitely recommend you try this spot if you're in the area.

AMAZING. Heard so many good things about this place and it definitely exceeded my expectations. This was my first time trying dosa and I loved it! So light and airy, and the masala was so good! The serving size was also sufficiently large, and for less than $10! Very authentic as well. Would definitely return for more!

Came with high anticipation of good food but I didn't really like the kothu parotta although the idli/vada and masala dosa were decent. The service was quick and place was clean.

Mango lassi was also refreshing and sweet, which helped with the spice of many of the dishes. The inside is not the cleanest, but there are large and small tables for groups of all sizes. It just feels very manufactured. The menu is varied. If you've read my reviews before, you know that I'm a Texa-fornian, so there are a lot of places in Texas that don't suit my palate (or my waist line.) I was easily able to find a couple of things that I would have enjoyed. Based solely on the calorie count, I picked the salmon with cauliflower rice. It was a little oily, but it was good. I cleaned the plate. It's dark inside, like a steakhouse. Not for me, but if that's your thing, you would be happy. It's clean the food's fresh and if you're a drinker, there is a lot of beer. They're known for massively tall "yard" servings of beer, though I didn't see anyone trying one on my lunchtime visit. They do have a good 4 pages of beers on the menu! The place has high ceilings with exposed pipes lending an industrial vibe. The menu helpfully marks vegetarian options as well as lower calorie choices. I was impressed to see power outlets along the purse hooks below the bar - if you wanted to bring a laptop and catch up on work emails, it'd be possible. Our waitress was business-like and a little unfriendly, and service was terribly slow. The food was good. Free refills on our drinks flowed freely. I tried a veggie burger which was a bit spicy and oaty. I wish I'd tried a salad! Still, I appreciated that they worked with me on reserving tables for a large group all with separate checks.

Being in Austin, I was definitely craving for food north Indian food so thought of making a trip to the Irving, TX. Food: 10/10 Ambience: 10/10 Food prep time/service: 10/10 I reached there on a Friday around 11:50am, pretty empty but people started walking in right after we got the table. It's a fast food restaurant so basically you place the order first and grab a table and they will call your order number. We got chola bhatura, masala chai and Raj kachori. The Raj kachori came pretty quick and was full of flavors. I loved it completely. It was crunchy and had well mix of chutney at the same time. Chai was ok, it was pre made just like any other restaurant. Chola bhatura was amazing. Bhatura was being made just next to the food window. So as soon they were coming out, they were out on a plate and served. Bhatura was not oily, and almost every single one of them was fluffy. I saw chola bhatura plate on almost every single table (at least 6 tables were occupied at that time) Chole was also good, little bit on spicy side. It came with a side of pickle packet, onion and cucumber, fried mirchi. Most of folks were also trying their Thali. We got the deluxe thali which came with dal makhni, Shahi paneer, mix veg, Raita, pickle packet, onion, cucumber and lemon, rice, a sweet (which was mathura peda in our plate) and 2 breads (naan, laccha parantha). They can provide to-go box if you have some item leftover from Thali. None of item disappointmented at all. We got also the sweets,Rasmalai and some dry snacks for to-go. You can choose, mix and make your own box. Price for sweet is around $20 per pound. For 1 pound, we got 12 pieces of sweets platter. Overall restaurant was clean, water and utensils were there. Restroom were also clean. This place is around 1 year old but have been maintained good.

I have been thinking about this samosa sandwich since my husband moved to Irving (and his condo is only 500 feet of this place as the crow flies) - today was the day. I went there in person, not trusting them to get it right by phone order, AND not ordering online so that Grub Hub doesn't take 25% of the money I spend. Once home and opening my bag, I was displeased to find plain (lukewarm) samosas (NOT a sandwich) and the 2 piece Vada Pac plate which was correct. As others have said - the cashier is less than enthusiastic and (obviously) could not give a crud about his job. I realize this was not a big order, BUT it was a "test" order and I was hoping it would be great, and become our regular place. Based on this experience - nope, I will move on to the 20 other Indian restaurants in my husband's neighborhood to find our "regular" spot.

In addition to this, if you're looking for traditional Indian sweet treats, they have`options like gulab jamun, ladoos, kaju katli, jalebis, rasgulla, ras malai etc. I was in the mood for stuffed paratha (flatbread) and this one was done with cauliflower, although you can get it done with potatoes if you prefer. I thought the stuffing was a little bland, and needed some more aggressive spicing. Gujrati daal was fine (slow cooked lentils) and went well with the ordinary rotis I ordered. The aloo-gobi which is a dish prepared with potatoes and cauliflower was pretty good, I thought they did their spice game well. Lots of cilantro always brightens any dish and this rendition had that in plenty. Overall, a good option in the Irving area if you're looking for homestyle Rajasthani food, or if you just wanna pick up some Indian sweets.
