I totally get the service and I totally understand that they might not always have the same exact entrées on any given day, but it comes as close to authentic delicious and two for all Filipino cuisine in the area. When you walk in, it feels like a total disorganized restaurant. But once you understand how all of it works, the best experience for a quick eat Filipino food.

I often am on the hunt for a new Filipino restaurant in the area to try. I frequent at Tita Mia's down the street, but while they were busy for lunch, I figured why not try something new. On a whim, I saw Sariling Atin just down the street. Located in a small strip that may be hard to spot if you don't know where to look for it. This restaurant offers, a quick service meal, dine in or catering. I came in shortly after 12pm and there was already a line to the door. I wasn't quite sure where to walk to get in line, but I essentially followed the crowd. While walking through, they were bringing out fresh turon (only $1 each!) (deep fried banana pastry) and various goodies. I ended up grabbing a 4 pack of siopao ($10 for the box of 4), a container of ube puto ($5.50) and a combo meal to try out their food. The combo included 2 sides and white rice, it was $8.50. For the amount of food that you're getting it really is a deal. I ended up getting the caldereta and the pork adobo. The caldereta has a bit of a kick to it, but the stewed minced meat was full of flavor. The pork adobo was a tad sweeter than I'm used to. But for a quick service meal, and the quality and quantity (that box was FULL and heavy) you get your bang for your buck. When I got home, my husband and I shared the siopao. They had the option of the pork adobo and the chicken adobo, but I guess I grabbed pork instead of chicken which had the sweeter flavor again. It wasn't awful, with the perfectly steamed bao it actually was decent compared to others in the area. My big win was finding a place that makes traditional puto and making it well. I should've grabbed 2 containers because we didn't even have enough to snack on for the next day. All in all, when I'm in the area I will likely come by and try other dishes.

So tasty! Price is reasonable too...although I wish they had a better proportion of entree to rice for people with diabetes...that's quite a bit of rice even though I explained my situation. Good experience overall though and I would recommend this place!

This restaurant serves authentic Filipino food. It's delicious and reasonably priced. The portions sizes are generous which I love. Their food is always delicious and you really feel like you're back in the Philippines when you're here. It's not a typical style restaurant (no waiters to call on etc) if anything, it feels like being served a plate at someone's Filipino birthday party so it's not for everyone, but I still highly recommend you try this place. P.S: Any pork dishes from here are always a winner

Sariling atin is the real deal. The kind of Filipino food you grew up to back at home. I get sentimental when coming here because our mom (who has since passed) used to pick up food from here to feed us throughout our childhood. She would order morcon, which is like a meat wrapped Spanish dish. Everything is amazing. My son wanted dumplings and they even fried it for him. Nothing but from our family!

Karioka (Karioka or Carioca is a sweetened deep-fried sticky rice ball made of glutinous rice and coconut milk dough mixture then dipped in a coconut and sugar mix sauce) sooooo soft and chewy! I don't have words to explain how yummy it is!

Turon! So crispy & soft inside. Excellent sweetness level.

If you're a homesick Filipino or just someone who wants to experience what typical street food is like in the Philippines, this is the right place to go. The plate lunches are legendary, especially on a weekend, because they're super filling yet only $7.50 for a combo. This is Filipino soul food delivered in its simplest form. Points off for limited seating during busy weekends. However, I do want to temper the expectations of western reviewers who might have rated this place lower based on a lack of cultural understanding. Sariling Atin is the equivalent of a canteen where there aren't any waitresses & limited opportunity for constant customer-staff interaction based on their additional catering demands. Come here expecting to enjoy the food after choosing it yourself but not to be overly attended to by workers. Bonus points for a solid selection of hot foods, baked goods, ice candy, fast service, and a clean bathroom.

Egg roll - not really worth it. It has more wrapping than the meat

We eat a lot of Filipino food as my wife's Filipina, and compared to some other Filipino restaurants in the Chicago area, this was really really good. Kinilaw was perfect with fresh fish, tabon-tabon marinade and a hint of spicy chilis here and there (not overwhelmingly spicy at all). Pork skewers were also on point with great flavor and a nice char. Chicken was the same... So good. There were a lot of other items on the menu that we want to try so we will be back for sure. Wish they had fountain soft drinks rather than canned, but no big deal. Service was good as well. I recommend you check this place out if you're in the area. After a long day of walking, talking, and imagining his future, we were more than ready for a comforting dinner. Tita Mia's has been a staple for us ever since a very good friend introduced it to our family a couple of years ago, and it has become a non‑negotiable stop every time we're in town. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by their inviting pastry area, an instant mood‑setter that hints at the good meal ahead. As we walked further in, the ambiance washed over me with a wave of nostalgia. Everything about the space, the décor, the warmth, the familiar scents, reminds me of home in Manila. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like you're about to enjoy a true Filipino dinner, not just a restaurant meal. Since it wasn't too busy, we were seated right away and our server took our order promptly. Service was quick and friendly, which we always appreciate after a long day. We ordered some of our favorites: Kare-Kare, sisig, and lumpiang gulay. Each entrée comes with rice, so there was no need to order extra. The food arrived fast and piping hot. Their Kare-Kare is exceptional, rich, creamy, and full of that deep peanut flavor that instantly brought me back to my mom's cooking. The sisig came out sizzling just the way it should, perfectly cooked and not overly salty like versions I've had elsewhere. And the lumpiang gulay was freshly fried, crisp, and absolutely perfect when dipped in vinegar and paired with rice. By the end of the meal, we were happily stuffed, with enough leftovers to take home. Tita Mia's continues to be one of those places that feels like a warm hug, consistent, comforting, and deeply satisfying. We'll always make it a point to come back, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic Filipino flavors.

And we just rushed and ordered and sat down. We ordered the lumpia, the breakfast sandwich, and the pork belly with garlic rice. We also ordered a pandan cold brew and a ube cold brew. For dessert I got an ube cookie. The lumpia came out almost immediately, but was super super salty. I took one bite and couldn't finish it even with the sweet chili sauce but my husband kept eating at it. Our entrees came out shortly after the sandwich was good, and the pork belly was crispy. It was a great size portion. We waited to eat our food until we got our drinks, which came out quite a bit later after we got our food. The drinks were great and full of flavor. After we finished our meal, we went to the counter to find someone to ask for our cookie because we hadn't received and we were the only ones In the restaurant. It took a while until someone came out, so we rang the bell. She gave us our cookie after checking we never got it. So we took it to go. Overall the food was exactly what it was listed as, but I don't know I'll come back to the brick and mortar maybe just support them at various pop up markets.
