I've bookmarked Eggrolly for several months now and finally made the trek over the past few days. This visit served dual purpose which was to... #1.) Finally try it after reading the rave review posted by fellow Yelper, Joy C. and #2.) To break my husband into the varied Filipino menu (aside from what he's been exposed to eating during family dinners) as we approach our upcoming trip to the Philippines. I gotta say the food is pretty good! My favorites are obviously their renowned eggrolls. We personally enjoyed the beef and pork filled lumpia. Other favorites were the Binondo fried chicken, the Mushroom and Tofu Adobo, Lechon Kawali and the cholesterol inducing Crispy Pata! LoL! Service was courteous, albeit slow, but when the food came out the quality shined. I would love to return to have more eggrolls, try out their sweets (they have a big selection) and come back for the Beef Pares-Miki Noodle. The first time I tried Egrrolly was when they just opened a couple of years ago. I wasn't a fan of the caldereta and beefsteak that I had so I didn't go again, until last month. When my daughter and I walked in on a Friday night, the place only had one table of customers. The server was friendly and attentive. On this visit, we tried the PARES, BINONDO CHICKEN, and PORK BBQ SKEWERS. Everything that we had was delicious. The pares was so flavorful, the chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside. and the pork bbq was tasty and tender. We waited for quite a long time on this visit though. Our server was the only one fronting the place and a few people were picking up take-out orders, and 2 other groups dined in. He did try his best to attend to all the customers but we were there longer than expected. I had an out-of-town guest who loves pares so I decided to take him here after a couple of weeks. I called the place on our way there to put our orders in (so we didn't have to wait a long time again) and they were nice to accommodate my request. For this visit, we ordered the PARES, BINONDO CHICKEN, and the FATTY PORK ADOBO. The pares and chicken were solid but we weren't impressed with the adobo. We also tried SAGO'T GULAMAN, which you can customize the sweetness level and it was delicious. From the bakery section, we tried the UBE BRIOCHE, CHEESE BRIOCHE, SPANISH BREAD, and PANDESAL. They were all freshly made, the brioches were fluffy and soft, and they were simply fantastic. The wait time on the second visit was way better than our first. The server was very efficient and attentive. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained. Overall, I would come back here. We ordered garlic rice, longganisa with eggs for $10 (not sure if $10.50 I forgot or just $10)and garlic rice with tocino and eggs. Pretty decent, it's flavorful. Smoothies are made to your left, but the bakery counter beckons with its brightly frosted cupcakes and assortment of Ensaymada Brioche- a tender sweet dough. We tried a brioche with Ube and shockingly it was served with a generous serving of shredded cheese. It was actually quite delicious with the lightly sweet and tender dough with sweet purple Ube. We actually quite liked the cheese on top because it was mellow and gentle, not sharp, and gave a richness to the pastry. We also ordered a halo halo, an ube shave ice with jelly and coconut strips and gulaman. The ube latte was rich and sweet and purple and piping hot. First time at Egg Rolly, I arrived just around lunch time on a cold Friday but was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. They went over their daily specials and I have to say that it was difficult to resist since it seems like such a deal. Daily specials are chicken meals, and I had the adobo. I did want orange chicken, but it didn't seem right for a Filipino restaurant. Also had the pancit Malabon which was served with shrimp and egg (I felt it was luxurious since eggs are such luxury these days) The chicken had some charred smokiness and a delicious savory /semi sweet sauce. Absolutely needed rice, and the staff happened to bring out extra rice to us just for that purpose! The star was really the lumpias - we tried pork and shrimp (Shanghai style) and also the straight pork. They were bite-sized and wonderful. Since we were in a bakery I needed some sweets as well to go with the 'egg rolls' so we had the brioche and Spanish breads. Awesome with a black morning coffee. I found out about the brunch options on the weekends and I'll have to come back to try those dishes. All online menus are old. Tried ordering from available menus and was told many items were removed. All egg rolls were over cooked. Filling was so minimal. Almost could not taste it. Bao buns were good. The tofu and the chicken, both tasty. Only had wished that the cashier would have told me BEFORE he processed my CC payment, that the buns would take 30 minutes. I had no choice but to wait. The dessert, a beautiful chocolate cupcake was stale; Very dry. The Co Co buns were good, but could have used more filling. I came this place with no expectations as I am Filipino and it is a Filipino restaurant. I did not want to cloud my judgement based off of comparisons to other authentic Filipino restaurants I frequently visit. I visited with an open mind. When you step in, the first thing I noticed is the dining area to be fairly large. Straight ahead from the entrance is a full fledged bakery filled with classic Filipino desserts (Cakes, brioche buns aka ensamada, cookies filled with mung bean aka hopia, and so on). The dessert bar is to die for. Even if you don't order any food from the restaurant portion, be sure to order a dessert... You won't be disappointed. When ordering for food, I was told everything is made-to-order. I was greeted with warmth and the people working really helped me with my food options. Passed this restaurant while on our way to Evanston and asked my hubby if we could stop on the way back home. I'm so glad we did. Ordered the watermelon bubble tea, a Nutella pastry, and some buns with purple yam in them. Absolutely delicious! While I was waiting for my bubble tea, they asked if I would like to try an egg roll. I think it needs to be simplified. Beef caldereta is a classic Filipino dish. Eggrolly states they are Asian fusion. I unfortunately think they flop on "fusion" cuisine. My take is that they need to stay true to Filipino dishes. I did not like the flavor of the Caldereta. It included shredded (not quality) cheddar cheese on top and chopped mini sweet peppers. I don't believe that these flavors complimented one another at all. The pork lechon was cooked well but was topped with Parmesan cheese. Again, another failed attempt at "fusion" flavors. Family owned businesses are my favorite type of businesses to visit in every city. This restaurant, by far, stood out! The fiancé and I were literally just cruising around the city when I saw the sign outside this restaurant and was like "omg so kawaiiiiiii" , so the fiancé was forced to stop and try it with me. Life of a Yelp Elite? Am I right? The minute I walked through the door, it didn't take long to realize that I wanted to try almost every single thing they offered on their menu or what was beautifully displayed inside the restaurant. Unfortunately, due to boomers and inflation, us millennials can only have so much. (I'm just kidding) We ended up getting the vegetable and beef egg rolls (they start with 10 each but because we wanted to try a bunch of different menu items, the owner was kind enough to let us purchase 5 of each flavor instead of 10) Crunchy mouthwatering filling and crispy wrapping - perfect! The fiancé ordered the Chicken Curry as his main and I ordered the vegetable egg noodles. The curry was great but could use a bit more spice and the egg noodles were saucy and delicious. The eggrolls are really good (which they should be since the place has egg roll in it's name.). I had an issue with the other food I ordered ( two portions of chicken adobo, beef kaldereta, and chicken teriyaki was not even lukewarm, and more on the cold side. Dylan, to his credit, took it back immediately and we were prepared fresher dishes. The flavor was very good but I wish it just came out hot the first time. The kitchen staff gave us free desert for the inconvenience and it was really good! The chocolate was a little much but the flavor was there. Love that a new Filipino inspired restaurant is in Morton Grove. Not a bad place to stop if you're new to Filipino food or have a craving. There wasn't anyone else there and I can't imagine each order takes that long. It was 1130 when we went so I wonder what a lunch rush is like. The interior is clean and the tables are spaced apart to allow for social distancing. There are two different counters for ordering which can be a little confusing for first timers. One counter is for their bakery section and the other is for food orders. I ordered the take-out lunch special which is served daily between 11:30am to 4:00pm. I got the chicken adobo which came with white rice, two veggie eggrolls and a fountain drink. I also ordered 10 pork eggrolls, and since it was sweltering hot outside, decided to get their halo-halo bowl as well. For those who are not familiar with halo-halo, it's a famous Filipino dessert made of shaved ice, ube, a variety of fruits, jelly and other ingredients mixed together. The chicken adobo was okay, but not great. The flavor was a little bland so I probably would not order it again. The pork eggrolls however were crunchy on the outside and yummy goodness in the inside! But my ultimate favorite was their halo-halo. I love the strong ube flavor and the ingredients. This place just opened on Easter of 2021. I'm going to give them 4 stars for our first experience, but there is definitely potential for them to earn that 5th star. Upon entry, feel free to scan the QR code to pull up the menu on your smartphone. If you miss it or choose not to, walk up to the counter to your left and look at the paper menu or the menu boards behind the counter. The TVs in the lobby cycle photos of their dishes. Definitely lots of Filipino dishes, some Chinese dishes, some western twists (namely cheese sauce). Truly fusion. I believe for dine in, you order and pay at the counter, then they will bring it to your table. We did carry out, so we waited at the cafe tables near the front window. Either way, make your way to the bakery counter towards the back/center of the dining room while waiting for your food. The case was full of Piaya (flatbread?), Ensaymada / Brioche buns of all different flavors (cheese, Nutella, ube, cinnamon, etc.), cookies, cakes, etc. We picked a couple of items and paid for them up front. Our drink came out first. TAJOS Drink - Sago-Gulaman / Tapioca Jello Sugar Cane. Cool and sweet. Refreshing. Wish the jello was cut smaller to fit through the boba straw. They did provide a long spoon for the jello. While waiting, we were given a couple of beef eggrolls with cheesy sauce to sample. Hot, crispy, and flavorful. The cheese was a nice, unexpected complement. A few minutes later, we were heading home with the rest of our order: Pork eggrolls (excellent), vegetable eggrolls (very good), and the 2 entree meal with bbq pork skewer (excellent), beef caldareta (needed to cook a few more minutes to tenderize the meat and potatoes), pancit bihon (good), and 2 pork eggrolls. This meal deal was a great value as well. We also ordered 2 soups: Beef Stew Noodle Soup and Chicken Mami (Noodle Soup). Both soups had the broth packaged separately from the noodles/meat/veggies. Hidden gem!!! What a pleasant surprise! I've been driving by here for a year curious as can be and finally decided today that we would give it a try for lunch. The food was fantastic! You had a choice of white or dark meat, it was served with white rice. I worked in an Egg Roll mall store that sold a couple hundred of them per day. They were made with bean sprouts (Chinese). Later I was introduced to egg rolls made with glass noodles (Thai). The mini vegetable egg rolls here were made with cabbage and shockingly there was NO dipping sauce. I didn't like the taste or texture of the vegetable egg rolls. Not sure if I caught them on a slow day, but there were few pastries and they didn't look that appetizing.
